I had corrective surgery at 28 years old, and the result was life changing of course. I am now a 35 year old man and can't help but cry tears of joy while watching this. Well done to all of you.

Me too. Though I doubt that it would have happened for me even if we had known. I was a complete dental phobic and my family wouldn't have had the money. Let's pray that this replaces traditional orthodontics in the future.

I really love what Polly's Mum said in 11:20 Thank you so much for your work, since I got to know about mewing I've changed so much, and I'm not talking physically (but I mean it, too) but mentally I'm in so much better place than I was before. Mewing was that one thing which explained all of my struggles. Orthotropics is a thing world should definetly know about, love from Poland
Beautiful work man. You’ve got my admiration both as a professional and as a human being. I’m 44 years old, and I don’t expect much change in my facial features. But you know what the best part is? It doesn’t matter. What matters is that I do my daily practice, and that I’m happy to do it. Slowly, slowly, everyday I move from an unconscious posture to a conscious one. That makes me happy. And if I can give my children a positive influence, a good example, and help them grow and develop well on their path, I’m much more than happy. Thanks for the great work.
Hey! Not so much on my teeth (that have always been a bit forward), but for sure on my tongue and jaw muscles. After a couple of years, I can say that my tongue has shifted positions to the "ceiling" of the mouth pretty much for good. No need to think about it, it's just there (even though I still do my practice out of maintenance's sake). About the jaws, I haven't seen much visual difference, but it certainly feels strong. And about "not seeing much change in my facial features", perhaps that's a good thing considering I'm 46, and not getting any younger 😄 Idk, perhaps there's a correlation there, between getting older withou having our facial features drop to the ground. Id love to hear what Mike thinks about that line of thinking. Hope you're all doing good. Cheers!

