JLight2r1 Imagine if the Infinity was as accurate as the ISD. The crew is certainly better trained so the Infinity should have hit more shots. We never got to see the Infinity use the dual macs. The Infinity has an entire carrier group, hundreds of fighters, bombers, and gunships. The ISD has around 20 or so ties.

Considering that the UNSC's shields stop both solid mass rounds as well as energy attacks at once, while Star Wars shields stop on one of them at a time based on which shields are active, I would have to say UNSC would win in the end of a long slugging patch.

Most new UNSC ships have 2 of the MACs mounted in this video on the Infinity while the Infinity has 8 even bigger ones, 4 on the front and 2 on each side, plus carrying a few cruisers with a single light MAC.
Considering the state of the galaxy by the end of Halo 5, I wouldn't be surprised if it was seen in an antagonistic role.
A ISD is 1.6 km. The Infinity is 5.5 km.
The Infinity main weapon are 4 super Macs that would realistically vapourize entire continents in one shot while the ISD ones are 4× 4 barreled heavy turbolaser turrets with each gun having the firepower to level a small city.
You can clearly see the difference in firepower.
And even if you take all secondaries in consideration the Infinity carries more ships with more Macs and so on.
It would probably stand up even to an SSD.

You don't science or math much, do you? Here's a hint: SMACS ONLY go a bit beyond 50 gigatons of tnt equivalent in kinetic energy. The asteroid that killed the dinosaurs? Yeah, that was 100 teratons of tnt equivalent... and last I checked, while that was nearly enough to life-wipe us... we're still here. The continents... are all... still... here.
Man, the most the continental landmass of the planet at that time would have done in the collision with that meteor is MELT. Not vaporize, which is actually very specific term that means the continents LITERALLY TURNED INTO GAS because of the energy levels assuming you're using that term properly and not just as an adjective without substance.
I'm not even denying that a Disney cannon ISD could beat the Infinity, I'm just denying your attempts to drum up the Infinity and SMACs as more than they really are.
P.S. Though I will also deny that a Legends/ICS calc Star Destroyer loses to Infinity because even if its MACs were high end SMAC levels measured beyond 50 gigatons of kinetic energy... that wouldn't match ONE of the quad-turbo laser bolts on an ACCLAMATOR, let alone an ISD.
For the record, in legends and the ICS, a single shot from an acclamator is measured in 200 gigatons.

Well Firepower would probably to the Infinity. There would be the Problem of Shields, as it was stated that atleast covanant shielding sucks against energy weapons. It is not unlikely that Infinitys shield would have similar problems, as both Infinitys shield as well as covanant were based upon Forerunner Shieldings. And Star Wars universe Weapons primarily are Energy Weapons (Plasma or Laser, depending who you ask(in think they would be plasma))
P.S Reason why I dont deem Star Wars weapons as powerful as stated in some sources, is that you simply can´t see that firepower in the Movies. While Halos MAC are shown to be strong.
The Infinity has two Mac cannons on each end. They are Much more powerful than the Orbital Mac's used in Halo 2. Infinity also has ten mini Mac's scattered around her hull to deal with anything the main guns can't. she's also armed with nearly 29,000 missiles of various types, many havok nukes, hundreds of deck/ AA guns, the equivalent to three Tie fighter wings worth of shielded Broadsword and Longsword fighters, ten Strident class frigates with shields and their own Mac's, and finally Infinity always has a large number of Spartans on board. Even just one spartan can change the course of a battle.
I really like star destroyers. But just one wouldnt stand a chance against Infinity.

Actually the UNSC Infinity has 4 super mag guns. It also has Forerunner technology built into its engines as well as Covenant shielding and Spartan boarding party's. So there's multiple ways that this can turn out.

If this battle had all the weapons both ships have in cannon, the infinity would win without a doubt.
Granted that wouldn't be particularly surprising if the weapons in each universe are approximately equal in power. The infinity is canonically 3.5x the size of a star destroyer (5600 m compared to 1600 m). Something more balanced would be a Bellator Star Dreadnought against the Infinity (7500 m against 5600 m). Any larger Star Wars ships like the Executor or Eclipse would probably just wreck the Infinity.

Thing about this space engineers battle is that the ISD either does not have enough power in the build, or the shield did not have time to charge up, the infinity never even had shields go to yellow

I made a post on r/whowouldwin that basically confirmed that. I didn't know nearly enough about the Imperial Navy to know just how hopelessly outgunned they were by the Ecumene, but it also made me realize that 40k's prowess would really be in ground combat. Space isn't really the universe's forté.

