I would like to add that as of Scarlet and Violet, Furret can now learn Tidy Up meaning not only is it a perfect little guy, he also helps cleans up any messes around the house and that’s lovely

A Meganium helping the yard grow, a Granbull snoozing on the porch, a Smeargle painting a picture of the scene, a Ledian sleeping beside it and a Quagsire just...being Quagsire in the pond sounds like a great life to live in the pokeworld
Meganium is perfectly fine when you're not playing as a traveling trainer who goes around making a living from battles. The usual lens of a Pokémon game just refuse to play to this particular Pokémon's good points. In a straight up pet simulator game like Nintendogs where caretaking is the main focus it's easily one of the greatest starter lines.

The anti-Dark slander in this video was unforgivable (not really, but he did really unfairly paint Dark-types in a worse light than they deserve). Meanwhile, he gives fucking _Delibird_ 4/5 on safety when it has a chance of having a _bomb_ in its present. And don't even get me started on giving the _Fairy-type_ a 5/5 type bonus, when, like, 90% of Fairy lore is about them being mischevious tricksters who like to fuck with humans, in particular.
I feel like Dark gets too bad a rap. It being called "Evil" in Japanese doesn't necessarily make it the wicked horror Satan type like most people think it does. Mostly it's just them heeling on the opponent with dishonorable tactics like biting, stealing held items and ganging up with a group attack
Plus the dex is most likely talking about wild behaviours so a captured and trained pokemon, regardless of type, will behave. A Pokemon that definitely fits the "Evil only in type" group is Absol. Poor thing just wants to help people :'(

Considering that Lugia purposefully stay deep below the waves to ensure it doesn't cause the 40 year storm, I'm surprised that its behavior score isn't higher. A Pokemon smart enough to know that its dangerous and sets up itself to try to not harm anyone should have a higher score since, if you have it in your house, it'll likely do whatever it can to avoid causing whatever harm or devastation to you or its surroundings however possible. And, since Lugia would need to flap its wings to do damage and can walk, I would think Lugia would get to places by either walking or using Psychic to fly, rather than its wings.
There's a _reason_ Kalosians, Hoennians, and Kantonians insist that Mega Evolving a Pokémon basically requires you _already having_ a close bond with said individual Pokémon; it's because if you don't do that, well, Alolans already demonstrated that for me.
I personally headcanon that, all of those horrible side effects are what happens if you DON'T have the strong bond with your pokemon. Because making the ultimate display of love between a trainer and pokemon actively deadly for them is stupid and only there because they wanted to get rid of the gimmick.

Yeah, the storyline Houndoom in Gen 9 really puts that -9 into perspective, where it's also HIGHLY TERRITORIAL and sics some Houndours after you to drive you and the box legendary off (at best!). It gets to the point where the Box Legendary starts to protect you despite the only bond you have with it is...feeding it with your mom's sandwich. So, if a Paldean Houndoom doesn't want you around...count your prayers
Umbreon sweating poison is only referenced in gen 2, never happens in other media, and Umbreon learns little to no poison type moves (ignoring Toxic). That dex entry was likely a leftover from development when Umbreon wasn't a dark type.
Toxic used to be one of those things that everyone and their children got anyway. Umbreon having it can't even be called a nod to its beta Poison typing when the likes of Jigglypuff can have it.

None of Houndoom's Pokédex entries suggest that this stops being the case after evolution; so it's more of a difficult pet than a bad one.

Dusknoir doesn't actively target humans on a whim like a lot of Ghost types. It's just a dutiful grim reaper who visits the near-dead. I would say it might be a higher scoring outlier for this type, much better than Drifblim, Spiritomb, and Froslass.

Certainly not bottom five material to any extent. The worst you might level against it is perhaps being standoffish and the dread of knowing what it's doing when you can't find it in your house. Dusknoir is like having a pet who has a day job, really.
I constantly forget that Skarmory was introduced in this generation; My first view of it was in Ruby, when I found it on the volcanic ash route. Edit: Also, I'm sad, but not surprised that Houndoom is the worst of the worst. It's my favorite Fire type of all Pokémon, because I'm an edgy 14 year old at heart at the end of the day.

Magcargo's Temperature would NOT ignite the atmosphere, temperatures reach that high on earth in multiple places. Doesn't make it any better as a pet, do not bring it into your house, it WILL ignite that.

It's a sweet pupper that doesn't like fighting and actively detects and warns people about impending threats to their safety. If that doesn't give it 6+ in Behavior and Safety to offset its typing, I don't know what would.