Orthotropics omg, that’s why my right side looks so crushed. I’m like missing 1/4 of my right. I’m a full grown adult who has been mewing for over a year. Even though i’ve seen some good changes, my right side is still ‘crushed’. I hope to see if there is a way to fix this. Some one said i should mew harder om my right side...
I can see why Back sleeping is important for Facial development to maintain balance and symmetry of the face and jaws. However side sleeping provides the effect of the glypmatic system by using CSF to clear out plaque and toxins in our brain. So I should do Side sleeping one benefit or Back sleeping for the other 🤔
Mewing absolutely changed my life. I am eternally grateful I have found out about this. I used to hate myself. My appearance and everything. The right side of my face was absolutely underdeveloped. I had an awfully assymetric face. Then I started mewing and I'm sure that that helped me to like myself more. Who knows the effects that TMJ, and craniofascial dystrophy have on mood. The connection between the vagus nerve and the digestive system... And hence serotonin production. Idk. But however, since July last year I've been stable. And my mental issues were heavy. I'm not saying it was the only thing that helped me, but I wonder how much of my recovery can be attributed to mewing and its positive effects. Now my face is almost symmetrical, I still have crooked lower teeth, but I'm finally content with who I am. Thank you so much, Massi 🖤🌿
Bro, i have the exact same problem, one side of my face is different, i have an asimetrical face and that makes me very insecure, how long have you been doing mewing? And how old are you? Please answer, please
Carl Ju brother calm down, almost everyone have an asymmetrical safe it's not a big deal. Mewing will definitely help if you're under 25, but work on our posture too. A lot of people with asymmetrical face also have asymmetrical neck, so yo need to work on your neck too ,by stretching the stiff muscles. Overall body posture is very important, as important as mewing. I started mewing 6 months ago, I'm19, I'm already seeing some good results. Do not hard mew, it can cause even more asymmetry. Good luck.
Carl Ju yes that is possible, trying stretching you're neck and shoulders, you'll feel one side in more stiffer than the other, Work on that and also mewing takes time, be patient and consistent.
What is not mentioned in this video if she went the traditional orthodontics or surgery route she'd be highly likely to have severe sleep apnea /tmj /chronic pain problems. Mike saved this girl and hundreds of others from the sick alternative.
I guess, she just got braces. I know someone who had a similar problem and she just had braces. As he said, the brace pull the upper teeth forward and the form of the upper jaw change. It works well in kids
@@heidip1782 no Heidi he's referring to orthotropic treatment. Where he uses reverse pull headgear to pull her top jaw forward. If she got traditional orthodontics they'd do the exact opposite. They would push her bottom jaw back and extract teeth. This would damage her health
@@psz90 im not so much informed about the procedure. But I'm pritt sure, in my country (Austria) they don't push bottom jaw backwards. I just knew one person with a similar problem and she got braces which pulled the upper jaw forward. It's normal here to do it that way
@@heidip1782 Heidi it's not possible with braces alone to pull top jaw forwards. You may be able to get some expansion of the palate but not movement of the posterior maxilla. Newtons laws of physics require that an anchor is placed in order to move the entire jaw forward which is why Dr Mew uses the headgear
Some body please tell him that facemask has been part of orthodontic treatment for 150 years you are just ignorant on which this guy is praying off off
I have had this condition for 50 years and yes i can tell you i have very low self-esteem. I feel so happy for you that you came across Dr. Mew early in Pollys' life. Blessings. xx
I wish someone had told my parents about ortho tropic treatment when I was little. I was told when I was 14 I would probably need surgery to correct my class 3 bite. Fast forward to last September when I did have the surgery (I’m 18). I don’t regret having surgery but I do wish the problem was dealt with and bypassed altogether
VikingTheDude pretty happy. My teeth fit together now and so my smile isn’t as awkward. Also, because I had an underbite and cross bite before surgery, my face is more symmetrical now. Breathing through my nose and chewing are easier. My profile is better looking. I just wonder if mewing would help me at all to get more forward growth, or if the plates and screws that are now in my face would prevent that.
@@reaganhadaway6619 I see. I was 13 when I first noticed my class 3 bite developing. It had probably been developing way before that. It became very obvious by the time I was 15. Being a teen an all, I was so embarrassed for having it and would try it hide it from others as much as I could. I would keep my jaw slightly open 24x7 because that way, it wasn't immediately obvious my lower jaw protruded forward. I kept myself in denial that way till I was 21. Once I had come to terms with it, I felt so liberated. It was only then that I realised my self confidence issues hadn't just come from out of nowhere, that it wasn't an inherent flaw in my personality. That's when I decided to seek treatment. I'm 23 now. I'm 1.5 years into my treatment using braces. When I had to choose between braces and surgery, all the dentist's I consulted said my condition wasn't bad enough to warrant surgery. Now nearing the end of my treatment, I feel a lot better. The treatment only fixed my teeth, so my lower jaw still clearly protrudes outwards, and my upper jaw is still set back a bit. But I feel less awkward when I smile. When I'm out with people, I no longer feel like a piranha whose lower canines are jutting out. I sometimes wonder what would've been if I had gotten surgery. But I'm happy with even the progress I've made. Now I'm trying to build my confidence back up again.
@Princess of Fireflies have you actually taken xrays? Becuase most people claim to have changes so much while it's mostly just soft tissue getting firmer
Hey, if possible, have a consult with Mike Mew with your x-rays and he can guide you to what can be done (as of now, maybe it's surgery). We cannot change what has happened, but we can choose what we do now. 😊 You are only 28 and have so much more time!
Although it was an emotional rollercoaster for me knowing my face was damaged by headgear braces, I'm thankfull you share this important message. My daughter and little niece are blessed 💕
