I've been married 45 years and have 3 sons near their 40s. I have always made a hot breakfast for my family every morning. One Saturday morning when my kids were little the toaster started smoking...so I unplugged it, figuring a piece of bread got stuck...but when the smoked cleared and I looked inside...there were two itty-bitty eyes staring back at me. @@laura0576 I think the Bee and Cricket perfectionism definitely influence this! They do actually sell this thing that looks like a long thin bottle washer - long stick 30”?) with firm bristles that fits under most fridges -- it works great!!! 😊
Thank you for being real. I have all kinds of technical difficulties while cleaning. My Daughter once watched me vacuum and asked how I got all wound up in the cord. Perhaps you and I are related. I had to laugh when you couldn't get the stove back in. This is the type of thing that happens to me regularly in life. God bless you. I'm not alone in my ADHD woes.
I'm trying to clean along with you but I'm laughing so hard that I had to stop to pee!! I have that same toaster and we do pull out those little drawers and clean them out pretty often. But it's been a while... The secret of my success is to pull them out while the toaster is upright! That way you're pretty much pulling out a scoop of crumbs and then you can just dump it into the garbage. After I do that, then I turn it over and dump out the rest of the crumbs! I'm sure if I took a screwdriver to mine it would never work again!! 😂😂😂
I'm in tears from laughing so hard! You could have edited out the mishaps, but I am sooo glad you didn't. This is so honest and relateable. Thanks so much for this video Friend 😂
Trick to keep top of the cabinets easier to deal with- after cleaning and letting it dry, cover with shelving paper- that way the next time all you have to do it change the shelving paper! Works like a charm and in a fraction of the time and effort!
Thank you for encouraging me to declutter. I reduced my fabric stash in my garage from 4 bins to 2 !! I am donating 193 videos . I knew you would understand my feelings of success today.
Oh I loved this! Laughed way too hard! I enjoy your candid honesty and relatability! As your deep cleaning, I hope all goes well with your "pipe cleaning down yonder." Colonoscopy prep is definitely no fun. Hope you get a good report tomorrow!
Cas, I’ve been watching you for years. This video made me laugh AND cry! I actually felt empowered because I already knew a few tricks you didn’t discuss. God bless you, girl! You got this! Every time it gets a little easier.
Second comment. This time about toasters. I left mine for a long time. Too long. I knew it was too long when flames came out the top (no joke). Now I empty the trays every week and once a month I tip it upside down like you did. Seriously folks, don’t take the risk.
Thank you Cas!! I’m home sick in bed and Thursday is my birthday n I feel miserable. I so needed this to boost my spirits. Your little songs are THE BEST!!! 😂. I am right there with ya on the grossness of it all 🤢. Love your channel ❤. Keeps it all real…👍🏼😉
I think this is your funniest, but most important video yet. I AM SO GLAD you're getting your colonoscopy. That's the most important message here. My prayers that yours has good results. I had an apartment with open topped cupboards like that and just laid paper towels up there which I changed out every year or so. Easy peasy. I tried cleaning a smaller toaster that wasn't working right anyways and ended up getting a new one, but if you Google the make and model there should be a manual online on how to open the bottom. Sometimes shaking like that can damage the heating wires which is what happened to mine somehow. Putting a little oxyclean/wash and vinegar down drains and in the dishwasher can help clean the lines. I learned that from a plumber. The oxy is dehydrated hydrogen peroxide so it has more power when it mixes with the vinegar. I need to clean under and in the drawer of my broken stove to replace it, but I've had a mouse under it and I'm not looking forward to that at all! Thanks so much for sharing this and the check lists, too.
OMG, I haven't laughed that hard in awhile! When you started taking apart the toaster, I wanted to jump through the screen and grab that screwdriver from you! 😂 I love your tips and definitely just added these to my weekend list-esp the fridge/stove, it's been many, many moons since we bought them and have never cleaned behind them 😬 Stay safe!!
You may also have charcoal filters up inside the stove hood that need to be replaced. I cannot believe you filmed this on colonoscopy prep day. You are a real trooper. Love the outtakes. We need them more often. Great video! 🙌
Usually the front grill part at the bottom of the fridge under the doors, comes off and it makes it easier to get under it with a duster. I made a cleaning "tool" out of a dowel and kids pipe cleaners to clean off the cooling grills at the bottom of my fridge. I took 10 pipe cleaners cut them in half, wrapped them once around the dowel, twisted them a couple of time around themselves, and used hot glue to glue them in place at one end of the dowel. It cleans the grills off beautifully. I also use canned air to blow out any remaining dust after. I suggest using safety glasses and a face mask, so you don't get the dust in your eyes or breathe it in. ( I learned the hard way ) lol 🙃💜
Thank you for all your free help you are making a huge impact for a lot of people. You are changing so many people's life for the better thank you very much.
