As soon as you said "Victoria's Secret," I wondered if the Christmas beau's mom picked out the present. The conversation might have gone down like this: Christmas beau: Mom, I have no idea what to get her for Christmas. Mom: Well, what does she like? My "worst" date was probably when I was about 16, so a few years ago now. There was this guy that I meet at youth group and I thought he was really cute, started talking to him and within a week, we're on a date. So we meet up for lunch and realize neither of us have any idea where we are going for lunch. Which triggers my inability to make decisions, however he is trying to be a gentleman and is like "you choose I'll go wherever you want to go" and eventually (after a good 15ish minutes) we end up at subway. I have not been to subway at that point since I was 10 and threw up in their rubbish bin. We order our food (which is stressful enough) and get our drinks and sit down to eat. At this point I am so nervous my hands are literally shaking and I spill my entire drink everywhere. Literally everywhere, except on myself. It's all over the table, on him, on the floor, literally going out the door and down the street. I then go up to the subway server and I'm like "Hi, can I have some napkins" and they gave me one, to which I say "I just spilled my drink" they give me two more and walk away. So we attempt to clean up my mess with 3 napkins, and ultimately, it results in us taking our food and running away. We then sit outside for 3 hours, in summer. My only topic of conversation I can think of is disgusting injury stories, so basically all i learnt about him was all the ways him and his family members have horribly injured themselves, and vice versa. This 3 hour sin the sun that results in us both being badly sunburnt. I guess it can't have been that bad though, because he continued to see me after that and is now my husband.

Loved this concept! Oh, Emma--the laptop one! My worst date was the only time I ever went on a 'let's go to the movies' date. It was this guy I wasn't even sure I liked that much, but he had said he'd take me to see 'Jennifer's Body' which I really wanted to go to. Unbeknownst to me, because of the rating we couldn't actually buy the tickets ourselves so we had to go with his older brother who sat directly behind us in a more or less empty theater and put his FEET up on the seat behind my date so that his shoe was between our heads, and he made really weird, sexual comments the entire film, which the guy I was there with thought was hilarious, and when it was time for me to have my dad pick me up, my date had the audacity to think I was going to kiss him. Like, absolutely not.
Your first date story is so wholesome, and first love's ending totally destroyed me. The christmas gift guy was clearly in love 😂😂😂 Hilarious video Emma!
"Are you okay?" "No Norbert, I just vomited." Omg Emma I want to give high school you a hug!!! If you have time for a ridiculous story, here's my bad date/vomit story to follow up yours: I had my first boyfriend in uni a few years ago. I thought he was so sweet and smart and cute and I was absolutely head over heels for him. Our breakup was tragic. I'm not usually a party person, but he took me out on halloween, my favorite day of the year, to a club with his friends and I was sooo excited. But the thing was that he, a guy who never really drank, got super drunk beforehand and vomited all over me just as we were going into the club. I told him to wait for me while I washed vomit off of my feet and my costume in the SINK of a public bathroom (it was so disgusting I cannot describe it), and when I got back out, costume ruined, sobbing, he'd ditched me and left with some of his friends already. I had to get home with some of his other friends who were still there. Since it was the middle of the night we had to wait HOURS for a train and I was wet, freezing, crying and still smelled like vomit. When I got home I had to explain all of this to my mom. The next day he broke up with me over text and when I walked right by him and his friend on campus a few days later, he acted like he didn't even see me. I was devastated. This happened on the weekend and I remember that Monday at school I cried all day, through all of my classes. I think I cried about it for months after, but a few days after it happened, I knew I was going to be okay because even though I was such a mess, I managed to pull an all nighter and wrote a 20 page research paper that was so good, my professor asked me to join his graduate program. So I guess if I had to recommend a book based off of this experience, I'd say Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets because I'm Fawkes the phoenix rising from the ashes baby hahaha. Dating can be so shitty but we can all get through it with courage and hope and good books
He was filled with boredom. The only upside to his day was staring at his window, decorated by the flying pig solar panel while he popped pez’s from a Darth Vader dispenser. Your life in dates is so writable.
