@rhysincoll3176 there was a recall where the spark plug cap/cover was leaking when washed with a pressure washer. They replaced that free of cost. While I didn't personally face this problem, several owners have had to replace the chain/sprocket and/or brake pads very early (although that may be due to their riding style). The suspension is stiff, not really comfortable for passengers ( better seats or air cushions along with a backrest helps a lot). Please keep an eye on all the screws, nuts, and bolts. Style-wise, that SuperMeteor is undeniably well thought out and brilliantly executed. Put a windscreen on it and a pillion backrest so that from 50 metres, it's indistinguishable from the Triumph beside it. On video the fit and finish appears exemplary, so if the ride is up to the lofty standards set by the styling and build, then Royal Enfield is about to have another runaway hit, incredibly successful model. It seems they are the new hotness, stepping out ahead of the old and shaggy...
Good to see you sitting on the Super Meter at last Freddie. I started with the 350 (Fireball yellow) and bought the 650 Interstellar red about 4 months ago and have never looked back... absolutely love it. That extra oomph and weight makes it a dream to ride as it feels so planted compared to the 350... Merry Christmas to yourself and Monika.
I owned a Thunderbird 1600, put 60K miles on it with just routine maintenance. It’s a great bike and here in the states it rolls down our highways without any trouble. I traded it in on a new Speedmaster as most of my riding shorter distances. If I had the garage space and more money I would have kept it as well.

Hi Freddie this is you. Forget about your Triumphs this is the bike for you. Get the Bonny fixed and chop it in for a SM 650 I’ve used on now for ten months. Been to Holland Belgium and all over. I’ve been biking for 59 years and this is one of the best bikes I’ve ever owned. Think seriously about this bike. Cheers Yorkshire Steve
You can't go wrong with one of these I adore mine. And don't listen to the complainers about the rear suspension, it softens up the more you ride it. 🖤🖤🖤 I have a hand made Tasmanian exhaust made by Verex Tasmania on mine sounds gorgeous.
Great to see you have the Super Meteor. I have owned one for six months now and I can honestly say its the best bike I have ever owned. So much so I have started a channel and done a few videos on it. Interesting to hear the rear pillion seat is not very comfy. Looking forward to hearing your opinions on it. 👍😀
The SM650 Celestial Red is my first bike, but I test rode a bunch!! The SM650 felt the best by far. I love it, and so do my passengers. It looks beautiful, sounds great, and rides smooth!
Thank you! I loved the sincere enthusiasm radiating from your video. And of course I appreciate the valuable insight and comments. Since I'm craving for a Super Meteor right now, I have seen tons of videos, but yours gave me the the best vibes. The comparison at the end is the icing on the cake! Greetings from Hungary.
Thanks for the video Freddie & Monica. For me, I would choose the R.E. Super Meteor over the Triumph Thunderbird. I don't require the additional amount of power. That R.E. has sufficient amount of power for me & many people riding two up. That is unless you live here in the U.S. with a good amount of the people being many pounds overweight. Happy holidays to you both. Illinois, USA
Rode one here in NZ on a promotion day. Really comfy easy to ride didnt get it out on the open road to stretch its legs i liked it. Ride a triumph Bonneville myself. Interesting to see the out come of Freddies Bonneville.
Ohh Freddie & Monika, your minds are filled with complexities & your bodies with constant movements. I pray for you both to have a fantastic Christmas & hearts full of new year resolutions, full of adventures & good fortunes. I would dearly love to see you on a Guzzi V7 one day again. Cheers to the both you 🎄⭐️
Finally my prayers are answered Freddie swings his leg over a super meteor i have been asking for this bike to be on the channel for so long Thanks for listening Freddie.
So excited to see your series on the super meteor. It was going to be my first bike this year until I decided to get something more sensible to go touring on. I’ll probably save some money and get this later as a second hand bike though.
Great video Freddie, you seem so at home in Ipswich, why would you go back to London a place that is not for a gentleman like you or any of us these days ,great watching you ride round Essex loved the witch finder general episode 😀
What an awesome bike! I bought an Indian Scout 1200 new in 2017 to try to slow myself down a bit. With 100bhp and a huge spread of torque it hasn't worked; I chase down sportsbikes & Adv bikes and scrape the pegs everywhere - NOT what a cruiser is built for. The SM650 is a far better cruiser option and at nearly half the price of a new Scout represents amazing value for money. Looking forward to watching more of your exploits together. Merry Christmas! 🎄
Agree. I've got a Continental GT with essentially the same engine and it has more than enough power to overtake road traffic travelling at roughly legal speeds and also to lose my licence. It doesn't feel gutless although it clearly isn't a powerhouse.@@Andy_ATB
Quick recommend as you are changing between bikes often - you should take a look at the carabiner style helmet locks since you can move them between bikes seamlessly and they’re so small you can just keep on the bars or in your jacket when not riding. Would make locking up your helmets very easy and less hassle than bringing them with you on errands/lunches/etc. Makes it so much easier when my girlfriend comes along for rides and I need the extra lock so we can leave them behind. (Maybe not in central London tho 😬) Cheers. Happy holidays.
