Lisa - TIP!!! I have baked mini sourdough loaves exactly like you did in this video without a dutch oven as well!! For the steam, I used a small ovenproof glass dish, filled it with water, and put it into the oven during preheating, and leaving it in there during the "lid on" baking time!! I use this method ALL the time, works beautifully, and not so much bulk.
I do this all the time. It's a French technique and creates an immense amount of steam! I do it when I make Baguettes mainly but the overall idea is no fail!
Even though I personally don't eat meat your cooking videos are still very inspiring to me; it's more about the general idea of combinations than of the literal recipe. What I really appreciate is how you are very committed to quality products, seasonal produce, and cooking as much from scratch as possible, but you're not scared of things that people sometimes get a little too restrictive (imo) about like sugar, salt, carbs in general. I eat differently from you but your view still resonates :) thank you!
You have inspired me to start my own sour dough starter. That's in the works, and I started some saurkraut last night. My husband made the comment that he is the luckiest guy in the world to have married Brittani Crocker 🤣🤣🤣 these recipes look amazing.
Something I learned (from my early days of cooking and not knowing better) is that you absolutely don't have to trim the ends off of Brussel sprouts. They have no odd flavor and cook just as tender as the rest of the vegetable. Less waste, saves money, saves time :)
I don’t think I can get enough of your cooking from scratch videos. I’ve watched all of them and am up to date but I think it’s time to start rewatching
Soo yummy ! Since at our house we are just two people I was able to pull off making a mini loaf (30g starter, 210g water, 300g bread flour, 4g salt) and then split that into two "mini mini" loaves for the cold proofing. And then I baked both of those in the same big dutch oven for the bread bowls, they were super cozy with broccoli cheddar soup :) if I were to do it again I think I can manage making them even more mini with just 25g starter to start and a proportional share of the other ingredients to make a good size bread bowl but not too much bread for my belly
I am so excited for this video, a few days ago I told my husband I wanted to make many bread bowls I just needed to figure out how. I am trying this as soon as possible.
@@FarmhouseonBoone thank you! We did!! It was a fun experience, we did Toscana soup. I think it needed a more creamy soup. The Toscana is too much liquid. But overall it was GREAT!
I swear, every time you light you gas oven, it brings back wonderful memories of my childhood. We had a gas stove from late 50’s to early 70’s. My mom had to start the oven and broiler the same way using a match. Your meals always look so delicious and heartwarming!
Lisa! Not sure of anybody else relayed this message but I never get tired of your creamy tomato pasta dishes! We live bread bowls with sourdough! I actually shape after first rise and then freeze so whenever we want them!!
I use sausage in soups all the time and how I use it is to squeeze it out of the casings into meatballs when still raw. I like to use it this way with a Kale and Sausage saute.
That bread and soup look delicious! So does the pasta, even though I don't eat meat. My mouth is watering.Your kids are lucky to have you as a mom Lisa
I loved your soup bowls! They are actually an historic way of serving in England. The grand folk may have eaten from plates, but most folk ate from a “trenchers” of bread, then eat the bread, L know which I like the thought of most, but I’d still need a plate, would want to leak my soup!
I love that you recreated a Panera meal, I do stuff like that all the time, we eat out pretty close to never so when I want something you would normally get at a restaurant I try to make it myself and it usually comes out way better!
Thank you Lisa!!! I have been making sourdough on a regular basis for about a year all from your teaching. I have been thinking about making the bread bowls, now I have to! Love all your recipes and everything you share:)
You are such a good cook! Everything looks and sounds so delicious. Maybe if my boys weren’t all grown up and moved I’d try some recipes but it’s just my husband and I. Plus, I’m going through chemo for cancer and I have no energy. Nevertheless, I love watching you cook.
Everything looks delicious! I’ve got my starter feed and I’m excited to make the no knead sourdough bread.🤞 I’ve made the bagel recipe a few time and my family loves them. Thanks Lisa appreciate your videos😊
Good Tuesday morning Farmhouse on Boone. What a haul. Thanks for sharing. I do believe my favorite item is that homemade pasta made in a breadbowl - so much better than storebought!!
Love that you are eating seasonally. I'm working on incorporating that concept into our dinners. Soups & casseroles, root veggies, cold weather leafy greens, sauerkraut, etc. It's not easy as my family is picky and likes specific veggies, but I'm trying to get creative - ie: I mix turnips with potatoes when baking or sautéing. (I live in TX and am trying to work with produce in my region.)
Watching you make such beautiful, tasty food always makes me hungry.....love some clam chowder in those sourdough bread bowls.....wish I had a cow so I could have fresh, raw cream.....and I agree with "don't be shy with adding cream to things.....the more the better"..... can't find fresh, pasture raised, organic eggs anywhere due to the "bird flu".....so I need to add chickens to the list of things I wish I had as well.....another wonderful, inspirational video, Lisa!!!....thank you for all your hard work, and squeezing in time to make me drool, and dream of a better life with fresh on hand ingredients.....
I just got my hard red wheat spring berries coming in tomorrow I'm wanting to try all different grains for bread going to try sour dough and rustic eat breads to make
@@FarmhouseonBoone i ended up making the sausage and creamy tomato. I improvised with baby spinach instead of kale and broth instead of white wine. My family loved it! Will be making it again. Thank you for sharing your recipes.
For me it's not so much the tupe of finner that I associate with winter, it's more the ptoduce available. Things like brusselsprouts, freshly made sauerkraut, andive. The only really wintery dish here is probably stamppot, a mash of potatoes with vegetables usually served with a protein source like smoked sausage, meatballes, pork belly. I'm really thinking hard if I have some dinners I cook more often or only in winter. Probably soups and some stews.

I also use my small 8 inch cast iron pan for this instead of glass!
Yes! Soooo good! But if you use something other than glass you don't have to worry about shattering in those higher temps!
I always use a ramekin full of water when I bake any bread without a Dutch oven. It always works.
That's what I do too. Very easy with good results.

I trim as needed, if the ends are dry, like with any other veggie!
@@amywert8088 I don’t treat them like any other veggie. If ends are dry, I keep them!

I NEVER tire of any of your videos you are so awesome thank you so much!!!

Glad you like them!
The bread bowls…so impressive
In Canada, our milk can come in bags so I use that instead of the shopping bags. Fun alternative…
That sausage pasta looks amazing! Id have swap the kale for spinach though and maybe add fresh mushrooms! Great cozy video as always.
All 3 meals are wonderful winter foods. I love the roast veggies and root veggies have so much flavor and often even color.

Bonne préparation, félicitations. Yummy
Love your chanel 😍 i was wondering though what kind of sausage meat do you use for the creamy pasta ?
it was a pork brat from my sisters farm
Love these videos, thank you for the inspiration! I will try the creamy tomato pasta this week🥰

I have had it for many years...originally purchased from Target
