Great video Karl. I'm heading that way with the family in August. Your drone footage is excellent. Can't wait for the next vid. Time to hit the high country.
Beautiful drone footage . . . right in my backyard (Ridgway resident). Hopefully, you have some photos from past years of Crystal Lake, which has been drained in 2024 because of a crack in the dam. I know you have hiked Porphyry basin around Red Mountain pass. You might also consider hiking Spirit Gulch and Hayden (the trailhead for the latter is at Crystal Lake). A couple of other interesting hikes are Albany and Richmond. Great picture of the Crystal Lake moose . . . I don't see him/her often at all. You could probably make a trip (if you haven't already) by driving out Hiway 62 west (toward Telluride), and driving up CR7. About nine miles to the trailhead, at which there are two great hikes: 1) Blue Lake; and 2) Blaine basin. The creek flowing down from BB is incredible -- like a river tumbling down a mountain side. Around Ouray, my favorite hikes are Weehawken, Bear, Oak, and Corbett creeks. Kind regards.
Appreciate the thoughtful comment! I have made note of your great suggestions for hiking in the area. A couple might make it into a future video! Thanks again, Karl 👍👍
Thanks for all the great drone work. We were in the area this morning hiking but too many people around to fly the drone. Gotta do that during the week. Thanks for sharing.😄👍
Thanks buddy, it was a drone extravaganza trip for sure.Flying the drone is super easy but getting real cool shots while doing it all is much more difficult. The next video I have coming is really awesome lots of drone really pretty. Hope all is well with you guys!
So cool to see what you can't see while driving the MDH! Great drone footage, struck by the Red Mountains. My Golly! Thanks for all this creative work.
I did a three day bike ride that included Red Mountain Pass. The route was Silverton over Red Mountain Pass through Ouray to Telluride. Then Telluride to Durango, and on day three Durango back to Silverton. The year I did it (2018 I think) there were fires that closed the road from Telluride to Durango so we had to divert north to Montrose on day 2 and then Montrose to Silverton on day 3. It was called the Death Ride Tour but no one died. We just took in great scenery on a challenging ride. There also was a one day version of that ride called the Death Ride Challenge. That's a double century with over 15,000 feet of climb. Believe it or not there are people who do double centuries with over 15k of climb.
Hey Karl, thanks for posting your amazing footage on here! I came from your Pacific to Atlantic video and was wondering what drones you use, especially for that video?
Hey -- I'll be in CO finishing the 14ers from July 5 to July 12 (ending with Capitol July 11 and the Bells Traverse July 12). I'll be down in the Sangre de Cristos for the first 5-6 days. Would be happy to meet up at any point during the trip or at the end of it.
Sorry took so long...had to be sure that I have finalized plans to be in a different area during the dates you mentioned. Maybe another time, but I appreciate your reaching out! Karl
@@KarlDeckerPresents no worries! I was up for doing something in the spring too! Just let know if you ever wanna coordinate something. I'll be in the Alps the first week of August and the PNW around Labor Day but I'm always up for planning something
I was in Durango/Silverton/Ouray last week to hike. Your video captures the beauty (and peril!) of driving the Million Dollar Highway perfectly. Your adventure videos are among the best produced I’ve seen - professional quality stuff!
What a great mountain town, Karl! Did a via ferrata coarse there with my boys a few years back
Yeah, it sure is! I go through Ouray quite a lot getting to the San Juans. I actually plan doing some of the same one of the days. Karl 👍
Great stuff Karl! Love the drone footage...your animations and editing are spot on! I appreciate content creators like you!
That's very nice to hear, appreciate it! Karl 👍

Glad you enjoyed it! Karl 👍
So much history there. The untold stories would be mind boggling for sure.
Yes. I really appreciate the mining remnants and the impact this has had on the entire area's establishment. Thanks Ron 👍

Yeah thanks, that was DJI air 2S. I now use a mini due to size in backpack.
Got it, thx. Which mini?
Mini 4 Pro
I live here!
Cool, you're lucky!! Mind blowing area
