@toxzic probably because GTA 5 is the newest GTA game even though it's pretty old at this point. if you think that's bad, RGHD says GTA 4 is a "rockstar classic" and that makes me feel old even though I am gen z
@@Flytrap I have an E3 1231 V3 in my B85M board. It was way cheaper than a 4790, runs a few less watts, and performs quite close to it. You got ripped off at $100. The original motherboard and CPU is only worth like $40 dollars. You could of had a 4th gen i5 optiplex SFF for $100 instead. They still aren't the best deals since you are stuck with low profile cards. You could have spent that extra money on a new system. A case with a more modern motherboard, CPU, RAM and power supply is just a bit over $200 used and you are then open to a selection of better and more affordable graphic cards. My point is upgrading an SFF isn't the smartest thing to do on a budget these days. Build new or just get a full size optiplex instead.
@@razer1158 oh I know. My point sorta is if you want budget don't go SFF. Personally I have a HTPC. But I understand the extra costs and potential issues such as heat and internal space. Money wasn't a concern.
@@stealthzz3982 2 years late, I know. I agree. It may seem silly, but 35 fps is indeed much nicer than 30. I won't play a game with either framerate, as 45 fps is where i can actually start to focus on the game and not feel as though it's a complete slideshow.
@@christianmino3753 i used to think 30 fps is enough, but after going to 60, 30 fps is looking like a slide show. i can afford a 165hz monitor rn, but im waiting for enough money for a new gpu so i can hit 165 fps in every game at 1080p
@KvAT well they weren't making a shit ton of money off borderline scam microtransactions for gta 4 either so they have an actual financial incentive to get the thing working properly for shitty systems to rake in as much cash as possible since they've obviously given up on making games
My workplace has loads of these 7010s. We recently surplused a bunch of them, so I'm sure they'll find their way on Ebay eventually. We still have a lot of them that are up for rotation now, and a lot sitting around in storage.
I have a larger Dell optiplex 9020 mini tower, it has two pcie 16x slots, one pcie 1x, a pci slot, 4 ram slots, and one of the better Intel style heatsinks with a copper core. It sadly also has a proprietary 8 pin motherboard power connector but that can be fixed by purchasing a adapter online for less than $10.
I have one better, my actually Optiplex 7050 SFF 240w, i7 7770 and 32GB ddr4 @2400mhz will run superb in combination with my next Pulse Sapphire rx6400, I'll upload a video when get this gpu for SFF pc :D
Love seeing the cheaper alternatives. If only I had seen this earlier, I wouldn’t have sold my kidney for my rig :( a 1050ti is more worth than selling your organs
I found a basic HP desktop with i5-4590, 8gb ram, and 500gb hdd for $50. First PC ever, did some research and found 1050ti was my best option as my PC has a proprietary psu. Dug some more and found it can actually take a 1650 which is a significant leap over the 1050ti. So I bought the 1650 (gddr6 version) for $160 on Amazon right before chip shortages and price increase took place. I since upgraded to 16gb of ram and a 250gb satta SSD. For $250 total I have a pretty competent machine. Even capable of very minor VR games like VRchat. Been that way for a year now. My buddy actually found an old i7-4770 in storage and it's actually compatible with my motherboard so I'm going to upgrade to that shortly which will see even a bit more performance. I'm shocked foreal. It's It's great machine for $250
When my best friend's PC died on them, I bought an Optiplex 780 with a i5-2400 for cheap off eBay, tore it down, gave it a good clean and a coat of spray paint or three. I chucked in a low profile GTX 1050 (back when they were MSRP), scrounged around for 12GB of RAM, and velcroed an SSD inside as the bootdrive. It was meant to be a temporary gaming PC while we got a brand-new build sorted so I tried to spend as little as I could. That was over 3 years ago and it's still going lol. My friend mainly plays GTA Online and The Sims 4 and it's still fine in both of those games. They remove the side panel while gaming to keep temps down which definitely helps. It was a fun little tinkering project for me with bigger than expected payoff in terms of lifespan, and I have massive respect for any Optiplex builds/mods as a result lol
This is what I really like about your contents, you gave any PC their best improvements. Even the old ones get their full potential shown. You never failed to amazed me with showing how old PC's get their full potential.
