I just bought one! It is a amazing piece of tech. I got mine for$540! they thought the zoom was broken, but didn't realize that you need a SD card for it to function!!!
Might want to buy it before its discontinued. The government and NASA put pressure on Nikon. This is from an email from nikon to my camera supplier. They would not share it with me however.
I 100% agree with what u said in this video. I also got the P1000 and its super strength is its zoom and nothing else. I also bought a shotgun mic for better Audio and its all i need. U can get amazing photos still amazing videos if enough light is available. I would also buy one again if mine brakes down one day. For the zoom u get + the quality it still provides at such a high distance its amazing and mindblowing. I really enjoy all of your videos with it and the comparison with the older p900. Keep doing awesome videos and enjoy it. Have a great one!
@@SuperZoomVideos I'm sorry to hear that maybe u can fix that somehow, probably by opening the camera and soldering a new mic jack in but thats pretty risky. If not still an amazing piece of tech, photos + videos with some chill music in the backround.
I own a 'perch' (highest lot in my community, two story home with a walk-out roof deck) above the Pacific with an eastern exposure and low horizons for most of the 360 degree circle of my sky. I shoot the sunrise and sunset almost daily. Most days the shutter starts snapping 60 minutes prior to the sunrise. The P 1000 allows me to examine items in the sky that I had no idea were existent. Try it. Surprise is for everyone to enjoy.
Wow mate, i wish I had that sort of energy. I have great views from two mountains that are pretty local to me but unfortunately actual work tends to get in the way :D

Having good time. I know it's limitations because am watching videos and reviews since it's release. Also I have another mirrorless camera. So am not expecting anything professional or serious from this electronic telescope 🤣.
Are we talking about the flash or something more manual in the settings for the flash? Outside of popping up the flash using the two buttons I seem to remember there being something on one of the dials for the different flash modes.
Had the 900. Have the 950. On the fence still with the 1000. I’m not a pro and film birds so the zoom is great but man the 950 is frustrating. It’s so slow and birds are fast.
I have not used the P950 but on paper the step to the P1000 is really worth it. I’ve been trying to take blind photos of swallows as they dive bomb, I’m not sure any shutter speed adjustment are going to help me with that task 😂
I tend to cheese it a bit so I use a minipod or gorilla pod on a flat surface preferably and either fold them into a monopod to pivot or just hope their are no vibrations about and use them normally. Tripod wise I see a lot of people mention anything with a fluid head

@@KarlSchmitt-yk5cc the tripod that I very rarely use is not very good, for the P1000 (manfrotto action tripod) so I would recommend taking a look at the FB groups as they tend to be a better source of info :)
I think the best upgrade to the P1000 would be a 24 MP sensor, as 16 is becoming pretty old now. I appreciate that the sensor size is smart phone equivalent but some smart phones now have 48MP, so, I think the 50% increase in pixels is highly possible. Also some more picture controls would be good with capacity to download film emulations as can higher spec cameras. In fact a richer software setup say at the D5600 level wouldn’t go astray either. I love my P1000 because it is such a unique offering to the market and truly the camera to, “Rule them All.” But, there would need to be an upgrade significant enough to get me to part with more money in Nikon’s general direction. 100% it’s those fringe upgrades I would expect to see if they ever come through with a successor. Maybe even a smaller form factor, the longer they leave it the better the tech comes and the more likely that need creeps back into the market. I would be interested in seeing what the sales numbers are like for the P1000 and P950 at the moment

Old one makes audible noise while new one seems silent. But, its totally possible that my camera being less than a month old is well lubed,

If people want to learn photography or know already, this is the best all-rounder ever created at such a low price. If a newer version comes I will sell the old one and buy that. It has the best Micro ability, with flash you can have the best headshot or portrait. Great for wildlife, you name what it doesn't cover exceptionally well. Yes, low light and auto-tracking are not that great.

