Alright friendly folk who stumbled upon this video in the middle of the night, could I get your thoughts on my other channel? Looking for feedback, good bad or otherwise. Video below. 😬 th-cam.com/video/qo3ZiUTWx6I/w-d-xo.html
Wow. I purchased Nikon P1000 on 6th February 2024. Till now I am astonished and totally surprised at the pictures that it captures. As a beginner in photography I give all the credit to this camera for the excellent pictures in my collection
@@Splattervision-qh1sd to the best of my knowledge it is and even though the difference in zoom looks massive, in practise it’s negligible. I’ve got a few P900 vs P1000 videos kicking about which illustrate that if you are interested. P900 and P950 sharing the same zoom capability
It could be because you can actually make photos and videos far beyond what is possible if the earth was a globe. So nasa is now said to have made a contract with Nikon to work “on other things”.
Feeling so lucky that I bought the only available Nikon Coolpix P1000 from my city's Nikon authorized store, last November. I have confirmed from them that no other P1000 has arrived till now since then. Really hard to get this gem of a camera & optical zoom record shattering engineering masterpiece!
@@SuperZoomVideos Absolutely! Better to get these before they run out of stock everywhere. If Nikon doesn't release a successor & if no other company releases a competing or better model, this niche camera is sure to become a highly valued collector's item in the future.
@@vivekchoudhury6648 any way to check of the official import?? Since it's a camera shoppee even tho in tier 2 city and not some sus dealer, I hope it's not a smuggled piece 😭.
A couple of years ago I damaged my B700, and went shopping for a P1000. Every place was backorder except for a few sites on Amazon selling at a high markup. Then I got a notice of refurb available from Nikon and I jumped on it. Best investment I made. With the 3000mm equiv FL I can easily forgive small sensor size. Last year a pair of bald eagles nested near my home, I have hundreds of photos that I simply could not have gotten with a FF or APSC at ANY reasonable price (or weight) without mortgaging my home. Of course it's still pretty big. I supplemented it with a pocketable Lumix ZS80 (with 24-720 zoom). Even that sure beats a phone, but the image quality is not up to the P1000
Yeah that was the great chip shortage where they went off market for a year or so. I think you nailed it though, being able to take the photo you can’t get with any other camera that won’t cost a small house deposit is too good.
I bought my P1000 at a JB Hi-Fi clearance sale for NZ$999. The EVF is a welcome improvement over the one in the P900 but the loss of the GPS is disappointing. Snapbridge can transfer GPS coordinates from the smart phone but only degrees and minutes but not seconds just to add insult to injury. I did get Snapbridge to work once or twice but have subsequently repeatedly failed to get it to work. On balance I am enjoying using my P1000 as an all-in-one point and shoot camera.
I’m all good buddy, got one already and I’m usually too lazy to use a tripod. You should hold onto it just in case something else comes along you can use it with. Thanks though :)
@@SuperZoomVideos ok mate no worries and yeah same to lazy to bring my tripod everywhere so I made a quick release grip since I can’t find one that’s motorised 😂 and you think with today technically there could be a new super zoom camera with better sensor mega pixel and a zoom that give telescope a run for there money XD
I sort of get the sensor problem, someone explained it to me that essentially the bigger the sensor the longer and bigger the lens would need to be to achieve the same zoom. To the point where my would no longer be practical as a bridge camera. However I would have thought a UI, UX update would have been achievable. Throw in the some AI to smooth things out, give it a boost. Who knows, give it a few years.
@@SuperZoomVideos still be worth it lugging it around though maybe not XD and yeah you think there be a update to smooth things out by now hope they still have support to use SnapBridge
@@SuperZoomVideos Yea, I used to take shots with a Canon 600D mounted on a 114/900 Skywatcher telescope. But that setup is not really a portable one, hence getting excited about the P1000. Never bought one, though, too niche, but I 100% agree with OP here: we need an updated one; that I might buy!
Talked to a dealer yesterday. He recommended P950. More stable and lighter 400g less or something. and zoom almost the same in many comparaison video. Are you agree. Not to mention almost 300€ less
Haven’t used it but that is my understanding as well, the only difference is the zoom. You get used to the size and balance but your dealer is spot on.
@@Survivinglife871 its negligible, I have the P900 which has the same zoom as the P950, have done a few zoom comparison videos on this channel and it’s really not all different
I made the P1000 in the same way I would make a delicious lemonade with a single lemon and what gave me this opportunity was the availability of being able to configure the RAW file. My post-editing images, combining this RAW with my personal configuration, deliver images that even the Canon R8, 90D, R7 and RP did not deliver to me, whether near or far targets. God forgive anyone who criticizes the Nikon P1000, they don't know what they're talking about, lol... I use 3 programs, LR - PS - Topaz All Another note to colleagues here, always store your P1000 in a transparent container with a dehumidifier (humidity 40) so that it has a long useful life, free from fungi. Super Zoom, thanks also for the videos!
