When you see a sign saying "please close the gate" together with a sign saying "Private, no public right of way ", it usually means that foot/cycles/horses can pass through and the "Private, ..." sign means no motorised vehicles unless you live there.

No way? Dope info. Are you a farmer 😮

      What does "dope info" mean?

Cheers. “Dope info” = Good information

@@benjaminlechappers Haha, yes, I googled the meaning and feel quite "street" now ... 🤣
What I wrote isn't actually the rule or law per se (although it can be) , but more that it is generally accepted by the landowner that it is an accepted/tolerated 'right of way'.
Last month I got the train from Newcastle to Berwick upon Tweed early Saturday morning then cycled to that very same border sign and cycled back to Newcastle, it is indeed a very 'dope' route 😃🚴‍♂️👍

I`m starting to enjoy the 'old school" cyclingvideos of riders just documenting theyr rides showing the area they ride through more then the (semi) profesional youtubers/influencers who often struggle to get enough good content/views. Wich is bloody hard probably.
Good luck on your youtube and cyclingadventure.

well done Ben! what a adventure and tough going. I remember years ago before my racing bikes I had a old steel 3 speed sturmey archer bike and I just took off with a packed lunch and done ipswich to clacton on sea and back and with no spare innertube so I was lucky no punctures but really enjoyed it...😁 I have always enjoyed the freedom cycling gives you and fresh air etc..
    ride safe! 🚲👍

I've done the coast and castles route from Newcastle to Edinburgh which takes in the ncn 1 route. We did it over 2 days on our mountain bikes, although we did stay predominantly on the road!
Also, some trains dont allow you to book your bike which is annoying for popular cycle routes, but conductor's often use common sense even if there's more cyclists than the allocated number of bikes allowed on the train.

Fun to see you exploring. I stumbled on a hundred mile route around the peaks a few years ago with virtually no road. Have not done it for a while and commitments have meant fitness could not be reached to hit it this year, (climbing is between 9 and 11,000ft) It is defenitely a spring or autumn ride, otherwise tyou'd be wieghed down by 3 to 4kg extra water which is noticable on the grinding climbs.

Good Morning, thanks for taking us along on another fun ride. Was that your Domane you were on and if so what wheels and tires are you running, I have my Domane setup with road tires but I’d like to pickup a set of spare wheels and tires that I can run on gravel.
