@@AudioHaze - I just found you a few days ago. I truly loved this! My buddy / drummer lives in IN and I live in TN. He records at home with just a few mics and then sends the tracks to me. Then I record guitar, bass and vocals at home with just a few mics. Seeing that you did it with just one truly inspired me. And great song, dude. It really makes me feel better that I'm not the only one who uses other songs as a reference. I do that a lot. "I want a song kinda like this..." And then I'll record 3 or 4 ... or more different versions of the same song.... it gets maddening. This helped me see that there others in the woods with me and finding their forest. Thanks for making this.
This is super tight! Radiohead/Fog Lake vibes and also infused with your own thing in a great way. Layering the samples for the drums is something I've never thought of, super cool!
Thank you so much for this. Your music is instantly more appealing because of your authenticity. Bravely showing the hardship, the frustration and the flaws in your process is truly inspiring. This gives hope. Thank you so, so much. ❤
Yeah man I feel like TH-camrs love to show the polished product, and there's nothing wrong with that! But the reality is there's a ton of struggle behind the scenes, and that's where the true relatability is
“We are in our own room recording ourselves, do whatever you want” is the kind of inspirational quote we need in our feeds. Also, 100% agree with you about a bassline melody, as soon as your bass part kicked in I was hooked 🔥
Yo thanks man!! lol sometimes I think bassists will hate me for not locking into the traditional rhythmic role of the bass, but its just always been my style when I write basslines idk
@@AudioHaze haha maybe I agree with you because I’m also a guitarist, I’ve definitely had my own demo basslines changed on me by “real bassists” before. One of my favourite bassists though is Simon Gallup from the Cure (and I guess Robert Smith counts too) and he was originally a guitarist so there you go.
LOVE when a bass has a melodic motif and doesn't only follow the root, too . Beautiful song and wise words at the end! Looking forward to more original stuff.
I don’t usually comment on videos but I just just found your channel and have watched literally all of em, keep up the quality homie. Really helping and inspiring a lot of creatives !!
I’ve been very fascinated with home recording gear and it took me a long time to actually use the gear I have at home. I got it in October last year and I didn’t get around to using it until September this year. Life has been so crazy. I must say the advice you gave on not giving up about nailing a part on the acoustic guitar, and only using one mic for everything, I find it tremendously inspiring! What I’m trying to say is I love your videos and the high quality content that is in them! So a million thanks for your channel! It’s so inspiring!
Every time I watch something from your channel, it makes me want to continue making music. I hope making the videos inspires that same feeling for you.
Thank you for making these videos. I've been producing music for two years and recently started taking it more seriously. Your videos have been a huge help with my mixing, structure, and composition. I enjoy sampling songs and adding my own counter melodies, MIDI basslines, and drums (It's the way I feel most comfortable making music), and hearing you say not to worry about how we create our art gives me confidence. Thank you!
Ofc dude!! Too many people online these days "reacting", judging, doing just about anything but making stuff themselves. Create in what ever way feels most natural to you, and don't let anyone drag you down for it :)
Thanks so much man!! Yeah I wanted it to be just as much about songwriting as it is about production, kind of ride that line :)

For someone whose all time favourite album is In Rainbows, this song hits different (in a best way possible). Love the guitar harmonies and overall, organic vibe ❤️
Wow man this is some amazing stuff, I love that along the way you show that it’s not all as easy as it looks, but also show that it’s very possible to do what you did, the drums part was especially so cool, really great drum sound for a single mic, I might have to cop it. Amazing song by the way, absolutely beautiful. 🖤
definitely cop it!! I actually loved the drum sound bc using one mic actually led to a CLEANER sound that if I mic'd it in a traditional way, the isolation this technique gave became a major feature
@@AudioHaze yeah i was talking to my friends about how clean it was and how it was way nicer than the like multiple mic setup we did at college 😭 might have to try just doing a one mic setup for our next track like that fr
What’s weird is, I have a massive, unhealthy obsession with microphones. I love them all, I think even bad ones can be used for something. I have an equally unhealthy collection of microphones. But here’s the thing, I record almost everything I do an a Lauten Audio LA320 tube mic. I have literally 38 choices in my humble home studio but that’s the mic I keep coming back to. I love it! Also, love your song and that bass line! I love melodies in bass lines too! Also, I find acoustic guitars always sound better with a cat on them!