Your videos are always so relaxing to watch, thanks! I recently came across a dump of dell optiplex's in a thrift shop, one of them looked really new and had an i5 8600, 8gb dual channel in it for €50. Threw a cheap gt 1030 in there and turned it into an emulation beast 😎
Props for making all these videos about older tech. It is really delightful to see older hardware still packing a decent punch and it's really environmentally friendly to reuse these old systems that still work.
I remember about 5 years ago I had a set up very similar to this. I bought a cheap Lenovo M91p SFF and smacked a low profile 1050 ti in that thing. I have to admit that thing was a trooper, and it was great price to performance at the time. Man I miss when the 1050 ti low profile was still cheap.
Great video 😀 this is where I started my journey with building pcs 🖥 you don't have to have a mega costly high end pc to have fun 😀😄 I still have a asrock deskmini with a 3400g and still enjoy using it alongside my main gaming rig 🥰
@@cortezbaldur413yes deffo agree with you, but in my case the deskmini is way way too small for a gpu, and they don't have a pcie slot on the mb, this ickle pc I just use for Web browsing and emulation or playing older games maybe a bit of office work, i like it cause it was really small size wise, low power and cheap to build 😉 I have another pc for my main gaming set up 😏
These videos really show the reality of diminishing returns. I've got a decent mid-range gaming PC, but I could deal with something like this. Hell, I've had a great time gaming on weaker hardware.
I would have liked to have seen you bench mark the before and the after, so you can see exactly how much better it is. I put a low profile 1650(back when they were $160) in a 4th gen i5 optiplex for my buddy's kid and they love it, plays everything they throw at it well enough. These really are great "bang for the buck" PCs.
This video is super timely as my i7 3770 is currently on its way and this gives me an idea as to what I should expect. I have similar build (i5 3570 + 16GB) except that I have a 1650. Hopefully, the 3770 combined with my 1650 will provide slightly better results than your config. Great video, as always. Cheers.
I have one of these lying around, except its an optiplex 780. It has a second-gen i5 and some horrendously slow 4gb of ram. I don't even want to try to game on it but I must say these things are very good for keeping important files and for making backups.
You could get a 250GB NVME M.2 and enclosure for it and use it as external SSD for files you want to keep through USB 3. OR you can get a regular SATA M.2 with enclosure OR just a regular 2.5" SATA SSD with enclosure. OR if you want a lot more space then the cheapest way is to get a 1TB regular external HDD but they're much slower. Personally I use a 256GB Gen3 NVME M.2 with enclosure that I had laying around since I upgraded to 1TB Gen3 NVME M.2 for OS not too long ago.
Did something not too far from this nearly a year ago, I manage to snag an Optiplex with an i5 2500 and GTX 1650 Super. Then later upgraded to an i7 2600, though not a huge difference, it did help with games that utilized the hyperthreading on the CPU.
welcome to my first gaming PC, although mine was 'upgraded' with a GT730 back then. Dirt cheap way to get into PC gaming and taught me a lot about system building. Incidentally the SFF optiplex I had the full length PCI slot was in the bottom of the 2 expansion slots so I had to find a low profile, single slot GPU. OEM PSU and Mobo became the biggest issue in upgrading.
I just upgraded my own optiplex. Dremmeled out the side panel, ran my 980ti with a riser. Trick is to get that proprietary mobo power socket adapted for a standard ATX PSU. 1440@120 to the TV is slick. The empty space from the old PSU is perfect for hiding the other psu cables.
The trouble with the newer Optiplexes is that the 16x slot is right up against the power supply and you can only run a single slot GPU in it. I have an i5 4590/GT1030/8GB. It was my gateway to PC gaming and is now the TH-cam and Netflix box.
