  • After a few comments on my channel I decided to quickly discuss what I think about the MT07 as a first bike.

    Just bought the 23 MT-07 as a first bike, I absolutely love it. Wouldn't trade it for the world. You made a few great points in this video. I can understand getting an older bike as a first but here on Vancouver Island when the pandemic hit the prices on used bikes went pretty crazy and so did availability. I figured I'd make some sacrifices and work my face off and get the bike I truly wanted. Anyway, great video, thanks for the content!

      Good for you! And congrats, well done. Can you ride year round out there? I used to live in Vancouver and I keep say dreaming about moving to around Victoria. Riding season is coming to an end out here.

      It has been a few months since your last post- how has it been starting on this bike? Im practicing on a 650 as a brand new rider and am doing really well. I’ll also probably buy new, people are selling their used 2019s for almost the same price and they are not budging on the price!

    Heavily considering this bike as my second bike, my first is a KLR 650! Guess what brought me to your channel :)

      Noice!! It’s a super fun bike for sure. A lot more pep than the KLR but somehow I miss my old indestructible adventure KLR!

    My crappy old bike was a honda xl500r 1982. Learn on a junker, ride the turttle gang street bike. And love every minute.

    I'd love to say I'm gonna go out and buy an XSR700 as my first bike....
    But I'm probably going to get an MT03.

      If you can respect the bike and be careful you’d be ok. But they are pretty toquey bikes. Maybe test ride both if you’re able to.

      @@nickandmotorcycletime5246 That's the plan. I've got friends who have been riding for 10+ years (we're all in our 30s) and they fall into two camps. One group is "grow into it" and the other is "work up to it".
      I lean towards "work up to it". Money isn't an issue, but having never even been on a dirt bike before I want to do everyrhing I can to not build bad habits.

      @@neonsheep3358 I think that’s smart of you. You’ll be a better rider for it. I know lots of people who think their riding capabilities are beyond their bike, and I disagree. I still have so much to learn on this bike and many other bikes. You’d be better for it by mastering a small then leveling up. Let me know what you choose!

    been riding dirtbikes all my life and have a 450 right now, do you think an mt-07 is too much for a first streetbike? pretty calm rider who likes to go fast or wheelie sometimes.

      @nickandmotorcycletime5246  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No way, you’re good to go! I have only been riding for 4 years and it’s a very approachable bike. I think you’ll be better than most of us already haha. I slowly became more bored of the bike though to be honest, I ended up selling it for way more than I bought it for. Getting into adventure riding now. Hope this helps!

      @@nickandmotorcycletime5246 good to know thanks ! I plan to just ride locally for the most part and don’t need to much power I just love the sound and look , and the adventure bikes are awesome for sure I could see myself getting one some day

      @@roadkill44mu yeah, it’s the best sounding bike out there I think. That whole experience is wicked, the feedback riding it is awesome. You’ll have a blast. Yeah, I’ve ridden most of the roads I can around me and find I want to go on huge adventures now more then putting around town.

    Disregarding price... I feel the power of the MT07 is a little too much for a beginner, my MT07 was my 2nd bike after I rode a Yamaha R3 for a few years, those little 300's are the best to learn on. I mean the MT07 can easily power wheelie from 1st and 2nd gear, even 3rd gear is bucky from low RPM's, the sub 400cc bikes don't react like that, they're tame and VERY forgiving. The MT07 CAN be chill but it's not forgiving if you REALLY mess up with your throttle hand. I know in the USA a LOT of folks start on that 650ish class but it's NOT for the everyone.