Same! I've got a whole collection, but if I'm recording one source I default to handful of options I trust and know how to mix well. Lauten occupies three of those mics lol and yes....tone wood? More like tone CAT
Hardcore relatability throughout this entire video/process. Wish I could sub twice. Definitely here for more of this. Thanks for revealing this part of it.
I’m invested……nice to see you finding out what you’ve been learning by figuring out how others have done it and investing it back into yourself and letting us watch your process. There are those of us in roughly the same space. I’m recording an album in a room in the house. Mixing and producing. Wonderful to ride shotgun along with you in that space. And the most important thing is you/we are doing it for ourselves and friends with the “making it in the business” mentality not a part of the process. Just creativity and sharing THAT! Social media at it’s best! Death Valley, just down the street, is supposed to go over 130 this weekend……
130??? I'll stick to being a fan from a difference lol, and thank you man! I really believe in social media when the intentions are good and the content is made with rigor....unfortunately that type of content is in the minority. Best of luck with the album my friend, keep going strong and see it through to the end!!
12:42 I live about 100 ft from a railroad and the train comes by about once per hour. Tracking my album in my bedroom this week, I decided NO MORE WAITING ON TRAINS. There are going to be several train sounds throughout my album and that is worth the frustration of having to stop a take when I hear the train. I even mention it when I’m tracking vocals, it’s like a running theme
totally agree that there are no rules...i loved how you said we are in our rooms doing our own thing...punch in as much as you need....also totally agree that production and writing going hand in hand...thanks so much for sharing your personal journey for making this song....much appreciated.
@@AudioHaze I liked your take on structure when thinking of songwriting as well. Introducing harmony as one of those structural elements...totally back that one. I also like considering tempo and time signature changes as elements of surprise...can be a bit challenging but I love it when a song does something rhythmically complex.
This video is so sweet man. So many insights and bits to learn from. I loved the personal bits and advice when it comes to holding yourself back. Thank you for all of it
You’ve become my favourite youtube channel in only 3 videos I absolutely adore how you build your content and the advices are SO good and useful thank you for all
I'm honored to be one of your favorites my friend!! At the end of the day, there's enough content out there that's about judging without doing, really just trying to inspire people to create more so than judge what's already been made
@@AudioHaze Yesss I thiink that’s why your work stands out its built in a way that makes us want to compose and even mix which for me i’m still new to, and this video was an absolute joy to watch I couldn’t wait to go home and start a new project after a few months of not making anything
It definitely was!! But I'm getting to the point where I don't want to put anything out unless its worth your time, which usually means a ton of work haha
Thanks Felix! Yeah I think I probably will make more, I made this one with zero intentions and just wanted to feel it out....but ngl I got the writing bug
AudioHaze, you wrote a fantastic song, explored brilliantly the intricacies of this method of writing/recording, and honestly kind of helped inspire me out of a funk I’ve had for a years. Can’t tell you what this video means to me
That bit about insecurities and getting it right and doubting yourself as a musician - that kicked me in the feels so hard. I found your channel recently after trying to get back into recording and releasing a song a month for a year and am experiencing all of those things. Thanks, I really needed to hear that. I helps alot. Great tune btw, love your work and that you're teaching noobs like me how to make better music
By far and away your best video yet! Great encouragement to everyone recording at home. You have tremendous talent in music, video production and giving people inspiration to follow their creative dreams no matter what budget limitations they might have. Very well done!
This is easily your best video. Love getting to see the process of another artist. Really appreciate that whole “don’t let anyone, even yourself, get in the way of making art” advice, I feel like a lot of us bedroom musicians can get too into our own heads and we tend to forget to set aside egos and just create.