One thing to note on the CPU upgrade... if you're upgrading to an i7, or HT Xeon, from the i5, you will have to go into the BIOS to enable hyperthreading as it will default to off in the OptiPlex systems.
Yeah I made that mistake recently when I upgraded a PC with an i5 3450 to an i7 3770, forgot to turn on hyperthreading in the BIOS and was wondering why the PC weren't performing much better for about a week haha.
I’ve done a similar build with a small form factor Dell from that generation. In 2020, graphics cards were much cheaper so I opted for the GTX 1650. Otherwise I’ve chosen the same CPU and same amount of RAM. And I upgraded to a 480 GB SSD. Never regretted building this machine. Works fine for gaming with Steam on Ubuntu.
2 possible solutions to avoid overheating: 1) leave the case open, it should lower temperature real well. 2) leave the case open AND buy an external PCIe card holder with PCIe 16x cable, to relocate the gpu in a favorable position. In this case, it will run a lot cooler!
One nice thing about these low-profile cards is they are super easy to “Noctua fan mod”. The biggest reason to do this is none of the low-profile cards have “Zero-RPM Mode”. My Zotac Low Profile 1650’s MINIMUM fan speed is 40%!!! To fix this fan noise issue, I strapped two 60mm Noctua fans on with zip ties. It’s nearly silent at 100% fan speed and runs cooler at full load (fan speed only goes to like 50% when the GPU is at 100% now). I got a VGA fan adapter thing (2pin -> 4 pin Y-Cable), so both Noctua fans are controlled by the GPU fan header! I love it lol.
i Have a 7010MT, it has a i5 3rd gen, 8gigs of ram, and a rx560, i fell in love with the beautiful case, and even when i upgrade to ryzen (probably soon) i will keep the case
Dell and Intel have been surprisingly good options (but only at key moments in time, such as Ireland) for components to go into mboards (even mboards bare in features) which are not made in the orient (like LAN NICs), and almost we had intel to be made here in the British Isles (but recently they have told us to sod off). Intel have iGPU on the CPU which can do virtualisation and are about as powerful as an nvidia 1030 (but sometimes with more RAM for video). It's their iGPU which makes them worth it _(even though many people slag it off, wrongly comparing it to powerful GPU cards)._ Were it not for that, I'd have preferred some sort of open-power thing instead (IBM). ARM (like USB) has been a massive pain in the arse but you simply have to know how to use it and live with it. Now ARM seems to be going, OpenPower is a very good option. Power-saving can wait.
I was rocking that same CPU for the last 4 years in an Optiplex - finally had to upgrade last month - amazing CPU for 60-144fps at 1080p with a 1060 👊🏻
I used to have an optiplex that I used for many games but it was really stuttery and hardly ran more demanding games that I liked even on low settings. It had an i5-3470, R7 360, 520w old psu, 3x4gb 1333mhz drr3, 120gb ssd, mobile 1tb hdd. After upgrading, 20 fps feels nice cause it's not stuttery anymore
This is my exact current gaming and work station. While I can't game maxed out at 1080p all the time, it's still a very competent rig for gaming, emulation, editing and music production. Might upgrade when prices go down and I start to make more substantial money, but for now this works surprisingly well!
I did something similar with a Haswell-era Optiplex for a back up machine. I used a Quadro P1000 instead of a GTX1050/1050Ti as it was cheaper at the time. Not sure how things are currently with the GPUppocalyse, but it used to be that lower end Quadros would often plummet in price when they got old, so were worth keeping an eye out for.
Might be tricky getting drivers for that I tried downloading drivers for a Quadro card and unlike GeForce had a tough time finding the driver with the cards exact name.
@@cortezbaldur413 It's not hard on Windows, Nvidia has a tool where you input the card name and it brings up the newest drivers. On Linux there's just one nvidia driver for all nvidia cards too. Plus, I've installed quadro drivers 4 or 5 times by now.