@@SuperZoomVideos, What a shame! I've had it for 3 years, without "chronic" problems, I live in the northeast of Brazil (coast) we have a lot of humidity here. If you don't store it in the dehumidifier, it won't last long. It depends on luck too, lol... Avoid blowing or handling with food-stained or oily hands, this prevents the fungus from feeding and proliferating. Thank you for passing on the information that Nikon will not continue with the P1000, unfortunately!
As one of "those guys, yeah those guys" I find it very suspicious indeed! I'm sure it has nothing to do with that NASA contract announced on the 29th FEB though...
The P1000 as to its uniqueness is the number one camera in the world. It is on par with eccentricity to the Sigma 200-500 F2.8 monster lens from about 12 years ago without the $20 something thousand US price tag. Personally, I’m hoping for a 24 MP version of this camera as the 16 MP is now quite dated. I love this camera, and I think others do too because it is so much photographic fun. Who has heard of a camera that can photograph things that with your own eyes, you cannot see?? Yet this camera can peer deeply into the horizon and find subjects there to photograph. Nikon may want to wait for a couple more years but if this thing has been produced for six years, then there must be a considerable number of people buying this style of camera. Cheers and always want more!!
Well, talked with pro photographs cause I hesitated with this p1000, and its not that of a dream, the big big issue would be the captor size, really small, which mean if not in full bright day the image will instantly lose quality, and zoomed picture would need tripod, and even steady the micro movements during the photo capture would make some movements, heard that the Sony Rx10 III would be clearly overall better, sure won't have the biggest zoom, i can't decide clearly what to take between these two, Heard the Lumix P2000 was really good and way less expensive but some overall manufacture qualities.
I’m currently waiting for a Nikon Coolpix P1000 due to being on back order. My Coolpix P900 broke. So, does that mean point, and shoot cameras aren’t a thing anymore?
I think the market for them has dropped off, I’ve seen a few bridge camera point and shoots released this year but I think these ultra zoom cameras are almost in their own league so let’s keep our fingers crossed for something new in the coming years
Better they cut short some zoom and put a sharp lense with 1/1.7 inch sensor and up the megapixel to 24. The large sensor will increase the picture quality specially in low light.
I had a P1000 and what put me off was the amount of noise, the zoom was fantastic, but I think the Megapixel to sensor ratio let it down. I think Nike should do the same camera P1000 Mk2, but with 1" senor and at lest 24-36 MP bit like Sony RX range.
Have you imagined the size of this construction? Like Sony RX10 IV is pretty close to the P1000 in size, but with a 25x zoom ending at 780mm. A 30x might be doable, 100x would look like people trying to handheld the Sigma 200-500 f/2.8 And it would be way to expensive for almost all interested in them. Might be the reason they are getting dropped, a RX10 V would probably be over 2000 dollars
Is there a major difference in zoom between the Nikon P1000 and P950, or is it not very significant? I'm quite confused about this. My main purposes are bird watching, mountain views, and terrestrial views. Can you help me decide which one would be a better buy? Zoom is the most important feature I'm looking for.
In the grand scheme of things not really, it’s definitely there but you at times in negligible. If you can get your hands on both got try before you buy it’s worth it. I have a few videos on the channel looking at the different between the P900 and P1000 with the P900 have identical zoom to the P950.
I think they are really good all round cameras, nothing spectacular in terms of Video quality but you be hard pressed to find an all in one camera with as much flexibility. If you can get your hands on one to try it out first, I think you will figure out if its for you.
I love the P1000, but it has some major limitations. If a competitor ever releases a similar model: The P1000's minimum aperture is only F8. Why not something like F22? Secondly the sensor is soo noisy, even at ISO100. I heavily rely on the Adobe Lightroom Classic AI noise removing tool to get usable shots at all. I know that the camera is dependent on the small sensor's crop factor to get 3000mm effective focal length. But I just hope if we get a new release there is some improvement in the sensor noise. And the finally hunting for focus contrast autofocus, especially at full zoom or low light, that sometimes takes 2 seconds to find focus and then sometimes still fails. Plus a myriad of smaller issues.
