The fact that he hasn't gotten one lesson in his life with this... This is pretty darn great.
oh
Kenia Vaquiz I have to agree with you there ... The fact he can play without a lesson is pretty darn great, that's why I love Mike Fuentes so much.
Not too hard with drums. I guess I mean it happens a lot with people being self taught. It's a common thing that exists in the drumming community
Gabe Romero for the most part, yeah i agree. drums is pretty easy to teach to yourself depending on the style. and if anything in this day and age all you need to do to learn a technique is go on youtube or if you know how to read sheet music look at the charts.
Goes/fits well with the DIY ethics of punk culture
NOBODY NOTICED HE ONLY USES ONE BASS PEDAL HOLY SHIT AND THE ENERGY HE USES HOW IS HE NOT TIRED JESUS CHRIST
If you practice one hour a day all days it's really easy, you get used to your pedal and also you can use a faster drum pedal and bla bla bla for faster kicks
+Ms.Creeper 48 yah well i thought you were supposed to pedal with your heel and practiced it for 2 months... well a month ago i went to a music store and i sat on the drums well imaging my disappointment when i realized u were supposed to pedal with the tip of the foot XD well i practiced pedaling like that for the whole month and i finally learnt and im starting my classes in 5 days wish me luck HEHE
josh DUN DUN DUN that is what happened to me lol. But what I usually do is I lift my foot up. It mames it a lot easier
awesome
+josh DUN DUN DUN Well all ways are correct. It just depends on what style of music you are playing. Rock, Metal, Hardcore, etc... they most generally lift the foot and bury the beater. Playing Jazz you will almost always play heel down and not bury the beater. Good luck with those classes.
i don't think people realise this but mike wasn't taught drums as a kid, him and Vic were self taught (or the help of their dad).... so touring the world because you taught yourself the drums is a lot better than what everyone is commenting.
luke holland is like half this guys age and is millions of lifetimes better than this guy lol. just because he's self taught doesn't make him the best drummer in the world...
That explains his awful technique causing him to lose so much energy while playing simple patterns. The passion is there hell ya. But I grow tired of drummers bragging about how they were self taught. Who really cares? It's like a shameful thing to be taught drums anymore by a teacher. Screw sheet music I mean REALLY being taught how to play drums. I have been getting trained for 4 years and have no shame at all. We all need a teacher or mentor to get us to higher avenues, if not we just settle for mediocre.
Yes but he grew up in a different time, probably has more money for and so on.... Luke Holland was self taught as well.
And finally, i never stated that being self taught automatically makes you the best drummer in the world... if anything, you should be embarrassed to say that... that's why i don't tell people i'm self taught :P
Yeah that makes sense. I am not saying YOU stated that. I just have heard that a lot from other musicians. It's like a status thing to be cool and not taught by a teacher. I don't get it haha.
djent is totally a genre No one has claimed he is the best drummer in the world? Luke Holland is great, but what he's saying is Mike doesn't deserve all this hate. Luke and many other drummers grew up in different times and with different cultures. Him and Vic were poor and they grew up in the mexican culture. His dad didn't exactly teach him metal drumming on an expensive drumset. He might not be the best, but he's great, he's passionate and he deserves everything he has.
My legs feel exhausted just watching this. Damn
Look up Paul Mazurkiewicz drum cam, trust me, you'll want to rip your legs off
check out zach hill, his legs is abnormal and fucking insane, he use single pedal but sounds crazy
He only uses one leg for bass drum too
Anggera Prasetyo louis cole.
I want to clear something up, to every one saying that he didn't deserve the best drummer award.. HE DID! He deserved every bit of it! Sure maybe Mike doesn't have the best technique or stick control, but damn does this man have soul. Pierce the veil is my favorite band, and I admire them so much. Being that he hasn't had a single lesson and was taught by his father is so cool. He has so much passion, and you can just see and feel his love for the drums through a screen. So please, don't make rude comments about him, because he is a talented guy.
lunatic man hitting some circles omg i love him
this only showed me that Mike doesn't skip leg day
haha I thought the same
Awesome
Wait does he go really fast with the bass drum? I probably missed it. Where?
