- Waterski racing at Gosford NSW Australia.
It was so great to see some form of racing back at Gosford waterfront, also lovely to hear V8 motors roaring 😁😁.
The racers did well to hold onto the back of the tow boats with rough conditions at over 1000hp for some of the boats.

Cool to see they are still racing at the old aquatic club. I used to ride my bike down there 45 years ago and catch the races. Doesn't quite look the event of yesteryear - nicer boats with bigger budgets but it does not always translate to an improvement. Thanks for sharing!!

Sounds so good I always love the mercury pro SX v8 and the mercury racing. Not bad for a 4 stroke I love them.

Yeah, was a good weekend.
Had to film a few boats and put a vid up even though it’s not my normal smaller outboard stuff, I love all boats so was super excited 😆.
Yeah, the V8 outboards sound great, especially on startup.

Wow I thought circuit ski racing would have been banned years ago as they seem to ban anything that becomes dangerous. I remember the La mans drag there at Gosford from years ago and that got banned.

That 6 blade prop is probably worth more than my boat, trailer and old 80 series
The prop alone is worth $10k plus
Yeah, apparently the props are about $10000 dollars, that’s very expensive for a prop.

Massive $$, one guy said he used over $300.00 of fuel in 1/2 hr 😂😂.
Some of the boats are about 400k.

I got hold of a 6'6" fibreglass tri hull yacht tender to go with a motor i had.... a tuned 1984 15hp Johnson. The idea started when I came across a cut down bronze semi surface 3 blade clever. It was run on a high reving 25hp. I made a steel adjustable jack plate through the transom, bolted to 3 fibreglassed in pine stringers.
It ran 1/3 of the prop in the water, catch sprays and custom tube water inlets, and I got 54mph out of it.... in front of Stephan's off shore powerboat crew who happened to be testing on the same day!! 😊 I went past them to get some big thumbs up as I dealt with waves and skipped meters of clean water. The grins were great to see.

1985 ish... Missile. Big block. Then blown. Then twin turbo . Always NOS. As a teenager it was always my favourite. Haines SO's were the go for any water condition, or Bullet sandwich hulls....2.4 6pacs efi

I definitely remember the Haines SO boats as being great in most water conditions. I will always love the sound of the 2.4 liter 😁