What a beautiful smile young Polly has, what a treasure for her to be able to express her sparkling personality with confidence. I also had issues as a young child and adolescent but here in North Carolina in the states, there simply wasn’t an awareness of alternatives to the orthodontia that made some of my underlying problems worse. I’ll recycle the phrase, but knowing that Mike Mew is out there gives me the “steely confidence” to know progress can be made when you understand the fundamentals and begin making the necessary changes. Thank you for coming forth with Polly’s story for TH-cam, it’s something people need to see so that more young families can have the confidence to do the work required even if it seems untraditional.
Dr mew when will you upload the animated series of proper mewing, chewing, swallowing, tongue sweep? I am really waiting for those as i don't know how to put a tongue sweep
This is amazing, your work will get more and more recognized with time, dont stop uploading this videos we need them to commit and keep mewing. Thank you, sir.
My name is Ola , I am 18 years, and have been mewing for 5 months now, I also have an underbite and am hoping to see results from mewing, but I have noticed no changes so far. Polly's story has really motivated me, hopefully in the future i will see results from mewing
olaoluwa odeyemi same situation. I have very mild underbite, and I have been mewing for 4 month, I noticed that my maxilla moved forward a bit, I think it will rly help us in 2 year only
@@kozumelubs1574 no. you need to see an orthodontist to determine whether the underbite is dental (caused by the position of the teeth) or skeletal (caused by the position of the bone). if it’s dental, it can likely be corrected through braces +heavy elastics. if it’s skeletal, there’s a pretty good chance it can only be corrected through surgery. this is coming from someone who had double jaw surgery for a class III malocclusion.
Awesome documentary! This could be a movie, I can see mike mew's passion and determination to change the lives of these people and def he is one of the living heroes in today's world.. you saved my life dr. and Im forever grateful.. 32 and mewing for a year and a half, noticed my jaw defined and cheeks widened..
I remember begging my dentist not to send me to the orthodontist. I even asked him if drinking milk everyday would straighten my teeth. I refused to believe that braces were necessary. I got put through so much shit. And after straightening them and wearing retainers. They bent again a few months later. Meaning I wasted time, money and torment as a child dealing with that shit. In the end I gained nothing. Im mewing everyday now. And I love difficult challenges. I wish you were around when I was a kid. You are doing God's work.
if you have an actual malocclusion that is skeletal in nature rather than dental, then braces aren’t going to fix it. neither is mewing. the physical bones are malformed therefore they need to be corrected with surgery. if your malocclusion was only dental, then there’s no reason they would shift back to where they were unless you were not wearing your retainers correctly, retainers need to be worn nightly for life to retain your teeth’s position.
In only 6 months??? That's CRAZY. To think that she would have had to suffer until 18 when she would have to have painful surgery to achieve a result not even as desirable as this is insane. I hope this practice becomes mainstream, it is cruel for it not to be.
this does not work for many many patients, it works best in children. when you have a fully grown malformed adult jaw, headgear or mewing does NOT work long term. if the issue is skeletal rather than dental, the only reliable treatment is surgery. i get that people are scared of that, but there’s no scheming going on here. when an orthodontist tells you that you need surgery, you likely NEED surgery. if a doctor told you you needed knee surgery and was able to explain to you exactly why and how this would be necessary, you wouldn’t doubt them. there’s no difference. no one is being cruel.
7:40 ,Very few Scintillating human beings have walked this planet , and you'll be added to their list . Polly you have no idea , who treated you . Man she looks so good . One of the best transformations .
Such an inspiration! Polly is very fortunate that her mum lesrned of Dr. Mew and his orthotropic approach. One would think that traditional orthodontists would offer their patients this treatment.
I love how this unconventional orthotropics not only changes the appearance of a person but also set them the right mindset about correcting posture in everyday life. Usually, people who used normal orthodontics will only rely on the technology and not make actual attempts to stop bad habits causing dental and facial problems, because they have always thought that facial abnormalities can't get better without operations or high technology methods. But prevention is better than cure. What really matters is awareness, since awareness results in actions to refrain oneself from having bad postures again. Those who have been through orthotropics and mewing, and those who simply believe in this whole theory will have an overall awareness of their tongue posture, sitting posture and sleeping posture; therefore, they strive to enhance them by themselves
skeletal malocclusions can be GENETIC. you cannot “prevent” getting a gene that causes abnormal growth in your jaw bones????? 3 other people in my immediate family have this skeletal malocclusion. no amount of correct “posture” could have changed this for me. posture cannot move your fully grown malformed adult jaw bones. this is so misinformed. there is a reason that surgery is commonplace for severe skeletal malocclusions in adults, thats because it is the most reliable, precise, well studied, and least risk of relapse.
This is a bit over the top. She's an adorable child and picking her apart for something she can't control is wrong even if there's a correction for it.
Its so screwed how we aren’t told about this by people who know. All these doctors and dentists know that good posture is essential for healthy growth. Its like they benefit from us being messed up, it gives them a job. If they instead told us about orthotropics and good posture in general then braces and surgery wouldnt be used in many cases
@@OrthotropicsI’m getting orthodontic treatment for my class3. It will involve extractions of the lower premolars. Is there any other way I’m 19 years old?
@@norman6898 It wasn't my intention to imply it was genetic but my apologies if it came across that way. That it isn't (just) genetic is the basis of orthotropics, however, the mother still displays the same problem. It's probably from similar habits in oral posture.
@@NR-fg2qc Yes, that might be possible. It can be related to personal habits including chewing and types of food, posture and mannerisms learnt from parents.
@@notadoctorshh6544 has nothing to do with habits. skeletal malocclusion is caused by either underdeveloped upper jaw, overdeveloped lower jaw, or both. often genetic. 3 other people in my family have a skeletal underbite.
@@NR-fg2qc it is genetic. it’s not caused by posture, it’s literally malformation of the jaw bones. it is skeletal in nature. 3 other people in my family have skeletal underbites, and i got whatever gene carried that.