@@kwinzman They could do a better display and better SW, but the effect on image quality would be minor. Its the small sensor that makes the amazing zoom range. It is also the small sensor that limits its image quality. It why there are no other point n shoot cameras with this zoom range. Too many tradeoffs in quality.
I got one just before they went out of stock. It’s my ultimate favorite camera, so I treat it with utmost care. I am a hobbyist wildlife and bird photographer, the P1000 is all you need to get that quick shot without having to fumble around changing DSLR lenses or cameras. It takes pretty decent quality photos too at full optical zoom. It’s such a pity it’s been discontinued as so far I prefer it over my DSLR and Canon ultra zoom bridge cameras. There’s no way you can take a photo with your phone, no matter how great the camera is, if the bird or elephant you are trying to capture is on the other side of the lake.
What's next? I don't want to be pessimistic, but I think that now with the P1000 gone, P950 will likely be the last long zoom camera in the nikon series that reaches 2000mm or beyond. I do not think Nikon is interested in this category of cameras anymore because it is a specialized camera that only a specialized group of people e.g. wildlife photographers can really appreciate.
I wouldn’t recommend for a primary video camera and it struggles in low light but outside of that for the price and flexibility it’s great. I would say have a look through the photo montages I have around here or my instagram where a lot of the photos are taken by the P1000. Outside of that FB has a lot of P1000 groups to check out for samples
I have my doubts that any manufacturer is willing to invest into an ultra zoom at this juncture. The main problem is that the value proposition isn't there unless you're looking for a motorized zoom telescope which happens to have what is essentially a $150 compact camera tacked onto it. That niche undoubtedly exists, but it is very small. For everyone else, the P1000 is effectively a big and very heavy camera with a non-interchangeable lens that doesn't take particularly great pictures when compared to ILCs (for one due to its tiny sensor and second due to the fact that with increasing focal range, more and more compromises need to be made in terms of optics, impeding image quality and low-light performance). It weighs not much less than my D810 when paired with a beefy 24-120mm f/4 lens and that is a 36 MP full frame DSLR still capable of taking fantastic pictures fit for large print. A combo, that, incidentally, can be had for what a used P1000 goes on eBay, if not less (high shutter count bodies). The P1000 is absolutely a neat piece of technology and probably mops the floor with a 100 MP Hasselblad in terms of crop equivalent zooming. But it seems like a camera that one would really be better off renting for a day at a time.
P1000 has a weakness with its sensor compared to all the new tech. It's a good daylight super zoom. Picture quality drops quickly with still shots as scenes get darker. The best object shot at night is the moon. To focus on planets is frustrating. Had to use manual mode. Better mirrorless types sensors with more pixels may improve this.
I kinda thought this would happen, seems as though every time I am ready to buy or have recently purchased something it’s discontinued. No parts no warranty so basically becomes a disposable item. Know iam questioning weather I should get the p950, or is soon to go also.
I use Topaz a bit in post and it does nicely, would like to see some optional AI integrated into this camera. Would help in overcoming the smaller sensor
Aren't all cameras get discontinued after ~5-8 years? Is Nikon just making some kind of advertisement ? P1000 is from 2018..So what we would expect? To buy the same model camera after 8 years? I am sure they will come up with a new zoom camera very soon..it is about time.
That’s the tripping point, all indications from Nikon is this line ends with the P950. There is a technical barrier for this as well, you can’t really do much more on the zoom side without the camera being any bigger. One can hope though
Thanks for your video. I bought the first P1000 in my city. I have lived these years surprising people with my photos. I have no more secrets than those that any restless photographer would use, tripod, selection of parameters, knowledge of the capabilities of photographic equipment, and this model has given me more than I expected. My hope has been that NIKON would surpass the P1000, but so much time and business trends have made me lose hope. Maybe Canon, Sony or Linux will pick up the baton. Greetings from the Canary Islands.
Well, Panasonic and Olympus are good at making ultra zoom cameras with constant fast aperture! Please, dear Panasonic make 85x zoom with constant fast 2.8
Nikon is signing a contract with NASA while discontinuing the production of p1000 what a coincidence👏Globeheads are missing a lot of important signal transmitting links between their brain cells that are still undamaged.
@@SuperZoomVideostoo bad your a lying s h i l l. This camera was discontinued because they don’t want people discovering that we have been lied to about where we live. This camera gives you the opportunity to see many miles away which exposes the fact that there’s actually no curvature. We can see too far for that to be true:
That’s interesting, I’ve definitely found the opposite especially once I started utilising the raw capabilities of the P1000, have you got any examples you could share?
