Yes! I use lard and/or butter for literally everything, I literally weigh the least I’ve ever weighed without being on a “diet”, and feel the best I’ve ever felt. Amazing!

Everything looks so delicious! A little tip for you..if you will flour the roast before you brown it, it will make its own gravy as it cooks in its juices throughout the day. :)

You talk about your sisters farm a lot and how you source a lot of your meats and such from her. Would you ever consider making a video touring her farm and interviewing her about raising animals etc. ? P.S. my mouth is watering looking at that cheesy bread!!!

Also, some advice about how to source meats in different areas of the country would be nice too. Unfortunately, we have had to downsize to an apartment and no longer have room for a freezer so limited on space.

@Lisa Parker we just moved to an apartment for a while, too, but a tiny chest freezers will be in one of our closets :) which we are planning to do soon. I also have a tiny spot in the kitchen that a tiny one will fit so I may get two.

I loved seeing your daughter in the kitchen cooking with you. Just a caution for you-I noticed her leaning up to get spices above the stove. I am a burn nurse and we see so many burns from women reaching up to get things and catching their clothes on fire. I don’t want your family getting hurt

My head scarf 🧣 caught on fire when I was making chapatis as an 11 year old girl it was at the back of my derrière and I didn’t even notice it. It was my younger brother who saw it then I panicked 🙀 luckily only my clothes were damaged not me. Could have been so much worse. I love my brother. In the kitchen tie hair up also so it too doesn’t catch fire 🔥 and roll sleeves up. Her daughters are a credit to her. Beautiful family.

I was raised that you stay away from “manufactured foods” so being raised on a farm we utilized the whole animal. Lard, tallow, butter…these were healthy fats. None of my family had heart issues from eating this way. I am 100% with you on “real” fats 😊

Both my mother and grandmother would use proper lard when both my dad and grandfather would butcher a pig. They would use the lard frying chicken, making pastry, and making biscuits. My mom would also use a little when cooking green vegetables, especially string beans. So good!
As usual Lisa, your recipes looked delicious!

The fried chicken dinner looks delicious! my daughter would want to eat that too :) I've been making more and more soups as well. My daughter simply love soup and it's so easy with my slow cooker. I recently saw a pulled pork soup recipe somewhere. We usually eat pulled pork or chicken with sandwiches, but will try it with potatoes as well sometime. Better option for winter then bread which I find more of a summer meal somehow.

Many years ago I learned that lard wasn’t as bad as was assumed. But now, for several years I’ve been vegan for many reasons including how it breaks my heart to see the explodes and slaughter of any animal. So lard is not an option. I try to cook with as little oil as possible when I can because no matter how you look at it; oils and lard aren’t getting a halo 😇 as the healthiest ingredient added to food. So all those different fats being added to foods after a while is why the United States has a huge problem with obesity and overweight issues which lead to other health problems. My daughter also loves cooking and baking from scratch, but with organic vegan and natural foods. But no matter our view on cooking, It is great that the next generation is learning about healthy eating and cooking from scratch.
    😃👍 Thanks for sharing.

Lard = Natural = Good = Provided by the Lord in its Natural state is healthy eating, in my humble opinion. I believe the Lord has provided on this Earth Everything we need to Live and Thrive. We just need to adhere to Natural not processed. A little work over unhealthy easy. When my children were at home, I had a Fry Granddaddy! Big fryer that was great for larger meals.

The easiest ribs you’ll ever make. Put the ribs with spices in your roaster or slow cooker whatever they’ll fit in and cook until their fork tender then take them out put them in a pan cover them with barbecue sauce and put them in the oven under the broiler and or in a hot oven until they get bubbly and crispy on the edges. Nothing to it

Not sure why you are frying in a sauce pan, instead of a fry pan. We call the chicken you are cooking chicken schnitzel, its a European food, usually made with veal but as some people are against eating veal , thinly sliced chicken breast is used instead.

My doctor actually recommended lard over many modern seed oils. Her words were “the dose makes the poison” but we are learning that over consumption of fried food are not good for many people; but the overuse of seed oils is becoming a concern. Between frying, dressings, condiments and baked goods the ‘old ways’ are starting to give us some insight into health, movement and modern agriculture”.

And by the way, I am not the least bit overweight either. I use butter, lard, whole milk and cream as well. This life is meant to enjoy. Why not eat the foods we love. I mean, you make your own cheese, bread, yogurt, and you ferment food. It seems that everything you use is organic. I think your family is lucky to get to enjoy all the amazing things you cook. When we get a half I put the less liked cuts in a special place and start using them first. The heart gets thawed right away.

Where are all your sweet children during all of this? I’ve only seen one poke his head in to see what you’re doing? I am new to your channel? Do you homeschool? Or do they go to school? Which is why it’s so quiet? Thank you. Just curious. I love big family life. Do any of them like to be around you when you’re in the kitchen?