Freaking SD.net, I hate that site so damn much. It's user base can't handle the truth so they make up this insane fiction to boost their own egos. They will manipulate equations to boost their power to insane levels (such as claiming that certain asteroids are about an order of magnitude larger than they actually are and claim solid iron instead of common rock), manipulate equations about other fandoms to nerf them to a frankly insane degree, and will deny canon events if they don't support their point of view.
That, and they're insanely toxic having gone after people in the real world before. I remember their height when they were mailing death threats and organizing campaigns to get a debater's degree revoked because they didn't like that he argued against them.
I wouldn't say _Infinity_ could level a continent though, last time I checked her strength feats didn't indicate that level of firepower. Destroy a large island down to the seafloor though, that much I know she can do with her MACs. Honestly, the ISD should have been completely gutted after the first shot.

I think that if we are talking canon for both halo and SW. the UNSC would dominate the empire at range, but if the empire could get into brawling distance they would win since most UNSC ships aren’t shielded like the infinity.

Now that I think about it, unless the empire has ray shields on their SD’s their reflector shields are useless against physical threats. So there’s a good chance that even in clear combat they’ll be torn to shreds by UNSC archer missile pods.

The boarding party has 10 minutes to destroy all the reactors. After the 10 minutes the defenders win if one or more of the reactors are in tact

I just had an idea-
What if you have a ship with separate control panels, each controlling a different aspect of the ship, with the captain in charge of coordinating everyone.
One person will be able to use the cameras to see what’s going on, another person will be in charge of maneuvering, another person controls the weapons systems, etc.
Everyone would have to work together to control the ship, pretty much like Star Trek actually.

Richard Sank MAC rounds in Canon have the possibility of moving so fast the shields can't engage in time to block it, so it still may wreck the deflection shields.

The ISD has seperat shields for both energy/plasma and projectiles/solids. The shields for solids is said to be strong enough to withstand multiple nukes from earth without putting dent into shields. Now I don't know anything about the Halo universe, so I don't know how MAC rounds compare. This is also a game where things like that don't matter at all.
Xx 604Gamer xX actually the projectile shield of an ISD is weak as hell, mainly used for stopping debris or asteroids from impacting the ship. A MAC round from the Infinity would tear and ship from SW in half with ease. And Infinity has 4 or 5 Super MACs

I've had this discussion many times. If all things are reasonable, the Infinity wins every time. If we go with some Star Wars Legends sources, Turbo Lasers are W.M.D.'s. Some Star Wars sources put the output of a turbo laser at something that would disintegrate nearly *any* unshielded ship. And then, by inference, that would mean that shields in Star Wars are stupidly powerful even on something as small as an X-Wing. Like, to put this in perspective, each turbo laser shot is, supposedly (and ridiculously), basically the equivalent to a nuclear bomb going off, and then, by inference, Star Wars shields are able to take multiple hits from weapons that are as powerful as a nuclear bomb.
So, again, if all things are reasonable, and Star Destroyers don't make the Death Star seem irrelevant for being able to destroy a planet, then the armament on the Infinity is tactically far more advantageous, with its massive volleys of guided missiles, its quad super MAC battery (these are actually more powerful than the super MACs on orbital platforms, as the platforms were not able to pierce the Mantle's Approach's shields, but the Infinity was able to not only pierce the shields, but punch a hole for the Chief to insert into the ship (source: Halo 4)), not to mention its compliment of 10 Strident or Anlace class frigates. (Anlace class forgo the usual ship-length MAC and missile barrage for a smaller MAC and a fully directed energy weapons payload.) On top of that the Infinity has *hundreds* (830) of auto cannon emplacements to keep even a fleet's worth of fighters at bay.
Simply put, if we assume that the shielding on these ships is the same, or the same relative to their size, then the Star Destroyer's complement of 80 TIE fighters and other assorted support craft wouldn't stand a chance against the Infinity's defense grid, and the Star Destroyer itself would be gutted by four super MAC rounds before it was even in turbo laser firing range.
Starwars fans argue that a turbolaser has a 200 megaton yield, which is just goofy. I'd be able to believe it having 1-2 megaton yield because it has been stated throughout the lore that a ISD's turbolaser can destroy a small city with a single shot, and in the comics, a handful of ISD's can glass a planet in about an hour or so, this DOES happen, but starwars still uses short range for their ship to ship battles, the Infinity out ranges an ISD, and a projectile weighing hundreds of tons, traveling at any percent the speed of light (4% for the SMAC's) is going to crush anything it touches.

