For all who do not know: Matt wrote the lyrics to Provision. He had a "friend" who he invested a lot of his money in this company. While they were touring in Sweden he got a call from the FBI basically saying that he had lost so much money, though he already knew it. He was very sad and felt guilty for what he did, so while he was jogging atop a mountain in Germany, he wrote down this very song. He wrote "I am just as much the problem as the man behind bars. He did with his business what I do in my heart." That is basically to say, why think yourself above someone else just because they did an immoral thing? Many people do not know, but Matt writes a lot of ABR's lyrics.
anbukakashi689 Thank u! I m from Ukraine, but love Matt sound and style. Interesting story, i wanna to know more about ABR lyrics and band stories.. Sorry my bad english..
A lot of drummers for awesome bands write the lyrics. Just like the fella above with rush, Tomas haake from meshuggah writes a lot of theirs, I know there’s some more I just can’t think of them off the top of my head.
He is of the 1% of metal core drummers that doesn't look like an emo preteen!! Mad props brosef! That was cleaner than ... well, something that was.. idk, really clean. Screw it I suck at analogies.
I aspire to be like Matt Greiner. He is everything I love about percussion in one solid performer. His grove and technicality are so on point, and so crisp, that he just brings an original work in all of his songs. I would love to one day be somewhere close to his level, but as a 17 year old drummer with 5 years under his belt, I have a LOOOONG way to go haha
Matt, you never stop impressing me. Every time I watch a video of you drumming I'm left speechless. You are one of the greatest drummers if the modern age by far. Keep doing what you're doing.
I've never heard a DW kit sound sooooo good. The toms and kick just sing here. Usually you never hear that from DW drums, they always sound so lifeless but this time they nailed it that's for sure. Nice job Matt!
Yamaha has some of the best sounding drums I have ever played. Their toms just sing. DW is way too expensive too. I got my full blown Yamaha Oak Custom kit 8 piece with PDP rack for 4500ish. THAT is a steal my friend.
***** Truth Custom Drums are too expensive for me to afford, but my god do those kits kick ass. They are so beefy and loud, it's incredible. What do you think of you're 8 piece kit? That seems like a bit more than I would need/prefer, but it all depends on the music you're playing. What kind do you play?
Oh let me specify more hahah. 8,10,12,14, 16 toms. BUT I got 2 snares on the side, the Oak Musashi models, 13 and 12 for my side snare. And the 20 kick with the kit haha. And PDP rack sperate. I've heard some great ones but I've also heard a lot of poor ones. For the the HUGE amount of cash they spent on those, that's a rip off. I play in an alternative rock band right now. But I am learning all genres =D Except metal, I don't like metal drumming at all.
I can respect that. Metal drumming can be pretty showy, but I think drummers like Matt Greiner are what keep me interested. That guy's playing is just flawless and he looks so professional while doing it haha. Also not too over-the-top and showy
Sometimes metalcore drumming can be very limited without making it sound overdone. But he just puts in so much effort to make sure it isn't like everything everyone hears. Proud of this drummer. Keep it up matt!
Matt Greiner. Words couldn't describe what he can do. What he has done ever since the beginning is just pure influential and brilliant. I would wish him best of luck but he doesn't need that.
+Alfonso Quintanilla For other drummer on "metalcore" stuff check Peter Wildoer (Darkane, James labrie, and also my farorite drummer at metal), Dirk (Soilwork), Jason Costa from All that Remains (songs This calling and Six ) and the crasy drummer from Destrage, an italian metal band .