Add press and seal or wax paper to the tops of your clean cabinets. When you clean pull off dirty wax paper and add clean. I do this once a year. No more scrubbing.
I love it that I am not the only one who sings about the stuff I am cleaning off of stuff. I love it. I was a single mom of five young boys for 8 years, so a lot of things were disgusting to clean. And I was a professional cleaner for awhile. My first non baby-sitting job was at a motel so you can only imagine what I have had to clean.
I pull out the drawer below my oven and vacuum and wipe down under the stover weekly. I dont move my fridge, but I do use paper towels to drag out dirt from under it monthly. I think people also forget about light shades, such as the glass over the bulbs. I clean those once a quarter and same with ceiling fans. I admit I should do more. My kids bathroom is always the dirtiest thing I clean but it is clean quickly 2x a week and deep clean weekly. Lol.
At a certain point your doggy is looking worried at you (toaster shaking) 😅. Oh yeah! The pink stuff! They miraculously sell it here in Spain, in the small rural town I live. I love to use it. I don't have a dishwasher so 1 less thing to do. I don't put cushions in the washing machine anymore as I once ruinid my washing machine this way because the cushion ripped and the filling was all over de insides of the machine. So I leave thecushions breathe in the sunlight and cover them with a cushion protector before a cushion cover. And once in a while purchase new ones. Fake plants; I put them outside or in the bathtub and hose them clean. Well, it's a little rocky gunky horror show all these nasty jobs. But you made them seem very funny😂. Have a great day!
My mom taught us to line the tops of upper cabinets with aluminum foil. It reflected light back onto the ceiling and was easy to change when dirty… no scrubbing required! This is a great home staging trick, too, to make a kitchen seem brighter.
Within the first 2 min-SO RELATABLE!! I always joke that the "house elves" are just "helping" when little mishaps happen! Now with my ADHD, I do a "PAUSE!" and see the first 3 objects I'll probably hit within my next action (like pulling out that oven), and then move stuff. I have broken too much not to give myself that pause. I Love hearing your singsongy voice! Truly, cleaning and loving our homes are so much easier when we enjoy it-thank YOU for making it much easier to do so!! 👏👏🌟🌟✨✨
I appreciate the realness! When you get that boost to do all this deep cleaning and you're realizing you did everything in the wrong order and used the wrong tools etc, but gosh darn it you did some cleaning! Love your videos and your honesty.
Same here, So Entertaining! Cass should be in a weekly Family show, being their house cleaner, coming up with some new and hysterical ways of cleaning! 😊😅😂
Love your little triumphant horn sounds you make when you finish something and how you talk to yourself. Also love how real you are. Laughing at how the dog is just lying there living her best life and you are scrubbing and working so hard! Oh, to be a dog! And to be honest you guys are making me super nervous on the chair and counters in your slippery socks! You could easily slip and fall, but maybe that's just me! You are in good shape to get down on the floor and clean and get up on the counters- count that as a blessing that you can do that!
I just love watching your videos! Not only do you provide us with such great cleaning and decluttering inspiration, you make us laugh! I am watching you at my desk at work, trying not to laugh too loud! Thank you so much for all you do!!
I honestly couldn't watch anyone else clean except Cas. I mean, cleaning is the pits already. Why in the world would I watch someone else clean and "add to the misery"? With Cas, there is no misery. Plus, she's having the same issues we all have with cleaning, helping us laf at ourselves, right? Win, win.
Best video ever! Thank you for always posting REAL videos. I was cracking up through this whole video. I appreciate your honesty and not just editing out all the real life parts.
Swipe under the fridge with a yardstick on a regular basis. My ex once over-flowed a crock of beans down one side of the stove. Sticky molasses - UGH! HOT WATER dissolves sticky crud faster than cold. Rather than SCRUB (which can remove the surface), wait ample time for your product (even hot water) to work. WORK SMARTER, NOT HARDER! 😊
Cas, your singing while your cleaning cracks me up. " men are useless its not nice but its true" lmao!!! but it is true. Love how truthful you are. And Emily, you are a master for not busting up laughing in the background.