Ahhhh, that theme-park one is scandalous!! What an absolute trooper you are for getting through that day 💪🏻 and I have absolutely no words for Norbert, that is shocking behaviour from him! Does not deserve to share a alias with Hagrid's first dragon
i really like how you always aim for originality with your videos and the way your ideas always just work out it's even better plus this one is probably one of the funniest videos I've seen in booktube ♥️
Omg I absolutely adore you Emma! No other person works as hard, and puts out such content. I apologize if this all sounds cheesy, but you never fail to make my day. ❤️
The library date story had my soul leaving my body. I was cleaning my room and I had just started brooming when you talked about the water bottle and the laptop and I screamed!!!! Thank you for sharing and reminding me to keep my liquids a healthy distance from my own computer.
For years now I've been a 'silent visitor' to your channel but now I just need to tell you how that was 40 minutes of THE BEST entertainment! Thanks so much for sharing, you're an amazing storyteller :D
this is the funniest video idea I've ever seen, omg I'm dying. thank you for coming up with the most interesting and creative ideas! you're videos are endlessly inspiring and these are also some really perfect recommendations. I think most of us have a funny and innocent first date experience from when we were much younger and we awkwardly watched a movie together and then never spoke again hahah nice to know this is a collective experience. Also dying at, "guys i didn't have a book with me".... that's the absolute WORST. I hate being caught outside of my house without a book.
A really bad date that I went on was with someone I was friends with from class. We were in fourth year but apparently he was kinda crushing on me since second year lol and he knew me bc we were in the same major so we had a lot of classes together. Anyway, this guy drunkenly admitted that he had a crush on me and i told him like oh thats really sweet but I am going through a really weird time in my life so im not really interested in dating anyone rn but i def care about you as a friend. and then a week later he asked me on a date and I said no because i already explained that going back into dating wasnt something I was ready for... and then a week later, in front of people we knew from class he said "when are you gonna let me take you out to dinner?" so i felt really put on the spot, super awkward so i said okay. that weekend he came to pick me up, gave me flowers (which was cute) and we went to dinner which was super awkward and I got overly full. then we went to the bookshop thats connected to the restaurant being the book nerd that I am (yes, i bought a book... The Convenience Store Woman...). after that, things were still really awkward and the conversation was not flowing well. And hes like lets go back to my place to hang and smoke shisha. I got really awkward and I'm like "cool ill let our friends know to meet us there!" and i dont even let him say anything, i'm already calling my best friend and telling her to meet us at his place in 10 mins. So messy. I told him i just wanted to be friends after that but he was really pushy and I eventually stopped talking to him bc the vibes were OFF
@@alexandraramz I'm really glad you stopped talking to him, the fact that he was so pushy about going on a date with you even though you said no so many times is a very bad sign already Hope your later dating experiences were much, MUCH better or at least that you'll have amazing future dates, keeping my fingers crossed!! 😊🤞🤞
My worst date: We meet at a bistro and sit outside. The food arrives. He has a salad and when he starts to dig in with knife and fork the plate topples over. The salad falls in his lap and on the ground. He picks it up, puts it back on the plate and eats it. His pants are drenched in salad dressing. He says: “I know that we want to go to a wine festival but my pants are wet. I don’t want to go back home to change clothes. Can we go to the movies instead? My pants will be dry when the movie is over and then we can go to the wine festival.” The movie is an experimental piece with a talking brain in a fish bowl who is having migraines and people drop pain meds in the water. The whole time my date is reeking of salad dressing really badly. After the movie we drive to the wine festival in his car. The salad dressing smell is filling up the air. We arrive at the town of the festival. I tell him: “You better park outside the town center because it’s packed there.” He disagrees, drives into town and we are stuck in a car jam for at least 2 hours, with salad dressing smell all around. I recommend Perfume by Patrick Süskind. It’s the story about a mass murderer who needs the smell of fresh blood to create perfumes.
Dude I freakin laughed at the period story and when you couldn’t tell which one was Frank playing Hockey 🤣🤣 and I know what it’s like being the 3rd wheel, so sorry you had to go through that with your bf 😭💔 I loved this vid 💖 can’t wait to hear your “best dates” stories!
