    Your solo skiff vids helped me decide to get one. Thanks TY. Got my skiff, trailer and 5HP Merc. Took a while to gather all 3 but I will put it in water soon.

      @@30mofishing In 2015 you were part of the reason I bought a Hobie Outback as well. Do me a favor. Don't buy a triple motor center console.

    Just went out and bought a new Outback. I dropped about $4,700 with fish finder and mods. I haven't floated it yet. I realized it's too much of a pain in the ass to lift it on top of my Honda Element and also my storage space is pretty narrow so it's also difficult to walk it through. These seem ideal. I would just get a trailer and leave it there. Good video. Thank you

    Yes! Loving mine too.
    I have been out 3 times and feel like I have barely used any gas at all (non-ethanol)
    Just got the Mavic Mini and I took off and landed it right off the bow of the Solo Skiff. Check out that Mavic Mini.
    I just posted that video.
    I’m currently unloading and loading it in the back of my short bed truck.
    One day I’ll get a trailer.
    Academy Sports has some really good reasonably priced trailers.

    I'm enamored of your Solo Skiff. BTW I run E10 in my small Mercury outboard and have done it for almost 15 years. In that time I've replaced the Thermostat and the alternator. Carb has never been cleaned or opened. Just a little Stabil once in a while in the fuel.

    Thanks for the update Ty. No justification necessary, you wanted it, you bought it you love it. It ain't a boat, and, it ain't a kayak, but a kayak and a boat ain't a skiff. Each has its advantages, and disadvantages, but it works great for you and probably would be good for most anybody. Plus the total cost is about the same as a cheap used car. It;s affordable, and safe. I think I'll look into one too.

  • @ratdog3055
    @ratdog3055 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You are smart to use non-ethanol gas for your outboard. I use nothing but what they call "Rec 90" on all my small engines 2 and 4 stroke. Have not had a problem for several years now.

  • @woodystemms3799
    @woodystemms3799 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There aren't many "water resistant" small boat / kayak trailers light enough to tow safely without brakes. Be sure to check with the manufacturers specs for your tow vehicle. The trade-offs, both in weight and cost, are considerable. This coming Spring, we'll probably end up with a "Malone" kit - nationally distributed, Chinese made. There's only one trailer we could find that comes with a torsion axle, from a custom maker several states away, and it's still under consideration. To a certain extent, distance is also a factor. Long stretches of Interstate, at speed, in windy or wet conditions, make brakes and/or torsion axle much more desirable.

    • @gazjaz2010
      @gazjaz2010 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ?? no. this tiny 150 lb boat on an appropriate size trailer is not going to need trailer brakes... how much towing have you done? none?

      Different animals. Find a cheap used 2012-13 Hobie. Great fir day to day quick trips. Long range drive trips. Offshore. Then get a solo for epic fun.

    Hi, nice video been watching some of your videos and saw on that you tried out a Hero 130 skiff. How does it compare to the Solo Skiff? main concerns are stability and durability. Help fellow fisherman brother out. lol

    • @30mofishing

      I like hero because I can easily put it in truck. Solo needs a trailer for me. Much heavier all around. Both are stable. Depending on your weight

    On the shaft length. Is it short 15” or long 20” or extra long 25”??? Also. Is it the sail pro model. I’m looking to purchase me a solo. And I’m in The Texas salt waters. So I want a good motor that can handle the waters.

    How well can you paddle it around? How does it compare to paddling a regular kayak?

    • @30mofishing
      @30mofishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that's a negative... I don't paddle it at all . this is not a kayak to me. its a micro skiff. I treat it like a skiff. I boat launch it off a trailer. I motor up a flat and drift with a drift sock.. or I push pole a flat on calm days and sight cast off the platform with fly or spin. much like u would with a poling skiff.

    Hello ty thanks for sharing. What’s your opinion on hoodoo hero 13 skiff for ocean fishing? What motor would you suggest on it?

    • @30mofishing
      @30mofishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      really depends on the ocean. around here I would not really use anything with an outboard off the beach. Florida, for sure..

    Hope you can respond, I am hesitant on pulling the trigger to purchase one. Is this thing something that can be carried on roof racks? I have Yakima racks that have rollers so it prevents it from hurting the kayak or car. Please advise

    • @30mofishing
      @30mofishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      in my opinion .... no... for me it needed to be on a trailer and backed in. I have trouble putting it in a pickup truck and sliding it in... its boat that needs a trailer and some sort of launch.