MUCHO NIVEL!!!!!!! Quiero ver el proceso de mezcla!!!!! Será la primera vez que pague Patreon! Thanks AundioHaze for this detailed videos. That's exactly what I appreciate the most.
I’m late to the party but incase you see this, every time I watch one of your videos I get this huge rush of inspiration to work on my own projects that I don’t get many other places, so thank you. Love watching your process and comparing it to my own and learning little things along the way, truly one of my favorite channels right now. Anyways hope you’re having a good day and keep up the great work. :)
Ryan this is literally all I could ever ask for from my videos, thank you so much dude. All I want to do is have my own videos lead to more music being made :)
I've been having a really tough couple weeks. And, for the last few weeks I've really been pretty out of touch with my musical side. But watching this video is inspiring me to reach back for my guitar. It's bringing me back to the music. Thanks Haze. 😊
def my favorite video so far - great hearing original stuff, plus i love the idea that we all have go-to "comfort riffs" (never really thought of it that way) and esp. love seein professionals doin "spacebar, ctrl+z, spacebar, ctrl+z..." ad nauseum too!
Because of you I got the Shure SM57, because of you I planned to get the AT4040 as well, because of you I’m torn between the AT4040 and The Lauten 220. Keep the expert advice coming. Great video and wonderful song. Cheers!
Maaan, thank you! Thank you for this video, for the inspiration, for this song! You are incredibly talented in teaching, playing, recording, mixing, and you share it here! I really appreciate it! Who knows how many songs will be recorded in the bedroom thanks to your video))
I hope a lot!!! If nothing else I want my work to give rise to as many other songs as possible, that's the dream, beyond anything I hope others choose to create bc of what we do on the channel
Another AMAZING video! Dude, you have an amazing talent in teaching and motivational speaking. Thank you for helping me believe in my ability and see what's important. ❤ P.S. It has been incredible seeing you grow! Keep up the great work.
Man thank you so much for that speech in the end I'm starting on recording more rock oriented music coming from an electronic production background and the ego thing is definitely a thing Thank you for validating how fucking hard and tough the process is
I'm with you on Lauten, they're my favorite too. We just did a studio inventory stock audit for my insurance last week, and it turns out we own more Lauten mics than any other company by a landslide. I think for just Lauten I have 36 mics lol. They're such incredible sounding and flexible mics, and they have fantastic customer service.
@@legacyShredder1 Ive got a bunch of guitars, a nitro mesh e kit with quite cymbals with all the holes in them and a bunch of other instruments like tongue drums, I'm best at 6 string bass and use a Roland RX bass amp, the one you can put batteries in, its amazing. Been arranging and flipping samples with Ableton for over a year and everything sounds great. Now I have tones of experience I wana try doing comedic rapping over my own playing. Do you have a recommendation?
Wonderfully written and produced song. Most liberating part of your documentary?.... The mess ups, retakes, frustrations, experiments. This made it feel real and that the struggle is not a sign that you/we suck. No matter how successful you get, I hope you never forget the bedroom producer. This is gold.
Thanks Rob!! Nah man I want to be a bedroom producer for life, big studios are fun as hell but they're a luxury at this point, so much can be done for so little :)
Love this video! Man, this is just the inspiration I needed to stop making excuses "in the kindest way possible" and just start making music again. Thank you!
The truth is that references are used a LOT in writing/composing/recording/producing music. I love that you mapped it out in this way to show that you need to use whatever you have at your disposal to JUST START WORKING!!! Blank page syndrome is very real, so thanks for eliminating any stigma attached to this approach.
Yes dude absolutely!! At the end of the day we're all just taking in our influences and iterating on them, mixing them into a big cauldron, and coming up with something new. Own your influences, they're what define your sound in many ways!!
As someone who's been bedroom recording/writing music for about 10 years, this is so reasuring. I've come so far but always feel like I'm missing something as far as recording techniques, processes, equipment, and whatever else but seeing these raw portions of your process that most artists hide(which is understandable) is so relatable. Almost have a full album ready to be mixed and mastered (first time releasing any music) But my biggest regret is spinning my tires through this whole time trying to find the right equipment/techniques when I could have just been making music the whole time. The way music has progressed and the standards of the recording process to make music sound so (perfect/produced) is a very daunting and crazy learning curve. But man, the journey makes you feel a part of something huge! Awesome awesome video!
