After watching your videos I've used these methods to fix things I've ran across that were broken. I actually started fixing the forklift displays by taking one we had repaired by a company and found what display they used, then tracked it down on my own. $25 and a half hour of my time saves us a couple hundred dollars each!
First off, love that you were able to get 'er fixed up. Second....TOTALLY forgot about the ran over PS5 video. Bummed me out back then that it was not fixable but HEY, it made me LOL back then AND it came back in to play with this one. As always, great work, bud. 🤘

Everyone can as long as their motivated enough. I started to fix iPhones and PlayStations when I was 13-14 replacing basic things, psus, screens etc basically everything thats fairly easy.

On the 1215 model PS5 the connector on the board is black and the fan side is white. I don't think they necessarily did that to improve repairability but it's a great idea!
for future video idea, maybe you can do a repair comparison between CFI-1000, CFI-1100 and CFI-1200 and make a video about it while reviewing which one is harder to repair overall
I've got a pair of surface headphones and I emailed them to purchase replacement ear cups and they said I can only send them in or pay for a new pair. THEY JUST TWIST ON! I'm so mad. I hope more companies get on board with the right to repair soon.
@@JzLyfeyes.. you can buy most things, but if it's under warranty then parts should be offered. Blue yeti mics for example, they would rather just send you a new one and destroy the old ones cause they don't refurb them since Logitech took them over.

With such a fragile fan connector (after repair) i would personally snip the fan cable in half and add a connector in the middle, so the one on actual board can stay plugged in. That way when you need to clean it in the future you don't risk damaging it again.

That is a great deal. I think a used PS5 goes for a few hundred dollars depending on the model year, because it has changed slightly each year since 2020.
The short 1-year warranty of consoles is one of the main reasons that drive me away from them and made me prefer self-built desktop PCs for gaming, where most parts have at least 3-year warranties. Seriously, one year warranty is BS for any electronics product which has thousands of parts that can (and will) fail. Anyway, sorry for the rant and congratulations on another successful fix, that repair was quite a deal even you take labour costs in account.
Last weekend I fixed my high temperature filament dryer. I took it apart, and it looked like the connectors were just loose, but I removed the PSU, checked for shorts. Everything was fine. I plugged it in and it worked. So yeah just loose connectors.
I believe my brother screwed in the wrong length screws around the fan and is now missing screws to boot. Always watch videos thoroughly without skipping all over.
He could use an alcohol q tip to gather the liquid metal from the sponge all into a ball. Then spread out the LM with that black q tip. No need to add more.
I also do repairs I don't have a channel but I live in jamaica haven seen are touch a ps5 up to this day because here in jamaica they are so expensive and alot of people have the console and try not to get them damage but I would love to get a broken ps5 to try and fix it so if anyone have a broken ps5 please if I can buy it to try and repair it also are if it can be send to me here in jamaica I would really appreciate it, I learn alot from watching these videos he is pretty good on repairing stuff

Seeing the liquid metal in a blob that was off to one side sure looks like the past owner had the device in the upright position. Being that the word is out about PS5's having liquid metal issues leaking onto the mother board when left in the vertical position, I'd keep it in the horizontal side as much as possible. Good Show!!

You make it look easy to fix. I got my nephew’s PS5 that was thrown down to the floor by his girlfriend. It was clean inside but cosmetically damaged. So I replaced the Power supply, and the I/O port. It powers on fan runs but I get no video. Don’t know what else to do at this point!
Fan connector is very flimsy on PS. Tried to fit a new fan in my ps4 and connector pulled off the board. Its incredibly fiddly to fix and was already after a ps5 so bought that. Now have various ps4 parts to sell including MB lacking a fan connector and working psu

That fan connector on the ps5 is pretty weak, I ripped mine first time i opened to clean and was extremely gently about it. Managed to fix it and superglued it and it's very sturdy now

I just recently got a free ps5 which was owned by smokers smh... they used it as an ashtray and it smelled bad. But it kept shutting off saying it was overheated the big problem was that the liquid thermal paste was all dry, so I put new paste and it works like brand new!!!!!! Saved my self lots of money
I am a smoker. So when I open my own hardware it always looks brown inside. I am always surprised that I see nothing like that on this channel. Especially the fans are usually really clogged up.

My first ps5 i bought was for 100$. Long story short, dude sold me a ps2, said he had a working ps5 for 150$. Asked for proof and he sent me gameplay of a ps4 game so he lied... I played dumb and offered 100$ in person. Turns out it didnt work. Was in safe mode with everthing was grayed out. There was a trick on reddit to fix the safe mode problem, i rebuilded the database and the ps5 stil works til this day 😎. Btw this was on facebook marketplace locally.
Oh wow, that looks like waaaaay too much liquid metal to me. If anything, some needed to be removed. it certainly all needed to be cleaned up around the edges of the chip. I'm glad it's working for you. I can't help but think that at some point it's going to nudged over or just move a tiny little bit in the wrong direction and some that river of liquid metal is going to go some where else that it shouldn't be. I think you cut some corners on this one, I'm not roasting you, i'm not judging you, I like most of your fixes, I'm just being honest. Everyone has their own way I guess. Always good to save another one though 🙂
The liquid metal on these is held in place by the foam seal. That seal works really well and hold it in place nicely with the exception of severe drops. I like to add extra to help keep it from oxidizing as fast.
you may be able to fix the power supply. it looks like a capacitor may have blown. if you waited about 10 minutes and restarted the console. it should repeat the same problem. if it does, its the capacitor. easy fix there.
Could you Fix a Nintendo Wii? I have a Predicament where the Ejector Mechanism is Defective and doesn't Insert Properly at 1st I thought it was the Laser.....

You can buy replacement ear cups online from other places that will fit. I think Amazon even sell them for gaming headsets.

little trick if the mounting pads are broken off you can use some solder wick cut to size and solder it to what's left of the pad

Bad power supplies are the absolute bane of console functionality. The amount of them I’ve replaced to fix older consoles is stupid.

You should try to repair a launch version of the PS3. Those seem the most difficult to fix.

I recommend horizontal but some people have luck with keeping them vertical.
