- Sweet, sweet, and a most excellent radio! The Sangean put a huge smile on my face when I turned it on for the first time. Wow is all I can say about this compact AM FM radio!

Features I like about this radio:
Bass and Treble controls! yes..finally.
A Pure Analog Tuning Experience.
White lettering on Black Dial. Very easy to read.
FM Reception is through the roof!
AM Reception is fantastically good.
Removable antenna.
DC input.
FM Stereo while using headphones! Stop the presses :)
Speaker audio is very strong and sounds sweet with the extra bass/treble controls.
Headphone audio is a wonderful experience with the addition of the bass/treble controls.
Features that could be improved on or added:
Carrying handle, vs strap.
include AC adapter on all models.
Power LED indicator.
Aux In jack.
Top or back lit dial...that would look amazing.
Silver paint treatment needs protection.
Dial tuner could be less stiff.
Overall, I would choose this radio over my Sony 506, 19 and Panasonic 2400...main reason is the bass/treble controls, they work so well and make the smaller speaker sound so good. Did I mention Sangean thought about putting FM Stereo as a feature on the headphone jack? Killer! This radio is a must buy..fantastic.

I`d like to have this but it`s over 40 bucks and I already have sooooo many radios now because of this TH-cam channel! LOL! I promote this channel a lot in prepper forums and when I mention a radio I always link to the reviews here.
I agree with you about the styling being a bit of a tribute to the superradio! With that bevelled top, speaker placement ..and it's performance. Pretty cool!
A great radio for the money. Makes me wish Sony would take the hint and start competing again. No stereo on their models. No pure analog tuning. No bass/treble controls. My Sangean videos are just as popular as my Sony ones, so it shows a market that wants quality and Sangean is making some smart moves.
I thought of getting this one several times (and i like the blue). This has helped me make my decision.🙂📻👍‼️
CL model would be clear the one with a pigtail antenna is probably for prison use.
I have this radio and your review is very good and accurate. Some of the reviews I read before purchasing the radio seemed to under state how good the radio is on FM. Its really quite good on FM as well as AM. Your concern with the tuning knob is unfortunately accurate, mine has started slipping at times I guess it has something to do with the tuning string. If I'm using it in cold weather it slips so badly you can not tune the radio. Would imagine someone with some mechanical expertise could fix this.
That tuning string...yeah, I'm not sure how to restring dials, but I'm sure there is a tutorial somewhere on youtube that can help me if needed.

Seriously, I appreciate your review of this Sangean. I REALLY like the tone controls. From the video, it seems to have very good audio quality. The tuning light is appealing to me as I generally am not that fond of analog tuning. However, I can live with it if a particular radio has other appealing features and this one does for me. (I realize some other analog radios have a tuning light.) Hmmm... Now I just need to think about it. Do I really NEED *another* radio? 😕

Another nice review. Sound & sensitivity on the PR-D6 seem great, but I've run across a fair amount of negative comments on the tuning mechanism breaking. You mentioned the tuning dial being "stiff" in your review... have you had any long-term problems with it? Also, what is your opinion of the similar looking Reketess TR604 am / fm radio? Thanks!
Great review. Not a fan of the small, detachable antenna.
I think Radio Todderbert didn't work well,was that it wasn't timed in, because the radio's dial reads low.. I noticed that your classical station (WFMT 98.7) came in at about 97.5 on the dial
You have to open it up and you can loosen the dial cord by stretching the spring where it is attached to the pulley on the tuning cap. The dial pointer may need a readjustment for accuracy. The dial stringing is done too tight and lessening the tension will fix the problem and also it won't break from being too tight.

As soon as I am interested in a radio I check to see if you have reviewed it and thank you, sir, for another great and informative review. I am curious like many others why would it be in the description the dial is lighted and I am thinking could it only be lighted when plugged in? I can't see Sangean making that false claim.

I enjoy this radio for FM Stereo, and the Bass/Treble Controls. The Tecsun for SW.
I thought it looked like a handbag too, but I'm sure you can tighten the strap close to the top of the radio. The marketing lingo on the Amazon website for this radio says the dial is "softly lighted". Which I didn't see in your review or on the radio in you hands, but it may be too light out to see it, or maybe you've got an earlier version. This goes for multiple price points on Amazon, some renewed versions, from $31 to $96. Thanks for review.
Mine does not have a light. Someone else who recently purchased theirs did not have a light either. You could call Sangean and ask them about it.
@@todderbert - Thanks. The only lighted dial battery radio I can think of is the large C.Crane radio. This Sangean has nice white dial markings that stand out against a dark background and are easy to read, but Sangean shouldn't misrepresent that feature. Twice. Oh well....
When it overloads, removing Duck-antennae, helps.

That picture is a new circuit board from the older models. Maybe changed to a DSP tuner?