I just finished upgrading 2x optiplex 3020 mt’s. 16gb 1600 ddr3 in both, i7 4690 in one with an upgraded psu and 750ti. The other upgraded to an i5 4570, 16gb ram and a 1030gt. (Ssd’s fitted) -both were cheap to put together and work well -very happy -would recommend
Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge were really solid processors. I managed to overclock the i7-2600k high enough to match the performance of newer generation intel chips, with no cooling problems whatsoever. Those generations were really OP when it came to performance.
This is probably this best thing to buy if your only looking to do smaller games at fast speed like Minecraft or Roblox. I play both with a similar setup and it was amazing.
by the way, where did you buy the 1050ti? im gonna build a optiplex pc with a rx 560 and im worried that it wont work or will go out of stock. there arent many good 100$ graphics cards
My daughter plays on a similar Optiplex, I also upgraded it with a 1050TI and it plays every thing she wants well. I got a caddy off amazon to replace the DVD drive that holds and SSD that I made the boot drive. My daughter optiplex has an i5-2400 and 8gb of ram, so eventually I'll copy you and upgrade the cpu to an i7 3rd gen and increase the ram to 16gb to give it a bit more life.
I love my i7 3770! Was gonna buy an i5 2500k and thinking of overclocking but I have no good knowledge on OC-ing so I went with 3770 back then. Had a 750ti back then and still works amazingly with my rx480 right now . :)
I just made my Optiplex 7010 for 80€ with an E3 1240 v2, 16GB of DDR3 and 256GB of SSD, I'm just waiting a good deal on a used GT1030 or 1050ti LP. That's gonna be a great pc for my gf :p
I have a 1650 in mine and I'm very much enjoying it. Was playing Fallout New Vegas at native 4k high settings with a solid 60fps. (No I'm not lying). It's insanely awesome and I'm genuinely surprised it can do that. Warzone on the other hand struggles to maintain 60fps but it plays fine. All in all, very happy with the machine. Much better than a base xbox one or ps4 around the same size.
These optiplex PCs serve a really good value to money and can literally play any game from 2015-below at decent settings and fps. Especially awesome as a first PC for the younger ones that parents cannot afford a powerful machine.
I brought that unit recently except since it came with an i3 for $40 and that was because it had no hard drive and ram. I ended up upgrading memory to 8GB, 500GB HD and stuck in a Nvidia 210 and ended up being under $100. My only issue was it came with some bottle necking due to i3, but did find some units that came with i5 I hope to snag someday and have been aiming for those GTX 1050 ti or 1650 low profile ones.
Got the exact same optiplex, upgraded to 3770, 1tb ssd, 16gb ram, cut a hole in it and put in a 1650. I also painted it, to make it look rusty, put some chains and stuff on it. Like a "mad max" kinda build. Runs great😁🤘
@@lightffx4423 This is a late reply, sorry about that. But no it worked perfectly fine. Just make sure you get the 1650 that dont need external power, and know that the cpu runs a bit hot, but nothing to bad as long as you mount the cooler okay :) And since I cut a hole in it, since i couldnt find a low profile 1650 my gpu never got hot x)
Amazing upgrade. I'm building a new system with a Ryzen 5600X, but until then, I'm still rocking my old Xeon X5650 (upgraded from an i7-950!) with a 1050ti. 16Gb is indeed the sweet spot for gaming, only thing I would recommend, if possible on a budget, is to get the fastest memory modules you can. Maybe also replacing that case fan with something better like a Noctua one (although they aren't the cheapest), and definitely ditching that DVD drive, which could help improve airflow and temperatures inside the case... :)
i got an OptiPlex 3020 off eBay 8 months ago and ive been happy with it ever since, it came with an i5-4570 and 8gb ddr3 but i upgraded it to 16gb ddr3 and i added a gt 1030 because the 1050 would not fit (yes it was low profile) and i overclocked the gt 1030 debloated windows and i would say it matches the performance of this build and if not even provides slightly better frames especially in red dead
Yoo nice. Ive got a similar build (my dad's actually), i7 3770, 16gb ram, optiplex 9010 with a msi GT 1030 GPU (fan model). Ive done some benchmarks and gaming tests on there and I'm really happy how it performs considering it costed only $300 AUD (£161), the CPU cooler is absolutely fine, better than what most Dell gaming prebuilts offer now, but the GPU does run a little hot at 80 degrees Celsius.
