I've been driving myself batty trying to work this out from scratch, can't thank you enough for sharing your process, it's so generous of you!
I’m so glad it helped! ☺️
Thank You! You are so Awesome and so Kind to make this video for us! Your great at explaining and showing us how to make a card on Affinity! Exactly what I was looking for! Love your Art! Just Beautiful!
When you went through your settings, I noticed you kept this in RGB. Why do you not use CMYK for this since you are going to print it? I loved your video; I look forward to watching more. I'm in the throws of choosing a printer to make art prints and maybe one day greeting cards, etc. It really helps to see you walk us through it.
Thank you! This was such a helpful video
thank you, beautiful art work
You make that look so easy :) Still getting my head around Affinity, but that was a great help. Thanks
Thank you so much Shannon
Thank you Shannon. Great video, lots of helpful information.

Thank you so much! ☺️
Thank you Shannon!!!❤
That’s no problem! ☺️🤍
Thanks Shannon, that has given me some great info, as I am thinking of doing my own prints of my watercolours. Xx
I'm glad it's helped! Thank you so much xx
I came across your channel this week and love your content. Thank you for sharing your work flow and resources with us. I had the same problem as you when getting cards printed by outside companies. It was so expensive. So I have been looking for a nice quality card to print my own. You mentioned Wow Vow in one of your videos so I ordered some Tintoretto Gesso from them on Wednesday and it arrived this morning. Super speedy! I'll be running some test prints this afternoon 😀
I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos! The delivery is so quick there isn’t it, I’m always shocked when it turns up at my door the day after! I hope you like it ☺️
Excellent and informative video. I think I mentioned before how much I love your artwork ❤
Thank you so much Nancy 🥰
Hi Shannon, pleased you are loving your printer. Great video full of useful information 😀
Thank you so much Steph 🥰
Your work is absolutely beautiful. So talented. And so generous to share your process.
Aww thank you so much! ☺️
Shannon,
I have to say that you are truly a Stunning Artist and you should be truly Incredible Proud of your work and what you have achieved to date.
I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to watch many more of your videos...
That's really kind, thank you so much 🥹🤍
This is exactly what I was looking for and I already use Affinity! Thank you so much!
You’re welcome! I’m glad it helped ☺️
This is brilliant, thank you for sharing. I hope Epson and Affinity sponsor you soon! I always look forward to your videos, they're so down to earth and relatable.
Thank you so much!! Oh that would be fabulous one can only dream 😆
I’m so glad you look forward to them, thank you 🥹
Thanks so much for your video. It was helpful and well done.
I’m glad it was helpful! ☺️
Thank you for this really helpful and informative video 💛✨
I followed along and printed out a print (borderless) and seem to run into the same issue as you where my printer scales the document.
What exactly do you do to avoid this?
Your artwork is Amazing!
Thank you so much!
you are the best , thanks so much !! ❤
Thank you lovely lady! 🥹🤍
Thank you for this video! I just bought myself a Canon PIXMA so I can try printing my greeting cards and had absolutely no idea how to go about it .. I’m definitely going to look at Affinity Photo … I wish I had the printer and this video for the Easter cards I make for a couple of retirement homes but I have time to practice before Canada Day cards! 🥰
You’re most welcome! I hope it’s helpful to you ☺️
Affinity Photo is fab I used to pretty much every day! Enjoy your card making 🥰
Thanks for another informative and Educational video. I have been a subscriber for quit a while now. Today I bought an ET8550 after watching your previous videos. I am so impressed with the results that I have already achieved, thanks for your advice. Btw I am also using Affinity. Keep up the good work. 👍
You’re most welcome, I’m so glad you’re enjoying the printer after buying it on my recommendation! 😄
Thanks for your video.
I'm returning to art, and designing greetings cards seems to be the best route.
Tried limited prints before but spent my efforts on entirely the wrong subject and spent as much on advertising as I made in profits. That put me off painting for decades.
Earlier I started looking at prices set by printing firms and - no! I'll never sell a card for those prices! A good home printer is the way I have to go.
I'm a bit anti-tech, but fortunately know enough people who can't get enough of it.
Subscribed.
Lovely work by the way.
I also couldn’t warm to doing limited edition prints, it didn’t feel the way to go for me! I’m finding the home-printing, more commercially priced prints and cards is working better for me! ☺️
They’re not the easiest thing to run yourself but if you get a fairly simple one like this I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it 😊
Thank you so much!
Thank you for showing the print settings on your printer. I bought the same printer the Epson et-8500. I struggled to get the prints to look right. I will use your settings.
Thank you Shannon
That’s no problem I hope this has helped and you manage to get a decent print quality soon! ☺️
Very helpful , thanks 😅
I’m glad it was helpful! ☺️
Great video!