Worst case scenario they come out with an updated/upgraded p1000 (p1100 probably knowing Nikon lmao) and you can sell it for more or less the same price you bought it for and buy the new one. You won't regret it, I know I don't.
I’m looking to find one at a reasonable price they are up to around $2500, apparently they are attractive to a collectors, so maybe a good investment go figure.
@SuperZoom very true. it has 6000 years old human dwellings, 2500yrs old living ruins and places of worship, waterfalls, wild life including largest gathering of wild elephants and the most concentrated leopard population of the world with surfing beaches. it almost got all the attraction but no nightlife due to Buddhism being the main stream religion. pop over here and enjoy.
I think the chip could be updated since we talk (for already 5 years...) of a smartphone size chip... and smartphone have now an average of 48-50 mega pixel (even 108 mega for the SamsungS23)?!
how is the video when you shoot birds in flight at 800mm to 1400mm, can you track the bird and how is it in focusing the subject? I was waiting for the new model to come out, but I never got it, I believe that the next one would be with a 1 inch sensor, I think that it should not focus on the Zoma, but the image and video quality.
So I would say its achievable but you want to have the right conditions and probably a good tripod setup. Anything moving quickly at that distance is tricky. So the sensor is always a big point of contention as the consensus seemed to be the, the bigger the sensor the bigger the camera would need to be, not really my strong point with cameras but this has been repeated to me by a few people including someone in a nikon store.
Hey Daniel, because she is a bit hefty you might want to look around on Amazon for something specific. I just carry mine loose in my backpack :D Dont do what i do.
I can’t find anything with a hard case and is big enough. The ones I’ve seen is either something like a simple foam case or something that is not big enough.
I like my P1000, but there are some very quirky settings and options, especially when you add the remote. With the remote the AE-L and AE-F seems to be back to front and when in manual focus, I would have thought that control of focus would be possible from the remote but that only works when your not recording, and then when recording it changes to exposure control +-. This is only the tip of the iceberg and I have not really figured out some of the other quirks exactly. It would be good if Nikon got this stuff together a bit more intuitively because it would make the P1000 so much more enjoyable. A bit of consistency between the recording mode and non recording mode would be nice.
I am quite happy that i didn’t grab the remote, sounds like they promised more than they delivered. You make a very valid point with the lack of support and detail they have put into their accessories and apps.
@@SuperZoomVideos But make no mistake, for what I am doing the remote is fantastic, I can zoom and pan easily with much less shaking. On hand on the remote and one hand on the tripod pan handle (if that's what you call it).
Yeah I think enough time has passed that it would be nice to see an updated model, I don’t think they need to improve the zoom any further but clean everything up and polish the other bits and pieces for sure

It will probably be replaced with the rx10 iv (v?) in a year or so, but still going to have fun with this one. Or maybe Nikon surprises everyone with 1" sensor 60x superzoom.... Nah won't happen. :)
Hi Mayan, not a lot of difference between the two, the P950 has a little less zoom and is smaller but my understanding is that it’s otherwise nearly identical

No I think there has been a shift away from these sorts of camera for the time being, swings and round abouts though, I’m sure it will come back into fashion at some point
I try to understand this review. I go from the P900 to the P1000 and quality of the photos is ever better and ofcourse RAW. Zoom and video is great and macro and specially cityscape is very good too. Landscape perfect. The photos with the P1000 are easy to edit and don't try that with a mobile phone photo. Comparing with a mobile phone is stupid. But only professional photograper say that. Buy this superzoom P1000 and you will see (if you use it good) Only take care with the VR, because that is very strong. Turn off on a tripod. Specially when you zoom in more.
Well this isnt really a review, more of an opinion piece so its good to not agree on everything. I disagree that comparing with phones is "stupid" I think its extremely relevant as they are a major reason in cameras like the P1000 losing market share. You make great points otherwise :)
So I get pulled up for this a lot to the point where it haunts me. My understanding is in Japanese it’s Knee con, but western you get a lot Nigh con. I’m doubly fucked because the kiwi accent makes our I’s and E’s sound same same so my brain just rolls out whatever it wants when im talking and this is the result 😂

WHY ARE YOU LYING TO US? The P1000 was GARBAGE since it was release in 2018. Nikon used 90% of the P900 elements to make the P1000, why do you think that the price of the P1000 was the same as the P900? They used the same miserable 1/2.3 sensor that is in the P900 so If you take the lens out the rest of the camera is a toy. You can put a 25,000mm zoom lent on a camera but is you have a 1/2.3 sensor your picture will still be garbage. The image starts degrading beyond 30 - 40 ft, low light image or video are trash, slow motion lacks and resolution is 1080p in 2024 those specs are outdated so why are you recommending this garbage? ARE YOU GETTING PAID FOR IT?

