You are seriously genius in this field. I used a couple of your questions in my last interview and everyone was highly impressed. Note that I had not been in an interview in about 11 years and your videos helped me so much in preparing for that moment. Thank you Sir for sharing all this wealth of knowledge.
Andy! Heading into a job interview in about 3 hours. Putting my questions together in my notebook now. This is a great reminder and hopefully they say, “No,’ to this question when I ask! Thanks for the great content.
Love that story Andy - great analogy!! I spent a few weeks (much to my wife's chagrin) last February troubleshooting our refrigerator. Same type of thing - freezer is freezing and something is messed up in the moving of cold air to the upper frig part. I tell her "I bet it's like a $20 part that needs to be replaced" - wife rolls her eyes! Don't you know it - an intermittent problem with the fan motor - $35 later that $2,000 frig is humming along nice and chill!! Remember that guy McGiver who could cobble anything together - got nothing on me!! :)
😂RANDY! thats' awesome and who doesn't know MacGyver?!?! LOL. BTW, after all those, I have brand new machines for the low low low price of somewhere over $2,200. LOL! They're LGs and I love 'em.
I'd love information on how to handle communications with the hiring manager vs. the recruiter. And maybe a breakdown between internal vs third party recruiter. I feel like I do a great job with hiring manager but internal recruiters tend to make things difficult and I don't always know how to manage/navigate them.
Great question! I always seem apathetic or disinterested because id rather be left alone at my desk doing my work instead talking to people I'll forget about as soon as i leave the room (financial analyst).
Thanks Andy, this is such a funny and meaningful video at the same time, I love your dryer story! Should this be asked at the first interview or should it wait until the second interview?
I’d make sure it’s with a person of authority. If you’re interviewing with the hiring official as the first interview and you’ve been interviewing for an hour, it’s okay to ask on the first date. If you’re talking to an HR person for 30 minutes, I’d wait.
Food for thought, man, but let's make something clear. Since I've started to follow you, at some interviews I've been through, interviewers couldn't deal with techniques I've utilised, either concerning answers or questions. Before getting to know about you, I just haven't met many of these, whichever Hungarian career advisory or coaching platform I came across. Concerning this ultimate question stuff, I suspect that it's kind of alien for Hungarian employers or recruiters, and they might find it non-confident, too apologetic and / or nosy (ie. they might comprehend it as my asking them to utter whether I've got the job). If an interviewer gets surprised about my asking whether they have a reservation to employ me, how can I deal with it?
Julia, you can massage the question to fit your culture. Perhaps, Do you notice any gaps between my background and what you're looking for in a candidate? Something like that. BTW, I have loads of feedback from people in Europe who were reluctant to use some of my contacting and interviewing techniques. Then, after they put them in place, they couldn't get over how quickly people responded to them and got hired. Just go with what you feel is best for you. Adjust appropriately!
@@andylacivita Hi Andy I told you in a previous messgae that I was uncomfortable asking this question. You replied " Do it!" I had my interview on Thursday, and it went brilliantly. I asked the question, and was completely comfortable asking it..... Thank you You're a STAR
I have asked this question at the end of every interview yet all I hear is the AI deciding my fate with a the we are heading in a different direction email. Is there a way to contact a company after an interview and ask how you could improve for your next interview or to find the elusive different direction they are heading in? It is hard to be told that you hit all the right points and they have no reservations.
It is hard especially when they don't have any reservations about you. I share in my YT video, No Bad Job Interview Feedback but Employer Didn’t Hire M, what could be happening.
Recently an employer asked for a video screen to submit on their hiring platform. I had no experience of this before. I wonder if it is okay to post a video with only the upper part of the body have to be the whole body? Thank you
Yes Grace for sure. Also, you might enjoy this video on my channel where I interviewed the CEO of HireVue, one of the leading video, on-demand interviewing tools: th-cam.com/video/Y68qSuNWBcE/w-d-xo.html
I told my wife about this question and she said that the way this question is worded already assumes that I will be hired and it might come off as cocky. What do you think?
Hello Andy thank you for everything you teach I just ordered you’re book ! I really need help I am always nervous in interviews sadly I have a question I was just ask at the end of my interview today if I had any questions and I mistakenly answered no I think you answered them all at the beginning ( due to she was telling me everything about the job , pay , hours ect. Did I mess this opportunity up ? Okay anther question I apologize, Should I call her and politely say I forgot I do have a question?
You're welcome! Enjoy the book. When you are asked in an interview if you have any questions, it is best, right then, to ask a question. Just like the reservation question I suggest in this video. However, I wouldn't worry about it. In your next interview, prepare a few questions to ask.
Thank you Andy, I wrote that down after watching your video sadly my interview was before I found your TH-cam videos. I received an email from her this afternoon stating she is waiting on the manager to get back to her about getting my interview scheduled ! I’m preparing thank you for helping in every way. I am looking forward to you’re book so much knowledge…