It would be interesting to see performance with some other stronger GPU, but it's not really bad for the price. But yeah, I'm kinda glad that I went with RX 570, rather than 1050ti, since I saw that performance is a lot better, but you could pick them up for almost the same price in the good old days.
I've got a 7010 with an i5 3570 in it. It only supports 16gb. And, the pcie16 socket is rated at only 50w despite being 3.0. While people do put 75w cards in it, it does both cripple any card that uses 75w, and stresses the board and psu. The gt 1030 gddr5 is honestly the strongest yet safest gpu you can use indefinitely. The PSU is a very uncommon/rare/really only made for oem's called LFX, which has different length and height from TFX as looking at it from the back of the pc. Also, I'm not absolutely certain, but I'm pretty sure they swapped a couple of pins in the 24 pin connector around as well, but if you happen to find an LFX psu with more wattage, then you likely could just use a molex pin remover and swap the pins around as needed, but good luck finding an LFX psu in the wild for anything other than the computers they're designed for (they typically have proprietary power connectors).
I have a Dell OptiPlex 7010 SFF: e3-1270v2, 32GB ram and GTX1650LP rig that is decent although now my main one is a Lenovo Y900 tower: I7-6700K, 32G ram and a GTX980ti. I still have my Dell for a backup, and also it's easier to take with me to different places.
I have build the Same PC 1 year ago. But I have 24GB Ram and use a Gigabyte 1050ti OC Edition with 1 Fan, because this card is silent in Idle Mode, the MSI 1050ti I used before with the 2 fans runs always with 40 % fan speed and there's no way to lower this! Afterburner doesn't work! It's the perfect understatement Gaming And Lan Party PC :)! And yes, it runs Crysis very smooth in FHD with Ultra Settings. Dirt 4 and Fallout 4 in FHD with highest settings run very smooth too. Cs Go in FHD with maxed settings runs always between 200 and 300 FPS! I became the PC for 0€ and the GB 1050ti OC costs me 60€. I have much luck to became this. I build a 500GB Samsung Evo SSD in it ( for. 0 €:) and my external 4TB HDD changed in this PC too. It's crazy how much Place is in this little case and how good it's upgradeable. Dell does a perfect job here.

@@TTBUG dude, amazing. The 4770 will get you to 4 cores / 8 threads. (Your i5 is only 4cores). I love these vids, I find them more entertaining than those overpriced 3080 ti builds and such. I like the creativity of squeezing value out of hidden gems
For Cyberpunk, setting crowd density to low and slow HDD mode on (even if you use an SSD, since what this seems to do is reduce draw distance) also helps a bit with FPS. And also ray-tracing to off if you have a GPU that supports it but that's irrelevant with a 1050 Ti. Ray-tracing eats a fair bit of CPU if enabled. I have an i3-10100 and those three settings keep me at 60 FPS most of the time, because said i3 is a 4 core / 8 thread part and Cyberpunk really struggles with those even if they're newer.
@@feyn321 yeah, I replaced it with similar PSU, and it worked fine after. Now I have removed the graphics card because the fan started making noise and I couldn't get another one.
Hey, mate. I own and currently use this chip (with a 1050 non-Ti to boot) and, let me tell you, when you test GTA V you should really be testing it in the Online portion of the game. That's where the CPUs usually get hammered on (especially when you're in a session any any number higher than 16 players) For single player it is a great chip. Though it does get a bit painful online sometimes... Anyway, excellent video, cheers!
I built a refurb Optiplex with an i5-7500, 16GB RAM, 240GB SSD and the 75W low profile GTX 1650 for just under AUD$900 last October, runs really well; Deus Ex Mankind Divided at 1080p high settings is no problem. Make sure you buy a USB DAC as well though, because the onboard audio is rubbish.
this is my first build basically. i bought an I7 950 and wasn't entirely satisfied with my build so I bought another used prebuilt with one of these bad boys and purchased my first gpu of the 1650 super. 16 of ram and loved every minute. the 950 isnt terrible either but cache and mips are starting to fall behind likely leading to the stutters .could even be the ram speeds .
