    I love my 23 Hrv, very nice car for the price. For those of you who have never drove one you should. All the silly lack of power comments just shows how many people form opinions without actually having even been in one. It has no problems keeping up with other traffic anywhere, anytime. But someone on the internet said it, so it must be true ;)

    Overall, I like the HR-V but wish Honda would up the power. I don't think 158 hp is enough. This vehicle needs the 1.5T engine with 180 hp. Some might argue that this vehicle with 180 hp would encroach upon CR-V sales. The CR-V needs about 220 hp. I'm a lifelong Honda/Acura fan but my main gripe with them is that they are often too conservative with their power outputs. Honda, if you read this: We want more power! You are building vehicles with really good chassis that drive very well. Just need more power. That's my one complaint.

    This seems like a really nice new model, but honestly as an owner of a 2021 HR-V, it misses some of the key selling points that made me buy mine in the first place. The Magic Seats are something I use almost every day, the cargo capacity is freakishly large for such a small vehicle - the new one is much bigger outside while being smaller inside - it’s more agile and easier to park, and the fuel economy is actually rated higher in the old model too. Don’t get me wrong, it needed a redesign and some more refinement, but it’s a shame they sucked some of the character out of the model.

    This HRV sold me on Honda and I just picked up a 2024 EX-L. I just drove in 5” of snow and it handled conditions perfectly. The interior is incredible and a great new design. I’ve owned many Toyota and Lexus but this is by far the best interior. Maybe it’s because my other car is a Jeep Wrangler but I don’t have any issue with the engine power. A hybrid model in the future would steal the show from CRV so maybe Honda is holding out on that. My EXL fully loaded with leather, sunroof, all safety was priced at $29.5k before all the tax/doc. In this new market, that’s a great value.

The car pins the RPM at around 6000 RPM and the cars launches forward pretty fast. I'm sure it still works on these newer honda cvts. Works on the new Civic and the 10th gen Civic as well, the car accelerates faster as soon as i put it in S and i also do it at 4000rpm, launching in D and then shifting it to S at 4000rpm is the method to get the fastest 0-100km/h time in a Civic 1.5 Turbo. But when i am rolling downshifting with the paddle shifter is even better, it gives even more of a slingshot effect. But the Civic doesn't stay pinned, it does simulated shifts which is better as staying pinned gets annoying after a while and as it is turbo charged so it doesn't have to stay pinned to get the best performance.

The simulated shifts also help as it doesn't stay pinned at 6500rpm, it keeps on shifting like a regular automatic, it has 7 simulated gears and that helps because it doesn't stress the engine much.

    • @adamesd3699

      I test drove one yesterday. It actually wasn’t that slow. Lost some oomph at highway speeds, but other than that felt peppy.
      But the one I drove was front wheel drive and they’re driving an AWD, which might make a difference.

  • @adamesd3699
    @adamesd3699 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I test drove this, but a front wheel drive version. At low speeds it was actually pretty peppy. The engine only felt a bit weak at highway speeds, but it was still adequate.
    Handling, noise, comfort, were all very good. Buttons and functions were also fine, except I couldn’t figure out how to tell the tire pressure. Maybe it doesn’t have that?
    Interior space is very good, for both front and rear seats, except that Honda lowered the rear seats a bit.
    This is NOT a sub-compact SUV. It’s the size of compact SUVs like the Mazda CX-5 or the previous generation Hyundai Tucson / Kia Sportage. The only category where the HRV definitely loses to compact SUVs is in rear cargo space. If you need to carry a lot of stuff, you’d be happier with a CRV, RAV4, Tucson/Sportage, Forester, or Rogue.

    • @Baggged_LC
      @Baggged_LC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Being front wheel drive not much drive-train lost, wait till u drive the AWD, with driveshaft and rear diff, it’ll probably put down 109HP to the wheels 😆

    Love my 2021 hrv sport but this new one is kind of lacking character. Originally liked the concept sketches but when it came out it looked a little odd. Also miss the hidden door handle that is on my current hrv, it made it stand out from all the other vehicles unlike this new design. My biggest complaint about the new design though is that it’s bigger than the previous version. The old one was a great size and was nice and nimble to drive.

    • @mcherylyn
      @mcherylyn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, highly disappointed in the new exterior look...I also mourn the loss of the hidden rear door handle and the magic rear seats. I am moving on to the Mazda CX-30 since cargo or backseat room are not important for me, but styling is.

    I think Honda is missing the best of HR-V redesign in the other markets: the 1.5L turbo motor that delivers 20 more HP. The redesigned 2022 HR-V of European, Asian and South American market still based in the Fit platform, but more fun than dull underpowered 2023 American market new model. With 1.5 turbo motor from Civic would be better competitor to VW Taos and closer to Mazda CX 30 turbo.