Check your fridge manual… there are locks/clasps by the front feet that, once released, you’ll be able to roll your fridge out more easily. Keep up the great content and your infectious enthusiasm! 😃
@@Clutterbug Cas, you're going to love this easy solution. Just pull the bottom drawer of the stove right out to easily clean the floor underneath. The drawer tracks might be gross and need a good cleaning too... possibly a Part 2 or a short?
You are so fun to watch. You make me feel like this type of stuff is normal and I’m not a filthy slob. It’s like going in to houses that are so stark, you wonder if they really live there. Thanks for making me feel normal. 😊
Tip #1. When pulling out the stove lock the oven door, like you would if you were going to use the self cleaning mode, most oven doors have a lock slide just above the handle. It's easier to move it and you won't accidentally "break" the oven door off, depending on your model opening and pulling up is how you remove the oven door, makes it easier to manually clean the oven.
Did anyone mention pulling out those trays with the toasted facing up?? I am sitting here 😂😂😂 yelling, not the screwdriver!!! You may damage your wiring… Holy Buckets girl! 😂
This is the most entertaining deep clean video I've ever seen. I'm cracking up right now but also very motivated. Thanks for your honesty and great sense of humor, Cas!
My mother lost her wedding ring. She replaced it after a couple of years. She found the original in her toaster at least 5 years after she lost it!! When she passed way my sister and I each got one of her rings. Small blessings from vigorous toaster cleaning!
This video was truly one of your best! We all have areas of hidden dirt even though we look so clean and organized. Love how many paper towels you used.... just a few trees ☺ I have an automatic gag reflex ,too!
Wow! You are just amazing, Cass! Thank you for sharing and making us all feel normal about our homes. I'm having a hard mum day today with my 9 month old who is sick for the first time and havent a giggle at this while he finally naps really helped my mood. ❤❤ The grossest thing I've ever cleaned was also the top of the cabinets in our old rental. I got up there to 'do a quick dust' and the oil was just caked on. It was DISGUSTING and I was shocked and repulsed. I only did it once in 5 years of living there and vowed I would do it again just before we moved out. I ended up moving out with a 19 day old baby (our new build was ready at the worst possible time), so needless to say, I did not clean those cabinets. Just hoped the landlord wouldn't look up there. 😂 I made sure the cabinets in our new house were floor to ceiling for this reason lol.
I put a layer of foil on the top of the cabinets. That way the grease and dust are easily removed. The edges still need cleaned with a degreaser, but that’s a small task compared to doing all of them.
Thanks for your videos. I would recommend getting a drain snake for cleaning out your bathroom drains. It is plastic that has barbed edges that helps with removal of hair. It's easier than just paper towels.
"Lemme know the last time you cleaned your behind..." I just about choked on my tea! And the collapsible bucket - that's why I got rid of mine! Laughter is good for the soul - thanks for starting my day with a good laugh! Happy Thanksgiving from the other side of the country!
I followed FlyLady for years and she set me on the path of deep cleaning those areas. Since then I’ve seen at least 10 more areas in my own home that need more attention. Let’s get realistic though.i get more of these places than anyone I know but I refuse to be held to an unrealistic schedule. Even my ceiling fans only get deep cleaned in spring and fall. I do everything you talked about and several more. The best thing I’ve learned to do is to deep clean inside AND outside of my windows! I even wipe the screens down too and that feels glorious in the fall when we open our windows more often! It might be considered an outside chore but it totally affects the inside when you are trying to look out the windows through the haze from a stormy summer! Thanks, Cas!
I have to tell you… The only dishes that go in my dishwasher are scrubbed off and rinsed. Just use a scrubby sponge and water. I did have to have a part replaced, and the repair man said that I was smart to do that. He said don’t ever let anyone shame you into not scrubbing off and rinsing your dishes. Your dishwasher will last longer. I told him I loaded my dishwasher that way because I cleaned out the filter just one time and it gagged me. I still check it and It is always clean now.
I agree! I've had a few appliance technicians out for various issues. ALL of them have said they love people who don't rinse their dishes... keeps the repair folks in business! It's a washer, not a garbage disposal!
I cleaned under my stove a few weeks ago and as i pulled it out i hit my toe, with sandals on, and ripped my nail half way up. 😢 Thanks for the great tips. I get so happy when i see you have a new video.
For as long as I have been following you and loving your videos, I must say this has been the BEST and FUNNIEST one I've seen of yours!! Thank you so much for sharing with us!
