Thank you for a great video. I have been doing embroidery and punch needle for years, so have probably around 150+ cards of Dmc floss. Then I decided to go to number 8 perle cotton so I can work right off the ball and not have to separate floss. Well, they don’t have enough colors and it costs. I was trying to separate the 6 strand into 3 and then separate those, but was using a weight, stand on a ladder and get the longest piece of thread I could, which was a royal pain. So now I watched your video and I am doing it your way, but I am going to do quite a few when doing a large area and put them on an empty wooden spool to use with my spool buddy.

I'm new and looking for more thinner yarn thread, string etc haha I know absolutely nothing about this. I bought a basic kit off Amazon and it has 3 pics to do, I tried doing the leaf but the yard is so thick I want to find something more detailed so it looks like actually embroidery instead of old school looking latch hook.

O love all your videos. I finally found video 1. By using a flimsy needle threader I put it through the needle hole then down the shaft. When I pull it out it’s threaded and ready to go.
I favorited your Etsy shop yesterday, and a friend on Insta was working on one of your designs today. I went back to your shop to purchase one for myself. Hi Kate! What gripper frame system are you using? I just hate the hoops, as everything always loosens while punching. I even tried sewing the fabric into the hoop all around. It’s better, but I want the gripper system. Did you buy or make your system? I didn’t see a video where it is explained.
M.A. Enriquez ... good morning, My frame is a gruber frame, it’s a lap stand that I mounted to a tv stand I had kicking around. The gripper cover was made out of scrap weavers cloth padded with quilt batting. Make sure when you purchase a frame that it tilts and swivels....also a minimum of12” can be used as a hooking frame, if you decide to try a hooking hobby. Hope this helps......Kate

I sell the CTR needles in my shop. When you purchase a printed pattern you can opt to have it pre printed on fabric or with plain weavers. The DMC can be found at any craft store. Valdani I purchase online. I can recommend the Morgan hoops but much prefer a rug hookers frame for freedom of the hands and good posture, if your going to punch a while. And a sharp pair of scissors...that’s it! If you purchase a frame, make sure it rotates, spins in a circle. The videos give you other tricks and tips. There are 8 total! Enjoy your new venture. Take your time speed will come naturally. Kate
Can you show how you store all those single and double thread leftovers that you pulled from the skein? How do you store all the flosses in your studio too. Thanks. I also found your technique of bundling 6 skeins together fascinating and organized way to keep threads. Otherwise, a single skein just falls apart, and tends to knot in a jumble.

Michele, I believe they are not making CTR needles anymore. But the Igolochkoy needles are very much the same. I think CTR were made in the USA. They are now retired. The needles are much finer than the ultra punch. So if you are looking for detail work, it's the way to go. The 1-3 and 6 strand is exactly what they are named. I always worked in 1 - 3 strand never 6. I was looking for detail. There are 8 videos in total. It should answer your questions. Enjoy your new venture. Kate

Your videos are amazing. Your steps by step tutorials are so very helpful and make this punch needle look so easy. Not sure why, but I have been unable to find a CTR punch needle for sale anywhere. I thought I had found the “CTR Needleworks” punch needle, but could not find a way to actually purchase it. I also found some on Etsy but they weren’t labeled as CTR punch needles. Can you please direct me to where I can find them? I thank you in advance for this information.
@Vicki V CTR company has retired. The Igolochkoy is basically made the same as the CTR. A very good needle. I recommend them over the Ultra punch needles if you are looking to do any detail work with 1 and 3 strands of floss. Kate
I found my old way more efficient. I use 3 parts of my body - my mouth and my hands; I clamp 3 strands with my mouth, 1 hand grabs the other 3 and my remaining holds on to the main 6floss and pull. clamping and unclamping per stretch got me my separated strands in less than half the time than when I did the individual strand removal. There was less snagging too. But whatever works for you, go with it :) P.S I use Thread Magic with my thread - decreases fraying and getting knots/snags.

This is called a hookers frame..and it is mounted to a TV foldable eating table. The brand is gruber.
