    Bach was first “Jazz” musician on the planet. Downbeat should honor him every year for what he brought to the thinking creative musicians who followed his mindset of the mechanics of creativity in any form of music !

      If possible, listen to Bach fugues like Fugue in B minor, Fugue in G minor. Now You will get the idea of Oscars composition to resemble Bach in swing feel. Humbly I would say, yes there is co-incidence. Pure Genius. No other words

      the second piece i feel like especially resembles the harmonic movement of bach and the counterpoint between the bass and piano at 4:08 is similar to bach. I am by no means an expert though

      Absolutely!
      Ask yourself if there is even ONE J.S. Bach composition that is not uplifting, creative and complete -whilst inviting even further variations? My favorite example being the Brandenburg Concertos -a whole word to explore.

    • @alana1563
      @alana1563 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Brian Kate Johnstone Every serious student in Western Classical Music has to study J.S. Bach, it is a must. His music has been studied by great composers that came after him like Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Wagner etc. He was the composer's composer. But unfortunately most people find his music more complex and harder to understand than Mozart's or Beethoven's but nevertheless the Western Classical Music profession consider him the grandest figure which until today remains unsurpassed. Imagine the possibilities if Bach were born today with all the synthesized sounds. Don't you just find his Fugues fascinating and enlightening?
