    That Vstream windscreen is black magic. I can easily see over the top in its highest setting, and yet it’s more quiet that the windscreen on my K1600 that I have to look through. I can be going 80-90mph and ride with my visor up. I’m 6’1” and 250lbs and the wind protection is absolutely complete around my head, shoulders, and I have to stick my arm out to the side quite a bit before I can feel any wind pressure.
    By the way, if you think you’re gonna drop your bike more than a few time off-road, it’s worth getting a lower crash bar support, and a cylinder head cover if you’ll ever be in rocky situations where an askew rock could be stopped by the bars but a portion of rock(s) could hit the cylinder case.

    Having taken out a cylinder head I definitely recommend getting good ones with three bolt on points, two points not strong enough.

    Just went for a test ride on a 1250 GS at my local dealer. After the ride, 100m from the dealer, I was stopped at a traffic light and a violent gust of wind hit me and pushed the bike down. Marseille is known for violent winds, around 100km/h and I happened to be at the point where two buildings funneled the wind. I was well planted, but the wind just pushed the bike to the ground. Not violent, but the bike was on the ground. This test model had no crash bars so it landed on the cylinder head and touched the clutch lever. Result: Cylinder head cover - 195 euros; Spark plug cover - 35 euros; Clutch lever - 75 euros. All for a 30 minute ride. Yes crash bars are necessary !!

    Cant wait for you guys to test the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE. I would also love to see it pitted against all these heavy adv bikes and the newer middleweight bikes like the T7 and KTM790. Triumph really surprised me with that bike and I think it will actually be much more capable of road than these other fat ADV bikes with a much more premium build at that. Seriously thinking of trading in my BMW for it. Hope you guys get to test it soon.

    I saw a comparison between the BMW 1250GS and the KTM Super Adventure 1290s that you guys did on the track and you said the BMW was much slower and that the quickshifter was bad on the BMW, and the shifting wasn't smooth too, so...why did you buy a BMW and not other bike instead?

    • @mickeypopa

      It was easy to pick up because most of the bike's weight is low and the bike is basically at a 45 degree angle due to the crash bars.
      BMWs are usually easier to pick up than most other bikes precisely because of that boxer engine.

    BMW / KTM have reliability issues I have heard from owners. They say no good for extreme solo challenges. The word is the electronics and ABS give up on these later models so you can't trust them in remote places like the Simpson desert unless you go in a group, unlike the Super T and Honda which don't tend to break. In fact, I have never seen a Super Tenere break. Has anyone ever seen a Super T give up?

    You fitted mods for enduro/offroad and you didn't go offroad, you fitted new crash bars when you allready had good crash bars. Still, it's a nice bike and you showed the work involved very well thank you for that.

    The side stand riser is a ridiculously unhelpful accessory. Fitting one leads to fewer places where one can safely put the side stand down - if there is any sort of camber the bike will no longer safely lean over on the side stand because of the additional height of the new 'foot' underneath the original side stand. I have seen people buy such accessories, fit them and then throw them away for this reason - me included!

    • @BMRNYC
      @BMRNYC 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Howard Graff this is not a riser. The reason for fitting this part is for increased weight distribution so the bike doesn’t sink in because of lack of surface area. I used to have to park by bike on an expired credit card so this wouldn’t happen until I discovered this. Now I can put the side stand down and the increased surface area holds the bike up in place upright

    • @howardgraff4084

      @@BMRNYC Have a look at 5:43 in the video. He says "It's taller...and a wider surface"...and it's clearly taller than 5mm. He talks elsewhere about it making the bike more upright...Just what I don't want from a side stand! You may like that of course. That's your choice.

    • @vtv8man

    Excellent command of English, “6 footer” rather than I’m 1.83 metres tall. Looks rather juvenile to be doing wheelies in a review, not a serious image. Would have been useful to have panniers/boxes on to see how crash bars protected the entire bike or not, I assume bars only provide protection for the engine. I can’t imagine crash bars for the panniers, almost like riding a trike through traffic. I forgot riders in German speaking countries don’t filter on the autobahn! No comparison made between bars fitted on the bike and the replacement bars except colour. Side stand foot enlarger, not riser. Interesting to see offerings from another company other than the two major companies.