+Daniel Rizzo the whole song
He looks like the Mexican version of Travis Barker!!
That's because he is Mexican and he's literally the Travis of emo music 😂❤
Ray Martinez he IS a Mexican Travis Barker. No joke he’s actually Mexican.
his facial expressions that he makes are so amusing aw
Amazing drumming, the perfect drummer for PTV! :D
He's such a monster at the drums! Love him so much!
I won't sit here and call him the greatest drummer on earth, because he's not, just like myself. But, he does his job very well in Pierce the Veil. Not a band I like, but it's always good to see a drummer who fits the music perfectly.
I really admire how much energy he has to play through every song on the set. It's really not easy keeping that energy through out.
Why is everyone thinking this is a competition? I can honestly say I have enjoyed watching all these break down series videos cause they showcase drumming, meanwhile all you are getting asshurt cause some people dont like your favorite drummer wtf xD just enjoy the damn music
i agree
Everyone is so competitive in this comments and I'm just gonna say: Mike and Vic will be balds c:
Lailarrawww meh. pre-mature balding runs in their blood! haha
Nothing that hair plugs can't fix. I saw Joey from NSYNC in the commercials he looked good!
Relevant
Who cares they'll still be amazing
Well mike is already bald now
only an idiot would say that mike fuentes isn't a great drummer. he has heart and passion into everything that he does and he does it so fluently. Fuentes is a great drummer indeed but i do not think he's better than matt greiner
As far as overall musicality and technique, Greiner definitely has the upper hand
Alfonso Quintanilla keep in mind the amount of sound and quality Mike creates based on what he has. Ever seen the amount of drums greiner brings on stage? A lot compared to mike.
I'm prety sure Greiner uses a 5pc but I do think he has more cymbals
I'm not saying Mike is bad or anything, but I was watching Matt before this
You're right. But neither of them are close to Chris Turner😂
This is mesmerizing, seriously! I couldn't keep my eyes off of it until he finished, Mike is an amazing drummer, wish I could see them live.
This guys a fucking monster, I feel like he's the one that puts the most energy in the concert (every band member comes with full energy) but Mike is in the back just destroying the drums every time like he never gets tired. Must be the best workout :)
Damn I can feel Mike's energy through my phone pfffff
I had to go back to realize that the "WOO!' was Mike oml. It was so high pitched to me lol.
Shelby Frahm when was that I didn't hear it
Eve Cotter let me see if I can find it for you lol.
Eve Cotter go to 1:10
It was so perfect with the song
This guy's a fucking monster. I feel like Mike puts the most energy out in concerts (every band member comes out with 100% energy) but Mike is just in the back destroying the drums every time like he's never tired. Must be the best cardio workout :)
He's insane at drumming. I hope to get to his level one day
4 years later and I still love this
I had to re watch this video because I could only stare at his hair omf
Awesome
Omg same
I'm Not the only one xD
He play with his heart and soul
I'm surprised Mike is so skinny, playing drums should work out your arms like crazy - especially when you're a drum legend like Mike is.
Well, to be fair, drumming is more cardio, drumming doesn't really offer any resistant training unless your use REALLY HEAVY sticks. But overall, yea, drumming is one hell of a workout
@@mohammedrehman514 well said, drumming is a lot more like running than it is lifting so theres not as much muscle build but a lot of exercise nun the less
@@ggburr7516 the fact it looks so easy but it’s actually hard
The thing I love with mike is he Plays with heart and passion.
hes not just there to play but to enjoy also
This is awesome. Mike is one of my favorite drummers. I hope to play music like this someday, but it doesn't really fit the band I'm in now.
Also, hating on other drummers isn't cool. We all play different types of music and at different skill levels, so we all need to worry about ourselves first.