Crobat is my favorite 'Mon ever (aside from the funny lawnmower) so I can definitely appreciate their score. But I'd like to advocate for their housing- sure, they're staggeringly large, but bats have some narrow bones and handy cartilaginous structures that allow 'em to squeeze into some pretty tight spots. Make sure they have access to the outdoors so they can fully spread their wings, silence their prey so the charges can't stick, and I think you'd have a happy life together!
There was an episode of Pokemon during the Johto Era where Misty and her Togepi get separated, and a Houndoom that works for a delivery service finds Togepi and takes care of it until it finds Ash, Misty, and Brock again. So they aren't all bad.
I think there's a lot you can say about Stantler. It's a deer, so you'll need land for it to graze. A deer would be akin to a bunny, you need to make it feel comfortable and safe or it could be prone to stress. You're definitely not bringing it inside, if you startle it then it's going to wreck the place. Then there's the final odd point of Stantler's horns being capable of hypnotizing creatures.
It's funny how he mentioned how plain Stantler is, meanwhile there's entries in the dex saying that it basically just creates distortions in reality casually

Just don't learn him explosion. (4 just because of move Explosion) 5. Genuinely makes me mad how they turned megas into a “bad thing” when Gen 6’s whole thing was about pokemon and people’s relationships. I will forever say that mega pokemon only feel pain if someone who doesn’t care for them does the evolution. I can't wait for the gen 3 ranking when I can cheer for Skitty/Delcatty pet supremacy. They're just cute little cats! Emerald Dex: A SKITTY's adorably cute behavior makes it highly popular. In battle, it makes its tail puff out. It threatens foes with a sharp growl. Sapphire: DELCATTY sleeps anywhere it wants without keeping a permanent nest. If other POKéMON approach it as it sleeps, this POKéMON will never fight - it will just move away somewhere else. Sadly there isn't a lot of spicy dex variety... it just talks about how Skitty likes to chase its tail and how Delcatty likes clean environments.
I would like to point out for the benefit of many potential decent pet Pokemon, that just because something is toxic it doesn't mean that it's immediately or even long term dangerous to humans.
also, keep in mind despite being MAGMA, macargo and slugma both probably have CORE temperatures near the pokedex entries, which would then drop dramatically, given that it's got a shell of decidedly not molten Basalt rocks. Still though, [DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARE SKIN].
The one I'm excited for you to get to is Absol. The nicest dark type. Should you ever go that many generations of this. And Murkrow has always been my fave pokemon, but I completely agree with your review of them.

The pokedex entries state that it is AWARE of disasters and tries to warn people of them, but because it always shows up just before the disaster, people assume that Absol was the cause of them. However, Absol is literally just trying to be a good dog-thing and make sure people don't get hurt.

The anti-Dark slander in this video was unforgivable (not really, but he did really unfairly paint Dark-types in a worse light than they deserve). Meanwhile, he gives fucking _Delibird_ 4/5 on safety when it has a chance of having a _bomb_ in its present. And don't even get me started on giving the _Fairy-type_ a 5/5 type bonus, when, like, 90% of Fairy lore is about them being mischevious tricksters who like to fuck with humans, in particular.
I feel like Dark gets too bad a rap. It being called "Evil" in Japanese doesn't necessarily make it the wicked horror Satan type like most people think it does. Mostly it's just them heeling on the opponent with dishonorable tactics like biting, stealing held items and ganging up with a group attack
Plus the dex is most likely talking about wild behaviours so a captured and trained pokemon, regardless of type, will behave.

Considering that Lugia purposefully stay deep below the waves to ensure it doesn't cause the 40 year storm, I'm surprised that its behavior score isn't higher. A Pokemon smart enough to know that its dangerous and sets up itself to try to not harm anyone should have a higher score since, if you have it in your house, it'll likely do whatever it can to avoid causing whatever harm or devastation to you or its surroundings however possible. And, since Lugia would need to flap its wings to do damage and can walk, I would think Lugia would get to places by either walking or using Psychic to fly, rather than its wings.

There's a _reason_ Kalosians, Hoennians, and Kantonians insist that Mega Evolving a Pokémon basically requires you _already having_ a close bond with said individual Pokémon; it's because if you don't do that, well, Alolans already demonstrated that for me.
I personally headcanon that, all of those horrible side effects are what happens if you DON'T have the strong bond with your pokemon. Because making the ultimate display of love between a trainer and pokemon actively deadly for them is stupid and only there because they wanted to get rid of the gimmick.

Yeah, the storyline Houndoom in Gen 9 really puts that -9 into perspective, where it's also HIGHLY TERRITORIAL and sics some Houndours after you to drive you and the box legendary off (at best!). It gets to the point where the Box Legendary starts to protect you despite the only bond you have with it is...feeding it with your mom's sandwich. So, if a Paldean Houndoom doesn't want you around...count your prayers

Umbreon sweating poison is only referenced in gen 2, never happens in other media, and Umbreon learns little to no poison type moves (ignoring Toxic). That dex entry was likely a leftover from development when Umbreon wasn't a dark type.
Toxic used to be one of those things that everyone and their children got anyway. Umbreon having it can't even be called a nod to its beta Poison typing when the likes of Jigglypuff can have it.
It was also referenced in Sun, so it’s probably no mistake.