Loved your stories! :) The PEZ-gift was so wholesome, as a guy I would have loved it. I still have a small PEZ collection somewhere. And you seem like a very sweet person btw. :)
That was hilarious! 😂And thank you for reminding that certain moments we find embarassing and awkward right now would seem so funny, and become fond memories years later, good or bad, all of which has taught us something. I loved listening to yours and will be so glad if you make more of these!❤️❤️
That was phenomenal, I want it to be a series, I want it to me a trend, everything 😂 +1 point if that Jebediah/Zebediah (?) was a reference to that Rachel Masky video where she reads her diary as a Jane Austen's novel omg Worst/funny date for me : a guy told me he was into historical fun facts, than proceeded to mansplain the Big Bang to me (literaly : "do you know the Big Bang?")
oh my god the tension in the water bottle story had me DYING an ad popped in the middle and never have I been more mad - your storytelling skills are so good and the book pairings are SOO funny and great recs too
You're a natural storyteller, and I hope you make more of these 'storytime' book recommendations. Thank you as always, it's been two hard weeks with everything that's happening now in Europe, and this video really made me laugh. Hugs!
We've all had our bad dates, but first I'd like to say how happy it makes me feel to see young people talking about literature. Wanting to impress my love interest I invited her to a Japanese restaurant. At that time there were only two in Rio de Janeiro, now there are hundreds. We go, we order, etc. My dish was "shrimp with sauce". I didn't know very much about Japanese cuisine then, now I know little more.A plate with shrimp arrives and there is a bowl next to it. So, I would pick up a shrimp with chop sticks, an ability I picked up in high school, and wet it in the bowl. No it was not a finger bowl. After eating a few shrimp I asked the waitress what the sauce was made of, and she replied that it actually was soup. first embarrassment. I knew that in Japan people drank soup holding the bowl and drink from it, so I did that. As I was lowering the bowl, it slipped from my fingers spilling soup on the table, my pants and her dress. Second embarrassment. This was not my worst date, but it was a funny one with a happy ending. I'm sure she took pity on me and figured I needed someone to take care of me. I few months later we got married and now after 50 years we are still taking care of each other. Congratulations on your TH-cam channel.
My very first date was a high school dance with a girl I did community theater with. To set the scene, the mistletoe dance is a big deal in our area, and she was super excited when I asked her and got a really beautiful dress for the occasion. So of course on the day of the dance I get sick. I don't say anything to her because it's a big occasion and I didn't want to ruin it, but all throughout the night I'm terrified that as we're dancing I'm going to throw up on her dress out of nowhere. I probably booked it to the bathroom at least 6 times within the span of 2 hours, leaving her with my classmates that were all older than her and that she hardly knew at all. Finally I tell her that I'm not feeling well and need to go home. She's really understanding about it and my dad picks us up an hour early and drops her off at her house. Looking back, it definitely wasn't as bad as it could have been, but I'll never forget the night after my first date just feeling miserably sick and guilty as hell.
My JAW on the FLOOR at the water bottle on his lap top. Oh my goodness. I am so sorry this happened, but thank you for sharing because I am cackling. What a fun and unique video! Would love to hear more stories
Omg that was absolutely hilarious!😂 you're a natural storyteller!! thanks once again for being there for us all, I think we can use the comfort of your videos now more than ever
honestly idk why but being rec'd books in this way makes me a lot more excited to read them like for some reason, even though ive seen some of these being talked of before, here in particular ive been like 'okay sold'
“And his mum is leaning over and she says ‘oh Frank is playing so much better than he usually does, he never tries this hard, I wonder why’, and I’m like ‘good for Frank, can I tell which one is Frank? No.”
This is perfect💕🌼 Your videos are just perfect to watch on a gloomy sunday while baking a cinnamon cake. Thank you for bringing positivity and sweetness into this world ☺️
I just love all your videos but this has to my very favorite. The library story was so sad but hilarious. And the bus vomit story! So glad you survived the lightening!