It's goofy to think that Star Wars ships can survive megaton-level blasts with localized hull damage but it's not goofy to think that a Forerunner ship can survive a 50-GIGATON kinetic impact with no damage whatsoever? Talk about a double standard.
Let's face it: if you think about it from a realistic point of view, both universes are pretty damned goofy. Halo is definitely more goofy, because using kinetic weapons in space is absolutely retarded. A laser has far greater range, travels faster, and imparts almost no reaction force on the firing ship, unless the laser is ungodly powerful. (A 2.6-TERATON laser beam has the same momentum of a single super-MAC round.)
@Alkln ♪ I never said that Halo isn't grounded in science. I understand that missiles and railguns are real technologies that exist today. The trouble lies in using those technologies in space, with *insane* energy levels. The MAC cannon, for example, would seriously disrupt the motion of the ship firing it. In the absence of inertial dampening fields or counter-thrust, firing a super-MAC would kill every living thing on the ship or station that fired it (and might even rip the craft apart). I have no problem with railguns in science fiction, just don't say that a railgun with a 50-gigaton kinetic energy yield is a reasonable scientific possibility. It's not, and it shouldn't be. Same goes for the NOVA bomb: it's based on real technologies (fission bombs acting as a trigger for a more powerful fusion device), but blown impossibly out of proportion.
If we're being honest, we don't know for sure what space battles will look like, if they ever exist at all, because we are centuries away from the technology that would allow easy interplanetary travel. By the time we have that technology, every one of us will be long dead and laser technology may have advanced to the point where it could dominate the space battlefield, or perhaps some other kind of directed-energy weapon (which is a major field of military research right now, and has been for a long time).
Sure, Star Wars stretches credibility with technologies that are most likely impossible. But Halo also stretches credibility with technologies that *are* based on real science but are a million times more powerful than they will ever be. Neither one makes for a "realistic" sci-fi franchise, they're both just straight-up fiction.
In cannon, the Infinity is around for times as long as an ISD, so it has an even higher chance of winning.
But that’s not to say that it’s undefeatable, if a fleet caught the Infinity by itself it might go down. However, as the Infinity can carry 10 Strident-class heavy frigates which would even the odds tremendously.
And if the Infinity had an escort fleet (besides the Strident’s) with it, it would decimate the Imperials unless they had a huge number advantage. Even then, the UNSC has spinal MAC cannons which have a virtually Infinite range in space (until they collide with something) which means that until the Empire got close enough, the UNSC could keep picking off Imperial ships.
Another thing to note is the Infinity’s shielding. Given that it is Forerunner based, it would probably take a super-star destroyer, or the Death Star to take them down without suffering large amounts of damage first.
All in all, I think the UNSC would win in most engagements with the Empire.

And the ISD has got deflector shields, that counter energy strikes and fast mobing objects. And the ISD would deploy a cloud of fighters.
the UNSC infinity has 150 broad sword interceptors, as well as forerunner shield tech, it has plenty of shielding, also, the UNSC infinity has 10 UNSC frigates, which have a fighter compliment of their own (correct me if i'm wrong, but I think its 60 or so)
And dont forget deflector cant stop 4 macs that are going the speed of light that impact so fast it leave the ship shaking and the troopers are trying to hold on for there life unsc win even if its 20 isd with 1000s of fighters the unsc has flank cannon that going to hit them and nuke and missle

UNSC weapons from Halo are relatively weak besides MACs, a MAC round can utterly devastate a SD. But the Covenant, the aliens of the Halo universe are fucking baller. They literally could’ve won the entire Human vs. Covenant war if they weren’t cocky, they were so superior in naval capabilities it was just sad. But no, they had to go and do ground assaults and look for important ancient artifacts then get fucking blown up by a green dude because they thought they were safe and could kill everyone. Though, yes Star Wars galaxy has like a Super Weapon around every corner, the Covenants largest vessel a CSO literally is like half the size of the Death Star. You might say “pfft who cares” well they have like, five CSOs, now what the fuck you gonna do. Then those CSOs have super heavy infernus class plasma lances, I think like three on each. Those lances can literally slice through anything.
Realistically the Infinity in lore has 4x Series 8 Super MACs and carries 10 smaller frigatez or destroyers inside . So a Star Destroyer has less than a chance of a snowball in hell against the Infinity.

Infinity would win. As much as I like the Spirit of Fire, it's not a frontline combat vessel, and its tech is extremely outdated compared to the Infinity.
@@thegrouchization yeah the Sprit of Fire wasn't even a warship and was retrofitted later to be military. The infinity is a state-of-the-art flagship, with the most advanced tech owned by the UNSC.

The Dragon Master in canon the Infinity has a forerunner shield system, practically the strongest in either franchise. And its build to stop energy (and hard light) weapons. If anything they made the shield too weak.

