    I was able to remove these off my mother in laws 2011 Malibu. They were originals and car has 80,000 miles. Thank god they weren’t sonically welded in there. Them AC Delcos held up. Thanks for the step by step. That engine cover design blows my mind

      your welcome, glad it could help. 80k is not to bad. most plugs last around 100k but dosnt hurt to change them early like you said they were no stuck in there which they tend to get stuck the longer they are in there

    • @gregorytolson1648
      @gregorytolson1648 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ I’m wondering if it was somewhat easier to get them out since they are tapered plugs and not crush washer style

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @gregorytolson1648 very possible since they are just snugged where crush is supposed to be torqured down

    Thank you for the cover removal and EVERYTHING my 2011 has been sitting since about this time 2021 i start it up now and then and it ran perfect til about november or december, cylinder 1 misfire, i am at 221661 miles, but its on the original plugs - if plugs fix the misfire then its worth doing other repairs and driving it til it dies

I had a mechanic work on the car he didn’t put that cover back on right and we ate gas for months till we figured out it was a vacuum seal so those are tricky. They have to be put back on properly thank you for your education on this .

  • @HOTAStudios

    I know this will be an odd question. I have been told that I need to replace the wires along with my spark plugs. However the wires they show me are nowhere on the engine. By the video, it looks like they screw directly into the engine. Hees the question. Does a 2010 Chevy Malibu have spark plug wires? I've had to correct the O'Reillys before. They had 2 separate bulbs for brake and tail lights when they were actually the same bulb. He took care of it for me and actually preferred we tell him if something is wrong in the system.

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You wont have wires on this car. It is called coil on plug. The rule of thumb i go with is spark plugs are 100k mile and replace coil pack 150k miles. you can of course do it sooner

    I’m doing my spark plugs later today. My dad told me to make sure my spark plugs “match in size” and warned me to replace them one at a time. As I was watching your video I didn’t hear you mention anything about matching them in sizes (old to new) do you know what my dad could be talking about?

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@antonioorozco3087 maybe the plug gap. But some plugs are supposed to pre gapped and some are so fine tipped you dont want to gap or it may damage it. Could be thread length but if you get the correct ones for the car it should be the right size. But you cant always trust what someone else put in so matching with what was in there is not always the best idea.

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      well normally a miss would indicate plugs, but also they should be changed after 100k miles as well as most sensors because they start getting weak. Best place to start is having a scanner read the codes on the car

  • @stacywelch1088
    @stacywelch1088 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Aren't you supposed to gauge the plugs themselves before you put them in?

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Old style yes, but plugs come pre gapped now and with the fine point tips now its really easy to damage the electrode if you try to do it.

      @@EfurdGarage Thanks. Slipped the fitting off without having to mess with the screw. Now, those "clips" that hold the ignition plug in the socket, Every cotton pickin one broke (probably my fault). The plug would literally not budge out of the socket. I has to use a small block of wood and "gently" pound them out after managing to get those clips wiggled out.
