    I am the same on the celebrity vs average Joe. For me it depends more on the story they share and not necessarily whether or not they are famous. I also tend to see things from different sides. It seems like as soon as I make a decision one way, I see another point of view and then I'm torn!!

    • @ellenmadebookclub
      @ellenmadebookclub  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes! The fame might be part of the story, but it’s not that interesting in itself. It’s like someone writing a book about how popular they are 😅 Obviously they’re human too, but yeah, there needs to be something more to it.
      It’s exhausting sometimes, but a good thing as well I think. Not falling too easily into either or. Omg I’m doing it right now haha 😂

    Thank you for doing the tag. We set some impossible choices and often the answer has to be a bit of both. Grayscale is a good way to describe it.
    I'm glad it inspired you to pick up a book you have been meaning to get to and it turned out to be a good one. We all have a fair few of those.

    • @ellenmadebookclub

      Thank you for making it! 😊 Yes grayscale has actually been a nickname of mine, because I very rarely see things as black or white.
      I look forward to reading more memoirs and biographies, which I never thought I would say! 😄

    Oh I love reading letters! The letters of Nicholas and Alexandra are probably my favorite, but I also enjoyed Jane Austen's. I have letters by the Brontes on my shelf waiting to be read as well.

      @@ellenmadebookclub well I just bought American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer. I enjoyed Oppenheimer the movie so I decided to read the book to get all the juicy details haha. Other than that I love Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. It’s about the life of Louis Zamperini, an Olympian WW2 vet. The book is non fiction but written like a fictional tale because his life is just amazingly unbelievable !

      @ellenmadebookclub  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry for the late response, TH-cam decided to flag this for some reason. But that's a great recommendation! I haven't seen the movie yet but I definitely will. Unbroken sounds very intense as well, but it does sound like a good one! Adding that! Thanks!

    Love the grey scale, it’s so relatable 😂😂 Our personalities are so similar, I am always seeing both sides to everything too! I can’t remember if you’ve read Know My Name but it’s my favorite memoir (tied with Finding Me)!

      No, I haven't read it, but reading the synopsis it sounds exactly like something I would watch a documentary about, so definitely adding that! Thanks!
      It made me think of... Victim/Suspect I think it's called, on Netflix, if you've seen that? And the Unbelievable mini series. Ugh, too many cases, but I think it's good to stay aware, I guess.

    I had to come visit your channel after the comment you have left me! I have only started reading biographies last year (only read three haha) and I quite enjoy them. I also have Finding Me by Viola Davis on my physical tbr but still haven´t gotten to it yet. But Jennette McCurdy´s one was a highlight for me.

I’m getting back into reading since last year, so I’m kind of finding my way with it again, to see what I like. And I think I might enjoy memoirs more than I thought I would! What were the other two that you read?

    • @Olgyta
      @Olgyta 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ellenmadebookclub That's awesome. The others were Spare by Prince Harry, because it seemed like everyone was reading it back in January of 2023 and Paris Hilton's memoir. Spare wasn't too bad but I feel like it was quite boring at times and based on your preferences wouldn't be the one for you. The Paris Hilton one was actually interesting since she had a troubled childhood and therefore a lot to say.