The infinity would win IRL due to the amount of armor and the amount of weapons, especially the amount of nukes it holds, so after the MAC takes the shield of a destroyer a single nuke would cause catastrophic damage, similar to 10 pounds of C4 VS an ant
My thoughts (please know that I am not a expert of halo lore and unfamiliar with star wars beyond the surface level an outsider to the franchise would know):
The UNSC has fought the Covenant for about 40 years, so their shields would be well optimized against plasma, however to my knowledge ballistic projectiles have widely phased out in the star wars so the Empire would be less prepared to face the UNSC's arsenal of kinetic weapons
The infinity has like 10 heavy cruisers in reserve, each with a MAC so basically the Infinity could deploy a full fleet, so using cannon stats the infinity would honestly be more comparable to the executor instead of a normal II-class imperial star destroyer

The Infinity, MAC canons have range whereas it's been shown that turbo lasers have a maximum effective range against shielded ships. That's why fighters and broadsiding are used so much in SW.
UNSC didn’t have shield Tech, that’s why the covenant was able to shred through their fleets. The MAC cannons were the only defensive capabilities, and yet it would take a very precise shot to disable a corvette.
We must see more of the Infinity, it's just too awesome not to, plus I tried spawning it in on my pc and I was averaging 4fps :/

Even though am a big halo fan, I thought the star destroyer was going to win, but was pleasantly surprised when the UNSC Infinity one shot-ed the Star destroyer’s Shields, and when the Infinity was tanking it’s shots like they were nothing.
I think the outcome of the battle would depend on the range of the engagement.
At long range, the kind of projectile makes a huge difference to its effectiveness. A large kinetic weapon like a MAC projectile has effectively infinite range in the vacuum of space, limited only by the targeting capabilities of the vessel, its proximity to a planet or other large gravity well, and the time it takes for the projectile to reach its target - time which may allow a vessel to move out of the way. Light-based weaponry, like the ISD's Turbolasers, becomes exponentially weaker as distance increases, making them basically useless at long range but more and more devastating the closer you get (according to the inverse-square law, halving your range would quadruple your firepower) - however the "projectiles" would travel at basically the speed of light and would be relatively unaffected by gravity and orbital mechanics.
A large, slow-moving target like an ISD would be a sitting duck against MAC weaponry that could probably accurately target an object of that size from more than 100km away. The ISD's light-based weaponry would be useless at that range. Add to that the fact that an ISD's shields are optimized for defence against other energy-based weaponry and offer little protection against kinetic projectiles (for evidence of this, check out that scene in Empire Strikes Back when a fleet of ISDs pursues the Millennium Falcon into the asteroid field; the bridge of an ISD is destroyed by a single asteroid), and single MAC uranium projectile with tremendous kinetic yield would punch right through them without any problem. Depending on the Infinity's MAC targeting systems, and how long it takes for the MAC to reload, it could probably take out a whole fleet of ISDs before they ever got into range.
In a close-range engagement, however, I think the ISD would have the edge owing to its greater maneuvreability, superior short-range weaponry, superior power-generation capabilities, and larger starfighter complement. Gattling guns, with their smaller, less energetic projectiles compared to the MAC, would have a harder time punching through the ISD's shields. The gattling guns also have finite ammunition. After a long enough time, their ammo stores would deplete. The ISD, with its superior reactor, could recharge its sheilds and weapons for an extremely long time and outlast the Infinity, provided it could utilize its maneauvreability to stay out of the firing line of the MACs - or send out a few squads of TIE bombers to disable them.
TL:DR; Long range, Infinity wins. Short range, ISD wins.

The infinity, with the supermac gun to break the Star Destroyer's shield in 1 hit and have the fighter/bombers as well as other weapons to take out key components.
The UNSC infinity would win in the real lore, because its mac cannons far outrange the ISD and can easily just snipe it, I mean just look at what it did to that super massive Forerunner ship in halo 4.

All later edition UNSC ships were meant to fight more advanced ships then their own. And at the same time the armor type of UNSC ships were built to counter heated plasma. So of course it can handle lasers. Star wars ships were built to disturbed the force of the lasers. Not made for penetration projectiles

That ship had no damage done to it when it came back to our fleet not even the shields we're damaged. On the way to a Covenant fleet they heard about this battle and surrendered.
Infinity would win. It could outrange the Star Destroyer.
I believe the Imperial Star Destroyer actually averaged 1.6 kilometers, not 2.5. The infinity also sported a massive array of guns and such along its sides, so while the builds are amazing they aren’t too scale or accurate. It was a fun battle however and I do believe if the Infinity held back most of its weaponry, this is how it would probably go. Overall, good job!
The 4 super MAC guns, which each can take down the highest class covenant ship, also can fire at a rate of 12 rounds/min or all together 1 shot every 1.5ish seconds

I know a lot about star wars and not a lot about Halo but I think the infinity would win, because Mac cannons. Not to mention star wars shields are ment to stop energy based wepons like turbolasers, so a kinetic wepons like the Unsc wepons in halo would punch holes in the ISD armor.
