Nintendo and the Pokemon Company International have done an okay job over the past few years of releasing information pertinent to the amount of Pokemon Cards in existence. While they have provided us with print numbers of Pokemon Cards, they have failed to provide us with information pertaining to what makes a Pokemon Card? Are Energy Cards or Code Cards included in their print totals? While Pokemon Card Collectors can only speculate how many Pokemon Cards are in existence, we can provide some information for ourselves when it comes to Pokemon Card Pull Rate numbers.
Unfortunately, the only way to gather Pokemon Pull Rates is to open up a bunch of packs to determine how each rarity unfolds as far as the probability of pulling said rarity. Since we can go so far to assume that Pokemon prints each rarity equally, this will give us an accurate understanding of how hard it is to pull an individual card from each rarity.
Sadly, this information can only take us so far. Print numbers and print runs would provide us with additional information on how many of a specific card are in existence, but since those numbers are kept hidden, the best thing we can do to determine how rare a Pokemon Card is, is by utilizing pull rate numbers. In this video, we break down Pokemon Card Pull rates for the Trainer Gallery subsets to determine the probability of pulling a specific and Unique Trainer Gallery Pokemon Cards. Are these harder to pull than Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares in the Scarlet and Violet Gen? Let's find out!

My conspiracy theory is that in most sets, the first print run will have the best pull rates of rarer cards because TPC knows people gather pull rate data in the beginning. Then for subsequent print runs, the probability of getting rarer cards decreases.
Anecdotally, this has been my experience as well.
This is exactly what I've noticed as well. The first run of booster boxes are stacked.
As others have said, all anecdotal...but I couldn't agree more. I've had this experience with several sets. Also, since Pokemon doesn't release any print data other than total number of cards printed, it'd be the ultimate marketing ploy to front load the sets with better pulls and sprinkle in less after of the chase cards. And the best part is on their end. There's no way to prove it because of no numbers of individual cards print run provided.
I don't understand the why though. I can't imagine it costs them much more to print the rarer cards, so why would they alter established pull rates? I don't see a benefit for them.
@JosephTramm because it's not about the cost of the printing. It's the money they make off of people chasing certain pulls. So if you hype up certain cards at the release of a set and provide decent pull rates, people will naturally buy and rip more packs because it becomes "oh I get a hit every 3 packs, so even if I didn't get my chase card, I'll buy 30 more to give myself better chances if it's 1:3" but if they reduce the pull rate to 1:6 ect, people can't prove it and will either get labeled tin hat conspiracy theorists, or just chalk it up to bad luck...because as several have stated. Without official data, it's anecdotal. Just my .02. Sorry for the long reply

You should calculate the pull rate for a specific baby shiny from Paldean Fates
I think apart of the reason behind making pulling cards harder is to simply sell more product, because once people complete a set they usually stop even with TH-camrs. But Evolving Skies has no shortage of people wanting to open due to tough pull rates and high card prices. If you can complete an obsidian flames set in three booster boxes that’s all the money they will make off that customer

pull rates are very interesting when you consider them with what cards are being bought and sold for. often times cards get hyped up for no reason and stay high just because the card is hyped up; self fulfilling prophecy like the moonbreon.

This is the data we are here for! Just shows my gut feeling about Trainer Galleries previously being undervalued was correct (obviously now those prices have caught up though).
The last three boxes I’ve bought for “fun” were anything but fun. I work hard to make the money required to buy and they are selling what I would describe as pain. I just started with OF and I am now no longer a “customer”. No where else in life is it acceptable to sell a product that doesn’t deliver.

I feel like every box should have at least one "chase" card for SV. Early SV was awesome to open and my kids had so much fun. Bought multiple boxes per set. Last 2 sets I've only bought an ETB because it's so hard to get an SAR. Love the AR cards but getting 3 per box isn't worth cost of box. Singles are king with current pull rates

I got lucky with silver tempest because I was able to find those god packs at my local Walmart. Helped me get quite a few major cards from the set.
Danny I truly believe we are all like this to an extent. I go over things so many times just to end up with the same out come you just need to trust yourself a little more on what you know what you know
this data is great. My kids got into pokemon cards around Brilliant Stars so maybe I'm a bit biased but I think the post Trainer Gallery sets are way better than the earlier sets (including the overhyped Evolving Skies).

I wear Ultraboosts and tuck my laces instead of tying them haha. Sorry, I might’ve missed it, but with the first slide about how rare certain rarities are in each set, could you also cover your math on how you arrived on that number? Because if you pull over half of the IRs in PE looking for Magikarp, wouldn’t it be more likely that you pull one of the IRs that you have already pulled from that point onward? Of course that’s based on if everything in each rarity is printed to the same quantity. Thanks for the info either way Danny! Could it be interesting to look at single prices vs pack cost for specific cards? Eg. PE Magikarp TCG player price vs pack price multiplied by pull rate? Could be interesting to see for something like Moonbreon with how pricey the card is, but also how hard it is to pull as well. Like I know it’s normally better to just buy singles, especially given print quality issues and the cost difference, but just how big is that gap in price?

I went SO hard on Brilliant Stars, and only ever pulled the basic charizard v 3 times. Then about a month ago I bought a few sleeved packs and pulled the full art. Two years to pull another type of charizard lol.

This pretty much imo shows that there is a bubble for IR’s I understand supply and demand but hype will fade and move onto something else and cards will most likely fall there are always outliers but this should hold true. I guess we’ll see though :)

So glad I completed all the trainer galleries when it was cheap. OCD for the win! Just wish I did it for the GG but it just has so many cards and I didn't want to pay for the gold Tina or Arceus which I never pulled myself.

I absolutely luv the Sword and Shield alt arts. My favorite Gengar, Blaziken,Machamp. I sold them all last year when there was a spike in the market. I would like to have at least the Gengar back but it’s crazy $$.
I bought my Moonbreon for $250 and sold it for $480 but again, prices are crazy now! I don’t understand how Moonbreon, Giratina, Gengar etc. can be so expensive when there are SOOO many printed??

Pull rates wise I like 151 for nostalgia reason but if it comes to rarity that set is okay. I'll give Paldea Evolved a try next from S&V. Other sets are just a no go for me. Gives me more time to move from SV151, have PE as in between before Team Rocket is back. I like some karp hunting. Chance are slim I'll pull any but is seems a good pull set.
Also I've managed to pull the Umbreon TG22 out of two check out lane blisters. Bought for 5 a piece on clearance. So a 30 usd raw copy for only 10. Seems I got lucky not to open 140 packs