Currently riding a 06 Honda Shadow 750, but the Super Meteor is a beautiful bike. Definitely on my list of potential future bike purchases. I enjoyed learning on the Meteor 350 in my MSF class, so I think the SP would also be enjoyable.
Great video as always Freddie. Royal Enfield are producing some nice, quality bikes now. Definitely one to look to in the future. Have you moved back to Ipswich now?
Glad that you have got hold of the Super Meteor, Freddie. I have owned one since March 1st and recently uploaded an 8 month ownership review. You're right it has street appeal and sits very well with the larger displacement cruisers we've become familiar with.
My opinion on the looks: the only foult i can find on it is the paintjob emphasizing an opside-down V line that starts at the senter of the front wheel goes up to the tank thand then comes down to the center of the back wheel. i would paint it to emphasize more horizontal lines. I do also think this bikes fit Freddie like an worn in glove.
Have had a super meteor new since June. just clocked up 4600 miles cruise at 70mph all day on motorway , get 73mpg around town and 80 mpg on a long run what more do you want.
Hi Freddie eventually purchased my Super Meteor Touring after getting rid of the 350, which was just not adequate as a motorcycle. You will love the Super Meteor and it is a beautifully looking machine and very well put together. Enjoy you time on board and maybe like me after the test ride I bought one. The touring seat is a huge improvement for a pillion 👍
Hi Freddy, I'm French, I love your videos! I am a former owner of the Meteor 350 and I was hesitating between the Interceptor and the Super Meteor My budget has decided for me and it will be a second-hand interceptor because at the moment the super meteor is too expensive for me 😁 Can't wait for you to test the new Himalayan which looks fabulous By ✌🏻
Great video Freddie and Monika. Actually, I am new to your channel. My first introduction to you guys was through your Goa videos and I went back to your catalogue. Lovely to see you in your home, your comfort zone that is Great Britain. I am an Indian who used to live in the UK (Harrow and Brent, Middlesex and Wales) for more than 10 years so I could relate to this video. Your videos are so fantastically shot and I love how you capture the landscape, mixed with totally charming music. By the way, I can't say I am a biker but I think I am on the path of becoming one. I got a new motorcycle recently (which is a toy, a TVS XL-100 BS6 Heavy Duty) compared to your magnificent new bike) but still I love it. Your videos are deeply inspiring because they look elegant in every sense and you both have great aesthetic values in how you present your videos. I wish I could make videos like these.... the journeys you undertake, the nice blend of the environment and slice-of-life moments to not make look too much like a geeky video. Greetings and love from absolutely mad Mumbai, India. 😊❤
At last , waiting to here your views. Just completed 650 miles on mine, bought in September love it as much as my Vn 900 with a better exhaust note nearly same power delivery! Ps have an excellent Christmas wherever you are both of you! ADE
The RE does look great and suits you well. Not nearly enough power for me though. I had a Triumph Thunderbird, the Storm variant (1700), outstanding bit of kit. The one you have there is a Commander I think, also 1700. Very reliable, a friend of mine has well over 150,000 miles on his. I did 50,000 miles on mine, So of the two, I would go for the T'bird Storm, they hold their value well too. As for the Super Meteor, it is an outstanding effort by RE and their best bike in my opinion. Time will tell on their reliability.
The 650 is low on power but I enjoy having a few bikes with all different output. If it's your only bike i can see wanting more power. The engine is also easy to work on and install new cams or the big bore kit.
Freddie , You have the ability to make any motor bike look cool 😎 I would never consider the super meteor but maybe 🤔 now I would ? But I know I wouldn’t look cool 😂 it’s a great channel , nostalgia, dreaming and hopefully doing what we all associate with owning and riding our bikes 👍👍
Perfect for those smaller journeys with slower speeds. But i would take the Triumph Speedmaster though. Living in Canada all rides are on big high speed Highways, and that small engine would be a little lacking for long 6-10 hour rides...