It’s a great point, it’s a niche product that has been somewhat eclipsed by the likes of smart phones and high end multi lens cameras. I do think if you sit on it long enough you get the benefit of nostalgia and with enough of an upgrade that niche might find itself again.
Adorama and B&H show the P1000 as "Out of Stock" but Nikon's website lists it as available in new and reurb. When Nikon sells out, prices will shoot way up on eBay. It's going to be a great camera for the upcoming eclipse. The P1000 zoom may never be replaced.
Yeah Nikon are really not my favourite company to deal with. They definitely have that rigid regimented structure to try and cut through when you want to get any information out of them. 🤦🏼♂️
Makes me not want to buy anything from Nikon because I'd be worry they're going to discontinue that product as well; we all know that as soon as any company discontinues a product,, the service and support for that product are soon discontinued as well. I think some of the executives at Nikon should get fired. What a BLUNDER Nikon!!!
I followed up on my order and they cancelled my order due to getting an internal email from nikon which explain the reason being pushed from gov and nasa! Not joking. He also noted it was due to the spy reasoning and that it was too powerful. I asked for a copy of the letter but the sales guy said he couldn't because it would threatened his job. In my opinion. The p1000 will remain king. Maybe forever. That's why I ordered 2 more and hopefully I see them. I'm in Australia. Cheers
I would have bought a newer model. The weakness of the P1000 was it's sensor. It needed a lot more pixels. It also had problems with astrophotography. The camera could not focus on planets and stars.
So I have tested many cameras, but finding a camera or a lens that is better than the Nikon p1000 is hardly possible. Maybe a future Nikon mega ultra zoom camera in 2050!! 😂😂
I bought one in Feb 2022, after a 6 month wait for one to be in stock. It takes really good planetary photos and moon shots if you have a large enough tripod.
@@SuperZoomVideos I actually use one I bought from London Camera Exchange. I think it's called Arena. I wanted to ensure it was sturdy enough, so I brought my camera to the shop and they searched for suitable ones in stock while I tried them out, and even fitted the slide in bit for me.
It’s unfortunate as there are some scenarios that smart phones haven’t been able to replicate yet which is where these bridge cameras still had a place but you are very correct
I think it's funny that Nikon signed a deal with NASA the day that the P1000 was discontinued 🤣 NASA doesn't want flat earth people to use it to prove that it is flat 🤣😂🤣🙄🤷♂️
I absolutely love my NIkon P1000. It can be improved, but I am constantly amazed at the bird pictures I can squeeze out of it with post-processing. I'm glad I have one and hope that it lasts forever. But in case it doesn't, I fervently hope that Nikon creates a successor. Nikon, if you are reading it, please eventually offer an improved version of the P1000 at a reasonable price. My birdwatching is a quantum leap more enjoyable because of the images I can capture. I am totally addicted to the 125X zoom . . . and want more, more, more. More zoom, more image quality, and more image stabilization.
You cam replace it with Canon R7 and RF200-800 with x2 extender. That FF equivalent of 2560mm with 31MP so better than the P1000 although somewhat bulky.
@@SuperZoomVideos hi, the body 1000, the lens 2200 and the extender around 500. Going forward, the lens and extender will still be good in 20 years. For testing optical quality I use near objects with small text, eg food packaging. Long distance atmospheric effects kick in so harder to judge how good the optics actually are.
I bought the P950 instead due to the tripod thread not in balance plus there's not a great deal of difference between the 2 zooms anyway I'm happy with my p950 !
It desteoys the globe. That's why. He makes a very good point, its strange that no one else has made an ultra zoom like it or exceeded the 125x zoom or Nikon haven't made another one with more zoom... I wonder why. Like he said, they're alwasy improving technology. So why haven't they or any other company improved on this zoom. Says it all.
Nope, sales of the high zoom range cameras hasn't worked out for Nikon - not many people want to lug around a lump like that with a mediocre sensor and compromised optics.
I thought it was already discontinued in 2022. So this video was a welcome surprise to me actually :D Looks like I will get repair service a little bit longer.
You were close, it was unavailable for a good chunk of 2022, I think this was primarily due to a shortage of chips but I suspect other things were hard to come by as well
I am shocked that manufacturers can't see that there is still a market for ultra-zoom cameras because phones simply cannot compete with these! Samsung may have done some marketing damage by claiming 100x (x10 optical x10 digital) but the results were atrocious and that knowledge is filtering into the mainstream. Nikon really need to release a newer version with an updated sensor plus other improvements based on the technological progress since the P1000 was introduced.
