I like the wavy bits. It creates an optical illusion where it looks like the table is curved and even moving a little. It’s trippy.
Man I've been following you for long enough and the quality curve of your work really amazes me every time. And I love that anger and frustration is always the part of the work :D
I liked it, one of your best yet. You pushed the limits and over came the issues. Inspired me to do something similar with the blanket chests I’ve got to restore. 👍👍👍
Ben, way to own your mistakes by coming up with solutions. Even if they were ad-hoc, they were still excellently executed. Also, you put Ric Flair to shame with your “Woooo!!!”
Nice update to the last piece, cool to see you taking suggestions from the comments with that solid wood boarder. Looks so much more clean!
I absolutely love the curviness in the pattern. Makes it super-quirky. Dude... Your work ethic is off the charts awesome. Thanks for sharing.
thank you for the new mic! 😇
First! Your designs are awe inspiring sir! Your personality adds so much to the builds as well! I love when a Woby Design drops! Always a good day when this occurs
Beautiful table.
Good shout showing the hiccups and obstacles. From one carpenter to another, great result brother. Love the finish.
Beautiful result! Mistakes are just opportunities to improve and learn. Thank you for sharing your skills, your time and your adventures.👍🤟🪡🎨
Love the table man! Really cool watching you problem solve along the way
"Ay, did whatshisname get at you the other day?"
"Who?"
"Deez Blocks"
Nah but for real, love everything you do dude, you make the world a brighter place with your attitude to your craft. Big love to you
Another outstanding job! Even if you may not love it with these pieces, it still looks pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Such a beautiful table, loved seeing the entire process, so creative.
Love the lead-in. I so identify with that scenario. EDIT: The CNC frame would have worked if you made it slightly smaller than planned so you could adjust with the router by shaving off a little.
Great video! The edge banding outer layer reminded me of a whole bunch of Thomas the Tank Engine Tracks all together!
Celtic knot designs would be amazing!
Nice video. Gorgeous table. So well crafted even with the "mistakes." Mahalo for sharing 🙏🙂
Skills mate. Awesome skills. you make extremely difficult look easy but anyone in the know, knows the skills you have. Much respect man.
I love the wavy lines. I could stare at this table for hours and still notice something new.
Gorgeous design and build!!
I love the way it turned out think it looks amazing great job always love you excitement in your videos and how you show your mistakes.keep up the amazing work
The table looks slick, always love seeing your work.
Not bad for scrap ;-) Glad you were able to make such a sweet table.
based on the thumbnail pic, i thought this was like half the size. epic man! looks great.
I feel like I missed so much, only found this channel now! Loved this build and all the mistakes and solutions (makes me feel better about my wood work). Awesome build, beautiful design and fantastic outcome.
I think the waviness from the compound curves are what makes it unique and aesthetically interesting.
That table looks amazing!!!!!
It's awesome man! Projects like this are great, because you can learn a lot during the way! Doesn't matter what "mistakes" were made, you can always say you meant to do that! :D
This is, hands down, my favorite piece you've made. Top Notch Ben.
You create unique/amazing projects. We all learn from the struggles of making something. Look forward to your next one...
Hi Ben, Great project, I actually really like the slightly organic quality that those pieces of skateboard bring to the pattern. The pattern has a basket weave feel and the irregularities bring that out... Cheers Steve
This was a fantastic lesson in problem solving.
Nicely done, sir! Love this one.
Great work! I love the way it turned out!
Awesome table Ben! I like the pieces you used, I think it kind of adds to the affect that it looks like a weave. Anyways thanks for the content!
Super creative, your designs are incredible
Beautiful job on a first time project idea!
that hard work ended in a beautiful result 👍
For your most unwanted wood this is an amazing build! Well done!
Ben, I thought that the uneven pieces looked cool. It gave an organic, almost handmade look. Also, it may have been a pain but you have some great problem solving skills.
It ended up looking like a 3-way basket weave pattern. Amazing project!
The Hexagon pattern is really good. I know it took a long time to make the pieces but you should use it again. Nice table.
Amazing build looks stunning in my opinion I think you should of used skateboards for the frame round the table. And u should turn those middle parts into coasters u was near enough there through drum sander. So glad your back. Can't wait for more. 🏴👍
I really like the underside too. Before the charcoal mono coat. I think that could have been a cool idea. A table w epoxy bow tie connectors. Nice one.
hope you kept all the little triangle cut offs. they will tesselate too so you can create a side table of the same style with those :P
The epoxy butterfly locks would have looked awesome as part of the topside! Super impressed with the entire project, it came out awesome!