It's so nice to be back in Ipswich. Your videos from here, and the surroundig areas, have always been far more interesting to watch, and the area seems to fit better to the people you both are..., when are you both moving back again? Looking at this Meteor and hearing your initial thoughts on it, has certainly made me think of at least looking for a test run on one. Probably, like all REs, it needs to be run-in, to be the bike it was always intended to be. So for a test ride, look for one with at least it's 1st service completed, before buying any RE. The Thunderbird was a fantastic looker, but not made for long enough, to sell in big numbers..., unfortunately! Because of that, anybody looking for a used one of these, is gonna have to part with a large chunk of his savings, especially if he's after a low mileage exemplar. So I don't know where you got your numbers from. Surely the difference between Ipswich and Bern can't be 3000 to 5000 pounds difference on the used market? anyway, that counts me out!
I agree you pay a premium on the thunderbird for a very low mileage one. I paid prob over the odds for a 2015 4k one. My friend not long after picked one up around £7000 though around 10k on the clock. They can be found, different conditions etc. Fantastic bikes though
Very interested in this bike as an Interceptor owner. My gf finds the ride pretty uncomfortable though and moving the pillion pegs forward and upgrading to touring seat haven't helped much. Would love to know if the pillion stance, ergonomics, etc are more comfortable, stock seat aside!
@@mr.solitude3352 definitely the case with Interceptor and Continental. I was under the impression that Classic 350/500 and Meteor are on the comfortable side for pillion though! Hopefully Freddie will have more insight
@@MichaelNika-x8z the classic 350 has an excellent pillion comfort rating from freddie (and monika). i own the bike and can safely say its excellent. im sure the super meteors would be even better, it looks slightly longer, however i hope its as thick as the 350’s pillion seat.
Funny you should mention the HD Dyna…I’m between a 2015 HD Dyna Fat Bob or the new Super Meteor. Both around the $7k price point! Hoping you take a lap around with the Dyna and give us some thoughts! Merry Christmas!
Great to see images of Ipswich town centre. I went to Suffolk college for two years back in the 90's, nice to take a trip down memory lane. The Super Meteor is a fine looking machine. Interested to hear whether you prefer it to the Classic 350. Keep up the great work!
Great work as always Freddie and Monika. I am so glad that you have got your hands on a Super Meteor at last. Very interested to hear your thoughts on it. I had a 2005 honda shadow 750 and when i sat on the Super Meteor at the NEC I was surprised at how the size and dimensions felt very similar. However the RE offers better performance and economy than the honda. Could it be a better option than a twenty (or so..) year old Japanese cruiser as a good one is still strong money to buy. Wishing you both a very happy Christmas.
Freddie! so excited for more super meteor content! Honestly i think this is your next bike, we all know how much you love cruisers but the bonnie being classic british fits you and the channel most (im an HD fan boy but admit the channel wouldnt be the same). This is the Speedmaster on a budget. Please buy one! ...plus the center stand will incentivise you to keep the chain clean!
It's a very good looking cruiser type bike. But I would think 46BHP is a little low for good cruising. My old z650 had 64bhp and that's nice for keeping on about 150-60kmph.
Great bike great video! I just subscribed to your channel and I’ve been really enjoying it! I ride a Harley Low rider S and I absolutely love it but you’ve really inspired me to get a classic 350. I love small displacement bikes and the older I get the less I care about horsepower and the more I care about comfort and enjoying the ride! Not to mention how good the classic looks. Thank you for sharing!
Lovely looking bike. However, such a heavy bike with such low power. Good for a Sunday bimble for an hour. Couldn't quite see from your video if this cruiser gives you a curved spine when riding or if too much weight is transferred to the coccyx, both of which wouldn't be comfortable for any length of time. Good to know of any aches and pains from your ride. 👍
Love a cruiser , but after owning two at 800cc and a 1400cc. I'd definitely think your miss the extra torque on anything lower than 800cc especially if you want to travel with friends.
It's like nearly there.......but the side panels accentuate the awkward frame lines at that area, they should have used panels that cover the frame and "flow" to the rear. The number plate ruins the bike like it did to HD Sportsters.
So glad that your faithful companion spoke up about how much more comfortable the Thunderbird would be for a pillion. Even if you got a different seat for the RE. You don't always include a pillion's perspective in your assessment of bikes, Freddie. Always remember that making your pillion happy is Job One.
id say that monikas opinion is very much often considered in the bike analysis, whether it be from a simple comment behind camera, or an explanation of why she really likes a bike. often the explanation is spurned on by freddie getting her input about pillion comfort :)
I've got the Celestial Red SM650 and it's got an upgraded seat and a very comfortable pillion with a small backrest! I love it, and so do my passengers.