Dude congrats on the album, you're almost at the finish line!! Yeah this process was actually way more streamlined than normal, because there was zero though put into gear, I HAD to use this mic, so I put into a position I trust and just started tracking. I think setting your own limitations based on gear you trust is the way to go. I used to do endless mic shootouts, now I stick one of 3 or 4 mics in front of the source and worry about the take. Cheers man!
I’m still watching, but I just have to say, I’m loving this format! I’m having a great time watching this. I love that you leave breaths of air in the edit instead of bombarding the viewer with non-stop excitement. The pacing is just great! It’s like watching a mini-documentary instead of regular “content” (for lack of a better word). I really appreciate you making this 😊
Thanks Tom! That was definitely the goal, I wanted to reach further into shooting rather than crazy graphics. Learn a bit more about story telling ya know
Completely new to production and tech side of music having only really been the lead guitar for my band, you are so good mate, everything is so easy to understand :)
Dude welcome to the production world!! Its incredibly rewarding, I started as a guitarist and now being a guitarist and an audio engineer are near inseparable to me. Appreciate the kind words!
I came here interested in recording with one microphone, especially the drums. And I found a great lesson not only on recording but also on instrumentation,on songwriting and generally building a song and making simple musical ideas interesting and compellin, while also learning a lot on sound enginearing .Amazing video and a great song.Well done!!!!

Love the glimpse into your creative process! Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing this with us!
Thanks dude, appreciate you watching and supporting for as long as you have!
Good job bro, absolutely crushed it. It’s no small feat to make what you did let alone with only one mic. This deserves all the recognition
Thanks dude!! So glad you like it, truly thank you sm :)
LOVE when a bass has a melodic motif and doesn't only follow the root, too . Beautiful song and wise words at the end! Looking forward to more original stuff.
Thanks Mustafa!! Appreciate you being such a supportive viewer my friend, means a lot truly :)
I don’t usually comment on videos but I just just found your channel and have watched literally all of em, keep up the quality homie. Really helping and inspiring a lot of creatives !!
ah thats amazing thank you!! Welcome to the community as well :)
Love that you show your process, even the fu** ups, and that you actually can back it up with a great result every time. Keep up the great work!
That's the most I could ever ask for, thank you for saying this :)
Best video I’ve seen in a while! It’s really a lesson in song writing and recording. Well done 😁
Thanks so much man!! Yeah I wanted it to be just as much about songwriting as it is about production, kind of ride that line :)
For someone whose all time favourite album is In Rainbows, this song hits different (in a best way possible). Love the guitar harmonies and overall, organic vibe ❤️
That makes me so happy to hear dude :) one of my top 5 albums too! OK Computer and Kid A are in there too
Really enjoyed this on, thank you. I’d love to see more of your songwriting/recording.
And I'd love to do more!! Already thumbing through some of my riffs/acoustic tracks that could use expanding on
I thought just me has a comfy riff to play in special overwhelmed moments. I like your channel because you make things in a personal way, I love that
Nah man I think we all have that!! its like a musical fidget toy for anxiety hahaha
Really beautiful layering of the different parts. love it
Thanks Chris!
this video is so important, speaking to me directly. holy shit. thank you!
Glad it spoke to you my friend! Hopefully it lights a fire to create something awesome for yourself :)
I do a lot of trap and I love using bad ones on adlibs gives a lot of interesting textures
@@AudioHaze I’m not sure we are allowed to say tone wood anymore 😂
Hardcore relatability throughout this entire video/process. Wish I could sub twice. Definitely here for more of this. Thanks for revealing this part of it.
Thanks my friend!! We'll see how the vid does, I'd LOVE to do more like this :)
Danke!
Thank you as always Rainer! Your support means so much
@AudioHaze The pleasure totally is on my side. You created a little special masterpiece.