You know, it's not even just the fact that he is talented enough to play this that gets me, it's that he's crazy enough to write it! Man he's good! Hard to beat perfection, but I'm sure he will try!
you obviously havnt taken the time to listen to every song and every album.. I play drums and guitar and after trying to learn ABR's music I am now bored with everything else now,, pantera,, slipknot, overkill, sepulture, all seem ordinary to me now, ABR is everything that is right with music
We asked Matt Greiner himself and here is what he said: Let's start with choice of drum heads. I use the Remo Clear Vintage Emperor drum heads. I remember the first time I got these in the mail and put them on my practice kit at home. I've always liked toms to sound higher pitched but still have that 'slap' sound in the tone and the clear Vintage Emperor's helped me easily accomplish that. They are similar to the Evans EC2 clear heads, which I always had good experiences with. Tune the top head fairly tight and then go around to the bottom (resonant) head and start to tune it up to the same pitch or just under the same pitch as the top head. You'll find the 'sweet spot' and you're golden!"
absolutely stunning creativity and skill, I wish I was able to even come up with beats like this, never mind play them! but lets be honest, when's the beard coming back Matt?
Matt Greiner stands out, and I see him as talented What makes him stand out is the way he adds his own drumming to compliment the rest of ABR's talented musicians. Doing such complicated/difficult things doesn't make someone talented, at least imo.
Not a single member of their band misses a beat or a note live. That is musicianship with such technical songs.
They are a class act. Their live performances are in someways better than recorded versions.
Unfortunately the vocals are generally not great live, especially after the first few songs.
I have seen them like 7 times.
thats talent from God bro. theyre christian, + practice. but still
SHA8UTIE have to disagree. Just saw them on their 10 year constellations tour and Jake killed it
Best posture I've ever seen in a drummer
Matt McGuire ;)
brady wood Johnny michaels check him out, great posture and just over all great drummer.
Check out Akira Jimbo. Such a great asian drummer
I sometimes question if his upper half is even connected to his legs.

Similar to Neil Peart from Rush, he writes a lot of their lyrics
+Troy Baker nice avi of aleks
A lot of drummers for awesome bands write the lyrics. Just like the fella above with rush, Tomas haake from meshuggah writes a lot of theirs, I know there’s some more I just can’t think of them off the top of my head.
as a fan of ABR, this is news to me... my gratitude, fellow fans
He shook my hand at Warped Tour this year. I have not washed it since
Owen Hamel bro it’s been 4 years
So your hand became a swamp environment with the texture of a crocodile leather briefcase?
5 years later I still wouldnt have washed it
@@ahuman9113 that sounds disgusting. I don't like being touched like shaking hands or else.
Hahaha #Owen you are a liar 😂😂😂
He is of the 1% of metal core drummers that doesn't look like an emo preteen!!
Mad props brosef! That was cleaner than ...
well,
something that was..
idk, really clean. Screw it I suck at analogies.
in my opinion Matt is one of the greatest drummer on the world... he's very original in him drum fills
The craziest thing is watching him and knowing every single note was designed to be there
I aspire to be like Matt Greiner. He is everything I love about percussion in one solid performer. You'll be there soon, he started at about 12 as well. Keep drumming brother
I'm a 24 year old drummer with 14 years under my belt and I still feel like I've got a long way to go as well lol
Cameron Fischer
Me to brother!
***** The key is to never stop learning. The minute you think you know it all, is the minute someone else surpasses you.
I totally agree, you can never learn and perfect everything, if you do, prove it in the world! :)
3:17 - 3:32 is the greatest moment in metalcore history.
+Hunter Parker Agreed.
Hunter Parker so good
i think we need to back that up to 3:02 because the switchup at 3:12? jeeesh.
His face the whole time: Yeah I'm Matt Greiner, and you aren't. Haha so good though
jeremy wolfe Haha I see that, but truth is this guy is awesome because of how humble he his! Great guy
True. But you will never meet a more humble and talented individual.
I love how Matt inputs a lot of gospel grooves in this album, definitely one of the reasons why I'm loving this album more than the others.
Just 24 more hours until I see them live again. 2nd time this year, 6th time overall! I can never get enough ABR!!!
To view a closeup of the bells that Matt used in the video please click the link in the video description.
Definitely going to be the drummer in heavens band.
