  • A Post Office boss will give evidence to the Horizon scandal inquiry on Friday a day after she was accused of misleading the High Court.
Angela van den Bogerd, who was in charge of handling complaints about Horizon from 2010, told the High Court in 2019 that she did not know subpostmasters’ branch accounts could be accessed remotely before 2018.
Testifying under oath in March 2019, Ms van den Bogerd told the court in the case of Mr Bates vs the Post Office she had first become aware transactions could be inputted without a sub-postmaster’s knowledge the previous year.

Here's what's on her Linked-In: Angela Van Den Bogerd MBA, MCIPD
People & Change Director, NED experience
Accomplished HR senior leader with experience gained across the people function within a large, complex, unionised, regulated, multi site, UK organisation and more recently with a SME. Skilled at transitioning seamlessly between strategic people management and organisational effectiveness, at ease in the boardroom and with the front line, creates an organisational climate to enable people to work at their best. A vibrant, collaborative and engaging business leader with broad corporate experience gained through a variety of roles - HR, transformational change, customer service, operations, commercial, HR shared services, crisis management, project management - renowned for her drive, resilience, adaptability and proven track record in leading and facilitating business change has inspired people to embrace new ways of working and repeatedly deliver excellent service and sustainable business results.
So how come she didn't read or didn't understand messages sent to her, didn't understand anything she was told and can't remember anything? Surely she should change her Linked-In to something appropriate like "Very poor memory, difficulty reading and concentrating on anything. But happy to get huge salary and bonuses for being useless."

Judge Peter Fraser criticised Van De Bogherd her testimony and said she "did not give me frank evidence, and sought to obfuscate matters, and mislead me".
Beer KC, lead counsel to the inquiry, challenged Ms van den Bogerd's opening statement, as he accused her of not saying sorry for her own role in the scandal…
The actions and motives were to save money and for personal gain in the way of significant benefits & bonus pay outs!!! Not to protect the brand.., it was to protect shareholders and save the business from going bankrupt!!

It was mentioned she was made redundant n 2019 - effectively this would have enabled her to receive her gold plated final salary pension with no penalties!!! Was that for services rendered to the PO exec? In any other 'reputable' organisation she would have been sacked for gross misconduct and lost her pension rights - rather than lumbering the taxpayers to pay her a nice income for the rest of her life. Given her obvious failures to be sufficiently inquisitive (even giving her the benefit of the doubt that she wasn't willfully lying) and the impact of her failures on sub postmasters lives and contributing to the dire reputation of the PO - it is beyond belief she was simply made redundant.

Hoping these forensic examinations of POL witness statements plus other info gleaned in the process , will reveal who knew or didn't know what, what exactly they did or didn't do about it and leave no-one doubting what legally and morally they should have done.

    Fujitsu made a mess.
    Covered up
    Post office realised this
And got in to deep prosecutions.
    Covered up.
    Then worked together.
The government trusted the upper management to be honest.
    Because they are like
    Themselves.

Still doesn’t explain how the excess money paid back by post masters wasn’t fully accounted… errors would be spotted on every system if all was fully accounted for , giving the post office the ability to generate their own funds from nowhere!!!

I don’t think so, I don’t remember, not as I read that, etc. etc. Nothing that resulted in this outrageous perversion of justice had anything to do with me. Hmm very convincing 😩

I have watched all of these interviews from post office management, one glaring realisation, is the absolute poor quality of personal employed in positions of influence and governance. The bonuses involved as well basic salaries, are so out of kilter with abilities. I do understand now, why they've closed ranks. No chance would these individually or collectively be offered these types of renumerations at any other company.