Well, talked with pro photographs cause I hesitated with this p1000, and its not that of a dream, the big big issue would be the sensor size, really small, which mean if not in full bright day the image will instantly lose quality, strong zoomed picture would Need tripod, and even steady the inner micro movements during the photo capture would make some movements, heard that the Sony Rx10 III would be clearly overall way better, sure won't have the biggest zoom, i can't decide clearly what to take between these two, Heard the Lumix P2000 was really good and way less expensive but some overall manufacture issues. Photo world is crazy in price.. and in release of products, most cameras are almost 10yo technologies, not an issue, but the prices.. damn!
All very good points mate. Having used mine for so long now I have to say the biggest benefit is versatility. I know it won’t be the best photo but I also know the guy next to me with the 10k kit is going to miss the shot because he hasn’t got the right lens on already.
My Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra phone from mid 2021, with a well tuned GCAM produces amazing zoom shots at 10x with its periscope cam module. That periscope is a little less than inch long with a small 0.5cm diameter lens. If I can get good 10x from that (cuz. of multi-frame stacking of 10-15 frames + computational photography power of GCAM + well tuned denoisers sharpening etc.), The Nikon P1000 compared to that in volume is like comparing a black bear to a mouse in size. If they really seriously worked on it and used the full power of computational photography + some high end latest Snapdragon etc. to give the most realistic looking DSLR like quality to the image (not like the smartphone photos with absolutely over processed artificial watercolory look), Maybe put in a Samsung HP9 1/1.4" 200mp sensor in there, and use different levels of binning to pull out 2x and 4x simply in-sensor zoom (like it is done in the Vivo X200Pro phone) and have 83x 2000mm native zoom lens put into it, it could give 200mp 83x shots or 166x 50mp shots or 332x 12mp shots, and digital zoom can take it further to 1328x. Another important thing is to include state of the art algorithms for removing atmospheric heat haze distortions etc. Basically I want the latest smartphone 200mp periscope tech, with the size of the nikon lens, and want the algorithms to be like a well modded GCAM with 10-15f mutistacking. Technically very much possible, but there seems to be little demand or some other obstructing forces.
Most people dont understand that the reason this is the only compact camera with this zoom range is the tiny image processor. Whih is also why its images are generally speaking sub par. There are very few things they can do to improved this. If the increase the size of the image processor (which would make its images more usable) it would significantly reduce the zoom range. The smaller the imager the more the zoom crop factor.
@@makotocole the smaller the sensor the larger the crop factor. Think of an old slide show. If you project on to a full size screen you see the whole image. If you project same image onto a screen half the size, you only see the center of the image. In effect that crop is a zoom of the original. With a larger sensor the lens has to do all the magnification. That's why high powered zoom lens s on full frame cameras are enormous.
@@curtiswrigley Hi Curt, thank you for that explanation. You did a great job explaining it in simple terms. I now understand. I guess they hit a nice sweet spot with zoom range and image processing here (with a tad bit in favor of zoom range). Thank you!
Ok, but WHY has he zoomed 94 kilometres without a curve? We should not be seeing those buildings in Fuji city and beyond at that distance at his height of 200 metres. Thats a real genuine question.
Great video. The P1000 was on my list for so long until i discovered the P950 and thats the one im going to buy. Sacraficing the zoom sure but given my old cmera is a x24 zoom and the p950 is x83 im still gonna be impressed and it will so much easier carrying the thing 😄 Im also amazed that there is no upgrade in over 4 years.
@SuperZoomVideos I love taking pictures of the moon etc so yes I did think the bigger zoom might be best for this but you can only fit so much in the picture anyway when zooming in. I do a lot more photography during my walks though so definitely the size will play a huge part 🙂
A size of a DJI Pocket 3 has 1" sensor! I mean, if Nikon really wanted to make a killer flagship with this one, they could have just pulled the same with P1000 along GPS, Touchscreen and a OIS + EIS combo to even take better shots in low light. Low light with all the bridge cam sucks due to their small sensor size and no internal post processing. This would have completely stolen the spotlights even from other APSC Sensor imo.
I talked to someone working at a Nikon store in Singapore about the sensor size and a few people here have commented about this over the years, apparently to have a bigger sensor while maintaining the focal zoom would require an even larger lens, not sure if that’s is something that can be overcome in time but that seemed to be the consensus
@@SuperZoomVideos yeah that might make sense why all the sensor size in superzoom bridgecam are always almost same at 1/2.3". Thanks for mentioning that. Btw great vids man, you got a sub. Hope to watch more contents like these.