Thank you for this video! I thought I was the only one with these spots of horror! Thank you for giving us access to your privacy and for making me laugh! I love your videos because they are always so authentic and "normal". You encourage people instead of showing them glossy videos.
Girl, you're hilarious! I loved this video! You made me yell at you through the screen to remove the toaster trays when they're down 😂 Mistakes happen so it's awesome when you see someone else dealing with them, then I don't feel like it just happens to me 😅.
I love your total honesty in cleaning all those icky areas in your own home. We are ALL right there with you! Thank you for all you do to help us clean up and organize our lives. You have helped me so much, love ya Cass!
The most disgusting thing I’ve cleaned in my own home is the bathtub drain soon after I moved in here. There was slimy gunk coating my nasty long red hair, and deeper down was some previous resident’s black hair. I completely gagged and was nearly sick. My ADHD brain has also melted plastic in the oven! It was my mom’s old 1970s Tupperware, the really thick stuff. I popped in the shower while it preheated. My house was like a toxic waste site when I got out of the shower! Eyes burning and tearing up, coughing, the whole nine yards. I did NOT clean it, the heating coils were too far gone.
I am so happy with you and your 100% honesty. This makes me feel like I am not alone. I agree with most here - How does Emily stay so quiet? Is she use to your "crazy"? You both made my morning. Thank you. I will not be cleaning behind my fridge. I am scared.
Cass, you can pull the oven's bottom drawer all the way out to get to the floor underneath. I had to get a new gas oven, and with the cost of installation and permitting, that oven will be in place for the next century!
Cas, you are a blast! You never fail to make me laugh. I just cleaned out my toaster a couple of weeks ago. When I plugged the toaster in for some toast, the elecltrical plug prong accidentally hit the little plastic "Reset" tab in the outlet and flew into the toaster, so I spent half the day trying to get the little tab out. Finally it came out after shaking the toaster from every possible angle. The stuff that came out was ten times what came out of your toaster.

That's how I clean our toaster monthly.
I have a similar toaster - I clean it outside then I don’t have to worry about crumbs falling on the counter or floor.
@@sally6187 great idea!! 💡👍😊
I'm in tears from laughing so hard! You could have edited out the mishaps, but I am sooo glad you didn't. This is so honest and relateable. Thanks so much for this video Friend 😂
You're welcome!
Trick to keep top of the cabinets easier to deal with- after cleaning and letting it dry, cover with shelving paper- that way the next time all you have to do it change the shelving paper! Works like a charm and in a fraction of the time and effort!
I put paper towels on top to gather the dust
That's an excellent idea!
I use old newspapers and have done for the 58 years I've been married!
@@maureenkillen1503me too 😅
We cover the top of our fridge with Saran wrap, so we only pull it off & put the new down. No scrubbing is required. 😊
I can’t believe you did all that without gloves! This video was hilarious and once again you show how real you are, making us feel less guilty. 😘
Oh my God this video is so hilarious. I might just have to watch this a second time. Cas you are too much.
😅 definitely some laughs in there!
This is just an every day here at the Aarssen house! 😆
Same!
Thank you for encouraging me to declutter.
I reduced my fabric stash in my garage from
4 bins to 2 !!
I am donating 193 videos .
I knew you would understand my feelings of success today.
Wow! That's so great - way to go!
For sure!
Second comment. This time about toasters. I left mine for a long time. Too long. I knew it was too long when flames came out the top (no joke). Now I empty the trays every week and once a month I tip it upside down like you did. Seriously folks, don’t take the risk.
I threw out the toaster about 15 yrs ago bc of the upkeep/mess/clutter annoyance, etc I now make toast in the oven-more efficient in all ways
I have mini oven .it was bad cleaning after old one.I love how human you are!
VERY human 😆😆
My butt is cancer free!! Yeah!! Everyone needs to check their butt.
@@Clutterbug I'm glad your results were good!!! Yes, everyone needs to do it.
Yikes! Unplug
So smart!! Thank you!
Lol.
This has to be your funniest video I’ve seen so far. When you lost the fluffer then sent the cracker flying across the floor 😂😂😂
Good to know!
Oh it's real alright..😂
Most relatable video ever. Thank you for showing your dirt! I laughed so hard so many times, this video was good for my soul.
Just about to return to similar jobs myself! Will be listening & watching Cas (when possible) as I go 🪣🧽
go get it! Hopefully it's a little smoother for you than it was for me!
