as an emonda SL owner, im sad this version didnt come out a year earlier as it would be my choice over the SL. i now have a crockett for gravel/cyclocross and alloy frames really won me over. ill try chinese carbon but not high end expensive western carbon. alloy seems to be nearly as light nowadays and half the price of western carbon

I keep going through winter as I have a cycling buddy to go out with so I appreciate it is harder when riding solo. Looked a great ride and the cafe stop looked amazing

What camera do you use while shooting on the bike? How do you manage grabbing it when you want to record or putting it back to safety while riding. Must be crazy in India especially in traffic.

I enjoyed watching your VLOG and can confirm that it is a nice ride up the coast of Northumberland but having said that there are some grotty surfaces on the NCN1 especially at Howick, Beal and Berwick which are best avoided especially when it's been raining.

Chapeau. Love that area; I was a friend of Geoff Apps and he lived just on the other side of the river from Coldstream. I cycled to see him once (from Gloucestershire) and we had a ride out towards Lindisfarne. Then like you I got the train back from Berwick (to Manchester actually, then cycled home from there). Also went to a couple of winter Bike Right meets based at Wooler.

The cold makes the ride much harder. I could never do 150km in one sitting.

Benjamin that was a interesting and very tough ride, just the darkness this time of year is difficult but having cold weather that is wet is almost impossible to ride alone. Can you get someone to ride with you which would make it more fun and less psychologically painful.

Well done Ben! Way better than those three other stoogies in Thailand. Chasing the train reminded me of a ride I did in 2022. I did La Marmotte, then the day after I had a 175 km recovery/transfer ride to Moutiers. The next day I had to ride over Petit Saint Bernard and catch the train in Aosta to go to Verona and onwards to Dolomites. Missing the train would mean an unacceptable 24 hour delay. I got a flat 2 km from the train station and I had to make the fastest flat fix in my life to get on the train as it was leaving the station.

Love the video, makes me want to try something like that not in winter maybe wait for Spring :)

Mate I did this ride back on 2021 on my road bike with 23mm tyres and had the best/worst time. Have ridden it since with a gravel bike and found it miles better. Maybe next time running the 45's would be the move but fuck it the routes lush regardless innit!!

1:25 the joy of tubeless. Been running them 2 years and never had a puncture. That means I'm still paranoid about my ability to repair any issues so paranoia means I still carry two tubes therefore negating one of the tubeless benefits. 😂

Great video Benjamin. Brings back memories of when I used to live in Alnwick Northumberland, I know that coastline well. But I now live back home in Scotland. I did the RTTS event this year and really enjoyed it. If you haven’t done, it’s worth doing. Cycling from Carlisle to Cramond on the other side of Edinburgh just in time for the sun coming up. They arrange transport for your bike and a bus to get you to Carlisle and vice versa. I left Carlisle at 19.30 and headed back to Scotland. It’s worth looking up. It’s on in June again next year. Keep the videos coming and take care.

A great achievement, well done mate. I've done part of NCN1 on the Coasts and Castles route. That bit from Holy Island to Berwick is basically off road and needs sorting. Loved the video.

This is exactly what a bike is for. Love that there's a TH-camr out there doing day-trip adventures. Unfortunately not all can be week-long travels in remote countries. Keep it up!
