@@bloxmobs8890 Ok, if you can get a Geforce 710 at least, you might have an alright experience. Those games are a little bit much for this system, especially for competitive playing. Older titles will work well, still pretty versatile if you have other games you want to play.
Hi, I see you installed a 128 GB SSD. Can I install a 500 GB SSD in a Dell Optiplex Minitower? Also, can it handle 16GB RAM? Thanks
You can definitely install a 500GB SSD. Dell documentation lists a max of 8GB RAM, but sometimes systems can take more. If you have 16GB handy to test out, try it and let me know as I have never tired myself.
@@HaisteComputerRepair Thanks, Im sorry, I was confused, I have not a minitower, actually I have the normal one I guess it is a Small Form Factor like the one you show at your video. Regarding the RAM memory, there is a manual in Dell where it shows it can handle a maximum of 16GB though there is another manual that shows it only handles up to 8GB. I think I will take a risk and buy another two 4GB dimms. I already have 8GB installed but I guess will risk some money and see what happens. Will let you know. Thanks.
@@bambampepe Sounds good, I would be interested to know! Keep checking eBay for deals. Or perhaps the local buy and sells.
@@HaisteComputerRepair Hi, I just installed another two RAM modules (4GB each) for a total of 16GB. It is working. However, for some reason it shows that only 15GB are available. Im dissapointed. I wonder why? My processor is 64bits running windows 10 64bits. At first it took a long time to start but it is working fine. I turned it off and then turn on again and this second time it started really fast. I installed two brand new RAM modules: " Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G " Next step is to install a 500GB SSD. Hope this helps
why don't use GT 1030 for VGA ?
That would be much better than what I installed in this video, that's for sure. I was just using what I had laying around my shop at the time.
So I bought the monitor from Amazon and I checked inside the thing and I don’t know if the graphics card is small or dosent have it at all.
(Ps I’m new to pc)
Hey Dude. When you say you bought the monitor, do you mean the desktop computer? There may be no graphics card, which would mean that you could source one and install it yourself. It's fairly easy, you could even use this video as a guide. Let me know if you want some recommendations.
@@HaisteComputerRepair yes I don’t have a graphics card so yes
@@WrongNumber76 Ok, check out local sales for 1 GB or 2GB low profile graphics cards. What are you looking to do with the PC?
Hello what's your recommend for gpu for dell optiplex 780 my pc is like yours.. I'm looking for low profile I hope u can help me my psu is 280 watts
I would say look for a Nvidia GeForce 210 (1GB) or GeForce 710 (2GB). Both low profile and will be fine with that PSU.
@@HaisteComputerRepair thank you so much :)
@@HaisteComputerRepair I found geforce gt710 2gb GDDR5.. Low profile the recommend psu is 300 Watts.. it is still okay?
@@okawaiikoto2927 I think so, yes. The card itself should be fine, but just be mindful about what games/software you are planning to use with it and how much your system can handle. Keep it cool and keep it lean if necessary :)
@@HaisteComputerRepair I will keep that in mind.. Thank you
Hello.Tell me what kind of power supply you have, will this video card have enough 255 W power?
Which video card are you wanting to use?
@@HaisteComputerRepair Approximately the same as your 1 GB low profile. Will my power supply pull?
@@fileo7777 Oh yeah, if your power supply is 255W, it should have no trouble powering a 1GB low profile card.
@@HaisteComputerRepair Thank you friend very much
@@fileo7777 My pleasure :)
would an intel i5 corework on this?
Not in this particular model, no. It was still in the era of Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad.
I have this EXACT model
Nice!
@@HaisteComputerRepair yeah lol
@@spaceguyezio3545 This belonged to a customer, but they did give me the Dell Precision 380.
@@HaisteComputerRepair awesome. I upgraded mine with better ram and a core two duo and mine can run Minecraft now
@@spaceguyezio3545 Fantastic. I am helping a student for the same purpose with what I believe is another 780 tower. If you find a Core 2 Quad for a good price, you can install that and have some good performance. Check out the chart near the bottom of the page here for some compatible options: www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_2/Intel-Core%202%20Duo%20E7500%20AT80571PH0773M%20-%20AT80571PH0773ML%20(BX80571E7500).html
I run a tower from 2008 in my living room with a Core 2 Quad and 512MB Geforce card w/HDMI to stream Netflix, etc.
Im having problems locating my hard drive still
Do you mean physically in the tower case or is it not showing up in Windows?
Is 4 sticks 2 GB ram better than 2 sticks of 4 GB ram?
2 sticks of 4GB RAM is better when you have the option of dual-channel, such in the case of this motherboard. However, depending on what you are using it for, you may not notice a large difference if you use 4 x 2GB. If it is available to you and within your means, I would go with dual channel.
@@HaisteComputerRepair Can you not just stick 1x8gb in a slot? Does it need a pair to work?
how did you do to install de drivers?
For the graphics card? They installed automatically. You can also download them manually online. Are you using the same card?
@@HaisteComputerRepair i mean for everything, i am using it stock, im planning on upgrading de hdd for an ssd but im making sure i know how to install all the drivers before buying the ssd
@@matiaspraderi1417 Are you installing Windows 10? Generally, Windows will search for and install the necessary drivers during a fresh install. Or if you install components and hardware with Windows currently installed, you can press the Windows key on the keyboard, type "update" and click on "check for updates." If this doesn't have favorable results, go to the manufacturer website for whatever hardware or component you are working with an download drivers. This can usually be found by searching on Google. Ex: "Radeon HD 6450 Drivers." This is an easy process once you get used to it. Be brave and dive in!
Hi, can I install 16 GB RAM? 4x4
According to this document, it only takes up to 8GB RAM www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/optix/en/optiplex_780_tech_guidebook_en.pdf

The 780 can take 16gb
@@splat2glitcher Are you certain? Perhaps if there are models that take DDR3 RAM. Check out this documentation, for reference. It states up to 8GB. www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/optix/en/optiplex_780_tech_guidebook_en.pdf
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I personally haven't tried and adhered to documentation in the past before purchasing.
I made a dell budget optiplex 780 gaming pc with 16gb ram
where can i buy the i/o shield?
Mine was broke..
That's a touch one as I believe it is built into the case? Do you have the SFF version like in this video?
@@HaisteComputerRepair yea dell optiplex 780 sff
@@farishlobster Gotcha. I think it might be pretty hard to find just the I/O shield portion of the case. I might be wrong as I only worked on this tower for the video, but other models of optiplex released around this time had the shield built into the case. Can you confirm this? It looks like it in the video and to my recollection, but it has been a year and I could be wrong.

Does SSD Overheat?
I wouldn't worry about the SSD overheating unless you are really over working the system in a hot, humid area of the world.
@@HaisteComputerRepair Okay, i was worried for ssd can explode
@@DtcedyyjAmar No problem. I have never known an SSD to explode. I would guess it would just be really unlucky if it were to happen.