Test rode the SM Interstellar. The touring seat is really comfortable for both rider and pillion. The only criticism of the whole bike was the overly firm rear suspension even with the preload wound off. Easily sorted though once aftermarket replacements become available
Such a tease Dobbs!😂 Respect your vids on other RE's! And agree. Proud my son In-law wants a 350 RE classic for a first bike! 😊 I did buy the SM 650, with Barend Mirrors and it's awesome for me as a commuter, coffee run and a day out. I don't need more power and comfort and design is awesome! Even from the showroom riding out, the gear changes are positive and the 650 motor is smooth as honey! Anywho, from Australia... Looking for the next vid!
The bike fits your height and build• I like the fact that you are able to handle the weight so well• for me my knees are weak for I had hurt them• But man it suits your profile so well• I think I am going to try Himalayan 452
I like that it has a centre stand. I like the overall appearance and the no frills engineering. I have a 1975 Yamaha XS650 which has similar power output, slightly less braking and slightly more sporty seating position. By the time I have finished with its renovation it would have cost me about the same as if I had bought the RE 2nd hand. I suspect that the Enfield is most likely more economical, I also expect that the Yamaha is a lot louder abeit with completely standard "silencers" which were allowed in the day. You appear to be quite tall and yet you dont dwarf the bike as with some of the modern offerings. Try to keep this one away from the tea leafs.
i was just watching your video where you picked up the classic 350 for the second time, and mentioned reviewing this bike! great review, a bike in its own league. few things im personally not a fan of; material choice on some parts make it seem a little less high quality than it actually is, and the exhaust, think a different style might have better matched the bike. id say that the classic 350 makes more sense to be made into a 650 version than the meteor, i think as a cruiser of that weight, a even larger engine might be a bit better suited.
Very good well presented video as usual. The Royal Enfield seems like a lot of bike for the money, and it should hold some it's value quite well. Is the white fluffy cat yours?
Taken out the 650 meteor lovely bike but sorry in my eyes not a patch on the my 2023 model triumph speedmaster Which I think has the looks over the meteor, yes there is a difference in price but I would feel I was settling for second best.

I'm going to test a Super Meteor 650 next Wednesday here in Barcelona. This video came in super handy. Might be my next bike :)
You can't go wrong with one of these I adore mine. And don't listen to the complainers about the rear suspension, it softens up the more you ride it. 🖤🖤🖤
I have a hand made Tasmanian exhaust made by Verex Tasmania on mine sounds gorgeous.
Love the 11:11 on the clock. You are in the right place at the right time guys. ❤
Looks amazing! I know for an absolute fact how well made the engine and gearbox are made. Fantastic bike. Suits you!!!
The bike really does look amazing! Glad to see it on the channel and excited for the next few videos with it 😁
Ohh Freddie & Monika, your minds are filled with complexities & your bodies with constant movements. I pray for you both to have a fantastic Christmas & hearts full of new year resolutions, full of adventures & good fortunes.
I would dearly love to see you on a Guzzi V7 one day again.
Cheers to the both you 🎄⭐️
Gorgeous bike! Always a pleasure watching your videos, man! Greetings from Italy
The pricing in the UK is double that of India, the country of manufacture. In India, the scenario with cars is the same.
That's because RE's are designed and built in India and exported to other countries
Finally my prayers are answered Freddie swings his leg over a super meteor i have been asking for this bike to be on the channel for so long
Thanks for listening Freddie.
I’m so happy to finally have it for a couple of weeks!😃🕺
What a great looking bike, with stunning colours. 650 ccm and 46 hp are more than enough. I ´m thinking about to buy one…😊
Somebody with sense; 46 hp is more than enough for riding on roads........People who say they need more should stick to trackdays.....
Lovely colour-scheme. I don’t think we get that one here in Australia.
Great looking bike. All the style in a manageable package. Screen soft bags, and away.
Ride safe and happy travels 👍
Are you missing Ipswich Freddie? It looks quite upmarket now.
Have had a super meteor new since June. just clocked up 4600 miles cruise at 70mph all day on motorway , get 73mpg around town and 80 mpg on a long run what more do you want.
I'd advise you to put the rear shock up a notch or two 👌🏻
Hi Freddie eventually purchased my Super Meteor Touring after getting rid of the 350, which was just not adequate as a motorcycle. You will love the Super Meteor and it is a beautifully looking machine and very well put together. Enjoy you time on board and maybe like me after the test ride I bought one. The touring seat is a huge improvement for a pillion 👍
Hi Freddy, I'm French, I love your videos! I am a former owner of the Meteor 350 and I was hesitating between the Interceptor and the Super Meteor
My budget has decided for me and it will be a second-hand interceptor because at the moment the super meteor is too expensive for me 😁
Can't wait for you to test the new Himalayan which looks fabulous By ✌🏻
Wait and go for Himalayan 450 it's tank on difficult broken roads
I love the Enfields . If I decide to start riding again this spring it will be on an Enfield. Dam they look good
At last , waiting to here your views.