Treating class 3 patients whilst they're still growing seems to be a fairly common part of orthodontics in Australia. Surprises me that she's was told her daughter couldn't be treated until finding this Dr
There are a number of progressive orthodontists in Australia (some offering biobloc orthotropics). Derek Mahony is probably the most well known, but also Simon Wong and a few others. The Myobrace was invented by Chris Farrell in Australia in consultation with John Mew. The Myomunchee was also invented by the Bourkes in Australia. Steve Lin is a progressive dentist who encourages good oral posture. John Mew has known all these people for many years and taught many of them.
It’s the same in the U.S. and all that mew did in this video was create his own version of the face mask-which has been used for decades to treat underbites in growing patients.
I have an overbite and it is so annoying I keep biting my tongue really badly and can't seem to get anywhere with dentist it's like they don't want to help really
I live with this problem now, and breathing is hard. I've been two like 3 dentist and they've referred me to an orthodontist but he wouldn't really do anything cause he said I would need braces first. But now I'm like stuck with this extreme underbite and I feel like I'll always be stuck with it... my jaw constantly feels like there is so much extra. 😩
Real shame the NHS leaves young people on the rubbish heap. I myself suffer with a twisted skull caused by repeated head trauma at an extremely young age, multiple mandibular problems, dental trauma. I've raised these issues to my GP, dentists. Several dentists have commented on the severity.... GPs have dismissed me as having psychological issues. Quite an extraordinary experience. I'm still quite young at 34 too.... Health care in the UK needs to change!
I had this same exact problem growing up, probably even worse. If only i had known about orthotropics back then. Thankfully i’m still 18 so hopefully it’s not too late.
@@princessrosedewitt8400 I’ve just been trying to mew as much as I can, whenever I can. It’s not really working all that well but i’m saving up to go see an orthotropic dentist.
@@ejm821 go to an orthodontist, not an orthotropic dentist. an orthodontist can determine whether the underbite is skeletal or dental in nature, and whether or not you need braces + elastics, or surgery. mewing + orthotropic treatment does not work on people whose jaws are already fully formed. you can’t move or shift or grow your bones through mewing.
Please start treating cleft children? I understand that they need some surgeries, to close the cleft. But they have to go thrue sooooo many horrific surgeries since they are young children.. I was born with a cleft palate and mewing has helped me and i started mewing when i was already 22, ive never been different looking externally but i had open bite (also i have 4 baby tooth that i don't have adult tooth to replace them and only 1-2mm thin bone in places where i have baby tooths). But basically im living proof that mewing helps, even if you have a cleft. Doctors have cleft children since they are babies, if othotropics was added into their treatment it could do sooo much for them if they were treated with it since they were born. Im worried if i will have cleft child one day when i have children since i have cleft palate myself, if i do i definitely want this treatment for her/him. It shouldn't be about doctors and their egos, it should be about " how do we make this child healthiest and happiest person possible with least amount of pain?" I promise if im unlucky and i one day have a cleft child, i will change world for that child, no matter what i want mew`s treatment for my baby.