Oh, Emma. I’m much older than you are right now but your stories brought back so many memories of my own life dating as a teenager and in my 20’s. You’ll add so many more “wonderful” stories to your collection as the years go by. PS: First Love is a wonderful book 🖤
You're such an amazing (and hilarious) storyteller! This video felt like one of those tangential conversations you have with a friend over a coffee and I would love to see more like it 💖
This was so fun, Emma. Not only do you give great book synopses, but you can tell a great story. I was laughing out loud regarding the concert downpour debacle! And here's the thing about the Christmas gift embarrassment: That was his mom's doing. No guy that young would think to get a girl those gifts--or walk into a Victoria's Secret to get them!--let alone have the funds to buy them. Trust me, his mom was behind it all. (I have sons and daughters, and my sons needed a little more coaching on this aspect of relationships.) I'd love to hear about your best dates and book recs.
Awesome video! Thoroughly enjoyed it. The story that you said before introducing Great Expectations (that's one of my all-time fav btw) reminds me so much of me and my partner. I am a great gift giver. It's like one of my good qualities and my partner always panics whenever there's an occasion of exchanging gifts. One amazing thing about her is that she's very thrifty and industrious. So, her gifts reflect that quality about her. She always tries to give me something that she made herself with materials she gets at reasonable prices and I always give her the most expensive things possible, because I just feel that she deserves to be pampered that way every now and then due to being so down to earth. And I NEVER am able to express this dynamic to her! I can never make her understand that I appreciate whatever she gives me because it came from her and she put so much of her thoughts into it that it doesn't matter how much it costs.
I think the one pro to not having a dating life (I've never been on a date, I'm 22) is that I don't have any embarassing stories. But this was really entertaining and fun to listen to. Hope you're okay hahaha ;)
This has to be the funniest vlog I've watched. Ever. And it comes with good book recommendations ! Burst out laughing when you suggested Julius Caesar: a great play but the worst date possible. You have masterfully told your bad dates and skillfully linked them to great reads. Please, please do the same with the good ones.
Video starts. I can see Dante's Inferno in the background and I'm just waiting for all hell to break loose... And guess what! It did! BTW, loved this video, it was really entertaining (but I also felt for you) ♥️
We all know that surviving all those experiences including that assasin blood-spitting pad situation just made you stronger Emma. We all love you and support you and if we were sitting next to you in a bus, we'd notice you vomiting your guts out and we'd even hold that deadly bag for you, that's how much we love you girl.
This is a fun idea. Loved hearing your stories especially the one with Frank. It made me lol. I'm pretty sure I went out on a date once with a sociopath maybe a psychopath. I noticed all the red flags and cut that date super short. Never saw the guy again luckily.
I have so many bad date stories if you make the video recommending us books based on our bad dates. Potential stories include: getting in a car accident on my first date ever, my first prom when my date and I got lost and wandered around the city trying to find the building where the school dance was being held (in the rain, wearing HEELED sandals😅), and accidentally getting exposed to an almond on my 21st birthday and getting super sick before I could even enjoy an alcoholic beverage (I’m allergic).
i can't tell which is the best part of this video, the premise, your stories, or the apt book recs! edward sharpe and the magnetic zeroes are so fun live ~ thanks for sharing ~
I just want to tell you thank you for this fun video. I just handed in one annoying assignment and this just lighten my mood before I start studying for midterm tomorrow. I know all this situations were unfortunate for you but the way you said the stories was just fun. Love you ❤️❤️❤️
"The ponchos will not save us" is going straight on my list of phrases which shouldn't have been spoken but the universe somehow came together to make them happens ! thank you, this was a ride and quite a compelling way to connect books to experiences ^^
I literally feel so badddddd for you hearing that amusement park storyyyy:(((( i know you've definitely moved on but I just wish I could give you a hugg:(💘
As a computer lover and ex technician, the way you dropped “all over his laptop” and I’m immediately agape, aghast, astounded, that was a great (awful) reveal. New subscriber :) Love it (I have to know was the laptop a Mac)
Not exactly a date horror story but when I was 16 or 17 I lent my then-boyfriend the first book in the Mortal Engines series, which was one of my absolute favourite books at the time. I had a really nice matching set of the four books in the series which I'd re-read a few times but taken good care of because I loved the editions, the cover design etc. One day we were over at his house and I spotted the book on his bedside table. The spine was cracked, the pages were dog-eared and there were rips all around the edges of the cover. I was so devastated -- both for the state of the book and for the fact that he clearly didn't care about looking after something that belonged to someone else -- but I didn't know what to say, so I didn't mention it. He never gave me it back and I still haven't replaced it to this day. It still hurts, thinking of the moment when I caught sight of my poor, destroyed book.
