We all have things we don't like about ourselves. I had a bike accident that badly separated my collarbone. It sticks way up. At first I was very self conconscious about it. If people noticed, they would stare or grimace. Then one day I was walking on the beach and saw pelicans flying overhead.They have "bumps" in their wings - just like my shoulder. So now I have decided that I am simply built like a pelican. I applaud you for standing up and sharing your differences. Your goodness, kindess and generosity is what is truly sets you apart.

It's very hard to make peace with yourself but it's a working progress...for you, for me and so many others around you. I think there's so much worry among young girls where they feel like they have to be this perfect thing - and they don't. Perfect people don't exist. Sometimes people need to be told it. We don't love the people we love because they are perfect. We love them because they are.
She's absolutely beautiful! Interesting as we see our personal defects looming largely before us but others don't notice it as much. And sad that if they do, they feel that they must comment. Sigh.

The lack of thoughtfulness in those comments is disappointing, but at least in your aunt’s case, she may have been young and dumb and who knows what else. As an aunt myself, I hope by now she knows that you remember, because she would not have wanted you to suffer all those years from that low moment. After she took off the jacket, I was reminded of the form of dwarfism where the torso is "normal" and the arms and legs are smaller. I wonder if there is a connection between the disorder she has and dwarfism. No matter because she is a courageous young woman. Good on her being the role model she wishes she could have had. I think that is absolutely priceless for those youngsters (and even adults).
I think she looks even better when she shows her whole arm and upper half! When she was hiding her hands in her sweater, it just seemed like her posture was worse, she was nervous, the proportions were strange, but when she took it off, she looked amazing. (She kinda looks like an athlete too, I dunno if the muscles and tone of her arms from her working out or from her bone disease, but she looks great)

I know there is always feeling of absence and missing. But when we see someone in worse condition than us we say oh God has been little kind to me.