I have this exact pc, though I have the Optiplex 7010 with the big case, it got the i7 3770 and 16gb with 4 sticks of ram. I stuck a rtx 3060 in it. It runs really well in most games. The games I tested are Minecraft Java, GTA V, BeamNG Drive and Minecraft Bedrock RTX. It does struggle with GTA on very high settings, mostly due to the cpu. BeamNG Drive can play on the highest settings at 55-60fps. And Minecraft Java can run and med to high settings at 60fps with shaders. Bedrock with rtx can run at 60fps with high settings. It is a really solid pc.
I also have a i7 3770 which is my daily driver without a gpu. Because it is using the integrated gpu it hovers around 80°c When doing heavy cpu/gpu intensive stuff. I am happy that People still use these old beasts
Most impressed with the CPU upgrade. I somehow always overlook that possibility and just focus on the video card/memory side of things. It's easy to forget that these CPUs are so cheap used.
The disparity between those 3rd Gen i3s and the 3770 is amazing. I tried adding a GPU to a i3 3320 before quickly realizing that I would need to snag a cheap i7 from Ebay 🤣 that i3 stuttered so badly that games were unplayable (paired w/ 1060 6gb).
One quick tip for Fortnite - I have found that leaving the FPS on "unlimited" actually has a very detrimental effect on performance. Limiting it to something high like 144 can help. I actually get worse performance when on unlimited mode because my hardware is overworking itself. And that's on high-end hardware! I can only imagine what it was trying to do in your case here.
If you can find a Xeon E3 1270 V2 for cheap, and have a GPU, that's also a great budget replacement, as they run a little cheaper than the i7 still. I have one, and it cost ~$50 USD, whereas an i7-2600 is still ~$60USD.
My dad's had an optiplex 790 sff for nearly four years as a family pc running Ubuntu, it has a 2400 and room for a low profile 1050 so I'm tempted to clean it up, replace thermal paste and possibly add a fan and get a gpu to sell on.
I still can't believe that a GT1030 2gb GDDR5 can run games like,Red Dead Redemption,Days Gone,Dirt 5,Forza Horzion 4,World War Z,GTA SA with Directx 2.0 enb,FS19,most of the AC series,Control etc etc
These computers make great home theater PCs because of their size, form factor, ease of upgradability, gaming performance which the quality really isn't important when you're sitting at a couch at a distance, and of course having an optical drive you can change to a Blu-ray drive and watch Blu-ray movies on your TV with it too.

Dug some more and found it can actually take a 1650 which is a significant leap over the 1050ti. So I bought the 1650 (gddr6 version) for $160 on Amazon right before chip shortages and price increase took place. I since upgraded to 16gb of ram and a 250gb satta SSD.
Threw a cheap gt 1030 in there and turned it into an emulation beast 😎
an i5 8th gen?! damn

I have one of these lying around, except its an optiplex 780. It has a second-gen i5 and some horrendously slow 4gb of ram. I don't even want to try to game on it but I must say these things are very good for keeping important files and for making backups.
I got an i5 2320 + 8GB of ram, with a GTX 480 (better than GTX 750 ti, but not a lot). It's running like a beast.
Pro tip: install freenas on the system, that way, you can access the backups from another pc
@Narkomancers
Yeah mostly in newer games that were released after driver support died for Fermi.
Not sure if I understand why you wouldn’t just use external hard drives for backups instead
OEM PSU and Mobo became the biggest issue in upgrading.
it turned out into a relatively acceptable rig with those upgrades, the power supply was quite the mvp there
but the original mechanical HDD, a small one at that is a terrible bottleneck like putting a GT 1030 in a Threadripper would be
I love these type of videos keep them up my g

The classic combo for us was an Optiplex 7010 with a 1050 Ti. That thing truly was a console killer.

