    This is one of the hardest most kickass songs ever. Those guitar solos slay. If you want to check out their earlier, more mellow style then "Victim of changes" is a real masterpiece of a song! It's so groovy!

    Scott Travis- his first album with Judas Priest. Pretty good introduction, I'd say.

    Judas Priest was the first modern metal band. I think they were the first to eliminate any semblance of the blues in their music.

    This one you've got to see/listen/react. Mark Knopler's "Telegraph Road" in Sevilla 26.07.2015. 37 years after Dire Straits' Sutans of Swing". Mark Knopler is unbelievable in this live performance of his 1982 song, Telegraph Road. Knopler... Founder, lead guitarist and lead vocals of Dire Straits.

    I'm new to your reactions, making my way thru your vids from the beginning. I had to stop here cause Priest was my first musical obsession and given that it was your first reaction to them, I was interested what you were going to say about Painkiller. It could go any direction. Glad you saw it for what it is, a straightforward metal shredder. Great drums all the way through and it was probable that you would at least dig that. Anyway, I get it that not everyone would get on the bus after this track but I look forward to seeing what's next on this trip. Back to the list, thanks!

    I subscribe to 3 drummer channels and they all took some time before posting a video performance of this.(yeah I suggested this song several times to them. 😁) I understand why and they did an awesome job. One of them commented afterwards, "This song has the right title!" She didn't mean the medicinal definition of painkiller I'm guessing. 😅 🤙😎

    For metal, I've found some bands that aren't as dark. It's a sub-genre called "power metal"
    Sabaton
    Hammerfall
    Gloryhammer
    Here's one that is about a true story that happened a bit before Christmas:
    No Bullets Fly (by Sabaton. If you see the animated version, they tell the story before/after the song. The animated video had me in tears.)

      How you gonna bring up power metal and not include Manowar?

    • @aprilvoecks5877
      @aprilvoecks5877 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikethemotormouth Because Sabaton/Hammerfall were my gateway drug into power metal, so I think of them first. Gloryhammer was added because it's so over-the-top cheesy in its lyrics.
      I do like some Manowar, but they're a little hit or miss for some tastes, and I was trying not to make an overwhelming list. My thought was: First get him into the genre, THEN add more recommendations. If we give too many too quickly, it can turn someone off even starting because there's too many. A couple bites at a time is more doable.

    • @mikethemotormouth
      @mikethemotormouth 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aprilvoecks5877 ok understood, like introducing someone to industrial rock/metal but not including the somewhat polarizing Marilyn Manson as a starter

    • @aprilvoecks5877
      @aprilvoecks5877 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But now that I think about it, the power metal group Powerwolf has a cover of the Judas Priest son "Touch of Evil", and it fits their shtick very well. That might not be a bad starting point to bring someone deeper into power metal...

    As a rule, while well-intended, lyric videos are only slightly better than just showing the album cover (actually, this one is really pretty good). To get the proper effect of audio and visual combined, you need to be more selective and either pick an official video or live performance. Keep up the great work - love your approach to reactions.
