The box test is far more important than the external decibel test. In fact, the box test is one of the best things you do, since no one else online provides such a great cross-shoppable/comparable method of measuring real-world storage capacity. If you're going to test decibels, it needs to be the interior decibels, since that's what you live with as the driver every day. Unless you're talking about an exotic supercar or a muscle car, no one cares how the car sounds from the outside.
Keep the box test forever. Apply the decibel test to the interior, not the exterior.

My calling! hey guys acoustic test engineer here. love the addition of the sound pressure level test. Glad you guys are not using a cellphone mic for the test, a dedicated microphone is 100x better. overall the metric is ok (so long as the same person is doing the 4 steps away) you guys seem to be measuring peak sound level so anything with crackles and pops (the fun stuff) might be in the 98-100dB range and isnt really comparable. ,little nerdy sound fact: Decibels are actually a logarithmic ratio and thus unitless. you can have decibels for sound, velocity, voltage, acceleration anything really. but the key little nerd fact for what your measuring is that every doubling of distance is only -3dB. so if you went 8 steps away from the Honda element, you would get a measurement of 74dB... 16 steps 71dB. also keep an eye on whats behind the camera and mic because you might get a false reading if there is a wall behind you due to reflection. Love the content keep of the great work and thank you for the little soap box for an acoustic rant

Well transmission issues that was the number 1 issue with both vehicles then letters just kept coming I mean everything from distance to empty the miles could be wrong to the door locks being messed up and the doors could pop open on their own. Fast Forward I paid my Ford Focus off May 2021 car has been fine absolutely no problems with it at all I mean it's running just as smooth as a hot knife through butter. Fast Forward to Dec 30th 2021 I smell a burning smell then smoke starts rolling out of the front passenger side air vents. I pull the car over in a wide spot. I just got it put into park when flames started shooting out of the passenger side air vents. I cut the car off take the keys out and get out of the car and get myself very far away from the car. The airbags blew out and up all the glass blew out even the side mirrors the middle console completely melted the automatic gear shifter stick thing melted the metal thing inside of the shifter burnt melted and warped. Trunk flew open by itself and the jack that was in the trunk that came with the car. Never been used never taken out when the gas tank blew it blew the jack out of the trunk and sent it flying up into the front driver seat of the car the firefighters said they had no clue how that happened exactly. I like the styling of both, and the extra power and LSD in the Si would be great, but I love the practicality of the hatch, plus the Sport Touring trim is basically loaded and has all the features I'd like in a new car. Great video. Thank you! I've watched a couple of your videos with the new Civic and others from other people and so many people seem to shun the 2.0L engine and I just wanted to voice my opinion on that since I just got a new 23 Civic Sport Hatch in boost blue pearl with the 2.0L and the 6 speed MT. I love this engine. I just traded in a 2020 Sport Sedan that had the 6 Speed and 2.0L engine and loved that one too. I think the only drawback compared to the 1.5L Turbo is off the line speed which isn't that important to me anymore. The 2.0 is a VERY smooth engine and can get up and go when you want it to (enough for everyday "spirited" driving and passing on the highway etc). I also think there is a longevity advantage to having a larger non-turbo motor.... I may be wrong on that, but if I can't get another manual gearbox when my 3 year lease is up, I'll be keeping this one and driving it a long time, so after that I'll know for sure ;) And I mean no disrespect to the 1.5. Everyone seems to love it. But I do prefer the 2.0 for the reasons mentioned, and I also like that it's cheaper (around 5k cheaper than the sport touring) while still being fun to drive. Oh and mine still fits as many boxes too, so that's good, right?