Check your fridge manual… there are locks/clasps by the front feet that, once released, you’ll be able to roll your fridge out more easily.
Keep up the great content and your infectious enthusiasm! 😃
Smart!
This was such a funny video you cracked me up so many times. That piece of food going under the stove I about died laughing
Me too!
@@Clutterbug Cas, you're going to love this easy solution. Just pull the bottom drawer of the stove right out to easily clean the floor underneath. The drawer tracks might be gross and need a good cleaning too... possibly a Part 2 or a short?
@@jennyjenkins877 I do the same weekly and have gap guards to prevent anything from falling down the sides, my mom always duct taped hers🤭
At first I thought it was a mouse 😂😂😂
@@DamTamm I did too!
You are so fun to watch. You make me feel like this type of stuff is normal and I’m not a filthy slob. It’s like going in to houses that are so stark, you wonder if they really live there. Thanks for making me feel normal. 😊
You’re welcome!
Brilliant. This is half the reason I haven't tried pulling my stove out.
Wow - good thing you found it !
What a great story!
The grossest thing I've ever cleaned was also the top of the cabinets in our old rental.
I’ve been procrastinating all of these chores lol! Eeeeewe I see why! 😂❤
No more procrastinating! If I can do it, then you can do it too! You can do it!! 💪🧽
I put a layer of foil on the top of the cabinets. That way the grease and dust are easily removed. The edges still need cleaned with a degreaser, but that’s a small task compared to doing all of them.
I’m crying because I’m laughing so hard.
😆 so glad we could give you a good laugh!
Thanks for your videos. I would recommend getting a drain snake for cleaning out your bathroom drains. It is plastic that has barbed edges that helps with removal of hair. It's easier than just paper towels.
Thanks for the tip! I'll have to remember that for next time🤗
Thank you for these tips! Now I'm glad I rinse my dishes before I put them in the dishwasher! Saves on some of that cleaning.
12:49 “full of bugs…leaving’ it…” 🤣🤣
"Lemme know the last time you cleaned your behind..." I just about choked on my tea!
You're welcome!
This is why I like bagged vacuums they don’t get so disgusting, they stay very clean.
I like them too but they’re too heavy for my back 😢
I did mine today, OMG. It's now all clean. Thanks for the motivation!
I just love every video you post. How do you always find such purposeful topics. So thankful.
I have to tell you…
The only dishes that go in my dishwasher are scrubbed off and rinsed.
Barb here NOT Bruce! I loved this video!! Deep down deep clean!! I’m going to do this for my house!! You’re awesome Cas!!! 🎉❤
Thank you thank you for showing your problems as well as your successes! You made me smile!
So great Cas! Love the singing while cleaning stuff that's not so fun to clean, I do the same but didn't realize until l I saw this ! 😅
The singing makes the gross task much more enjoyable! I also didn't realize my singing until Emily pointed it out!
Oh Cas, you are so funny! Your toaster is so used to having a full loaf of crumbs in there it probably won't work now it's clean, it's in shock 😂
This was so chaotic and real. I loved every single second of it.
Loved the note on the toaster😂 and then “good parenting” comment. I’m by myself laughing
Thank you for this video! I thought I was the only one with these spots of horror! Thank you for giving us access to your privacy and for making me laugh! I love your videos because they are always so authentic and "normal". You encourage people instead of showing them glossy videos.
😆 "normal"
Deep belly laughs….I NEEDED THIS!!!!😂😂❤️❤️❤️❤️
I watch you all the time, can’t say I learned much in this video but I sure got a laugh or two!!! You are as real as we get, thank you!!!!
You're welcome!
Thank you for sharing this. I needed it.
So glad!
😲 oh nooooo
I am so happy with you and your 100% honesty. This makes me feel like I am not alone. I agree with most here - How does Emily stay so quiet? Is she use to your "crazy"? You both made my morning. Thank you. I will not be cleaning behind my fridge. I am scared.
Lol
Cass, you can pull the oven's bottom drawer all the way out to get to the floor underneath. I had to get a new gas oven, and with the cost of installation and permitting, that oven will be in place for the next century!
Hey! So smart!!
That's what I do.
14:25 Must watch. Thanks Cas, for laughs and motivation.
You're so welcome!
I love the dog in the background giving the "Ya good? I'm here if you need some help." look while you're cleaning the toaster.
I can’t get “be sure to save these crumbs to put on the top of Mac and cheese” out of my head.
😂😂😂