Thanks mate, was trying this format out here but most of the videos like this one will be over at the Alternative channel. Mostly zoom videos here :) Cheers all the same for the support
Owning a P1000, it is more a telescope with a camera than a camera with a super zoom lens, the reason why I bought it. Any gadget that has been out in the market for 5 years is old now and retires. Hopefully, there will be a replacement with a 3000 mm equivalent soon.
My P1000 is way sharper than it has a right to be up to 2,500 mm. The lens is absolutely awesome but the body could be reconfigured to work a little more like Nikon's current mirrorless bodies.
After a year search i finaly found one brand new, forgotten in an warehouse in a romanian foto store. So for evreyone looking for a brand new one, try the eastern Europe country’s. There is a chance you’ll find one brand new!
Hello, could you try to make a video by the sea but zooming in on the side of the beach. We might be able to see people 5km away or more... Thanks in advance!
Those guys are the reason it's gone/Nikon got a good slapping. Our occult central controller have a enough to deal with, taking down the US$ Ponzi they set up at Breton woods/44, and priming war/financial collapse to transition, the debt salves, to a CBDC and social credit system, to be worrying about people using handy optics that assist proving that there is no measurable curve, on our flat/motionless closed Earth system.
Its the globe killer, u can see so far with it, that actually dismisses the curve of the earth. Thats the problem, in my opinion. I already bought one second hand.

Yeah JB was the one place I always saw a price drop but 999 is bloody amazing. Snapbridge is best left unspoken about.
SnapBridge is a travesty

Hey I just got a new quick release it’s like a version 2 for the Nikon coolpix p1000 and was wondering if you would like the version 1

Nikon signed a deal with Nasa to develop Lunar Artemis camera on Feb 29th then next day they announced they discontinue the P1000 camera.
Interesting.
Yup. The videos of objects visible far beyond the “curvature” of the Earth were popping up all over the internet. 🤔
What is better to buy? New p950, or used p1000
Given the option I lean towards new, also depends how used the P1000 is.
I would opt for the 950 everytime
I made the P1000 in the same way I would make a delicious lemonade with a single lemon and what gave me this opportunity was the availability of being able to configure the RAW file. My post-editing images, combining this RAW with my personal configuration, deliver images that even the Canon R8, 90D, R7 and RP did not deliver to me, whether near or far targets. God forgive anyone who criticizes the Nikon P1000, they don't know what they're talking about, lol...
I use 3 programs, LR - PS - Topaz All
Another note to colleagues here, always store your P1000 in a transparent container with a dehumidifier (humidity 40) so that it has a long useful life, free from fungi.
Super Zoom, thanks also for the videos!
You take way better care of your stuff than I do 😂 might be why my P1000 doesn’t work so good anymore
Suspicious is it not to retire such a zoom cam on top of the game.
Doesnt make any sense.
If there is manufacturing limitations I guess it makes sense to manufacture something that you can sell for a higher price?
@@SuperZoomVideos does that have to do with semi conductor shortage i am waiting for next superzoom camera using nikon p900
As one of "those guys, yeah those guys" I find it very suspicious indeed! I'm sure it has nothing to do with that NASA contract announced on the 29th FEB though...
The technology is dated, Microprocessors have a very limited manufacturing life.
Also very suspicious that Nikon have recently signed a mega deal with NASA! 🤔
Agreed, I think at its core they just need to polish the diamond they already have
Well, talked with pro photographs cause I hesitated with this p1000, and its not that of a dream, the big big issue would be the captor size, really small, which mean if not in full bright day the image will instantly lose quality, and zoomed picture would need tripod, and even steady the micro movements during the photo capture would make some movements, heard that the Sony Rx10 III would be clearly overall better, sure won't have the biggest zoom, i can't decide clearly what to take between these two, Heard the Lumix P2000 was really good and way less expensive but some overall manufacture qualities.
I’m currently waiting for a Nikon Coolpix P1000 due to being on back order. My Coolpix P900 broke. So, does that mean point, and shoot cameras aren’t a thing anymore?
I think the market for them has dropped off, I’ve seen a few bridge camera point and shoots released this year but I think these ultra zoom cameras are almost in their own league so let’s keep our fingers crossed for something new in the coming years
You have to find a used one
Better they cut short some zoom and put a sharp lense with 1/1.7 inch sensor and up the megapixel to 24. The large sensor will increase the picture quality specially in low light.
Sounds good to me
Sony makes a 50X or 60X camera with 1inch senser.
@@charliezicolillo should make
I suggest a 1" sensor.
Is it worth the extra cost for p1000 instead of p950? Is there a big difference between them?
