    If the owner followed JLR's OCI of 16K miles, then this LR/RR has a death sentence to it. Majority of car manufactures require 10K miles or less OCI. Even Ford requires 7.5K miles OCI on their vehicles and that is using Full Synthetic oil.

    Is there still a drain plug.........Kidding! That built in the drain tube is brilliant. Might do this over the weekend.

      And......Just finished. Holy crap, no more crawling on the ground, cleaning up spilled oil, skid plate removal. Buying a $100 mityvac was the best money ive spent in a while.

    Probably a long shot but is the oil a certain type? Like Mercedes they use a 5w-40 European formula but I can’t find anything on the Range Rover if it’s just regular 5w-20 Castro edge or if it also requires the European formula…

    What size tube are you using to connect to the extraction port? And you do not have to fill through the same port just add it with a standard funnel correct?

    • @penguinmtz
      @penguinmtz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's about 1/4 inch flexible hose, and yes just fill it through the oil fill cap on the valve cover, doesn't matter if it goes down the tube or around it, it all goes down to the oil pan

    Cost on Amazon for a 2 gal extractor … $80, local parts stores will recycle the oil for free

    Why does the oil cap reference 0W-20, but you put in 5W-30?

    • @penguinmtz
      @penguinmtz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      5w20 was used. According to the Land Rover workshop manual vehicles manufactured up to 2015 take 5w20 or 0w20, vehicles manufactured from 2015-current take 0w20.

    Just drain it from the bottom. I don't trust those hoses, I have seen problems.

    • @penguinmtz
      @penguinmtz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ehh.. even draining from the bottom doesn't necessarily get all debris out from the oil pan. Inside most oil pans aren't exactly all flat. Seen metal and debris still on the bottom of oil pans on engines that had normally drained oil changes. Either method works and if the Land Rover engineers designed these engines to be serviced like this way I am with it. Especially with how quick and easy it is 😊

      That is exactly how your Land Rover shop will do it. Do you think they will go through all the work involved underneath to drain from the drain bolt? The idea works flawlessly. Have been doing it this way for a while now on my 2012 Range Rover Supercharged, full size, out here in hot Arizona. I never go over 4,000 miles though between changes. I'm old school I guess.

    SHOULD IT BE AIR FLOW DOWN ?

    • @penguinmtz
      @penguinmtz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but this filter just has a up orientation to indicate which side should face up

    • @ravenbonanza1522
      @ravenbonanza1522 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should face UP where the arrow indicates on the filter. If you take the black tray out where the filter sits you'll see a reminder that the arrow should be pointed UP