Thank you! 😄
Hi, really enjoyed your video thanks. Do you think I could use tinteretto gesso card paper on a epson xp-247 or xp-8500 please?
lovely images, hoping you are having a less of a dry sales January than me. i had this time of year because my sales are so low. Always picks up mid to end of feb though for some reason
Thank you! January is definitely a quieter month for me too so I’m spending the time I would usually be printing orders doing lots of website admin instead. I hope it picks up for you soon ☺️
Hi beautiful
Do you tjini that the ET8500 is a good printer for doing craft and projects with Cricut ? Such as boxes , customized cards for tables ?
Thank you so much for this video. I've been wanting to invest in my own decent printer to try home printing instead of outsourcing. I've found it's getting more and more expensive and feels a big risk with bulk orders of art pieces that might not sell as well as others, plus the storage situation is something to consider. I actually feel a bit nervous about spending that kind of money on a printer but feel its time to make the investment. So again, thank you for sharing your tips and opinions x
You’re very welcome! This printer is a good starting point and works out a lot cheaper than purchasing from printing companies, it’s just a little slow and sometimes gets jammed when using the thicker card stocks so just be aware of that if you decide to go for this one ☺️
I’ve printed so many cards and prints on it since I first bought it though and I still have so much ink left so it’s incredibly cost effective!
You’re most welcome I’m glad it helped x
Hi Shannon, sorry to bother you again but just have a quick question, I researched printers and your Epson 8500 seems like a good choice, I was thinking of trying for some high gloss paper images and was just wondering if you knew if your printer is any good for gloss paper ? thanks, Michael.
Thank you what perfect timing. I am just evaluating various printers and am very keen on this one. Do you know if the inks are light fast? I haven’t been able to find this info anywhere on the Epsom website. Once again many thanks for so generously sharing your knowledge.
I’ve just found this online:
Most inks are not designed to have an archival life span but the Epson EcoTank ET-8500 has a little trick up its sleeve. Using a different ink formulation that resists fading for up to 150 years, the Epson EcoTank ET-8500 will print out memories that will last longer than we will!
www.cartridgesdirect.com.au/printer-reviews/epson-ecotank-et-8500-printer-review#:~:text=Most%20inks%20are%20not%20designed,last%20longer%20than%20we%20will!
I’m not sure how accurate it is, but I assume this means they are lightfast! I hope this helps ☺️
Hi Shannon!
Thank you for all your videos! Your a great teacher! Which Affinity Photo do you have? Your link sends me to Affinity Designer 2. I can choose Designer, Photo, or Publisher. Not sure which one works for art work. Thank you for your help.
Hi Stephanie, you're most welcome! It's the Photo one I use ☺️
Thank you so much for this video, it was lovely to watch ans the cards are beautiful! May I ask what you think of the scanner of the Ecotank? I plan to order it but I hesitate about buying a separate scanner
Thank you so much! I've actually not tried it yet as I just use the Canon one, perhaps this would make an interesting test on a future video!
@@shannonmullin I'd sure appreciate that, thank you for your answer :) !
Hi Shannon, i have this printer. Great information. It's helped a lot. Do you print your bookmarks on there as well? I've tried printing on both sides of the bookmark, but just one side prints out. Any ideas, thanks😊
I’m glad it helped Sue! I haven’t to be honest it all sounds too confusing for me. I find bookmarks are fairly cheap to buy from printing companies, I use printed.com and they’re really inexpensive ☺️
I'm really enjoying your videos as I'm attempting to get into card making but I'm struggling to find the paper you use here in the states. Could you possibly let us know what the equivelent would be for the products you use for those of us watching from the states who have no idea what we're doing. I'm trying to find 300GSM textured cardstock for inkjets but I'm having no luck.
I'm glad you're enjoying them! Thank you 😊
I'm not too sure about the options in the states sorry, if I find out I will be sure to mention it in a video 🤍
This was a great video, subscribed! I was wondering if you’ve tried printing A4 envelopes on this printer? I don’t think it’s supposed to be able to handle that size of envelope but I’m curious if it’s worked for you. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I haven't tried that yet but if it can handle 300GSM card I imagine it would be ok? ☺️
Hi Shannon, thanks for a super helpful video. Can I ask if you have ever had any issues with your printer leaving vertical dented lines (no ink marks) on the page? I'm having that with a different Ecotank printer and all Epson will say is I have to use Epson paper... I'm thinking of switching up to the 8500 so would be interested to know if it plays nicely with all papers you've tried!
You’re very welcome! Yes I have this issue on Epson paper and non-Epson paper 🥲
It’s so annoying and is the biggest let-down of this printer!! It seems to do it on anything that’s a little thicker than the standard thin paper 😞
@@shannonmullinoh no, really? 😦 I heard someone had it and managed to return the printer (in my country it's possible if a product doesn't work properly) and then it worked for them (though they also experimented with paper, I'm pretty sure)
I'm looking into L8180 (which is a regional variant of ET 8550) and I'm particularly interested in how it behaves - are the prints lightfast enough with those Claria ET inks 🤔 :) and I also saw you mention the thicker paper tends to end up jammed 🤔 I plan to print mostly on thicker paper (I want to make prints of my watercolor paintings and other illustrations and it would look nice this way), so that would be important 😅
Thanks for sharing! Question: you used the tintoretto “paper" 300gsm not in the manual feed but the rear feed and it worked? It doesn’t get stuck?