Depends what you want to use it for? If the distance isn’t everything for you than the P950 will be just fine :)
I had a P1000 and what put me off was the amount of noise, the zoom was fantastic, but I think the Megapixel to sensor ratio let it down. I think Nike should do the same camera P1000 Mk2, but with 1" senor and at lest 24-36 MP bit like Sony RX range.
Nike?
Have you imagined the size of this construction? Like Sony RX10 IV is pretty close to the P1000 in size, but with a 25x zoom ending at 780mm.
A 30x might be doable, 100x would look like people trying to handheld the Sigma 200-500 f/2.8
And it would be way to expensive for almost all interested in them.
I've been looking at buying one for awhile now. Are they worth the money.
Been using a Nikon D1000 with 2 lenses
I think they are really good all round cameras, nothing spectacular in terms of Video quality but you be hard pressed to find an all in one camera with as much flexibility. If you can get your hands on one to try it out first, I think you will figure out if its for you.
I love the P1000, but it has some major limitations. If a competitor ever releases a similar model:
The P1000's minimum aperture is only F8.
Yes to everything you mentioned, a lot of that I feel could be overcome with an updated version of the camera.
To fix image quality they need to increase the sensor size. That would reduce the zoom significantly
@@curtiswrigley The sensor is at least 6 years old. There should be some quality improvements even without changing the sensor size.
Agree with everything. I’ve started using a Sony A6700 and the biggest drawback is the lack of flexibility.
I agree, I would hope somewhere down the line someone takes this on again but for now I can see the P950 being the last man standing for a while
Replacement?
Nothing yet, can only hope?
I wonder is there a way to change sensor or remove this lens and combine with other modern cameras?
I’m sure Nikon would probably lose their mind if they found out but if someone is smart enough I don’t see why not
Discontinued ?? Why? Seems like they dont want us to have Super Zoom Cameras?

I think you have nailed it there, I’d love to see another affordable ultra zoom camera but it’s hard to picture where that comes from.
Spot on, it’s really a question for how much you can shell out for that better quality
I kinda thought this would happen, seems as though every time I am ready to buy or have recently purchased something it’s discontinued. No parts no warranty so basically becomes a disposable item. Know iam questioning weather I should get the p950, or is soon to go also.
I’m hoping it doesn’t go anywhere soon but everything has a shelf life.
The question today is: When will there be a new P camera designed to take advantage of the capabilities of Topaz Photo AI ??
No, they are working on the P1000 II as Lumix just released FZ80D in July 2024.
Here’s hoping

I am shocked that manufacturers can't see that there is still a market for ultra-zoom cameras because phones simply cannot compete with these! Samsung may have done some marketing damage by claiming 100x (x10 optical x10 digital) but the results were atrocious and that knowledge is filtering into the mainstream.
If I can get good 10x from that (cuz. of multi-frame stacking of 10-15 frames + computational photography power of GCAM + well tuned denoisers sharpening etc.),
The Nikon P1000 compared to that in volume is like comparing a black bear to a mouse in size.
If they really seriously worked on it and used the full power of computational photography + some high end latest Snapdragon etc. to give the most realistic looking DSLR like quality to the image (not like the smartphone photos with absolutely over processed artificial watercolory look),
Maybe put in a Samsung HP9 1/1.4" 200mp sensor in there, and use different levels of binning to pull out 2x and 4x simply in-sensor zoom (like it is done in the Vivo X200Pro phone) and have 83x 2000mm native zoom lens put into it, it could give 200mp 83x shots or 166x 50mp shots or 332x 12mp shots, and digital zoom can take it further to 1328x.
I’m hoping there will come a time
If they don't make an upgraded model, it's an opportunity for another company to get into the zoom camera business.
Would love to see it
Most people dont understand that the reason this is the only compact camera with this zoom range is the tiny image processor. Whih is also why its images are generally speaking sub par. There are very few things they can do to improved this. If the increase the size of the image processor (which would make its images more usable) it would significantly reduce the zoom range. The smaller the imager the more the zoom crop factor.
Well said mate
Can you explain this more? Why can’t the sensor be bigger?
Thank you!
@@curtiswrigley I need to save this explanation somewhere :D
HOORAY FLAT EARTHERS!!!!
love my p1000. a bit lens heavy when extended but the zoom is fantastic. a remote is a must as is a tripod.😊
I do regret not ever grabbing a remote
Ok, but WHY has he zoomed 94 kilometres without a curve? We should not be seeing those buildings in Fuji city and beyond at that distance at his height of 200 metres. Thats a real genuine question.