I have a horrible underbite my mom spent thousands on braces, retainers teeth pulled 12 in total when I was young and it seems all for naught. I wish I had this perspective or option. Your a great man ❤️
To this day when I shut my jaw I can easily stick most of my tongue out. It's a huge confidence killer so to see this girl beat the odds it's so great to see
She still beautiful I had a slight underbite like your daughter and I didn’t get treatment of age 13 in 1976 was for extractions never was talking about expanders
This video reminded me that when I was 4 or 5 I had an underbite. Not as bad as this, but I definitely couldn’t force my upper teeth over my lower teeth by pulling my lower jaw back. I remember getting a retainer, and after a couple days I broke it into four pieces accidentally, biting it. My parents made a deal with me: if I could fix my teeth myself, they would buy me a motorcycle. So for the next two years, I spent a good portion of each day pushing on my upper teeth with my fingers and tongue. I remember several triumphs along the way: the first time I could touch my lower front teeth with my upper front teeth, and then the first time I could slide the uppers over the lowers slightly. In retrospect it seems insane, even abusive, that my parents considered this, but it worked. At some point when I was 6 my underbite was gone, so they bought me a Yamaha 50. I’m 39 now, and my teeth have been fine ever since- though I did have my lower wisdom teeth out at 30 because they were protruding.
@@d.n.8919 Haha, reading the original comment I realize I forgot a couple other details: the first time I rode the motorcycle I made it about 10 seconds up the gravel driveway before losing control and veering right into the barbed wire fence that ran parallel to the driveway. This was particularly distressing as the throttle was the sort where you rotate the entire handle, and when I crashed the handle was buried in the ground and stuck half open, and because the tires, having become detached from the ground, were no longer acting against the motor, the motor was able to just rev higher and higher, toward a terrible high pitched crescendo. When that happened (and it would happen countless times over the coming years) you had to get to the kill switch as fast as possible. The second anecdote is that my sister and I would ride the motorcycle in the morning the half mile up the driveway to our grandparents' house, where the bus would pick us up for school. On some especially cold mornings the motorcycle wouldn't start, and we would have to run frantically to make the bus.
I had the same problem. Correct poster, mewing and deliberately trying to breath through the nose helped me. It was really hard in the beginning but now i breath with my nose just fine.
2 years of headgear half the day in a young girl closed a 12mm underbite. Im an 18M and if I could close even half of that distance in my upper jaw it would be amazing. Wishing I lived in england for this :(
Had tears watching this the whole time. 😭 Basically ordinary people are under attack by "forces" , we must fight for freedom, at this point they have way too much power. It's not only the health sector, this is kind of like a terrorist attack on normal beings from every aspect , started a long time ago. Humans must unite and look for the real enemies everything else is just distraction. We must spread the truth. Sadly nobody is willing to sacrifice.

