Starting a business while you’re 24 and have two children is extremely challenging. I basically have no time to focus on the business and create growth. However I still push and have been selling singles on tcgplayer and making content related to Pokemon cards, eventually I plan to rip and ship as my next step in order to start building up some money and actually place some orders I can profit from
You’re better off than you think. Your youth is on your side. Every little bit helps. Keep going, you’ll get the snowball effect with your combined, consistent efforts.
Anecdotal, but i thought I'd share. I was 24 once. With 2 little ones to boot! Started a business and cleared 6 figures in an unrelated market for years. This was around '14-'17. It's doable and its done ALL THE TIME, and if my 2 cents is anything. Stay the course.
Fascinating. I am trying to wrap my brain around needing to transfer $100k each week just to move products. You live an interesting life, my friend. Thank you for sharing your experiences. It is helpful. Even if I am in a different industry, I can still relate to making costly mistakes and needing to learn from them.
Good stuff as always. You're single-handedly instilling the confidence to just start the business for hundreds of people who've been thinking about it for a year or more.
Very informative! Watching these while sorting out bulk and going to take selling it a lot more seriously now, so this contents been extremely helpful! Going to keep at it and we'll see where this goes in the future
Thankfully the boxes came down in the meantime. Makes this side of it a lot easier. Mistakes will happen and what matters most is the response to the mistakes. Nice to hear them broken down and reflected on instead of buried or ignored for sure.
Decided to subscribe today. I honestly didn't connect with the channel in the beginning but I always valued your thoughts on the various market situations. It seems like you've found a better connection with the audience in the past few weeks; maybe since the Japanese 151 preorder stuff? Anyway, I appreciate what I've learned from you over the months and I hope to put these tips into action myself one day.
Great video Brian! As someone who’s been following you since the ghetto website days, it’s amazing seeing how much you’ve grown as a person, as you’ve grown this business (and your biceps 👀) Much respect brother 💪
Not being liquid has bitten us in the ass already, so definitely a lesson learned and seems to be common early on lol. Thank you for sharing your other lessons!
I usually only buy from Amazon because I'm international. But I found your site through TH-cam and took the plunge. I figured I'd get my order and so said so done. Dealing with low reputation sellers online is scary as well, worse as a foreigner because I dont have much recourse if something goes wrong.
@@pokene_pokemon cool thanks! I remember when you first started making vids on the subject but you put out so much good content since that it got lost in the weeds for me and knew I likely missed it. Looking forward to it!
Awesome tips man ! Love your content. What percentage of your business would you recommend to keep liquid? I’m a very new tcgplayer seller and content creator (instagram mainly) but I would like to buy and hold sealed product too.
I don’t really measure on percentage at this point because of how large my inventory is and how much it transfers year to year. I think $1000 at any given time is plenty in the beginning stages
I realized I was stupid for thinking I could run 2 businesses at the same time - especially now that I have my first kid on the way. I’ll try and make up for it with more good, generalized content
Hey man, first of all I want to say congratulations on the news that you are going to be a "girl-daddy", extremely happy for you. Secondly, your content is liquid gold. Thankful that you are spreading your business wisdom with everyone! Amazing tips. Thirdly, Have you ever been to a collect-a-con before?
Can you explain how you actually make money with a distributor that forces junk product on you? In your example you had to buy 5k of junk just to get more of brilliant stars.. does your profit margin change that much on popular products? Just to “break even” on that set you’d have to sell 50k on a 10% profit or 25k for 20% profit. Are you really selling 100k+ of sets that come out? Margins just seem so low on these cards to be forced to sit on stuff that won’t sell
In the early days, my goal was to simply break even. You only “should” take those bundles to build your account up… once you start spending some good $$$ with a distro, they stop with the BS and only give you stuff you’ll profit on. It’s a long game
NGL...the fact that you have millions in pokemon in your basement, for the world to see and made yourself and easy target with that car wrap....dont care how many cameras you have man. You're a brave soul. I would have all of my inventory offsite completely secure. That's like having cash in your basement.
I see you’ve watched other videos, which tells me you’re not new to the channel. So imma guess you don’t understand what gross revenue is. It’s okay, you’ll get there one day
not saying hes not making good money but really a 7 figure business could really mean u only make about 50k a year XD in profit (hes prob making lot more than that but u get the point)

Admitting mistakes and losses takes a lot. Good job, as always, with transparency.
I try! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Yea it’s a scary industry as far as trust goes/ tons of fraud
@@pokene_pokemondo you sell to Australia? It’s so hard to get 151 English in Australia, without being extorted.
PokeNE do you help connect brands with wholesalers or do you wholesale to others yourself? If not you should.💪🙏
I saw you on VICE, didn't know you had a channel. But i will take a look on your videos.
im starting a buisness as we speak through shopify so whats the best route for me?
Thanks for the tips
You bet!
I’m averaging 2 Pokémon cards sold a day I’m happy just keep grinding!
Keep it up 🔥🔥🔥
You would not use ACH trasnfer via Wise? I use it and there's no transfer fee since it's not a wire.
I used to do that but for some reason my goofy ass local Nebraska bank doesn’t connect with ach - it’s a small biz- really annoying
I think even with your mistakes you've done a very good job mitigating them.
Hey i appreciate that 🙏🏻
Great insights! Btw, has he ever covered how to get a Japanese distributor?
Made a few videos on the topic in the playlist- need to make a more indepth one next week

Does wise offer buyer protections? have you been scamming before via wise and got your money back?
NOPE it’s allll on you
Don’t change it, but your personality… it’s great.
Haha glad someone thinks so 😂