He's got such a comedic and remarkable personality, as well as an interesting editing style.

While those poisonous, foul-smelling flames that allegedly never heal and dread-inspiring howls aren't desirable for a pet, Houndour's Ultra Sun Pokédex entry tells us that the puppies are very loyal and obedient towards their trainers. None of Houndoom's Pokédex entries suggest that this stops being the case after evolution; so it's more of a difficult pet than a bad one.
Just don't catch a Houndoom from the wild. Adopt the puppy from a credible breeder instead.

@woobgamer5210 There's actually some reason to believe that Banette isn't bottom 5 material given it's only stated to be vindictive towards the one who abandoned it... but at the same time, adopting one for yourself is just holding it back
Dusknoir doesn't actively target humans on a whim like a lot of Ghost types. It's just a dutiful grim reaper who visits the near-dead. I would say it might be a higher scoring outlier for this type, much better than Drifblim, Spiritomb, and Froslass.

Dusknoir does the literal opposite of wanting to kill children by visiting the dying elders and transporting their souls to the afterlife following their death. Certainly not bottom five material to any extent. The worst you might level against it is perhaps being standoffish and the dread of knowing what it's doing when you can't find it in your house.
Dusknoir is like having a pet who has a day job, really.
I constantly forget that Skarmory was introduced in this generation; My first view of it was in Ruby, when I found it on the volcanic ash route.
Edit: Also, I'm sad, but not surprised that Houndoom is the worst of the worst. It's my favorite Fire type of all Pokémon, because I'm an edgy 14 year old at heart at the end of the day.

Magcargo's Temperature would NOT ignite the atmosphere, temperatures reach that high on earth in multiple places.

It's a sweet pupper that doesn't like fighting and actively detects and warns people about impending threats to their safety. If that doesn't give it 6+ in Behavior and Safety to offset its typing, I don't know what would.

Crobat is my favorite 'Mon ever (aside from the funny lawnmower) so I can definitely appreciate their score. But I'd like to advocate for their housing- sure, they're staggeringly large, but bats have some narrow bones and handy cartilaginous structures that allow 'em to squeeze into some pretty tight spots. Make sure they have access to the outdoors so they can fully spread their wings, silence their prey so the charges can't stick, and I think you'd have a happy life together!

There was an episode of Pokemon during the Johto Era where Misty and her Togepi get separated, and a Houndoom that works for a delivery service finds Togepi and takes care of it until it finds Ash, Misty, and Brock again. So they aren't all bad.
I think there's a lot you can say about Stantler. It's a deer, so you'll need land for it to graze. A deer would be akin to a bunny, you need to make it feel comfortable and safe or it could be prone to stress. You're definitely not bringing it inside, if you startle it then it's going to wreck the place. Then there's the final odd point of Stantler's horns being capable of hypnotizing creatures.

Genuinely makes me mad how they turned megas into a “bad thing” when Gen 6’s whole thing was about pokemon and people’s relationships. I will forever say that mega pokemon only feel pain if someone who doesn’t care for them does the evolution. I just bought it just because I need Ogerpon and (less so) Ursaluna Blood Moon for competitive. Also apparently there's an amazing item charm that gives you more Tera shards if you complete the Kitakami pokedex

Sapphire: DELCATTY sleeps anywhere it wants without keeping a permanent nest. If other POKéMON approach it as it sleeps, this POKéMON will never fight - it will just move away somewhere else.
Sadly there isn't a lot of spicy dex variety... it just talks about how Skitty likes to chase its tail and how Delcatty likes clean environments.
I would like to point out for the benefit of many potential decent pet Pokemon, that just because something is toxic it doesn't mean that it's immediately or even long term dangerous to humans.
also, keep in mind despite being MAGMA, macargo and slugma both probably have CORE temperatures near the pokedex entries, which would then drop dramatically, given that it's got a shell of decidedly not molten Basalt rocks. Still though, [DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARE SKIN].

The one I'm excited for you to get to is Absol. The nicest dark type. Should you ever go that many generations of this. And Murkrow has always been my fave pokemon, but I completely agree with your review of them.
Absol is a literal harbinger of disaster. Having one as a pet is gonna lead to you having a bad time, but it's not really _Absol's_ fault.
@@EinDose Absol is not a harbinger of disaster. The pokedex entries state that it is AWARE of disasters and tries to warn people of them, but because it always shows up just before the disaster, people assume that Absol was the cause of them. However, Absol is literally just trying to be a good dog-thing and make sure people don't get hurt.
@@TheZombieMack I dunno, it's kinda hard to get a read on if we're looking at 'Absol notices disasters and turns up early' or 'Absol unconsciously brings disaster'. But either way, you ARE getting blamed for every single bad thing that happens on your block.
@EinDose The pokedex entries LITERALLY say that Absol is incorrectly accused of being the harbinger, and is, in fact, trying to warn people. The second part, yeah. Mainly by old people.
