Thank you for this video. U explained everything which is great for me that I have never done a filter toward the top of the engine. Also,We save alot also going to Walmart for the oil and filter.I sub.
Everything looks acurate, except I assume you are using SAE Conventional at that weight of 5 to 30W, because when I googled it said 0-30W for full synthetic. Other than that, great video! Another commenter here did say the filter housing takes a 32mm low profile socket, so a snub socket or it would not clear the block or other accesories. Thank you so much for this video! My first top side oil pleted filter change. I missed getting the filter WITH the O-Ring, but that is OK. I'll get one seperately. I honestly think this will be a cleaner change. The only thing I am doing different in this video is getting a baster to suck out the used oil in the flter resevoir to ensure fresh oil going in, but I feel you did a very good production! Thank you again for your instructions and Merry Christmas!
My ex just spent $96 on her mitsubishi mirage and I couldn't believe they charged her that. So by the time I go my oil and filter, I spent $27 on mobile 1, because they didnt have walmart supertech full synth in my weight for $18 and 2 filters for $8 a piece and I stocked up. So if I could get the oil I wanted I would've spent $15 on oil realistically, and $9 on the filter. So all told, $22 vs $96. And she is on SSDI. She could've had me or her brothers do it. Just wow on these prices. Folks, learn how to maintain your life! This is legit what it takes. Do the work if you really wanna be independant. The knowledge is out here.
That gm oil filter is collapsing from the synthetic oil...Get a mobil1 Amsoil, K@N or Fram Synthetic media top of the line filter...Fram synthetic oil filters are top notch..All have Synthetic media for Synthetic oil... Gm filters are ok for Conventional or semi synthetic oil..But not Full Synthetic or 100% synthetic
not gonna learn much at all from looking at filter regarding metal frags....if it looks dirty as it should than its doing its job....and needs replaced..but thanks for your video..you did a great job and helps people out..all I needed to know is where the oil filter was...new for me regarding new style filters...thanks again
Not really true. Excessive metal frags in oil filter will tell you if your engine bearings are damaged, piston ring is damaged, oil filter is defective or if there has been friction from poor oil maintenance.
Were are you at. Here in Hot Springs, AR you can get the AC Delco Synthetic blend oil change at the dealer for $38.00 and Ac Delco Dexos1 Full Synthetic Oil change for $68.00.
Dexos isn't an oil, it's GM's standard for oil. Any oil that is 5w-30 and has the Dexos logo on the bottle will be just fine. Mobil 1, Valvoline, Pennzoil, doesn't really matter. As long as they have the Dexos logo on the bottle, you're good to go!
These sicking cars are all dam different 😩 I regret wasting my money on this junk my oil doesn't go there my battery is different so is the fuse box can't pull up any codes because the obd plug in doesn't work worse car ever made fuc.... These ass holes take your bumper off to change a dam bulb evil 😈
For those wondering, the oil filter housing takes a 32mm socket. You'll want a low-profile one because a regular socket won't have enough clearance.
Thanks for the tip ,I bought the 33 mm socket for it ,thanks a lot for the video is very helpful
Unfortunately this is true. Don't even try and bullshit it.
Precisely what I was wondering thank you. Why Chevy does this we may never know
Its actually 31.75...
I just use a 32mm socket
Thank you Sir because of you and your very instructional video I was able to change my own oil.
Very helpful for locations of the bolts, filter etc. Thank you.
Appreciate the video. Was able to do it very easily with your information this morning in under an hour. Thanks!
Thank you! Did my first oil change today!

Makes a big difference which brand of filters u use ; some filters leave wads of filter media in the oil holes of the cam journals on ecotec
Okay, which ones are the bad ones?
AC Delco is OEM, so I'm putting money on that!

Holy shit this guy has 3 hands!!!

Good job! And thank you
I usually fill the oil to the dip line, start the vehicle and let it run for a second, then check oil and fill as needed. Usually 4.7 quarts.
U sure its not 4.6 or 4.8 quarts of oil?
Which way do you loosen the drain plug? My dealer left it tight and either which way is not giving. Afraid to strip the pan
Righty tighty lefty loosey
5 quarts of oil, its supposed to be at the top marker on the dip stick
I use an oil extractor that way I don't even have to rise the car.
Then you dont remove all of the oil, and it takes far longer
@@JM811Cars You actually remove more oil by extraction that you do when you drain it. It does take longer though.

No crush gasket on the engine oil plug?
Does it matter the oil filter you use if you are using synthetic oil
Is this technique used for the regular Chevy Malibu Ls 2011?
Yes
This engine has a lot of problems the trans burns quickly and a lot of moisture gets into the engine.
Check your airbox.
Thats odd. My 2011 Malibu has 197k n runs like a champ.
Good video
❤ Thank you
Where do you dispose of the used oil?
Walmart 😁
Neighbors yard, makes great fertilizer
Oh snap all this time I've been disposing it on my neighbor's yard lmfao
Put oil in empty milk jug,,, throw in trash. Come tradh day it'll be history.
Good job!
Did you jack the car up or have it on a ramp?
+Ranada25 I had it on ramps.
Thanks...that's next on my list of to buy before attempting this myself.😊
+Ranada25 It makes it so much easier than will a jack and jack stand.
How do you change back braces on it yet but it is not I too have how do you change the back brakes
How do you. Change back brakes
Thank you!

Dealer wanted 165$ to change my lowbeam driver side. 😤
I never understand why people use synthetic on such a shity f****** old car
Synthetic oil is great for these cars, it's when you get to a car that is actually old (pre 1990) that synthetic oil is a problem.
Thank you❤️