I believe in you! Go for it :D
SimonDropDeadPlease
Thanks dude! I'm working on it! :D
Yas I love seeing him on the bangos
PEOPLE. We GET it. He is self taught and he won the drummer of year award. Nothing you say is gonna change that now stop repeating the hundred comments and say something other than "him and Vic were self taught blah blah"
I get what you're saying haha especially the last part
@@alfredbastidos3454 I don't think you got what he was saying, smh. He wasn't dissing Mike in any way lol
Finally! A drummer that goes out to perform and has a blast and it shows thru his playing! Awesome drum video !
I love this video. Mike is so talented.
There is nothing to dislike about this.
He is one my favorite drummers of all time that is for sure.
So far I love these break down videos
This made me even more amazed with Mike
i get hyped everytime i listen to this
One of my favorite drummers 🤘
his energy is amazing
This is amazing!
Am I the only one who loves watching Mike play the drums like he's so good at it and passionate about it and just keeps his focus no matters what happens and he's so dedicated~
Awesome
he is just one of the best drummer if seen live he kills all when he starts to play
One reason I love Mike Fuentes so much is because he can play the drums extremely well for someone who has never had a drumming lesson in his life. Makes it all the better....
All that energy though....
It's pretty common for drummers to be self taught, more than you know
thiS IS NOW MY FAVORITE VIDEO OMFG
My fave ❤️❤️❤️❤️
LOVE. THIS.
Its funny how mike is all crazy going on the drums and vic is all calm when you see him the video. Awesome job mike.
his energy is fucking wild. I like the new guy but man such a damn shame they had to lose him.
maldita sea...mike realmente es un demonio con la bateria....genial!!!!
that stick catch tho
This is the song that inspired me to become a drummer :)
freaking awesome
totally awesome
For only one bass pedal this goes hard
Mike is a beast
So much energy do
He is the best!!!
is ok that i keep watching this over and over agian ?
most of the kids commenting here haven't even kept a drum stick in their hands...
And it's great to see that they can appreciate drumming by wanting to check out all elements of music isn't it? :) Get off your fucking high horse mate and just let people enjoy it.
kate lolli
UOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! Agreed!
kate lolli I think he's just saying it's annoying seeing all the people wanting to make comments on a topic that they don't have personal experience with. I know this was a 3 year old comment but things like this still bug me. It's great that they want to come and check it out and learn more about the band than just the singer. I honestly think that's great and hate when people don't know a band past the lead singer, but it's absoulutley ridiculous, and can be very frustrating, that people want to argue with others with years of experience about drumming when they haven't even picked up a pair of sticks.
kate lolli He’s not saying that’s a bad thing he’s saying that people are judging mike with little to no experience and acting like they know everything.
It's not a competition on who is a better drummer. They all have a different rhythm so You can't really compare one drummers individuality to another.
Indeed!!
Muy bueno, talento al 100% 🤘💎
1:10 that tick, tick "WOO!" was so badass
A legend.
awesome
That was legit, good jog Mike.(:
Killer performance
Awesome! :D
He is truly amazing!!! ^_^ And people saying he's not keeping the tempo.... ahhhh... he actually is so y'all can shhhh. ;)
why are everyone so obsessed with commenting “he’s not the best drummer”??? like do you do that on EVERY video that doesn’t contain the one (1) drummer that YOU consider to be the best?????
You guys stop attacking everyone whos saying that his drumming is terrible...those people are obviously incredibly famous drummers who are on tour or music professors who have the right to judge other peoples abilities...like come one why else would they be commenting on youtube videos
I'm pretty sure mike does everything with one foot and most people here could only do half the stuff he does with a double kick. so haters no one really cares what you think
House Party Tour! :D wootwoot!
Mike is goals af
...You mean like on drums and artistically right?
