I can see the short hookeroon to reach the furthest pieces on the log lift so this old man don't have to lean over the spiltter to far (bad back). I use a kindling cracker wedge while I'm enjoying a brew or two. The axe looks a fine piece of equipment!
@Carolina Firewood I’m 5’9” with reasonable length arms and that thing is still a bit short to reach on the splitter. I’d still use the longer hookaroon. The kindling cracker makes more sense or batoning a hatchet or short splitter for kindling seems more stable