I only just now realized your name is Ben too! I knew I liked you... You've still got a ways to go on the dad jokes, but you'll get there :)
love this art piece
Bravo! Good job!
Great job! Turned out beautifully :)
You had a lot of good ideas on this build but I’m sure you’re already aware of what to do for next time. I do borders like these often. I know you were trying to save time but running the inside and routing the circle. First know what your finished diameter is going to be, then use that to make your borders in your CAD program. You honesty don’t need the dovetails or anything. The borders don’t need extra support, they’re plenty strong with wood glue or epoxy. However, it is an impressive detail. If your numbers are all right then the dovetails will work. Leave the curved corners from the bit of you like then just cut the dovetail pieces on the CNC too. You can draw it all up in your cad program to make sure it will fit off the CNC. Be sure to offset the dovetails 0.001” or 0.002” so they’ll fit without sanding. Again, it’s plenty strong without them. I would also try to nail the border so you can sand any imperfections after glue up flush with the center piece. I love your work!
Make it a hexagon to match the pattern. You do amazing work.
CNC sun glasses frames with those short pieces
Yeah, those hex tiles gives it a cool kumiko effect. Actually, I liked the subtle curvy lines in the patterns.
I would love to see the top stained black! Then sand down through a ways to reveal the skateboard colours! I think this looks awesome but I was just thinking using a dark contrast would be cool too!
One method to salvage those would have been to use the cnc file to make a jig to hold them at the correct angle so you could table saw them. Clever idea with the track saw too though
You did an amazing job! All projects have mistakes , no worries.
MIND. F**CKING. BLOWN. Amazing looking final result and definitely cool to see how you looked at each problem and figured out a way to solve it. Yeah, it has some flaws and there's stuff you'd do differently the second time around. As Jimmy Diresta says, "You go to school on the first one."
The pattern you chose was ace!
Best one yet
Watched until the end for the final woooooo!
Should sell some of those pieces. i would like to try some stuff with boards but im not able to access that kinda stock. but even those cutoffs from the hexagons would be cool to throw in some epoxy and make a messy board.
Wow I love it I need one
So nice.
Wow!
DANG! THIS TABLE LOOKS SO GOOD! by the way please wear a mask while you're pouring the epoxy
Ok so! That was great job.
Some skateboard edgebanding might look pretty dope on a project. Not sure how you'd pull that off, but if anyone could figure it out, it'd be you.
Looks great! Super creative. Keep making and protect your meat balloons.
This screamed to me a kids wooden train playset. . I so think you could have routered a few tracks for a wooden train to go around it and have the outer edge a quarter to half an inch taller so you could keep blocks legos or other kids toys in the middle. . But Fantastic looking table!
You're the best, man!!!!!
Great job! BTW how's the camper van fit doing?
B, how about patronizing small makers for supplies like legs? ETSY is full of them.
Loved the video, How long did this job take. So tedious!
Whether you think you're lazy or not, that's a pretty rad table, my guy.
That's a lot of work to use the skate board bits. What did you do with the polygon cut offs.?
Maybe make the connecting dominoes on the frame out of skateboard material for contrast
Ok so. Let's watch that video 😅 love your vids
Looks awesome! I’m a little confused on what you did on the top, did you put Rubio over the epoxy that was wet sanded to 4,000 grit? Or did you use something else?
I thought you should have put together the outside ring to get the tabletop diameter and cut the Sboard plywood to that diameter. When you ended up with the gap, you could have used edge banding around the skateboard plywood to fill the gap
Loved how it turned out, but it would have been just a bit better if you'd routed out a recess to put the legs into so they would be flush, and maybe doing bolts with threaded inserts instead of screws. Its a work of art, but if it actually gets used as a dinning table, finishing out the legs and making them easier to tighten &/or dissasemble would be a cherry on top.
Ben, you're the Damascus of woodworking...
unbelievable
What do you do with your small scraps?? I’d totally buy them from you!
Is the van series done?
Amazing!
What about pen blanks????.... Or knife scales?????
The only issue with using the CNC is that it does its work so perfectly 👌, that when you use hand tools and your own measurements, you have to be Absolutely PERFECT!! Lol 😂...But real nice work!!
guess i am an oddity i love sanding put on some music and zen out for a few hours...
Super dope!
The dovetails w epoxy might have looked cool faced up
Woby = legend
What happened to the van build?
Creative... you gotta allotta time in this one...
What can I build with 4 2x4?
There's a phrase in boat building.
"We put our trust in glue and dust.
Just wondering who will get their van finished first you or Matt Estela🤔
Hexagons are the bestagons