that’s because orthotropic treatment is NOT a long term solution for a bone malformation. please see an orthodontist for a consultation for your bite issues. some malocclusions only require braces + elastics while some require surgery.
At the moment I’m unable to visit the UK from the Netherlands but as soon as things go back to normal I will visit the amazing person Mike Mew. I had such a good facial structure until 13 when I got a twin block brace, for about 2,5 years i think my teeth position hasn’t been te same since and even without retainers my teeth are getting more crowded (I’m 17 and started mewing at 16). My smile looks wider so I do not know why my lower teeth are crowding. Should I get a upper palate expander? Or will this drop down my maxilla because of the lack of tongue support? And if i keep my teeth together my mandible will also expand. Thank you for reading

Johnny Belmont you are amazing
Cheers!
Production quality is amazing!!
Someone mentioned sleeping position and this article came to mind; www.ericdavisdental.com/facial-orthotropics-for-your-child/why-raise-unhealthy-children/why-cause-crooked-skulls-and-crooked-bodies/sleep-posture-affects-facial-development.pdf?fbclid=IwAR3CGoSqARW9yrjMZuo53gZNCzyyUxIL4Bm17K1JXuCQBB5oGeOWmSo-kS0
Side sleepers beware. This is precisely why I took Dr. Mike's advice and slowly built the habit of sleeping on my back without a pillow.
Could you possibly do a video explaining sleeping position in the future?
How should we sleep can someone explain me please?
Orthotropics omg, that’s why my right side looks so crushed. I’m like missing 1/4 of my right. I’m a full grown adult who has been mewing for over a year. Even though i’ve seen some good changes, my right side is still ‘crushed’.
I hope to see if there is a way to fix this.
Some one said i should mew harder om my right side...
I can see why Back sleeping is important for Facial development to maintain balance and symmetry of the face and jaws. However side sleeping provides the effect of the glypmatic system by using CSF to clear out plaque and toxins in our brain. So I should do Side sleeping one benefit or Back sleeping for the other 🤔
Mike you are such a legend all the best mate!!!!
Thank you so much,
Massi 🖤🌿
Happy for you brother! I hope it works the same for me. I don't like my appearance too.
Good luck.
@@naches3844 i have the same age. Also something about me is that i have a shoulder higher than the other, i think that also affects my asimetry
Carl Ju yes that is possible, trying stretching you're neck and shoulders, you'll feel one side in more stiffer than the other, Work on that and also mewing takes time, be patient and consistent.
Orthotropics should be an available treatment everywhere. Great work!
Lucky to have mike local to us, eldest daughter has been having treatment for the few years. Changes are huge.

@@heidip1782 Heidi it's not possible with braces alone to pull top jaw forwards. You may be able to get some expansion of the palate but not movement of the posterior maxilla.
How happy are you with the results of your surgery?
Now I'm trying to build my confidence back up again.

can mewing fix an underbite?
@@kozumelubs1574 no. you need to see an orthodontist to determine whether the underbite is dental (caused by the position of the teeth) or skeletal (caused by the position of the bone). if it’s dental, it can likely be corrected through braces +heavy elastics. if it’s skeletal, there’s a pretty good chance it can only be corrected through surgery. this is coming from someone who had double jaw surgery for a class III malocclusion.

Take me back 10 years please 😅😫

Dare to help your child's future. Good news. Fight
Back. Fight hard. Tears of joy !🍀💕💜
This is a bit over the top. She's an adorable child and picking her apart for something she can't control is wrong even if there's a correction for it.
Yeah they 100% gave this kid a complex lol
Its so screwed how we aren’t told about this by people who know. All these doctors and dentists know that good posture is essential for healthy growth. Its like they benefit from us being messed up, it gives them a job. If they instead told us about orthotropics and good posture in general then braces and surgery wouldnt be used in many cases

I’m 39 now, and my teeth have been fine ever since- though I did have my lower wisdom teeth out at 30 because they were protruding.
wtf …

I wish I knew about it 42 years ago.
I would recommend the ALF appliance. Mike Mew has videos on his channel discussing it if you haven’t heard about it.
Waarom naar de UK? In Melle vlakbij Gent in België heb je ook een Orthotropics kliniek "Respire dental" Misschien kunnen zij daar ook wat voor jou betekenen?
Very passionate MD
at 14 I had same combination (treatment). No effects whatsoever.
