I have a Hoya UV & IR filter on mine. The reason is that at 16MP the file size/characteristics relative to “bigger” cameras is limited, so, it is important to get the very best out of the P1000 by enhancing the light it receives. I also have a Nikon cord trigger to minimise shake-blur. Stability is important, so I have a Manfrotto twin leg tripod with a large fluid head so as to get more aiming control at higher FL. I love the P1000 as it is such a unique offering to the market and I hope Nikon keep the series alive with some more megapixels on the sensor and some higher spec software. A larger sensor might be the go too but designed to get at least 2500mm FL. Cheers
Hi bud. I just purchased my P1000, the shop in town had a little Kings birthday discount. I'm looking forward to having a play with it. Still getting my setup sorted ie tripod, mounts and basic accessories. I appreciate your videos! Pretty keen on that qr mount you recommended. How's it holding up? Cheers, From West Auckland 👍🏼
Hey mate, good thing catching it on discount. I had notice JB and Noel Leemings tend to drop the price a few times through the year. Good fun if you take it up one of the volcanoes to have a play. The mount is good, I just need to get used to it getting caught on things (I’m lazy and don’t remove it) other than that it’s pretty handy.
I newly got this camera , everything looks great, my only concern is about the quality of the images ,this camera is 16 mp and I think it’s not good enough.
You will lose quality the further you zoom but yes by todays standards 16mp is probably a little low, just remember it’s 5 years + at this point since release
I started with a second hand P900.... it came with a lens clamp because the tripod screw had pulled out...!!!.. and a great idea about the dongle, the amount of times i've had to reinstall Snapbridge and/ or reset the camera..!!!!!!!
Great video. Thanks for the helpful tips. Saw your pet bird or was it digitally edited too 😅Which one is it? Of all the accessories listed I have the #1 yay! And it’s taking me to Australia this summer. Excited!
Hey Yanky, yes so long as it’s compatible with whatever you are using it on you should have access to the SD card files and the footage/photos on it. You might want to check what is compatible with your phone before you get one
Great video.. I already have a card reader that plugs into the lightning connector of my Iphone/Ipad and a passport… I just ordered the quick release plate and will look into an external mic. The Topaz AI software appears to be only for desktop, not iPhone/iPad.. are there any IOS enhancing apps you would recommend? And was that a pigeon on your kitchen counter?
Hey Colman! Thanks for watching 😁 I have only really used Topaz so I can’t comment outside of that space, I see a lot of stuff advertised on FB but honestly who knows 🤷🏼♂️ a lot of video and photo editing software embrace some level of AI so you might want to look into what’s around as more of a package deal, when I do edit on my iPad I still lean towards LumaFusion. Pigeon……what pigeon…..madness 🙃
Thanks to Joel Schat for the Quick Release Plate,
If you are on the market for one you can check out his store below.

Thanks for taking time to show us these, anyone know the best flash & trigger for off camera work?
Thanks :) I can’t answer that question as I use neither but I find the FB groups tend to be a knowledgeable bunch

Very nice Channel! Good info and vids!
Thanks for stopping in Victor!
Just came across your videos! I’m ordering the 1000 in a a few days!! And definitely want the tripod and this sick mount to go along with it. Thanks!
Hope you enjoy it Relic, really fun camera to play around with
So which tripod suggested for plate?
Nothing specific on my end but something with a ball head that is weighted for this big girl, FB might be a better source of info on this

Thanks for this. I’ve been looking for mount since I got mine. It was out of stock when I was looking. Now ordered it so fingers crossed 🤞
Awesome mate, let’s keep Joel busy 😂
I received mine and it fits like a glove on my P1000. I keep it on permanently as it appears molded right into the body and doesn't get in the way.
I have that quick release plate, very useful
I don’t know how I haven’t broken my camera without one.

What exactly does a dongle for SD card do?
Can I connect that to a cell phone and get direct access to my footage?