This dude is a monster
I just came to watch his face as he drums...😂 the band is amazing though. Definitely my favorite.
in a way I think Mike Fuentes is more talented than Travis Barker because he's really good with fitting music and being able to mess around and have his moments while drumming, all while keeping within the music and making it fit. it's something I really like in drummers and I know Travis Barker is insanely talented but he kinda goes too crazy if you know what I mean and doesn't really match the music all that much.
yeah, but he raped someone...
Tøm Mãy No he didn’t he got consent but it was still really f*cked up because the person was under 18
Luke technically if you are under aged you can't legally give consent
This shouldn't be a competition but if you want to compare, I believe Travis Barker should be better because he was in marching band and there's proof of him playing outside of the genre with Blink-182
he gets into it because the song is super easy. take matt greiner for an example, he is one of the most complex drummers in metalcore that cant move alot
Very true, Matt could move like this, but he'd have to have like super ultra stamina and 5x speed lol!
Can someone help me out on this. I'm using shure headphones as I am drumming so it doesn't really fall out but it eventually does. What headphones do you think Mike's using? He's moving like crazy and it doesn't fall out at all. :(
I'm pretty sure he is using custom molded earbuds, there are many companies that make impressions of your ears and make them just for you for a perfect fit, the problem is that they are very expensive :p hope that helps
Ultimate Ears is what the company is called. They're custom mold, spendy, but worth it!
If it's spendy then it should be worthy I'm guessing. Hahaha. Thanks guys I really appreciate it!
Mohd Shafiq
Just get any noise excluding in ears... i use westone 1's and have done for years. They're great and don't cost too much over £100 (or didn't at the time anyway). I go pretty nuts live and they don't budge an inch. Just make sure you use comply buds on them (They squash and slowly expand in your ear). That's what stops noise getting in ultimately. I hope that helps!
We asked Mike and here is what he said:
"Before I started using my ultimate ears (which are custom molds to fit inside my ear), I used Shure ear buds as well. I did have problems with them falling out from movement and moisture but if you can find the right size ear buds that lock in the best you should be ok. Shure also makes different size foam ear buds that expand inside your ear that I recommend. Hope this helps, Keep rockin!"
Anyone know exactly what he's doing with the kick during the first verse? Trying to learn this song but I can't quite figure out that part.
I think most likely single strokes OR double strokes OR a mxiture of both
no way 49 dislikes how can you not love PTV my abbreviation for peirce the viel
AWERSOME!
Impressive.
wow
This is just mike and the fans
*oh my lord*
BVB needs to drum cover things like this with there songs
for real
Este man es un teso xD
Big Brother (Vic): Chill
Little Brother (Mike): doesn't give an eff about being chill
what concert was this ?
I wonder how long it takes to crush his cymbals in to pieces. he's a tight drummer live. everybody is good in his/her way!
The comments are so rude. Give him a break, all he ever got was a few "lessons" by his dad. Besides, it's not like he's bad, sure there are better drummers, but he's still good and he matches the rest of the band so shut up.
Luke Holland is 20, self taught, and covered the most technical songs in the subgebre
+Chris Cons ok cool can you ssh about that I don't want to see you in hell
Perhaps.... Caveman also drummed like that. :D amazing!
Ang lambot ng kamay.
🤘🤘
his timing is drifting
I hope they do another one with Alex Shelnutt!
holy fucking shit
2:11 - 2:17 makes me cry
I was there front row
I think I need to switch to zildjian. He kicks the hell out of those. My sabian Crack. Hook me up with some of your cymbals and I'll tell everyone to but them! :)
I love these types of videos, but I do have a question...why haven't you guys done one with Lars yet?, I'm a big fan of his and would love to see one with him, I guess I'm just curious as to why you guys haven't (I know someone will come on here and say "bc he's not good", but Idc what anyone else thinks bc he is one of my favorite drummers and he drums in my favorite band so...)
Aaron Albaugh probably because he uses some other brand of cymbal and Zildjian only showcases drummers that are sponsored by them or maybe they haven't got to him yet
me watching this video preparing for the when we were young festival
