Great video, thanks for actually showing what exactly is that your doing unlike other videos where it only shows the top of engine the whole time. Keep up the great work!
very helpful, thank you for being thorough, specifying the correct tools and supplies, going at a pace that's easy to follow, and giving a clear view of each step. You do a much better than other DIY videos
Extremely useful video but you might also want to show them how to reset the oil life percentage under under formation on the dashboard to actually complete an oil change so that the filter is in tune with the computer under information on the dashboard
I always link the video at the top or at the end of the video...i make em separate for those who maybe just need the oil life reset on its own, but ur right i should just combine em next time i do one...thank you🙂
I followed the video step 4 step and then I had to pull out my manual to figure it out so if somebody read no big deal just thought it might be convenient can't wait to see more videos
Hello sir I have a question. I think I made a mistake by checking only in the dashboard telling it is 20% more oil but when I check it in the hood I can't almost see the oil, just only a bit. I am worried about repairing the engine just forgetting to change the oil engine. I used synthetic it says good for 10k miles. But I think I have done for 8-9k miles and now I feel a little change of the sound of my engine. Is it okay that I am a bit late for change oil? Is my engine sound will come back to normal once I change it again?
@@tylerspivey9639 ouch..usually that happens if ur engine is low on oil it means the upper half of engine(valvetrain) isnt getting enough oil so ur getting clickity sounds or they could be worn out for same reason...i would check the oil level asap
Yes synthetic is recommended but kind of depends on mileage and what you have been using..say u have a higher mileage car and its been using conventional or a synthetic blend oil and u switch to full synthetic, it is the better oil but thinner and may cause some oil seepage past the gaskets..thats why theres probably mixed answers.
That vvt solenoid does work with oil pressure..as long as its up to the proper oil level..maybe the cleaner newer oil affected it or just an odd coincidence
Yea the first time u do an oil change it can be a lil intimidating..but as long as u double check everything when ur done and make sure to add the proper amount of oil..its not too bad
I don't mean to cry foul here, but I really have to point out a couple of things to you. First, you never completely drained the old oil out first before putting the oil plug back in. Also, it was nice giving us the torque specs for the drain plug and the oil filter; I'm curious, though, why you didn't torque your bolts, though?
Well the oil filter on this one is a cartridge type..where it requires a 32mm socket to loosen it..its just above the dipstick just to the side of the engine's intake manifold and engine cover
Its not wrong to remove filter after, the filter by that time will have most of the oil removed from it..and the oil that remains should be cleaned off with a rag anyways, since it remains stagnant on the sides...only difference it might make is a few drops of oil that drain down and probably wont reach pan unless its allowed to drain for a while.
I bought 3 fucking 32 mm sockets and NONE OF THEM FUCKING FITS! It’s too long I can’t find anything short enough to fit in between… I fucking hate mechanic work
Removing cap gives u less control when draining oil, cause oil comes out faster and angled further away, more potential for spills since u gotta keep repositioning drain pain..if u leave cap on the angle of the drain is closer to straight down

Thanks for using the right tools and mention the socket sizes... some youtube videos fali to mention the sizes.😃

I have 2 questions. Do I have to change oil filter everytime I do change oil? How to do the proper way of putting a jack and stand to drain the oil?
I recommend that you change the oil filter every time that you change the oil in your car.
Hello your videos are very helpful, can you make a video on how to replace a 2010 Malibu broken wheel stud
Yea ill definitely do a broken wheel stud video when i get a chance to...thank you so much for the support🙂
Do I have to get a new filter or can I just change the oil out of it and put it back?
Its always best to change the filter because they do filter any particles in the engine oil and they can get clogged if left in there too long.
Backyard Chevy okay one more question, is that why my car sounds like a tractor because the oil is not changed.
@@tylerspivey9639 ouch..usually that happens if ur engine is low on oil it means the upper half of engine(valvetrain) isnt getting enough oil so ur getting clickity sounds or they could be worn out for same reason...i would check the oil level asap

@@tylerspivey9639 yea unfortunately once it starts making those noises they usually gets worse over time.

Where did you find that special 32 mm socket
On amazon..they have a few different. Brands...just type in low profile 32mm socket
Well done, info was clear and precise, easily followed!

How do I reset the dashboard oil change life

To reset oil usage gauge turn key and press gas pedal down three times and it will reset
thank you, well done.

Solid video

thanks
So its 4.5 quarts of oil ?
4.5 quarts to 5 quarts depending on how well it was drained and the oil filter size
4.5-5 quarts for this?
Yes, itll depend on how long u let it drain as well
@@backyardchevy328 thank you sir!
@@nickkduhh it takes 5qt my friend
I got it Connie.

I got an oil change and then the check engine light came on code p0010 makes no sense
That vvt solenoid does work with oil pressure..as long as its up to the proper oil level..maybe the cleaner newer oil affected it or just an odd coincidence
Looks easy! But I’m still scared I’ll mess it up lol
Yea the first time u do an oil change it can be a lil intimidating..but as long as u double check everything when ur done and make sure to add the proper amount of oil..its not too bad
Here at Chevy, we hate our customers. Specialty tools needed to remove poorly placed components. Look at a Honda fit oil filter change for comparison.
Filter cap is stuck I’ll just total the vehicle and get a new one because no one knows how to get it off
I don't mean to cry foul here, but I really have to point out a couple of things to you. First, you never completely drained the old oil out first before putting the oil plug back in.

so im not the only not able to find the OIL FILTER
Well the oil filter on this one is a cartridge type..where it requires a 32mm socket to loosen it..its just above the dipstick just to the side of the engine's intake manifold and engine cover
so i’m guessing none of our fathers taught us this ?
Not everyones parent would do oil changes
not everyone’s parents are alive to ask how to do this
Did it wrong always remove the filter first
Its not wrong to remove filter after, the filter by that time will have most of the oil removed from it..and the oil that remains should be cleaned off with a rag anyways, since it remains stagnant on the sides...only difference it might make is a few drops of oil that drain down and probably wont reach pan unless its allowed to drain for a while.