Hell's band is probably better tbh 😈
Whos thumbs down this? Even if you hate the band, you gotta recognize that talent. That's no easy drumming at all. Pretty awesome!
Super talented, love watching this guy! He wrote the lyrics for this song too!
I love how this is such a metal song yet he is so clean cut lol
Saw them play this live last November and it was as good as the album . One of the best live shows I’ve seen.
I didn't know Novak Djokovic played drums!
Sami K hahahahahahaha!!!
Jajajajaja
Matt, you never stop impressing me. Every time I watch a video of you drumming I'm left speechless. You are one of the greatest drummers if the modern age by far. Keep doing what you're doing.
what a powerfull and creative drummer! he looks very cofident when he's playing,so i definetely like it!
I just keep coming back to this playthrough. This is, by far, Matt's best work.
absolutely killer. one of my favorite metal drummers. i always learn something new from watching a video of him
Mr. Matt Greiner, you are RIDICULOUS ! one of the best for sure !
when I saw him live changed my life forever. perfection.
He is so perfect his style is unmatched
loving the variety of techniques and fills used :)
I've never heard a DW kit sound sooooo good. The toms and kick just sing here. Usually you never hear that from DW drums, they always sound so lifeless but this time they nailed it that's for sure. Nice job Matt!
***** DW is one of the best sounding kids out there

Oh yeah, that's why Matt Greiner is my favorite drummer.
That's right.
The straightest back in the world; Matt Greiner
Man, Matt is such a beast! Love to see all of the amazingness. Especially on this song
That China on the far right sounds amazing holy crap
I know, he's gotta raise it up though it's hitting the ride!
One of my favorite ABR songs. I think this is some of Matt's best work.
What a throwback I remember when zildjian first released this 👌
Straight up the most amazing thing ive ever seen.
How does he even come up with all this... a true master !!
What gets me is how effortlessly he does this. Amazing.
And this is why he is my favorite drummer
Wow Matt is an amazing drummer in an amazing band wishing those guys the best
Matt G is a very good drum writer and drummer. Matt Halpern is NOT overrated, he deserves all the hype he gets, just like this guy
appreciate his time and precise playing ,,the blast best and hand technique awesume
one of best drummers that i have seen in my life
He played this 10 ft away from me at a percussion clinic. Freakin awesome.
You don't even have to be a drummer to appreciate the insane skill that Matt Greiner possesses. Heck I would listen to just tracks of him drumming.
Matt is the best drummer of its kind! WE WANT MORE!
Hes so technical not just metalcore drumming. Playing in 5/4, perfect form, just a pleasure to watch
7/4 my dude. 😁
more of these please... they are really good
Matt Halpern, Matt Garstka, and Matt Greiner. It's kinda weird how 3 of the top drummers in today's metal scene have the same first name.
I actually know about dirk, he is indeed amazing, I love his "dirk blast"
Go listen to matt mcguirre
He isn't nearly as good as the other Matt's lol
Im a guitarist but i enjoy watching drum playthroughs waaaaay more! Especially ones like these n_n
Probably one of the most technical drummers in metal core. He's amazing!
+MrJacksonjamison I listen to so much metalcore, and I'm sure that out of all the bands I have heard, he's definitely the most technical.
What I really don't know is how he plays drums . He is so inspiring and his drumming .... love that !
I really love the short blastbeat-part at 0.52!! I enjoy this so much :D
Matt Greiner in studio.. Best videos in youtube.
Matt said he made those himself at Zildjians factory in a number of interviews. Maybe he used to use them, but all the cymbals are Zildjian.
You know, it's not even just the fact that he is talented enough to play this that gets me, it's that he's crazy enough to write it! Man he's good! Hard to beat perfection, but I'm sure he will try!
i love your snare!
