Thanks Susan. It's our upstream river communities that are suffering the bad impacts of this flood... our wetlands and floodplains are benefitting greatly from the high flows down this end. My prayers are with the communities upstream too.
Wow .. your video was great your production team are improving . Very impressed, Still waiting for our next installment of the big trip. Happy paddles. 🐢
Thanks so much Turtle... yep, that production team of one is doing OK 😉 Almost finished MRX episode 5 (just got to choose the music now!) but the weather was prefect for flying this weekend, so decided to head out and grab this quickly while I could. Catch you when the next video comes out 👍
Thank you so much for this Amy. I lived in Berri and Loxton when I was a kid, and immediately felt old when I saw the sign saying the Berri Bridge had been there for 25 years, it wasn't built when I was there! I remember a big flood I think in 1995, but this year looks big Great footage, thanks again for sharing
My family recently moved back to Echuca yesterday, luckily we have a house in Melbourne too so we could get away just incase. I hope everyone downstream of the Murray stays safe! Great footage by the way.
it would be easy paddling down the river now, good to see the flood plains getting a good drink. will be up at the wide ral ral creek in a couple of weeks, great footage
Thanks Ralph 😁 It's great to see all the floodplains doing what they were designed to do! Ral Ral should have a good flow for you, should be great fun!
Fantastic video Amy- as not much being shown Re impact of floods on the Murray - and watching as have family living on it in SA on houseboat- have subscribed - thank you for your work, really good camera work 😀😀
My family and friends planned to paddle between Tocumwal and Echuca in around a week. We postponed until next year sometime around three weeks ago. Good decision based on the Murray flooding. Many thanks Amy for all your great videos. See you on the river next year! The Murray Muddlers.
Yep, good call. Thats a beautiful section if the river when its not flooding! What a pity, but it'll be a bit easier to find a lovely campsite when the waters come back down. Thanks for watching Murray Muddlers!
How devastating I will pray for you every one. Thank you for sharing your video and the time you take to make it. As a movie once said all the rivers run. Good for some and bad for others . Stay safe if possible. My heart is with you all. God bless.
I get home sick when I see the mighty Murray. Great to see it getting a good flush out. Unfortunately these events are not as common as they used to be due to over allocation upstream
Hi Amy, I live in Loxton. My name is Michael and I like your Best Drone Footage of the floods, so in the next few days, I'm going to take my DJI Phantom 4 to record the floods myself.
It's higher near Gurra Gurra creek than it was on Friday, we went through an hour or so ago and couldn't believe how much it had risen. If you want to go shopping in Berri, I wouldn't wait too long!
@@stargalacticfederation It sounds good mate, I've subscribed to your channel so I don't miss a video if you put one up. I'd offer to help you out, but I live in Renmark, so it's a bit of a run around for me unfortunately. Looking forward to seeing the footage if you get some though! 🙂👍
Thanks 😊 and yep, agreed. There were a lot of "wow!" moments yesterday when I sent the drone up at each spot... you can't see just how far the flooding goes even from the cliffs.
Beautiful video, thank you 👏😎, we are still waiting for the flow to come down stream from Renmark, Berri, Loxton to Mannum, Murray Bridge, Wellington to Goolwa. Keep shining! ✝️💖🕊️
For the first six weeks of winter my tanks were getting low and I have enough for now. Will have to go over to Goolwa and see how the lake are going. Its good to see the Murray River will so much water. Hope the farmers will have plenty over the summer. Cheers
Great set of footage in this video and just the right music for it. 😉 I actually recognised some of those spots that you shot too having now just recently been through the area. The river level was getting up in Mildura when we went through there as well.
Jean C I lived in SA up to four years ago, now in Qld but I still love SA. My home was at Goolwa where the Murray goes out to the sea. It's great to see the Murray flowing great again but I am sad to see the flooding of properties. One year the water flow was so bad you could walk half way across the river right in Goolwa, It effected the town but worse the wild life. The pelicans could not get fish to feed the young and to leave them to die. The Coorong is massive huge bird life there but it was effected badly to. They have taken the big dredge away now it was there for eight years to keep the mouth open. I would love to be able to be there to see the water going out through the mouth. I loved living in Goolwa it's a beautiful place but circumstances changed that. It's one place I will never forget.
Yes, the millenium drought was just awful. I was in the Riverland then also, and it was a very tough time for the environment and the community - I certainly hope I never see that again in my lifetime. I'd love to see the mouth getting a good flush out too - I might take a trip down there in a month or so and put the drone up (if it's not too windy!)
I came down the Darling from Pooncarie to Wentworth on a minor flood, but resisted the temptation to try going through the weir 10 navpass: I might not get back. The water actually has a step drop through the pass, and much bigger vessels have had trouble surmounting it coming upstream. One returning upstream from a Renmark rally burnt out a gearbox clutch at weir 6. The big paddlesteamer Ruby, returning from the same rally, sideswiped the *outside* wall of lock 10. The main rise is still in Victoria, around Swan Hill. SA will have much more yet.
Good morning Amy, I’ve been wondering about how you guys are faring. I will now watch the video and see. I suppose we are none the wiser but hopefully you aren’t flooded like the thousands of houses and businesses in Shepparton, Echuca and parts of NSW. As I’m in Melbourne, I am okay, but across town, the Maribynong River inundated homes and even this week a storm cell ended up flooding sections of the eastern suburbs. I’m visiting friends about 90km from where I live, the Princes Highway was generally in good condition but there was a sign for rough road ahead. Sure enough, floods or just the relentless rains had lifted almost the whole lane of bitumen. Rather exciting when travelling at 110 kmh. Then a huge pothole appeared in my lane. I just missed that by centimetres. After that I saw three vehicles changing their tyres and one tow truck collecting a vehicle. Drive to the conditions is what to do during these floods. I return home today and I will keep my eyes peeled for any holes in the road. Cheers, Paul
Oooo, yeah, avoid those potholes! There's a few shacks that have soggy feet further down river, but in the Riverland were all fairly good... anyone that's in a low lying area is generally behind a levy bank, and those are currently being shored up. It's due to get a metre higher by December some time, and by then any houses that would be at risk at the high levels will be safe and sound behind levy banks or sandbags... we get a lot of notice down this end thankfully!

It's very close to flooding the road now, much higher than this shows. I wouldn't be surprised if it does flood the road between Loxton and Berri in the next couple of days.
Wow, well, it is expected to rise another metre higher than it was on Friday once the peak of the flood hits, so yes, the Loxton-Berri road will go under if it does get that high.
@@AmyOutdoors I reckon it will, unless they can channel it into other areas, but the rain's filling them up anyway. They were pumping alongside the road on the way into Renmark to stop that flooding, and have been in a few places around Renmark, including at the end of my street, and that's not from the river, it's rain! 😬
Yeah, that's a lot of water. My Grandfather was a farmer in Iowa for 50+ years, and he never lived by a river or large creek.
