    The main thing about the physical part of suboxone withdrawal is mental. You can literally think yourself into withdrawal. The anxiety causes withdrawal, and being afraid of not having that crutch.
    Now that im 160 days off, a lot of times, im just blah, and not much motivation sometimes.

    good talk I agree with you about how some people need life long matinence. some can quit and some cant. Im from new zealand and maintenance services are a little different. Anyways keep up the good work its nice to hear from a doctor who has actually been thru opiate addiction :-D

    Suboxone wd is mainly mental. I jumped at 2 mgs and only had minor wds for a week. Worst part was the restless legs and insomia. It did take a month or so to start sleeping right again. Too many people read the horror stories about sub wd and have a really hard time quiting. I also worked and took care of 2 kids while going through wd. If you really want to quit you can.

    What would you recommend for a "Non Addict"? I'm a Chronic Pain patient and I need Pain relief and Suboxone may be a life long treatment. But, due to the "Opiate Crisis" My Pain Doc kept lowering My Oxycontin and Fentanyl, so I got fed up and decided to stop it All! I don't want to depend on Suboxone or any Opiate for pain relief but nothing else works. I'm not Pain free on 2 mg. Suboxone every 12 hours but I have no choice. This isn't living and I'm being punished for doing nothing wrong. Never took more than prescribed. No an addict! But being on Opiate Pain Meds for 25 years, I don't think My brain will ever heal or produce Dopamine or anything else that My body should know after this long. I don't see you replying to Anyone who has commented, so I don't expect a reply. 👎🧠🤯

    Maybe some can get off and stay off. I know since I was a kid I have had bad nerve problems and just was total on edge. I spent over 17 years trying to find my balance. I didn't want to really stay fucked up, just calmer and able to deal with normal shit and from years and years of drugging and court systems, jail, stealing on and on... never wanted to be or do any of that but, the shit I was taking was the only thing I thought I could do. One day I was crying to a friend and feeling like a suicide and he gave me a number to a sub clinic. Next month will be my 3rd year sober, remembering and valuing everyday and taking and accepting responsibility. I've never been "fucked up" on sub's and they have totally changed my life. Trust me though, nobody should ever just give this up and quit taking it, it will make you an insomnia ridden shaking crying mess. For those who know their body, knows sometimes there's no wand, sometimes we need to accept we are addicts for life, but, we can control it.

      cd mc I quit taking it after 8 years of every day use (prescribed). I am on day 67 today. I sleep 8 hours every night and have since about day 35. I dont shake. I play soccer. Walk my 80lb dog 1 hour every day. I have gained back much needed weight. I laugh, cry, and feel GREAT. I respect your feelings about Subs and how they have helped you. But please dont make statements that suggest YOUR experience will be EVERYONES experience. Because thats what you and many others tend to do. Im sorry you were not able to get back to feeling good once trying to stop (assuming you ever tried). It isnt easy. But your assesment of what is in store for people who choose to quit is completely incorrect and reflects only your own fears.

      Joel Albertson Love what you wrote. Im on day 67 off the stuff. I dont hate subs. They did get me out of the loop of obsession and craziness that has become my life. But I never would have started taking them had I thought I could never stop. After 8 years on em I am 67 days clean today and feel great.

    I would choose Suboxone over Opioids any day of the week. Never having to worry where my next pill or how I can make money to get the next pill would be a GOD SEND. One Doctor in my Area prescribes Subonone. That is information I pulled from the Internet, not a known fact. How should I go about getting Suboxone? I have an HIV Doctor and a Pain Management Doctor, which should I ask for Suboxone?

  • @Alprazolam

    I experienced the exact opposite then what you described with people coming off of Oxycodone. I was incapacitated, completely bedridden for 6 weeks withdrawing from Buprenorphine. I'm not saying Oxycodone or any other short acting opiate withdrawal is a walk in the park, either. In my experience the shorter the half life the more acute the withdrawal but with a significantly less acute withdrawal phase. Mind you I'm not an advocate of people not being on anything. I am frustrated with the lack of resources, understanding, and compassion in treating this disease. If it's necessary for an individual to take Suboxone for the rest of their lives it should be accepted instead of stigmatized. This is a chronic illness, but too many healthcare professionals whether their uneducated or jaded from years of seeing many suffering individuals have zero tolerance and compassion and avoid patients in need of help. I believe the US should be the world leaders in addiction medicine and pioneer new ways to help individuals struggling with addiction.

    Sub detox is NOTHING compared to coming off of Oxycontin. Not even close. I get the jitters in my upper body. Arms are bad trying to sleep. Sub detox has been uncomfy, but no sweats, no shits, and no being bed ridden.

      I completely disagree, from my experiences suboxone wd's are by FAAAAAAAAR the worst! I have come off of nearly every opiate you can imagine and nothing compares to suboxone as it last soooooo much longer than other opiates. You are down for about 3 weeks coming off suboxone, with oxycontin you will be fine after 4 days or so.