No but seriously your point about the sensor and I have asked that question of Nikon and people who are than I and the general feedback is you can’t go bigger without the cost and camera size blowing out. I’ve recently started using a Sony a6700 and immediately missed the flexibility of the P1000 even if I like the quality of the a6700. Mine is definitely looking a bit rough, I am surprised I haven't completely broken it yet.

I could see Nikon doing a "mark 2" with a better sensor. I recently used the P1000 on Safari and it was a miracle for certain situations.

The newer 2023 model looks tweeked. I remember the 2018 model used to make lot of noise when zooming during videos. The 2023 one is pretty silent

I have d7500 and sony A3lll and i am thinking about buying this camera for when i go to mountains for taking pictures of birds
It’s an excellent choice when you are dealing with inaccessible areas, would be great for mountainous terrain.

I got p1000 and p950 both are super sexy caneras but p950 much more

I'm getting tired of waiting for Canon to bring out a super-zoom that can finally replace my trusty SX50HS (you haven't heard any recent rumours by any chance?), so I may have to give the P1000 a go...
No I think there has been a shift away from these sorts of camera for the time being, swings and round abouts though, I’m sure it will come back into fashion at some point
I try to understand this review. I go from the P900 to the P1000 and quality of the photos is ever better and ofcourse RAW. Zoom and video is great and macro and specially cityscape is very good too. Landscape perfect. The photos with the P1000 are easy to edit and don't try that with a mobile phone photo. Comparing with a mobile phone is stupid. But only professional photograper say that. Buy this superzoom P1000 and you will see (if you use it good) Only take care with the VR, because that is very strong. Turn off on a tripod. Specially when you zoom in more.
Well this isnt really a review, more of an opinion piece so its good to not agree on everything. I disagree that comparing with phones is "stupid" I think its extremely relevant as they are a major reason in cameras like the P1000 losing market share. You make great points otherwise :)

You've said (KNEE-CON) and (NIGH-CON) and I've been so conflicted.
So I get pulled up for this a lot to the point where it haunts me. My understanding is in Japanese it’s Knee con, but western you get a lot Nigh con.
I’m doubly fucked because the kiwi accent makes our I’s and E’s sound same same so my brain just rolls out whatever it wants when im talking and this is the result 😂
They just need to replace the Sensor to an actual 48 MP+ Smartphone Sensor
The longer the hold off the better the tech I guess

The Nikon P1000 is great for getting closeup shots of skunks. Also photos of the moon.

Ufo's? etc, really interesting my friend, only I need to do pictures and video, but I have to put a dslr camera on mi scope.

WHY ARE YOU LYING TO US? The P1000 was GARBAGE since it was release in 2018. Nikon used 90% of the P900 elements to make the P1000, why do you think that the price of the P1000 was the same as the P900?
They used the same miserable 1/2.3 sensor that is in the P900 so If you take the lens out the rest of the camera is a toy.
You can put a 25,000mm zoom lent on a camera but is you have a 1/2.3 sensor your picture will still be garbage. The image starts degrading beyond 30 - 40 ft, low light image or video are trash, slow motion lacks and resolution is 1080p in 2024 those specs are outdated so why are you recommending this garbage? ARE YOU GETTING PAID FOR IT?

No but seriously your point about the sensor and I have asked that question of Nikon and people who are than I and the general feedback is you can’t go bigger without the cost and camera size blowing out.
I love this camera simply because it’s such a great all rounder and even if you lose quality over long distances there just isn’t an affordable alternative. I’ve recently started using a Sony a6700 and immediately missed the flexibility of the P1000 even if I like the quality of the a6700.
Will continue to recommend this camera till something better comes along
