    This video here was super helpful for those of us who are in the process of learning how to texture using the knockdown technique. Thank you so much guy's. Big thank you.

    Great tip about lower pressure for heavy texture I appreciate it. I have to do some concrete micro topping texture repairs on my poll deck. The texture looks exactly the same thanks big time

    I got the same exact weather stripping for the knock down. Looks like you got a nice match, perfect.

    The garage door sweep for a knockdown knife is genius. I'm gonna try that tomorrow.

    That rubber is a great tip! I am doing knockdown right now, and using a wide metal knife. The corner of the knife leaves lines if you’re not super carful. I totally fucked up the closet, so I’m heading to Lowes or HD for some rubber! Need to get this dialed in before I get to the main area where it’s more noticeable! Great video! Thanks Guys!👊

    How can I get smaller lumps. Do I use more pressure or thinner material?

    Just watched your recent video on how to patch a hole, butterfly 🦋 patch....keep rolling them good drywall videos and definitely keep it southern style with the old pan and knife, don't see it much on TH-cam everyone is hawk and trowel, I use both but I feel that there is a time and place for every tool, just depends on the situation for me, keep it up brother love your videos

      Yeah here you on the hawk and trial that’s one of the reasons I started doing it because I can run circles around somebody with a hawk and trial! I actually saw one guy demonstrating how to skim a butt joint and he put it on with a trial and then wiped it with a 12 inch knife thinking to myself what’s the point lol have a good evening

      @@scottssheetrockservices I totally agree with you, I've seen that video too, I was taught by an old timer who made me learn with the hawk and trowel, but when he finally let me use the pan and knife, well I was amazed at what I had been missing out on, both are good tools and have their place, but I use my pan and knife more than anything in my tool arsenal... 😆 Lol...good day to you my friend

    Well, not bad , but only one thing when I do this I never start from the middle, always front or back , because when you start knowing the textured well done 👏 ✔️ 😉

    Great video. I do jobs with a small compressor and I find the heavier knockdown more difficult. Can you tell me what pressure you set the compressor to in order to spray this larger,heavier knockdown texture?

    • @scottssheetrockservices
      @scottssheetrockservices  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So on the heavier knock down I have a hopper that has an adjustable valve and I just play with it a little bit essentially your pressure if I were to guess is gonna be about 40 or 50 where you can get basically a repetitive, For lack of a better description ,splat splat splat. I have a larger compressor but again I use the valve on the hopper to discriminate the pressure. And once you get it right don’t change so you stay the same through the course of whatever your Spraying Hope this helps.

      Thanks for the reply. Ya For me spraying the heavier blobs , well it seems like my air compressor doesn’t seem to have the strength to shoot the bigger blobs (especially when I point up to a ceiling) I have the blue Marshalltown compressor and hopper , so I’ve been trying to thin the material in hopes that it makes it easier for my compressor to get those blobs up and out. I see you said go heavier. Maybe I should buy that same hopper you got. Anyhow this video really helps. Keep up the good work in the detail of your explaining how it’s done. Very valuable info for guys like me who do patching repairs.

      I was having the exact same problems as you. Also using the same Marshalltown hopper but the husky silent compressor which isn't a very strong compressor either. However I've found that not all hoppers are created equally. Marshalltown big blue hopper seems to need more power psi especially for knockdown. However my dad gifted me the same harbor freight hopper from this video and I've found that it doesn't require as much psi. Like he said in the video, you need lower pressure and from my own experience: don't point the hopper directly up, rather point it just like Eli demonstrated in this video. At an angle. It's easier for the thicker mud to shoot through this way since gravity is working against it with the low psi required to achieve the thicker pattern. Hope this helps!

      @@JohnPortillo-z4y that’s good to know and I appreciate your reply. I’m gonna have to pick one up and try it. I’ve kinda figured it out with my blue Marshalltown hopper but it’s slow going and you get little splatter/overspray everywhere so there’s a lot of extra masking involved. I did try the Graco FastFinish Pressure boosted Hopper. It can spray the big blob because it has an air hose that pushes air into the hopper to help it push out. You can even use thicker mud. Only problem is it sprays so fast you have to be real careful to not overload the mud on the wall. Anyhow thanks again!

    What pressure are you using & which spray tip are you using

    • @scottssheetrockservices
      @scottssheetrockservices  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to use very low pressure I prefer using a hopper with a valve that you can adjust based on how it’s coming out of the hopper and also use the biggest hole that you have on your hopper for heavy knockdown. I hope this helps.

    Do you texture right over the mud of the patch? I've seen people say you have to prime it, and people who say you don't. What's your experience with that?

    • @scottssheetrockservices
      @scottssheetrockservices  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my experience if you get the texture to match exactly it doesn’t matter we prime after I hope this helps

    • @Bapuji42
      @Bapuji42 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scottssheetrockservices It does, thank you. Someone was saying the dry mud under would suck the moisture out of the texture too quick but I guess it's just something you gotta feel out.

    what pressure? and plastic knifes work better and are wider.

    • @scottssheetrockservices
      @scottssheetrockservices  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pressure is very low when you’re spraying a heavy knockdown because you want the biggest blobs that you can so to speak. Press is really just determined on what you’re trying to match or what you’re trying to accomplish. As far as knock down, blade I like the rubber because it’s easier to leave lines with metal or plastic knock down blades but each to their own in that regard. As far as length of the blade, I buy 8 foot pieces so you can cut them any size you want we cut them 2 foot and put them on a pole if we do a whole room.
