I drive mine too. I bought a 1970 Z28 4 speed back in '81 from the original owner. I ran into the orig owner 2 yrs ago and he asked me if it was for sale. I told him no and told him that a friend of mine owns 2 1970 Z28's if your interested and he said, "I want my car". My Wife said to him that I've taken real good care of it and he replied, "he's had it long enough". :)

outstanding video, totally captures the real meaning of passion for cars

So true, the real fun is in the road vibration you feel on the wheel, smell of the car, the noise, heat from the front mixed with the wind from the side windows, present and active inside, plan your turns and stops .. that's true love.

Back in 78 my older brother bought a 69 mach-1 428 car! I was 12 he was 16. He worked as a stockboy at the local supermarket. Saved his tips and paycheck to buy it. So many wonderful memories! Riding in and working together on that car. I can remember how that big block felt just sitting there idling. It left a lasting impression on me. It was GTOs and Camaros. Trifive Chevys after that. I'm 53 now still driving and wrenching on a hotrods.

Great story. One could choose any number of vehicles to satisfy their passion. For me, the '69 -'70 Spoertsroof Mustangs are stunning. Everything about those cars push my buttons. Perhaps one day, a '70, 351 Cleveland powered example, with updates suspension, braking and trans (just enough to make it safer and better suited to highway speeds) will reside in my driveway.

Nice car! The 351w is a great engine, from 1969-1973,the 351w's had a higher nickel content witch makes them alittle strongr and the heads are also pretty dam good, get some port work and little bigger valves and it will wake it up even more.nothing like spending some quality father-son time in a Mustang!

1969 Mach One is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. I would go with front discs though for safety. Would hate to damage or destroy that beauty because you couldn't stop in an emergency. I upgraded to front disc brakes on my 68 GTO and it was the best thing I have done to the car. I feel so much safer which really improves the driving experience.

Kudos to Dad for keeping it real, enjoying the car instead of restoring it for a decade and missing out on the experience of having your son drive and enjoy it beside you.
My father let me drive his ‘67 Galaxie, (yellow gold) home from McConnellsburg to Pittsburgh on the PA Turnpike the day I won both PA#1 plates in 20” & 24” BMX Racing. Up until my final main, seeing him await me at the finish after winning the 2nd State Championship, I thought it couldn’t get better, and then he pulled over in the on-ramp getting on to 76 West. He said: “You take it from here.” and that’s when I knew it was THEE BEST day I ever experienced with him, in his 3rd ‘67 Yellow Gold Galaxie XLT. Hearing the glass packs crackle decelerating through the Laurel Highlands was quite an experience for a 15 year old. Lol, yes, it was September ‘83 and I wasn’t turning ‘16 till November, but knowing he probably had a little sumthin-sumthin in his Coke, it was a lesser of the evil that evening as the sun set, dad relaxed enjoying a proud parent moment, (yes, I wasn’t factory sponsored like some of the other riders and we drove around older vehicles so I’m guessing he had grown a few inches watching me do so well against the other 15 Expert riders with more better equipment and more fortunate means).
Seeing this father and son enjoy an old Gold Ford took me back to a wonderful moment, and my heart pumping and my face grinning as I struggled to keep it at 55!
    Good stuff!

@@markh8301 Good catch, but he says at the 42 second mark that the car still has 4 wheel drums. Still, I agree with others that for calm cruising, drum brakes are just fine in good condition and properly adjusted. My '64 Falcon Sprint has 4 wheel drums and it stops very easily and nicely. I just don't dare take it on a track.

My uncle has one , he put a 428 CJ with the shaker hood in it and one day he let me drive it . Driving it down my street I got on it , just somewhat and it sat my head back in the seat .
After returning home my uncle ask me what I thought and if it could beat my Vette. At that time I had a 1970 Corvette 350/300hp 4 speed.
I knew it could tear my vette up but I told him ... My Vette would walk the dog on that Mustang. My uncle was shocked and just looked at me not saying anything else.
A short while later he had sold the Mustang to a friend for 1500.00 . I was so hurt that I didn't know about the sale cause I would have bought it in a flash.

My first car it cost $1,000 in 1975 . It was like new no rust . Black , 4 speed , Posi , 351 . It was the nicest car in my high school. I thought so any way . I might be wrong but i think mine had disc breaks up front . I would gladly trade my corvette 4 it right now .