This was such a unique and fun idea. I enjoyed it so much! I got emotional at times and laughed so much my eyes teared multiple times. As soon as you said "water" and "laptops" I know where that story was going. I was surprised his computer survived too, but I think they've made tech a little more liquid resistant in recent years. My dad's keyboard only shorted out after the second time he spilt coffee on it. I had a similar pad issue one time, though not as bad. I didn't have it, but I always have at least a liner on. I was at Disneyworld, and we went on the Kilimanjaro Rapids, which is a water rapids ride. The seats got absolutely soaked. I kind of thought just the top of you would just get wet, but no. It was the seats more than anything. Both my mom and I went to the bathroom soon after, (in our hotel rooms thankfully) and our pads just kind of dissolved and made a mess we had to clean off the bathroom floor. Cotton was literally everywhere. Thankfully they stood together until then, but we could tell something was very amiss with them beforehand. They can only take so much liquid. I never really knew about the crowd crush danger of overcrowding until there was that issue with that Travis Scott concert recently. There's a very real danger with there being too many people too close together in too small of a space. People were dropping in mass and going into cardiac arrest. These venues do know about this phenomenon, but sadly choose to ignore it. After that happened it came out that that venue had a history of ignoring crowd regulations. It's infuriating that you experienced that as well and that this clearly is a more widespread issue. They put money before public safety.
This was hilarious!! I really felt your pain with the Foo Fighters concert and the Rolling Stones one too! I also like you don't do well in the heat. Now I have to think back and see which books match which horrible dates I've had in the past! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔👀👀👀👀👀🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Great vid Emma! My other comment on this vid disappeared so I wrote again, If you see two comments from me that's why. Yep it's been that kind of day! Hugs! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow that really felt like a conversation with a long lost childhood friend about the mishap of dates we went on over the years. You are such a great storyteller Emma, you really put me through a rollercoaster from mortification to laughter. I think it would be great if you do more of those sit down and talk about random stuff kind of videos. You always have the greatest ideas anyway. On another note, during the only 'date' I went to, the guy told me all about his escapedes with former girlfriends and then when I opened up to him about my home life he said that he only dates those with daddy issues anyway. I dumped his sorry ass the next day although that really set the tone for my love life.
Don't feel bad that you were unable to pick out Frank from the rest of the team. Combining a male team sport with the low temperature of the rink results in the formation of a Bose-Einstein condensate, in which the players are indistinguishable. It doesn't make passing the puck easier. Rather, it makes passing the puck unnecessary.
Go out with me. I think that we live within a few hours of one another and it’ll give you a chance to choose a book that starts with hope and ends with profound disillusionment.
Emma describing her worst date experiences and right after that, suggesting a book with a plot/theme so similar to it is what I'm here for! 🙌🏻💖 This concept is funnnn!

The reason behind your book recommendation is absolutely on point 😂😂😂 haha loved it!!
that guy sounds like the actual worst omg
Totally better off without him
He was filled with boredom. The only upside to his day was staring at his window, decorated by the flying pig solar panel while he popped pez’s from a Darth Vader dispenser.
Your life in dates is so writable.
28:43 “I’m like a broken record that can’t stop playing” sounds like it belongs in All Too Well 10 min version
Ahhhh, that theme-park one is scandalous!! What an absolute trooper you are for getting through that day 💪🏻 and I have absolutely no words for Norbert, that is shocking behaviour from him! Does not deserve to share a alias with Hagrid's first dragon
i really like how you always aim for originality with your videos and the way your ideas always just work out it's even better plus this one is probably one of the funniest videos I've seen in booktube ♥️
thank you Camila! 💜
I definitely agree!!! ❤️
Omg I absolutely adore you Emma! No other person works as hard, and puts out such content. I apologize if this all sounds cheesy, but you never fail to make my day. ❤️
ah thank you so much Eliza, I appreciate that so much:') sending you all the love
The library date story had my soul leaving my body. I was cleaning my room and I had just started brooming when you talked about the water bottle and the laptop and I screamed!!!! Thank you for sharing and reminding me to keep my liquids a healthy distance from my own computer.