Great video. The P1000 was on my list for so long until i discovered the P950 and thats the one im going to buy. Sacraficing the zoom sure but given my old cmera is a x24 zoom and the p950 is x83 im still gonna be impressed and it will so much easier carrying the thing 😄
Im also amazed that there is no upgrade in over 4 years.
That really is the only trade off between the two so as long as your preference is the smaller form factor, you are onto a winner
@SuperZoomVideos I love taking pictures of the moon etc so yes I did think the bigger zoom might be best for this but you can only fit so much in the picture anyway when zooming in.
I do a lot more photography during my walks though so definitely the size will play a huge part 🙂
Sounds like the perfect choice :)
Love my Nikon P1000... Photos are amazing 🤩
What sort of photos are you taking?
Mostly zoom videos here :)
Cheers all the same for the support
Sur Nikon France il est toujours à la vente et en stock en juillet 2024.
That’s good, I’ve just seen them slowly vanish here in NZ
Owning a P1000, it is more a telescope with a camera than a camera with a super zoom lens, the reason why I bought it. Any gadget that has been out in the market for 5 years is old now and retires. Hopefully, there will be a replacement with a 3000 mm equivalent soon.
I really just want some updated UI and maybe some polish on the raw and 4K.
My P1000 is way sharper than it has a right to be up to 2,500 mm. The lens is absolutely awesome but the body could be reconfigured to work a little more like Nikon's current mirrorless bodies.
I would love them to take a shot at an upgraded model with the same zoom
After a year search i finaly found one brand new, forgotten in an warehouse in a romanian foto store. So for evreyone looking for a brand new one, try the eastern Europe country’s. There is a chance you’ll find one brand new!
Well done mate, they are few and far between but still exist!
Good news. I have one. 🤑
Good man!
I still have mine and id buy a new one if its more powerful
Yeah I think I might as well
New sensor , 150 X zoom, Nikon P 1000 mk II.....
That would be lovely
Come back p1000 I love this camra
I want something new in the near future!
You and me both my friend
Still waiting for P2000
Me to mate
Nikon should retry a 1" camera. We need competition in Sony RX10 area.
No problem purchasing it in europe
Strangely enough spotted one in store today after not seeing any for months.
Stupid Nikon...I have a P900 (with GPS). Love it! I was hoping on the P1100 also with GPS... (no they just stopped...)
I will hold hope that in few years they decide to get back on the horse with all the bells and whistles
"Yea.... Those guys..." Lol
😬
It all makes sense now !!!! NASA = not a space agency 🤡
Madam bought payed em to discounted it …
I hate that I understood most of this
Those guys are why it's discontinued bud...you know it. Take a look at those fine shots of the 'planets'...right blah blah blah...
“Those guys” are the guys that don’t just believe what governments say, and aren’t afraid to question and research on their own.
Yup, that is the impression that I get. 🫤
No, they do not research on their own. Instead they decided to just believe what flat earth youtube videos say and don't question that.
I’m not one myself, but I’ve met them and they tend to know more about the globe model than most people, and likely you as well.
those guies love p900...good enough for that purpose))
Why are you bashing flat-earthers?
Goodness me, “those guys” is hardly a derogatory term.
They discontinued it because they have a new contract with NASA and it says they have to discontinue this camera
Source?
Lol that's funny and exactly what the flatopians are saying, They provide so much free comedy.
@@dogwalker666 when did I say flat🤣🤣
@@dogwalker666 that’s like me calling you a nonceopian🤣
@@CriticalcritiC432 Where did I say you were? Perhaps re read my comment, oopsies 🤦🏻♂️
Because its FLAT 😂
They got the call from NASA
5 years into production?
@@SuperZoomVideos I think so after flat earth got super popular in the last few years
@ it’s always been like this mate. I’ve been hearing it from day 1.
Hello, could you try to make a video by the sea but zooming in on the side of the beach. We might be able to see people 5km away or more... Thanks in advance!
Have a look through the catalogue there is bound to be something that covers that
@@SuperZoomVideos Yep, I found something ! Thanks ! 😊
As one of "those guys" - GFY.
*Hug*
Those guys are the reason it's gone/Nikon got a good slapping. Our occult central controller have a enough to deal with, taking down the US$ Ponzi they set up at Breton woods/44, and priming war/financial collapse to transition, the debt salves, to a CBDC and social credit system, to be worrying about people using handy optics that assist proving that there is no measurable curve, on our flat/motionless closed Earth system.
Its the globe killer, u can see so far with it, that actually dismisses the curve of the earth. Thats the problem, in my opinion. I already bought one second hand.
A cheap telescope can see way further than a P1000 😂