Omg he is sooo talented
One of my favourite drummers breaking down one of my favourite songs by ABR \m/
you obviously havnt taken the time to listen to every song and every album.. I play drums and guitar and after trying to learn ABR's music I am now bored with everything else now,, pantera,, slipknot, overkill, sepulture, all seem ordinary to me now, ABR is everything that is right with music
Check out Between the Buried and Me. They are progressive, like this. Them and ABR are all that I have been listening to the past few weeks.
Try some Zeppelin as well! :D
Michael Eastburn ABR has the hardest songs I've ever learned. some have easier parts until you really listen
So true
Clean cut, polo, and metal. Rar.
As a drummer for over 13 years my brain still didn't come to comprehend the beat shift at 3:12.
Favorite song from this album!!
I'm so happy I can say I caught one of his sticks and shook this man's hand. Such an amazing down to earth guy
The sound of the kit on this video is great.
Just fantastic!!!
Such a Bad ass! There's no one like you man!
he deserves the glory and honour :) trust in god thats wat i could learn
i personally believe Matt is the most chilled, and hardcore drummer of his genre (Y)
Oh my god o_o YES. I love these videos of Matt playing! ^^
damn. matt has me impressed. Hes definitely improved! this is talent.
And people say Neal Peart is the best drummer....Matt kicks his ass everytime
Matts just my favorite :D I honestly think he's the best drummer out there right now. you make some filthy variations bro ; D
A breakdown series of "Fault line" would be awesome! I already know the song but I wanna see Matt play it!
Wow gran vídeo! me encanta como lleva los ritmos, y cero fisura. versatilidad 1000. Saludos desde Chile!
Siiiiiiiiiick drummer!!! Watching thid guy play drums makes me happy =)
His foot and hand coordination is godlike!
talented !!!
Wow!!! Next level drumming
Insaneeee!!! I love it!!
this has to be the best abr drum cover on youtube. dude could probably replace matt greiner!
this is Matt Greiner..
lol alright, i know a majority of people are oblivious, but I did read the title of this video before I watched it. I know its him haha
Wasn't sure lol
The color on the kit looks like a set I used to have called sparkling champagne. They look great in lights👍
I think this is my favorite song matt greiner has made to this date
I love him so much
***** B=both hands(Left on snare, Right on china) R=right hand(On snare) L=left hand(on snare):
BLRL BLRL BLRL BLRL
how does he play his toms so tight without them sounding too pitchy?? I tighten my toms to their max and they sound terrible, someone reply plz
I said pitchy not bitchy
We asked Matt Greiner himself and here is what he said:

wow an actual answer from the man himself, thanks!
Mitch Read He also plays Dw drums. you can have them lugnuts at any tension and they sound godly
DW SSC as well!
Matt Greiner is a freaking time machine dude, and he's probably the most musical drummer in metal today. Look up some of his stuff
absolutely stunning creativity and skill, I wish I was able to even come up with beats like this, never mind play them!
but lets be honest, when's the beard coming back Matt?
Matt Greiner stands out, and I see him as talented
What makes him stand out is the way he adds his own drumming to compliment the rest of ABR's talented musicians.
Doing such complicated/difficult things doesn't make someone talented, at least imo.
its a bell he custom made at zildjian. in the description it says soundlab prototype
how in the **** does he do it. i wish i knew how to drum like this guy
Matt is one of the best drummers in Metalcore
what the actual fuck?? 3:30 this fill in is super awsome :D
Matt!!! U r a beautiful person!!!
Absolutely certain, Google both those bells and you'll see that they look like the ones on his kit, because there the ones on his kit.
what kind of person do you have to be to dislike any video of this kind?
I don't know if it's just me, but my favorite thing about his kit is that his bells are STILL unlathed after all of these years
those hi-hats sound amazing...440 for the pair...tempting :)
@Jordan G. For sure. He's so consistent and precise too. One of my top drummers. His fills are so rediculous
Can someone give me the sticking for 4:25?
Daniel M "R/LLRLR/LLRL" BAM SON 😂😂