I’ve tried both and it sometimes gets stuck in the rear feed. The manual feed is great for a smooth print and not getting stuck, but it doesn’t print borderless so I tend not to use it 😢
I just put up with it occasionally getting stuck in the rear feed instead! I’ve also been considering trying the 250GSM next time I make an order to see if that helps ☺️
@@shannonmullin I have finally tried 270 gsm paper in the rear tray and yeah! It saves me a ton of time because the manual feed doesn't do borderless. I had to cut every piece of paper.
Hiya, I am interested in the epson 8550 printer, but I have heard the 8550 leaves roller marks/indentations on some paper. Have you had that issue on yours? How thick is your epson art print paper? Thanks!
Hi I do have that issue sadly, it’s my least favourite thing about this printer 🥲
It happens on my 300GSM tinteretto gesso card and my Epson fine art textured cotton paper which is the most annoying part, as I’d have thought the Epson specific paper wouldn’t do it.
Most of the time it’s not noticeable enough to bother me too much but I’d rather it wasn’t an issue at all 🤍
5:08 hmm very interesting to see this side by side comparison
Thank you I hope it’s helpful!
Hi, love your content and your work. I also have the same printer as you and I’ve looked on your link to buy some of the 300gsm cardstock you recommended.
Can I please just ask do you order it in white or ivory? Also when you’re printing on that card what settings you put your printer on as sometimes mine seems either too late or too dark what sort of paper type do you put in? I’m currently doing Matt presentation paper. Do you turn up saturation/vibrancy etc… on your settings. Sometimes my printouts look a bit insipid and not sharp and vibrant.
Thanks x
Thank you so much! I think the colour is classed as 'gesso' for the one that I buy!
I use the velvet fine art paper setting on my printer and my software now for the Tintoretto card 😊
Yes sometimes I need to fiddle around with the saturation and vibrancy if it's printing a little dull! 🤍
@@shannonmullin Thankyou Shannon for the advice, look forward to you next vlog x
Can somebody please help me with the Epson 8550 printer? I cannot figure out the quality & color.
I have also brought the same printer! Please may I ask if these cards fit inside a C6 postage envelope? Also which size cello bags you order x
I hope you like it!! I think that's the size of envelopes I use ☺️
The 160mm cello bags 😊 x
Hi Shannon where do you get your cardboard boxes and envelopes for your packaging? Hugs xxx
Hi Emma I get most of them from eBay and wherever I can find that's the cheapest! I have used lots of different sites before I tend to just compare and go for the best one 🥰
Hi Shannon is this printer just an inkjet printer. If water accidentally goes on the design does it bleed.
Hi it is yes!
Hi Shannon, i have the same printer as you, but the a3 model.
Im having an absolute nightmare with printing my first set of cards, for the reason you mentioned about it scaling things up. Basically everything is printing slightly to the right, despite being centered in affinity😔
Please can you offer any advise? Ive watched so many videos but you're the only person who has mentioned this issue, and who has the same printer!
Ive added bleed, tested the exact dimensions vs adding on 3mm each side. Nothing seems to be working, unless i manually just eyeball it and guess, but this wont work for everything going forwards, so really hoping you can help🙏
Hi Leanne I’m so sorry you’re having issues, it always feels impossible to fix when it comes to printer problems 😭
Are you printing borderless or normal? I find when I print borderless it completely alters the size and positioning of everything 🥲
@@shannonmullin its not even giving me an option on that for some reason. I took some photos to show you but can't see anywhere to attach them on here :(
@@leannebroomhead2055 pop me an email and I’ll have a look 🤍
Shannonmullinportraits@gmail.com
Can this printer connect to phone to print too?
Hi yes there’s an app to connect it to your phone but I tend to prefer using desktop 😊
Photoshop is not 20 a month i pay 9.98 a month and i get photoshop and a ton of other programs and font creators etc too. i do use both this and Affinity but photoshop is way more flexible. also i hate how like in the video affinity only lets you go to 400 DPI which ok for prints but it is pretty odd to cap it that low
That’s good to know! As I only use it for fairly simple stuff it does the job for me but I can imagine it would be frustrating for more complex work!
"Promosm"
Thank you for this video. I was looking to buy this printer but I couldn't find videos that showed how illustrations look. It's really beautiful 🤍
You’re very welcome I’m glad it was helpful, thank you 🥰
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. 🩷. I wanted to ask you if you know of a thin smooth paper as I’d like to print a digital paper. Thank you.