This needs to be a series, I was laughing out loud the entire time 😂
Me too. I'm still in tears. It is amazing.
For years now I've been a 'silent visitor' to your channel but now I just need to tell you how that was 40 minutes of THE BEST entertainment! Thanks so much for sharing, you're an amazing storyteller :D
oh, emma. this is the best thing i've seen all week. at least all the bad dates made you come up with this brilliant idea.
this is the funniest video idea I've ever seen, omg I'm dying. thank you for coming up with the most interesting and creative ideas! you're videos are endlessly inspiring and these are also some really perfect recommendations.
Also i absolutely adore your bandana, so cute
So messy. I told him i just wanted to be friends after that but he was really pushy and I eventually stopped talking to him bc the vibes were OFF
@@alexandraramz I'm really glad you stopped talking to him, the fact that he was so pushy about going on a date with you even though you said no so many times is a very bad sign already
Hope your later dating experiences were much, MUCH better or at least that you'll have amazing future dates, keeping my fingers crossed!! 😊🤞🤞
I am absolutely obsessed with this video and I need more in the future!!
The laptop story had me cackling 💀💀
Emma I'm laughing so hard at the gym please make more story time videos because this was hilarious!!! 😭
My worst date:
We meet at a bistro and sit outside.
My pants will be dry when the movie is over and then we can go to the wine festival.”
The movie is an experimental piece with a talking brain in a fish bowl who is having migraines and people drop pain meds in the water. The whole time my date is reeking of salad dressing really badly.
After the movie we drive to the wine festival in his car. The salad dressing smell is filling up the air.
We arrive at the town of the festival. I tell him: “You better park outside the town center because it’s packed there.”
He disagrees, drives into town and we are stuck in a car jam for at least 2 hours, with salad dressing smell all around.
I recommend Perfume by Patrick Süskind. It’s the story about a mass murderer who needs the smell of fresh blood to create perfumes.
every time i hear people talking about their date experience i'm glad that i've never been on a date in my 25 years of life 😂
The fact that you're real busy but still posting to update us, makes us love you more! Hats off to you Emmie. Xo ❤
Same! I was laughing so hard!
Loved your stories! :) The PEZ-gift was so wholesome, as a guy I would have loved it. I still have a small PEZ collection somewhere. And you seem like a very sweet person btw. :)
Aaaa I love thissss lol, your stories are so fun. Please do another one with the good dates you've been on, I'd love to hear those!!!
That was hilarious! 😂And thank you for reminding that certain moments we find embarassing and awkward right now would seem so funny, and become fond memories years later, good or bad, all of which has taught us something. I loved listening to yours and will be so glad if you make more of these!❤️❤️
Emma you're so so so funny, I love hearing you talk it's like watching a stand up set!
That was phenomenal, I want it to be a series, I want it to me a trend, everything 😂
+1 point if that Jebediah/Zebediah (?) was a reference to that Rachel Masky video where she reads her diary as a Jane Austen's novel omg
Worst/funny date for me : a guy told me he was into historical fun facts, than proceeded to mansplain the Big Bang to me (literaly : "do you know the Big Bang?")
oh my god the tension in the water bottle story had me DYING an ad popped in the middle and never have I been more mad - your storytelling skills are so good and the book pairings are SOO funny and great recs too
You're a natural storyteller, and I hope you make more of these 'storytime' book recommendations. Thank you as always, it's been two hard weeks with everything that's happening now in Europe, and this video really made me laugh. Hugs!
“This isn’t even a competitive team!” Hahahahaha, that’s such a Canadian comment. Sloppy passing. Hahahaha. That’s pure gold.
I never laughed so much at one of your videos as much as this one 🤣
Same i cant stop
The flying pig part was hilarious Emma... 😂😂😂
Yes that one got me 🤣🤣🤣
The guy with the gift exchange actually sounds like a keeper! 🤗😊
this was so entertaining and comforting to me , thank u so much for sharing ! 💌
This is my absolute favourite video of yours!!!!! The comedy of the lit choices as well as your fantastic storytelling - omg do I want more 😂
My very first date was a high school dance with a girl I did community theater with.