    • @goodbyesuboxone4263
      @goodbyesuboxone4263 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      last name I agree. Suboxone WD lasts so long that its tough to keep track of your progress. Oxy withdrawal sucks, but it is OVER in a week to 10 days. Ill take 10 days of misery over 2-3 months of lethargy, insomnia, etc...

    My last time was coming off a 6yr Fentynal addiction. I went from morphine to Fent. I too had to be admitted to a locked psych ward. I relapsed about as soon as they let me out. 2yrs on suboxone now. Still have lots of shame. But coming off of Suboxone is nothing near Morphine or Fent or Oxy. Good work Doc. Suboxone has saved my life thus far.

    Subutex withdrawals are a million times worse than any illegal drug I did! The reason is because when you are on drugs you do different drugs and different amounts then have some days where you are broke and don't do anything at all! When you go to a clinic you usually go there for years and continually take the meds and the same amount so your body gets very used to it!

    I agree suboxone is not the worst. What worked for me(I do not recommend this since it can lead right back into heavy use because we are addicts , but I offer it for what it is worth) is lowering yourself to 2mg. Then taking a VERY small shot of dope the day after your last sub. For me there was no withdraw to follow, just the regular mental things you have to get over with time

    My dr. Told me when I first started subs that a lot of ppl who have been addicts for years will always need a small dose to maintain. I've never slipped and never tested dirty or been short on my count. I started 12-24-11 on 24mg now I'm on 4 mg . Now my dr.acts like he wants me to taper 1mg a month till I'm off, but I know if I go off this med I will use again. If I could even stay on this 4 mg dose I would be fine. Why did he say Ii may always need it and now wants me off? .

    I have been on Subox, for 15 years. I can not stop using it because the withdrawal is too hard to go through. I have a neck injury from the military and got addicted to the pain killers, and after a living hell from that they put me on Subox to kick the opiates, but I still needed pain med's, so they kept me on Subox. I live a great life except for if I miss a DR. apt. and can't get my strip's, or if the insurance co. wants a prior auth. then I run out of it and go into withdrawal's. They are pure hell in every sense of the word. Far worse than the opiate withdrawal's I went through from Vicodin. I live in fear all of the time worrying that I could run out. I get 90 strips a month and they are enough to last me 3 month's but the DR. and insurance co. said I can not horde the drug or I can be arrested over it, but if I don't and run out, then I am in huge trouble. I don't want to have the Dr. cut me down to one strip a day, because I would run the risk of running out. I can only guess how many other people have traded one addiction for another like I have with the Suboxone. Life is NOT good if I don't have them, and I have to live this way for the rest of my life. NOT COOL. At 55 my life is pretty much done, having to live on this stuff, also because it makes you into a zombie after 10 years on it.

My old doctor never believed me either. , Yes Suboxone gets us high. Your really BRAINWASHED to think it doesn't get us high ?? Really ? Wow all that education, yet de y simple FACT TRUTH. Suboxone is also more powerfull than morephene I'm sure. Many people get high on it , also a great pain killer. I have 3 blown discs protruding onto nerves and once I stopped take Suboxone I feel pain daily now. Suboxone gets us high. Most addicts on subs will deny , lie , they dont want to be known as take it to get high. Yes it gets most people high. It's a powerfull drug

You don't need 24 or 32 mg. of suboxone. I took a lot of pain meds and do not fill I needed to be on 24 mg.of suboxone. they sent me home with 90 8mg. of suboxone and Valium.and soma and Lunesta.I fill they just wanted me to come back and detox from all the drugs they sent me home on. I wish I did my homework before i went to rehab. I'm off of all pain meds now. good luck to all.

      Your truth is going to be wherever you find it, I found mine in NA. It's not a cult, religion, or brainwashing. It's a group of people that have learned how to live with an addiction that left untreated will kill. The Doctor is offering his treatment, he may be right, you may be able to feel less pain and discomfort if you want to buy your dope from him every month for the rest of your life. But when you quit, you will still be left with the disease. So common sense says find someone who has found a way to stay clean without dope. I found people in NA that have figure it out, thank God I had the sense to listen.

  • @ImJustSayinPCB
    @ImJustSayinPCB 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This video should be listed as an advertisement.... On top of that, this person, claiming to be a Doctor (I hope he doesn't have a license but my fear is that he does) admits he was a failure at stopping using in a program that has millions of addicts recovering dope free. The scary thing is that he is promoting a drug that he claims to prescribe, stating that he makers of Suboxone pay him nothing. Sure, those Doctors that prescribe Suboxone don't need help from the makers, they have a built in monthly income from every patient. Anywhere from $75 to $150 from up to 150 "patients" per month.. That's between $11,000 to $22,000 per month to spend 15 minutes tops with whomever has the cash. Of course there is a bias. Suboxone, is simply a way to placate the masses after they have been allowed to become addicted to the drug makers other money makers. It's a built in ATM for the Doctors office.
