    The only bad thing is it’s a 4 stroke, can’t beat the sound of a 2 stroke, 1 of the main reason I love scooters is the noise and smell of the 2 stroke

      @@joedonnelly7608 for me a 125 is fast enough so the A1 licence does the job. An A2 will let you ride a 300cc scooter, or the DAS for a big bike. But if you're doing A2 you may as well do the DAS instead as they cost about the same ! Great feeling getting rid of the L's ! Thanks for the feedback and good luck !👍🏻🛵

    I had exactly same scooter, around 4,500 miles the starter motor packed in, the exhaust rusted through in a year( I'm guessing that your exhaust has been replaced) the speedo did stop working, very hard to get replacements. On top of this the front brake pads needed changing twice, as well as did the wheel bearings, the accelerator cable completely rusted through. I did look after my Royal Alloy, it had 4 full service's so none of this happened through neglect. If you are only taking it out on sunny days you might be able to reduce some of the above ailments, I used it to commute to work and back through rain, wind and sometimes light snow. The linked breaking system is supposed to be a nightmare to work on (i am not mechanically minded) according to the mechanic that maintained mine. There are other issues, not many mechanics will repair these, as the parts are hard to come by (apart from the cosmetic side, ie windshield, racks, white walls, seat covers) and it usually means that they cluttering up much needed space in their garage. On the plus side, they look great and are quite nippy, the plastic bodywork wasn't an issue with me, less to rust, apart from underneath the panels. I personally gave it up as I was sick of throwing money at it and purchased a Vespa 125 GTS.

    • @RoyalAlloyRider
      @RoyalAlloyRider  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, sounds like a nightmare ! To be honest mine was pre-owned, full dealer service history and the previous owner had never taken it out in the rain, just Sunny Sunday Afternoon rides, which is pretty much what I'm doing too. I'm sure that's a big factor. I'm also sure that the newer models are less fraught with issues such as the speedo etc, which has been improved, along with other factory faults. Must have been frustrating for you. Hows the Vespa ?

    • @johnginniver4220
      @johnginniver4220 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RoyalAlloyRider The Vespa is fantastic mate, what understably puts people off buying these are price. If you do only use this in the sunny dry days you should be alright with the Alloy. Like the Ocean Colour Scene decals, look spot on. I think with the GP they have ironed out a few of the problems I encountered, keep safe, enjoy your scooter.

  • @andreabell7171

    Looks good can't tell its plastic, not going to rust if kept outside and should manoeuvre and be quicker than the metal gp model ? which is the best to get .

    • @RoyalAlloyRider
      @RoyalAlloyRider  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah if you're planning on keeping it outside then plastic body is a definite advantage I think. Anyone who has a GP will tell you that a GP is best, majority of bodywork is metal instead of plastic, so apparently feels more solid ? I've never ridden a GP so cant yet comment, but I can confirm that the GT does look the business, and yes I don't think it looks like plastic at all, hard to tell, visually at least. The GT is considerably cheaper than the GP, and as I went the pre owned option, I saved a bundle compared with a brand new GP. Overall I think these Royal Alloys are quality, whichever model you choose. Let us know when you get one !

    Great looking scooter 👌. I have been thinking about getting one.
    I would also be a brand new rider....any advice?

    • @RoyalAlloyRider
      @RoyalAlloyRider  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My advice would be to join some of the Royal Alloy facebook groups, lookout for a decent second hand one. In addition to saving a packet, they've been run in and often had any issues fixed along the way. At least that's my experience with mine. Second bit of advice.......do it, you won't regret it ! 😁🛵

    I thought the RA GT125's were metal bodied and it was the Scomadi's that were plastic?

      RA GT125s are plastic, it's the GP model that is metal. Not sure about the scomadi range, although i believe they are pretty much identical apart from the badge.🤔