Plus, I've installed quadro drivers 4 or 5 times by now.

i got an OptiPlex 3020 off eBay 8 months ago and ive been happy with it ever since, it came with an i5-4570 and 8gb ddr3 but i upgraded it to 16gb ddr3 and i added a gt 1030 because the 1050 would not fit (yes it was low profile) and i overclocked the gt 1030 debloated windows and i would say it matches the performance of this build and if not even provides slightly better frames especially in red dead
Good job dude..It would be cool if you did a rundown of pre vs after upgrades.

This is basically what I did this January. I made a budget build from new and used parts from Kijiji. I5 3550 with an r9 280x
I had one of these PSUs explode with GTX1050Ti, I recommend removing the disk drive while at it to lower the power consumption slightly.
Bro which psu explode was your pc Dell optplex 790
@@feyn321 yeah, I replaced it with similar PSU, and it worked fine after. Now I have removed the graphics card because the fan started making noise and I couldn't get another one.
Thanks for getting me into pc gaming my guy o7
o what?
Hey, mate. I own and currently use this chip (with a 1050 non-Ti to boot) and, let me tell you, when you test GTA V you should really be testing it in the Online portion of the game. That's where the CPUs usually get hammered on (especially when you're in a session any any number higher than 16 players)
For single player it is a great chip.
These Optiplex computers are incredibly well built. It is no surprise to me that this performs the way it does ;)
I have this exact pc, though I have the Optiplex 7010 with the big case, it got the i7 3770 and 16gb with 4 sticks of ram.
I am not saying to get a RTX 3060, a 1050ti should work fine. But just get what you can afford and what is not over priced.
I also have a i7 3770 which is my daily driver without a gpu.
Because it is using the integrated gpu it hovers around 80°c
When doing heavy cpu/gpu intensive stuff. I am happy that
People still use these old beasts
Yeah, I still like Intel's integrated graphics cause I can play most games without a stutter with tweaks
@@bonedawgstudio5649 Where i am at the 2nd and 3rd gen i7's are dirt cheap even compared to what RGHD paid. Usually they go for 20-30€ here
One quick tip for Fortnite - I have found that leaving the FPS on "unlimited" actually has a very detrimental effect on performance. Limiting it to something high like 144 can help. I actually get worse performance when on unlimited mode because my hardware is overworking itself. And that's on high-end hardware! I can only imagine what it was trying to do in your case here.
Optiplex watercooling when?
OPTIPLEX👏WATERCOOLING👏WHEN?!👏
I’ll give it a go haha

If you can find a Xeon E3 1270 V2 for cheap, and have a GPU, that's also a great budget replacement, as they run a little cheaper than the i7 still. I have one, and it cost ~$50 USD, whereas an i7-2600 is still ~$60USD.
My boy still plays Escape from Tarkov on a i7-3770k, pretty good!
Except you need 32GB of RAM for Escape From Tarkov. Which GPU does he has? Hopefully not something that bottlenecks 3770.
@@weecious Need? no. Nice to have on some of the maps? Yes
@@virtualtools_3021 The game actually uses over 16GB from what I noticed. When swapped from 16GB kit to 32 kit the problem was solved.
My dad's had an optiplex 790 sff for nearly four years as a family pc running Ubuntu, it has a 2400 and room for a low profile 1050 so I'm tempted to clean it up, replace thermal paste and possibly add a fan and get a gpu to sell on.
That is a surprisingly well balanced system
I still can't believe that a GT1030 2gb GDDR5 can run games like,Red Dead Redemption,Days Gone,Dirt 5,Forza Horzion 4,World War Z,GTA SA with Directx 2.0 enb,FS19,most of the AC series,Control etc etc
These computers make great home theater PCs because of their size, form factor, ease of upgradability, gaming performance which the quality really isn't important when you're sitting at a couch at a distance, and of course having an optical drive you can change to a Blu-ray drive and watch Blu-ray movies on your TV with it too.
