    I’m 40 years old and was recently diagnosed with ADD….a trick that works for me is having a list for each room. I will tag an area and write down everything I want to do in that area. I then set a timer for 20 minutes, my sweet spot, and do as much as I can in that 20 minutes. I set a timer for 10 minute break and then start again with another 20 minute interval. N your tip of using a bag to put items in a tote, was a game changer!! More ADD cleaning tips please!!

      That's a good idea. Even those of your followers without ADHD, or with just AD, (yes, it's a thing. Some people grow out of the HD part) can get that panicky feeling or get distracted when facing a huge chore with multiple components. The segment could be approached with the aim of staying FOCUSED, motivated and calm for everyone when facing this type of chore so the larger percentage of your audience without ADHD or AD isn't overlooked. I.E. Tips aimed at those with ADHD, but that can work for any/everyone.

    OMG I have the exact same issue with socks! Donate them to homeless shelters. Homeless people love a pair of warm socks even if they don't match. Tie a big knot in a sock and give it to the dog as a chew toy. Laundry and paper are the hardest to keep up with in my home (and never ending dishes) and the bane of my existence. I, too, am distracted by the phone, radio and getting sidetracked into another direction while I'm in the middle of a chore. Sometimes I put on stand up comedy videos when I am cleaning. You can listen without having to watch and you get to laugh while you work. Sometimes I listen to classical musical/instrumental music with no lyrics while I'm cleaning. Sometimes I try to go all day without TV or social media or anything that makes sound and enjoy the quietness. I also use a timer and challenge myself to get as much accomplished as possible within an hour. You are my housework motivator. Always inspiring. Thanks for the videos.

When I dust, I typically get everything. I dust bookshelves about every 3 months and regular spaces every couple weeks. The vacuum attachments are great for ceiling fans. I gotta wash my vents, ugh. I hate cleaning. I psych myself up and try to have specific and doable goals and I trick myself by seeing how much I can get done between the time I get home and my husband gets home. My ADHD brain and body stay on task better with music. They make me move and groove as I listen to a favorite artist, channel, genre, etc. TOTALLY MOTIVATES ME!!! . ❤️Toby Mac, 💙Newsboys, 💜80s dance tunes. 😎 I rarely change the music once it starts.

    My ADHD brain sidetracks me so often too! I now have my digital friend (Alexa) remind me when it is time to do the housework and I can get her to play me some music or my audiobook, to help keep my brain focussed. I have found in the last 3 weeks, since having her, that our home is tidier and I get more done in my allotted 30 minutes every morning. I also use Fly lady for the cleaning routines and your tips for a Ladybug to organise my home.

    Omgosh, the music to documentary thing has happened to me SO many times! I wasn't born with ADHD (although my 2 youngest sons were), but I had a bad head injury that caused me to have ADD ever since (20+ yrs)!

    • @SweetStuffOnMonarchLane
      @SweetStuffOnMonarchLane 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Did you know that ADHD is genetic? You very well may have been born with it (especially knowing your children have it), and with all the stress of your injury, it could have intensified your symptoms and lead you to your diagnosis. I never knew I had ADHD because I was dealing with the symptoms pretty well, then I had a very stressful time in my life and it was enough for me to NOT be able to deal with my symptoms. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 48 years old and I was shocked to learn I have it! I had that misperception that it was only hyper little boys that have ADHD... boy was I wrong!! I've learned a lot since then.

    Your mini redo in your home looks amazing! I haven't watched the whole video but had to comment, so true about the apron. I used to work as a cook in a residential treatment facility. I did not know how to properly think or productively function until I had my apron on. Didn't matter what craziness was going on when I stepped into work, I could only handle it seemingly after I put on my apron (this was also true for my male coworker)!!

    Wow this video was so helpful and satisfying. I think it's literally the first time I'm seeing someone discarding so much clothes. I know they're only socks, but most people only show while decluttering the clothes they can donate or sell and this look refreshing to me to see someone not being ashamed to just toss what can't be donated. I wish you could show this more whenever you'll need to declutter more clothes, but I think you won't need to discard sock anytime soon :P

    I love singing a parody about loading the dishwasher to the Grease song “You’re the one that I want” when loading the dishwasher. It’s very easy to do and you’re concentrating on making up the song and not the dishes. Don’t forget a line about congratulating yourself for doing the dishes, and accept a Grammy for your effort (I’m kind enough to myself to imagine I sing in tune). Also works for cleaning the toilet, and who doesn’t dance to that song?