I avoided watching this at first cause I wasn't sure about this, but this is phenomenal. Comedy genius.
I loved this video Emma and I laughed a lot! Some of these stories are so wholesome
Emmie’s so consistent but still creative. I’m so exciting to watch this video! (love from a small TH-camr)
awe thank you so much!
Omg that was absolutely hilarious!😂 you're a natural storyteller!! thanks once again for being there for us all, I think we can use the comfort of your videos now more than ever
the second you picked up great expectations i got HYSTERICAL. thank you for all these recs and i hope you go on some amazing dates!!
honestly idk why but being rec'd books in this way makes me a lot more excited to read them like for some reason, even though ive seen some of these being talked of before, here in particular ive been like 'okay sold'
This video felt like one of those tangential conversations you have with a friend over a coffee and I would love to see more like it 💖
im from québec city and as soon as you mentioned the foo fighters i remembered that summer and everyone talking about the weather hahaha
(I have sons and daughters, and my sons needed a little more coaching on this aspect of relationships.) I'd love to hear about your best dates and book recs.
such a nice video idea! feels like a chat with a friend :,) and makes me feel less bad for not dating in high school
This video is purely perfection. I have no words.
A flying pig and a Star Wars pez holder 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Girl, the guys were way more into you than you were into them!!!!
This is an amazing video idea!! The laptop story had me half crying, I felt your pain 😭
Emma what if they did wanted to go on a date with each other... 🤔 but it wasn't "appropriate" to go without a girl, so they asked u two out
I think the one pro to not having a dating life (I've never been on a date, I'm 22) is that I don't have any embarassing stories. But this was really entertaining and fun to listen to. Hope you're okay hahaha ;)
I've laughed so much at your descriptions of these situations that I don't need to do my abs workout anymore 😎😎
It did! BTW, loved this video, it was really entertaining (but I also felt for you) ♥️
The birthday that i got Caesar-ed is one of the best lines I’ve ever heard 😂
that "LIBRARY DATE" guy is soo sweet, I really liked that story emma!! love from India!
The Dowry Of Blood recommendation was extremely apt for the situation described lol
Never saw the guy again luckily.
as someone with zero dating experience, this video is so precious to me. bless you for living through them and for staying sane to share them to us 😂
I have so many bad date stories if you make the video recommending us books based on our bad dates.
Omg noooo the Christmas present date 😭😭😭😭 I felt the cringe, thoughts and prayers to you
i can't tell which is the best part of this video, the premise, your stories, or the apt book recs! edward sharpe and the magnetic zeroes are so fun live ~ thanks for sharing ~
I just want to tell you thank you for this fun video. I just handed in one annoying assignment and this just lighten my mood before I start studying for midterm tomorrow.
I know all this situations were unfortunate for you but the way you said the stories was just fun. Love you ❤️❤️❤️
This is such a fun idea 😅❤️
it was so much fun thinking out this idea haha
This video is ICONIC. Thanks for bringing this gold to booktube. Needs to be a new trend/tag 😂
The Christmas present story was hilarious
Loved this one!! The second to last story had me in tears laughing - periods always make things more interesting lol - hope you do a part 2!
i come back to this video every few books because it’s just become my comfort video and your way of talking is so relaxing and calming, thank you
Not exactly a date horror story but when I was 16 or 17 I lent my then-boyfriend the first book in the Mortal Engines series, which was one of my absolute favourite books at the time.
I couldn't help myself but smile when you said you finally got to go see the concert you wanted and had a blast there
When at first The Rolling Stones significance wasn’t mentioned, I was fully prepared for him blasting “Let It Bleed”.
the storytelling [chef's kiss]
EMMA, we needed this. I haven't laughed that hard in so long.
Hugs! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
just so you know, its 10pm here and i couldnt help but laugh for 5 min straight because of your call of duty story 😭🤣 your storytelling is immaculate!
You are a fantastic narrator, I really enjoyed listening to this. Thank you so much for going through all this
and being so brave.
Emma describing her worst date experiences and right after that, suggesting a book with a plot/theme so similar to it is what I'm here for! 🙌🏻💖 This concept is funnnn!
