I just got a consult regarding my underbite that wasn’t correctly fixed with my braces and elastics growing up. This new orthodontist said my surgery is covered because this is not a cosmetic surgery. My teeth are wearing out and grinding which is considered a health concern. I’m gonna go for it. Thank god for Canadian heath care!
lucky you!
That’s awesome!
I have a similar case, let’s hope they say the same !
Where in canada? Is it successful? Planning to undergo the same procedure
Any updates ?
Where in Canada omg I neeed!
I visit two dentist And both of them said in my case I need to jaw surgery I want to fix my underbite feel so bad cause so expensive
Years ago I had a moderate under bite. I had the option for surgery or just extractions and braces.
I opted to not do the surgery. It was so expensive and my job didn't have the best insurance.
10 years later I really wish I had figured out a way to do the surgery. My teeth are good but I have a long chin and jaw. Small to no cheeks. I would have a much better profile if I just did the surgery.
Anybody thinking about it.... Just do the surgery. You'll thank yourself in the long run
I'm actually very lucky because I used to have an underbite and my orthodontist said if I wanted my jaw to look more normal I'd need surgery but one day I woke up without an underbite. My orthodontist said it might've been because since I'm still a growing person my body probably fixed up my jaw or smt but I honestly don't know what happened but I didn't need surgery at least.
Is it possible bro like how
@@berat3332 I probably got into a sleep fight and when I got punched it corrected my jaw instead.

Holy cow cow!! She looks great! Hood work docs!
Thank you!
The results look good, do you know where this patient got this surgery done and how much was the approximate cost?
As I was born 3½ months early, my bottom jaw was bigger than my top jaw. When I was 19 or 20, I was fitted with braces. In 2013, I had both jaws broken in 3 places and then reset.
similar to mine except my upper jaw is very wide, wider than my lower, the ortho also said it would be impossible with braces. surgery is planned for spring, wish me luck!
Do u have any videos and information on open bite jaw surgery ?
Bring back so many memories lol
My daughter is getting the surgery done on the NHS here. But the waiting list is so long, what with COVID etc all together it's been 4yrs !!!
Hi, How would you get a class 1 occlusion for the following case:
34 year old female, who was born with 5 lower incisors. She had class 2 Div 1 malocclusion, 5 mm overjet and deepbite along with right side buccal cross bite.
She did mandible advancement and sliding genioplasty, but her occlusion became class 2 division 2 post surgery. She is one year post surgery still in Invisalign but her bite is more of an edge to edge rather than intercuspating. Her overjet was reduced to 1 mm which has caused her lisp and underbite tendency.
Your opinion will be appreciated. Thank you
Please please...read it completely and help. 🙏🙏🙏🥺
I have class 3 underbite and had started treatment from 9 years old. Now I'm 17.My doc places mini screw implants on both sides and after almost 6 months without starting the procedure on it, he removed and refixed the screw on left side and started the treatment on them the same day. Probably because it didn't get time to heal, the elastic on it started moving the implants and we had to remove it after 10 days. I got an infection from it , swelling and pus which went away with antibiotics. It's been 3 months since removed it(waited to heal completely before placing it again) I still have a small lump which I can feel and move with fingers from outside near the area the implant was fixed. It can't be felt from inside, only while pressing from outside and it's pretty small. Should I be worried about that lump... Is it dangerous? I am very very stressed out about it for the past 3 months. Please do reply.
(I visited doc yesterday and he said that we could place them again in the next visit since I have exams this week... He said nothing about the lump though.)
Please please please do reply.
That's amazing!
Thank you!
Is my back teeth complete overlapping my front teeth a severe underbite?
Dr. what other options in fixing ant. and post. cross bite in ske. CL 3 malocclusion.. instead of Tad and orthgnathic surgery.. in pat. of 15 year's old? if she /he refused the surgical option even using a miniscrew to solve the problem?
thank you so much.
I am 19 years old and have had braces since I was 12 years old. I am on my second set of braces and I’ve been waiting on surgery ever since, it always gets canceled or my orthodontist says I’m not ready for it… I am sick and tired of hurting every day from braces, I’m an adult now and ready to figure something out. I watch all of your videos so it seems like I may be able to be helped. I have a mild- moderate underbite and it kills me everyday to live with. Please help.
You could try Invisalign?
Can the wisdom. Teeth moved in place of second missing molars using braces?
Hi doc. I Have an overbite and underbite. But i can say it is not severse case. Can you do a vedio about how to correct cases like mine? Thankyou i hope you notice this.
its lifts up the nose too ??
Do I have an underbite? When my lower jaw is relaxed, bottom teeth stick out in front of upper teeth. When I speak I notice lower teeth teeth protruding out in front of my upper teeth. I can physically pull back lower jaw behind upper teeth to form a proper bite but it’s not comfortable and when I chew it’s wearing the back of my front teeth out. It effects my speech enunciation because there’s tension when I force my lower teeth behind my upper teeth. Do I have an underbite? The fact that “I can” attain a proper bite with effort eliminate possibility of underbite and it’s something else? Thank you!
Is the rubber bands pulling just the teeth back or the jaw also?
I’m so afraid to get the surgery
did the bimax surgery 7 months ago ;)
Omg looks great! Will medicaid cover this?
Kaiser Permanente Medi-Cal covers the surgery. Braces are out of pocket.
Fuck medicated that is welfare and food stamps
Are the braces left on during the jaw surfery and continued for a length of time after the surgery? Is it possible to do surgery first and orthodontics after? Thank you!
yes the braces are left on during the surgery. most surgeons require you to have braces for at least a year before the surgery, to get them in place for the surgery. they attach surgical hooks to your braces so that your rubber bands can be attached after surgery. you’ll usually have the braces on 3-6 months after the surgery as well to do touch ups and perfect the placement of your teeth with your new bite.
Does the gap between the bone ever fill up ?
Please let me know how much the total cost is
Why not do the jaw surgery first and then the orthodontics later?
Removing teeth may not be necessary and may require implants after the jaw has been corrected.
Approximately how long does it take to recover and return to work from Jaw Surgery for Underbite ? Thank you, doctor.
depends on the person and what your job is. if you work from home or office work i’d say after 4 weeks you can return, if you do physical labor more like 6-8 weeks. bone is healed fully by 12 weeks, but swelling and numbness will continue to improve all the way up to a year after surgery.
@@Tigersox24 numbnesss ???? I loose sensation?
@@Adnxe444numbness will continue for some weeks, loosing sensation is one of the risks of the surgery
How much would this cost
I have a mild one and I have strait teeth so I require no braces but I will have to wait for surgery until I have fully grown
I think braces is a must even if your teeths are straight
Doc, is it possible to fix asymmetrical face/jaw with dental braces? Because I just noticed that while I'm growing up and my permanent teeth is developing, my jaw is starting to be asymmetrical. Please answer me huhuhu
I'm a patient of another doctor, I've regretted that I always looked up answers on the internet without going to see a doctor. You could go and see any doctor, in less than 5 minutes they'll tell you everything you need to know from the problem to all the possible treatments.
Depending on the source of the asymmetry and your age it may be something simple to fix. Definitely go visit an orthodontist to have them take a look :)
When i would see the final results bec i had my surgery 4 weeks ago i feel a little bit disponted
After 1 year
I’m on my way … 4 months into braces
Good Luck with your smile journey! You got this!
How much time you wait to do the surgery after braces?