My brother has a Rocket 3. Insane machine.
Great production, gentleman rider, nice review of the bike!!
Perfect for those smaller journeys with slower speeds. But i would take the Triumph Speedmaster though. Living in Canada all rides are on big high speed Highways, and that small engine would be a little lacking for long 6-10 hour rides...
Did you really just call a 650 a small engine? I think you've bought into the "bigger is better" marketing a bit too much.
46 hp is not much for a bike weighing 240kg.
Royal Enfield too had the Thunderbird 350 and 500 which it replaced by Meteor 350
What beautiful scenery you've got over there my friend. 🍻
So glad you shared this. When you care enough for your pillion, you will bypass almost all RE bikes.
@@mr.solitude3352 definitely the case with Interceptor and Continental. I was under the impression that Classic 350/500 and Meteor are on the comfortable side for pillion though! Hopefully Freddie will have more insight
@@MichaelNika-x8z the classic 350 has an excellent pillion comfort rating from freddie (and monika). i own the bike and can safely say its excellent. im
sure the super meteors would be even better, it looks slightly longer, however i hope its as thick as the 350’s pillion seat.
Hi Freddie
Ipswich looks like a much nicer place than London and probably a lot safer
Great video
Funny you should mention the HD Dyna…I’m between a 2015 HD Dyna Fat Bob or the new Super Meteor. Both around the $7k price point! Hoping you take a lap around with the Dyna and give us some thoughts! Merry Christmas!
Very nice but I think you should take a look at the moto guzzi v 7 special it will do everything in style.
You seem much happier back in Suffolk .
Try the Ofton Limburners Dinner if you get chance.
7miles from Ipswich.
It's hard to believe that, over 40 years on, this has 40 kg more weight, and less power, than either my 1978 Triumph T140, or 1980 Suzuki GS550.
Great to see images of Ipswich town centre. I went to Suffolk college for two years back in the 90's, nice to take a trip down memory lane. The Super Meteor is a fine looking machine. Interested to hear whether you prefer it to the Classic 350. Keep up the great work!
I was born in Suffolk in the 60s while my dad was in the service, never been back..bucket list for me
Great work as always Freddie and Monika.
Really nice bike 😊 if I was to change my bonneville It would be the super meteor for sure😊 quality video as always 👏👏
Beautiful bike Freddie
The Roger Ramjet R on the side casing needs removing.
It looks Silly.
Other than that, very nice indeed. 👌
One thing that impresses me about the super meteor is that all of the various aluminum parts appear to have the exact same finish.
What kind of cruiser seat did the Triump have?
I like the meteor but I'm holding out for a super classic. My 350 is stellar, I need it's bigger brother too
You might be waiting a while, rumoured is late 2024 or 2025.
I do like the 'Solo Motorcycles Only' road writing. Is 'combination' parking a bit of an issue in sunny Ipswich?
Such a tease Dobbs!😂
Respect your vids on other RE's! And agree. Proud my son In-law wants a 350 RE classic for a first bike! 😊
I did buy the SM 650, with Barend Mirrors and it's awesome for me as a commuter, coffee run and a day out.
Awesome to see Jarvis/Vision having human experiences and even better riding a RE!
I noticed you were hunting around for the pegs when you left the garage. Glad I’m not the only one 😂. Had mine for three months, love it
I like that it has a centre stand.
Waited for your video on this. Thanks! Loved that 11:11
Looks a lot like my Bonneville Speedmaster 23 model. Very nice.
Love the racer gloves - they are my favourite winter ones
Taken out the 650 meteor lovely bike but sorry in my eyes not a patch on the my 2023 model triumph speedmaster Which I think has the looks over the meteor, yes there is a difference in price but I would feel I was settling for second best.
can we increase the ground clearance though?
I like watching your videos - to the point! Nice presentation! Keep it up!!
Ipswitch feels pangs of nostalgia my Grandad was a tug captain there. What a man don't make them like that anymore.Great bike lol.
Good looking, refined and rugged. The bike looks good too 😉
Jeez you made Ipswich look good! The bike looks super too. Great vid, cheers.
OH MY KRISHNA! it is finally happening! Let's go Dobbs!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😆 it’s finally happening!
Nice one. I’ve just bought an old kwaka Vulcan 900, not used to the cruiser style so will see how it suits me after Alberta’s winter
I have a 350 meteor, and Bonneville and this will be next as soon as available in my area.