Thanks for checking it out my friend! And happy recording :)
@@AudioHaze I liked your take on structure when thinking of songwriting as well. Introducing harmony as one of those structural elements...totally back that one. I also like considering tempo and time signature changes as elements of surprise...can be a bit challenging but I love it when a song does something rhythmically complex.
Awsome song congratulations you are a great producer/writer/musician!!!
Thank you os much Miguel!
Has to be the best video I have seen in months. Very inspiring with great information dressed in thoughful reflections and ideas.
Thanks man!! That was the goal, try and tempt with production hacks and show a lot more depth than just that haha
Thank you for this video!!!
Thanks for checking it out!
This video is so sweet man. So many insights and bits to learn from. I loved the personal bits and advice when it comes to holding yourself back. Thank you for all of it
And thank you for checking it out!
26:28 - It's one of the most important words to hear and keep in mind! Thank you, just thank you! Amazing video and the song also!
Thank you my friend!! Happy writing :)
Superb video, beautiful song! Thank you for sharing, it must have been a ton of work.
It definitely was!! But I'm getting to the point where I don't want to put anything out unless its worth your time, which usually means a ton of work haha
Man I really really love this song. Please keep making your own songs and bringing them out they’re so so good. Thanks for this song❤
Incredible video. This is a perfect example of why I subbed and why I follow your work. Thank you!!! ❤
Yayyy thanks Blue!
Highly relatable and learnt a lot. Best thing on TH-cam I have seen in a while. Thanks so much! Tune is fantastic too.
Best thing on TH-cam in a while?? Dude you have no idea how much that means, thank you!
I dig the video content, really good stuff man. Also the song vibe is amazing, you definitely hit the mark, it's a banger.
Thanks man! Glad you liked the vid, yeah I'm really proud of that track :) felt so good to write again
i love your videos. so much insight and clarity! and more importantly so inspirational!
Thank you so much!! Trying my best out here, hope it was helpful :)
By far and away your best video yet! Great encouragement to everyone recording at home. You have tremendous talent in music, video production and giving people inspiration to follow their creative dreams no matter what budget limitations they might have. Very well done!
Incredibly helpful to see recording processes at work. Soooo truly helpful. Thank you! ✌️😌🎸
That makes me so happy to hear!
This is easily your best video. Love getting to see the process of another artist. Really appreciate that whole “don’t let anyone, even yourself, get in the way of making art” advice, I feel like a lot of us bedroom musicians can get too into our own heads and we tend to forget to set aside egos and just create.
Totally! Especially with the endless tracks and takes we can do...we can always get it "more perfect" ya know. Glad you enjoyed my friend :)
Beautiful and informative! 🖖
Thank you!
MUCHO NIVEL!!!!!!! Quiero ver el proceso de mezcla!!!!! Será la primera vez que pague Patreon!
Thanks AundioHaze for this detailed videos. That's exactly what I appreciate the most.
Glad I could help dude!! And yess come hang out on Patreon!! Lmk if you have any questions on the mix I'm happy to help :)
Love how you edited this video! Incredible work man, thanks for having me as always 🙏🏼
THANKS DOOOOOD, thanks for being in the vid, as always :)
Ive been there dude :) sometimes I slip into the same thing, it’s hard out there! Glad I could be of some help
def my favorite video so far - great hearing original stuff, plus i love the idea that we all have go-to "comfort riffs" (never really thought of it that way) and esp. love seein professionals doin "spacebar, ctrl+z, spacebar, ctrl+z..." ad nauseum too!
What a great video man, been loving the production lately - and damn what a great song!
Thanks dude!! Glad you like it my friend, was so nice to write again, haven't worked that muscle in ages
This is an amazing video, in inspiration, how to think and the musical content itself, i would love to see more videos like this one, Subscribed.
Thanks Kevin!! I'd love to make more like this, got that writing bug in me now :)
i was hoping for this video. thank you.
Glad you found it then my friend!
Because of you I got the Shure SM57, because of you I planned to get the AT4040 as well, because of you I’m torn between the AT4040 and The Lauten 220. Keep the expert advice coming. Great video and wonderful song. Cheers!
SM57 +220 deadly combo!!! Thanks for watching :)
This sounds so fucking good!!! Honestly don't have more words to describe it. Completely fits the vibe. Also, love your videos mate!!
Thanks my friend! So glad you enjoyed the vid :)
Honestly one of the most entertaining, informative, and influencing videos out there.
Damn dude you have no idea how happy I am to hear this :) really keeps me motivated to keep making stuff like this
Another AMAZING video! Dude, you have an amazing talent in teaching and motivational speaking. Thank you for helping me believe in my ability and see what's important. ❤
P.S. It has been incredible seeing you grow! Keep up the great work.
I'm happy to help my friend :) if its of any worth, you guys all keep me motivated and happy to keep creating with comments like this one!
Man thank you so much for that speech in the end I'm starting on recording more rock oriented music coming from an electronic production background and the ego thing is definitely a thing
Thank you for validating how fucking hard and tough the process is
Of course man, I'm on the artists side, I will always and forever be on the artists side. Make your vision and do it at all costs.
this sounds FANTASTIC DUDE
Audiohaze x Mike Cole crossover episode when?
Thanks Cole!!! Keep up the great work yourself my friend :)
Nice song, nice video, like your videos! And you have a nice voice that can tell a story well! :)
Thanks so much dude!
DANG!! You must be their biggest customer!! They really are insane, incredibly hard to make a Lauten sound bad
@@AudioHaze There are studios that own way more than I do, but I admit I own a lot.
Was looking for a mic, thankyou!
What are you wanting to record? There's about a million great options depending on your situation.
@@RoboBobitic I personally love the LA-220 as a catch all! But like legacy shredder said there's a bajillion wonderful budget options these days
Absolutley amazing!!! Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks for checking it out!
Thank you!
Yessir!! Go kick ass!! In the kindest way possible!!
Beautiful video!!
Thanks man!
this was jaw dropping man, amazing work on every front
This video was a beautiful journey guided by you. Well done on all fronts. Great collaboration
Thank you my friend!
I currently have four mics including the Lauten LA220. It gets the most use and has become my go to recommendation. It’s a killer mic
Its sick, you really have to TRY to get a bad sound out of a Lauten mic lol
Amazing video man. You have such a unique way of creating your art. Never stop inspiring others
I'll keep doing my best, appreciate you taking the time to check out the vid :)
SUCH a good video! The song, the message, the struggle, just everything is so authentic. Love it and love all your other videos!
Thanks man!! Trying my best to present a more real version of what its like to make a song :)
That V1 to V2 transition is SO nice, I love that
damn cool man, keep making this kind of video☝
Noted, thanks dude!
this was super super helpful. it's nice to see other musicians struggle with recording in the same way i do, and i'm sure many people do
I may even go as far as to say most people do :)
This is exactly the kind of shit I have been hoping you'd make since forever. Love love love the new direction.
Yeah I'm hoping this could maybe turn into a new series, about creating under tight limitations or something :)
This felt like a down to earth Simon Servida video, but for a genre Ive never tapped into before ❤
Idk that creator, I'll check them out! Appreciate the kind words :)
Amazing stuff, dude. Keep it coming.
Thanks man!! I'll keep it up as long as I can :)
Cheers man!
Would definitely be down to see more videos like this one!
Hell yeah! I'm super down to make more
Tune came out beautiful, dude! Thanks for sharing the process!
Thanks for checking it out dude!
Super video and the song is amongst my favourites I’ve heard this year. I’ve played it many times. I look forward to hearing more in the future. 👏
Wow THANK YOU! The amount of support I've received for this track is overwhelming in the best way possible, I'm so glad you like it
Really really great video! Super honest and the song sounds excellent. I really loved the demo with the acoustic guitar too hehe. Keep going :) ❤️
Thanks Ivan! I definitely will :)
This is a great video. I would love to see more of this content. I also am recording songs at home with affordable gear. It was very nice to see this whole process. Your comments were also very relatable, and supportive. More please!
